Janam TV review labels Angamaly Diaries as a Christian movie; Social media flooded with series of trolls

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Angamaly Diaries is the latest talk of M Town. The film is getting unanimously positive reviews. Appreciation is flowing in from all corners to the director and his youthful team. Celebrities like Mohanlal and Prithviraj have written high about the movie in their Facebook pages.

While ther reports are largely positive, Janam TV have published an article that is going viral in social medias. The reviewer has called Angamaly Diaries as a Christian movie. He has pointed out the repeated visuals of churches of Angamaly while there’s no mention about a ‘temple’ in Angamaly.

Lijo Jose Pellissery has been criticised in the review for trying to feed in Christianity through his movies. The reviewer, Ranjith G Kanjirathil has also mentioned about Lijo’s earlier movie Amen, where a saint arrives in the form of a priest to unite the lead couple.

According to Ranjith, Angamaly Diaries is a story of a group of criminals told with the glory of a French revolution. He alleged that a criminal underworld is developing in Kerala and accused Malayalam cinema as the primary reason for that. Angamaly Diaries is Lijo Jose Pellissery’s contribution to that.

This review published by Janam TV has faced severe backlash in social medias. Netizens have criticized the media group for publishing such a controversial and nonsensical article in the name of a review. Social medias are flooded with trolls against Janam TV and their review of Angamaly Diaries.

Oppam will not compete for the National Awards : Priyadarshan

We had earlier reported that ace filmmaker Priyadarshan will chair the jury for the 64th National Film Awards. The director has been in the industry for over three decades.

He has carved a niche for himself in the Indian film industry. The director has made over 90 movies in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The government of India honoured him by giving the Padma Shri in 2012 for his contribution towards cinema. Some of his movies like Kalapani, Kaanchivaram and more recently Sila Samayangalil have won several accolades at the national and international level.

The director’s last film was Oppam with superstar Mohanlal in the lead. The movie was both critically and commercially acclaimed. It is currently the second highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time.

In a recent media interaction, Priyadarshan said that Oppam will not be competing at the National film awards. The director withdrew the movie from competing, after he was appointed as the chairman of the jury.

Mohanlal fans were hoping for the actor to bag the Kerala State Film Award for his performance in Oppam, however the jury honored Vinayakan for his performance in Kammattipadam.

In Oppam, Mohanlal played the role of a blind lift operator who is on the run to protect a girl from serial killer. Oppam’s Jayaraman was Mohanlal’s first full fledged role as a blind person in his three decade long career. He garnered widespread appreciation for his performance in the movie. Though his role in Oppam is a far cry from some of his own terrific performances, it is one of his best in recent times.

Those who called Vinayakan as arrogant should watch this video

For the last few days, social media is flooded with posts about Vinayakan and his success after he won the Kerala State Film Award for the best actor. The actor won the award for his performance as Ganga in the movie Kammattipadam.

After the awards were announced, media persons followed their routine of flocking the actor’s house to get an exclusive interview. However, they were in for a surprise this time. Contrary to the usual sugar-coated sophisticated talks, they were greeted by someone very unrefined and brutally honest. Vinayakan was his usual self and did not have any kind of starry air. He spoke his mind and answered all the questions blatantly. He did not want the dramatic laddu-eating or posing with the family for the next day newspaper front page columns.

However, a section of public labelled him as arrogant and pompous. But the reality is Vinayakan tried to be himself without any sort of gimmicky. Yesterday, during the press meet he himself cleared airs about the allegations against him for being arrogant.

Vinayakan said that the thought of having won a State Award crossed his mind for a matter of just ten minutes. After that he was again back to his usual self. He also talked about the need to be compassionate to each other and lashed out against moral policing.

I don’t support Kiss of Love but I am against moral policing: Tovino Thomas

Moral policing issues are on the rise in Kerala. Many incidents have been reported in the past few months were youngsters and couples have been attacked and humiliated. Recently, Shiv Sena activists lash young couples with cane in Marine Drive, Kochi. The issue has triggered widespread protests against moral policing.

Celebrities like Rima Kallingal, Vinayakan and Aashiq Abu have all raised their voice against the issue. Actor Tovino Thomas also expressed his aversion to moral policing. But his words somehow got twisted and it was reported that Tovino Thomas is supporting the Kiss of Love movement.

Tovino while talking to Onlookers Media has said, “I don’t support Kiss of Love movement but I am strictly against moral policing. It is pathetic that people stigmatize love as something more dangerous than rapes. Where were these people during rapes and assaults against women? Why didn’t they react then?

The actor continued, “Who are they to determine whether the couples were doing anything immodest? Even if their conduct was so, is shooting their videos and spreading it to the public the right kind of moral policing? Ideally, their parents should be informed and try to make them understand the seriousness of the issue.”

“Recently, I talked about all this in a press meet, but the video was edited before posting in social medias. I want everyone to see what I actually said during the press meet”, added Tovino Thomas.

Here we attach the video of Tovino’s talk in the press meet.
