No competition between me and Mammootty : Mohanlal

Mohanlal and Mammootty are without any doubt the biggest superstars of Malayalam film industry. Over two decades, fans of both the actors have been arguing over who the better actor is and who the bigger star is. But all that doesn’t seem to affect the big Ms as they continue to amaze the audience with their stunning performances every now and then.

Recently, Mohanlal was asked whether there exists any competition between them, he said, “Healthy competition? There was never a competition between us. We have acted in 54 movies together. Chances of us competing for a movie now are also few because we have plenty of films.”

The actor said that both of them different spaces in the industry. He said, “Roles that come to Mammootty are not meant for me and vice versa. I would never say we have competed against each other unless we are acting in the same movie and are putting genius performances to outwit each other,”

Mohanlal is going through a golden phase with three back to back successes in Malayalam. Oppam, Pulimurugan and now his latest release Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol have all been well received by the audience. Pulimurugan became the first Malayalam movie to enter the 100 crore club. And the actor has already committed for some exciting projects- 1971 : Beyond Borders, Randamoozham, untitled movie with Priyadarshan, a thriller with B Unnikrishnan and Lucifer with Prithviraj Sukumaran.

On the other hand, Mammootty is going through a lean patch. But the actor has some highly anticipated projects in his kitty- The Great Father, Puthan Panam with director Ranjith, a family entertainer with Nadirshah etc.
