Dulquer Salmaan’s Kali gets Telugu and Kannada versions

Malayalam movies are always known for their solid content rather than the technical values. Several Malayalam movies have been remade in other langauges. For a brief while the trend of remakes seemed to dimnish but looks like it has picked up once again. After Bangalore Days, Premam and Charlie, now it’s Kali’s turn to get remade.

Sameer Thahir’s Kali starring Dulquer Salmaan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles was an action thriller. The movie was more of a character study about the protagonist’s quick tempered nature which lands the couple in trouble in a remote area. Since the story can be set in any milieu, the movie is getting dubbed in Telugu and a remake version in Kannada.

The Kannada version titled as Kidi is gearing up to hit screens this month. The movie marks the directorial debut of S Raghu, a renowned choreographer. Bhuvan and debutant Pallavi are playing the lead roles in the movie.

Reportedly, a popular Telugu distributor is planning to dub the movie. It is learnt that the success of Sai Pallavi’s debut Telugu film Fidaa has inspired a dubbed version for Kali. Kali will be Dulquer’s second Telugu remake after the romantic entertainer 100 Days Of Love.

Kali released in 2016 was a commercial success. Critics also appreciated the team for the lead pair’s performance and Sameer Thahir’s direction. We will have to wait and see if the Telugu and Kannada versions can also repeat the same.

Villain surpasses Pulimurugan’s record even before its release

The wait for Mohanlal starrer Villain is getting impatient every passing day. Villian, directed by B Unnikrishnan is probably one of the most anticipated films of this year. The movie is currently in it’s final stages of post production and is expected to hit screens during the Pooja holidays.

There is a tremendous hype for Villain since the movie has many big stars from other industries and also the involvement of a production house like Rockline Films. Staying true to this massive hype, the movie has already started doing great pre-release business.

If reports are to be believed, Villain’s satellite rights has been acquired by Surya TV for a record amount. The movie has broken the previous record held by Pulimurugan, which is the first and only 100 crore grosser of Malayalam cinema. If the pre-release hype is anything to go, Villain will also have a great run in box office.

As reported by us earlier, the makers are eyeing to release the movie in 3 languages simultaneously. Presumably, the movie will be released in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages. Besides Mohanlal, the movie also has the presence of big stars like Vishal, Hansika and Srikanth who can attract the non-Malayali audience to theatres. This is a great move by the makers which will definitely boost the box office earnings.

Villain is a crime thriller in which Mohanlal will be seen as Mathew Manjooran, a police officer. Manju Warrier is playing his wife’s role in the movie. This movie funded by Rockline Venkatesh is said to be the first Indian movie to be shot completely and released in 8K resolution.

Wow! Mani Ratnam pulls off a casting coup for his next?

Ever since Kaatru Veliyidai released, there have been a whole lot of speculations about the lead cast in Mani Ratnam’s next film. Ram Charan, Abishek Bachchan, Naani, Fahad Fassil, Madhavan and more recently Vijay Sethupathy were some of the names that were doing the rounds in connection with his upcoming movie.

Now, reports are doing the rounds that Mani Ratnam’s next will be a big budget multistarrer. Talks are abuzz that the director is trying to rope in Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Arvind Swamy and Vijay Sethupathy for his next movie. That’s indeed a star studded line up.

Recently, Vijay Sethupathy had met Mani Ratnam at his office to discuss about this project. The director was also present for the press meet function of Dulquer’s Solo. So there are reports that they are taking this ambitious project forward.

It must be noted that among this big line up, only Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathy have not previously worked with Mani Ratnam. Interestingly enough, both these incredible actors are also part of National Award winner Thiagaraja Kuamararaja’s upcoming movie titled as Aneethi Kathaigal.

All the four actors have a good market in the South especially Dulquer and Vijay Sethupathy. If Mani Ratnam manages to get all four of them on board, it will be nothing short of a dream come true moment. The legendary filmmaker’s last release Kaatru Veliyidai, a highly anticipated love story starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari, was a disappointing affair at the box office. So the director will be itching to get back to some much needed success. It was already confirmed that Santhosh Sivan will be cranking the camera and AR Rahman will be scoring the music for the director’s next.

Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Arvind Swamy and Vijay Sethupathy together on screen. This can’t get any better. But lets wait for an official confirmation from the director’s side.

That one scene in the film where my character is told that he is not the real father of his child registered in people’s minds than the award as Perariyathavar wasn’t a commercial film. From then on, the roles started pouring in.”
