Mohanlal starrer movie Vismayam, which is the Malayalam dubbed version of his Telugu Film Manamantha is released here on last Friday. The film had got superb reviews from all over and appreciations are flowing in from every corner of the state for the movie. People from film industries, critics and common people alike praising this movie and the performance of Mohanlal is getting stunning response from all over.

The box office response of the film is also very good here when we consider the fact that it is a dubbed movie. As per the reports coming in from trade guides in the industry, the film had grossed 68 lakhs on day one. The multiplexes from Ernakulam contributed near 3.5 Lakhs on day. It had only 18 shows there on day one.

Vismayam came near that figure and it is a great achievement when we consider the fact that the flick is not a mass movie and just a feel good family movie. The star power of Mohanlal made this happen for Vismayam here in Mollywood.

From second day onwards the theater status gone high and expecting a better gross on day 2. Family audience had receiving the movie with both hands as well.

Now a report is coming in that popular Telugu and Tamil actor Rana Daggubati who shot to fame through the Villain role in the magnum opus Baahubali is all set to make his Mollywood debut this year. As per reports coming in, he will be seen playing an important role in the next Major Ravi directorial movie in which Super Star Mohanlal playing the lead role. Mohanlal will be playing Major Mahadevan again in this war film based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The shoot of this movie will begin after Mohanlal completes his movie with Jibu Jacob, which is now going on at Calicut. Rana Daggubati is now acting in Baahubali 2 and he had also played the lead in the Tamil version of Malayalam blockbuster Bangalore Days.

The Major Ravi movie is now tentatively titled as 1971 War, will be made on a grand scale and it will shoot in the actual military areas in Punjab and Rajasthan. As per reports, the film may have an overseas schedule. Reports saying that Major Ravi had got the permission to shoot the movie in important military areas in India in this coming September and he is all set to finish those portions in 30 days time. It will be an emotional story, but will have tank fight sequences as well in it.

Mohanlal reportedly playing dual characters in this movie and it will be the 5th movie of Major Ravi in which Mohanlal playing the lead. Sujith Vasudev may crank the camera for this movie.

Super Star Rajinikanth starrer Kabali is creating new records in Kerala box office. This Pa Renjith movie had made many records right from the releasing day here. It had broken many records here set by Vikram’s I and even Baahubali. Now as per the latest collection report of the movie, it had surpassed the life time gross earned by Enthiran from Kerala.

Now, Kabali is the second biggest other language grosser here in Kerala box office after Vikram- Shankar team’s movie I. In 14 days time, Kabali had collected more than 15.31 crores from Kerala and it had surpassed the 15.3 crore figure earned by Enthiran few years back.

Vikram-Shankar team’s I had grossed over 19 crores from here. Kabali had surpassed Bahubali lifetime gross from here as well. Baahubali had grossed around 14.25 crores from Kerala. Mollywood Super Star Mohanlal had distributed Kabali in Kerala and they had bought the rights of this movie for a whopping price of 7.5 crores. The share they got from two weeks collection of Kabali is 7 crores and now it is damn sure that they will earn a very good profit.

Kabali had earlier set the first day collection record here surpassing the record of I and also set a new record in Ernakulam multiplex gross.

Ann Maria Kalippilanu aka Aan Maria Kalippilaanu is one among the 3 releases that graced Mollywood today. The flick is directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas and scripted by the director himself in association with John Manthirichal. The film is produced by Alice George under the banner of Goodwill entertainments. Sunny Wayne, Baby Sara Arjun, Aju Varghese etc played the lead characters in this movie. This is the second venture of Midhun Manuel Thomas as a director after Aadu Oru Beekara Jeeviayanu which released last year. The posters and trailer of this movie got great response before its release and a song sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan also attracted the people towards this movie.

The plot of the movie revolves around Ann Maria as the title suggests. Baby Sara playing this character in the movie. Ann Maria is a 4th standard student and she wants to get first prize in high jump just like her father did years back. Her father is in Syria as a part of a camp and she is with her mother who is a doctor. But the villain in her life is the PT Master in her school. One day she lodges a complaint against PT Master to the principal and that makes him to turn against her. He deliberately disqualify her while she participates in High Jump competition and takes his revenge against her. She becomes furious with that and wants to take her revenge upon him. She decided to find someone who can give some body blows to the PT Master. Her search takes her to a local fraudster named Poombatta Gireesh played by Sunny Wayne.

We can say that Midhun Manuel Thomas had succeeded in doing a movie which is very much better than his maiden venture Aadu Oru Beekara Jeeviayanu, which released last year. Midhun Manuel Thomas and John had jointly wrote a screenplay which is an average one in terms of its quality and he executed it decently. Even though there was lagging in the narration, he managed somehow to make the audience to sit through. There was nothing special in the screenplay, but it was not bad either. The absence of a strong plot really affected the movie. Even though the total narration lacked freshness, it managed to make the audience entertained to an extent.

The performances from artist were decent. Sunny Wayne as Poombatta Gireesh, had done a good Job and Baby Sara done a decent job as well. Artists like Aju Varghese, Leona Shinoy, Saiju Kuruppu etc also done a good job and the guest role from Dulquer Salmaan got great appreciation from the audience. But the real show stealers in this flick is Siddique and Biju Kuttan. Siddique was terrific in emotional scenes and sometimes he will make us remind about that vintage Siddique which we saw in films like Lelam. Biju Kuttan also made the audience laugh heart out in some sequences.

The film has only one song and it was good. But the background scoring was not that good. Shan Rahman had tuned the song and background scoring was done by Sooraj S Kuruppu. Visuals from Vishnu Sharma was decent and Lijo Paul’s editing was also neat.

In total, Aan Mariya Kalippilanu is a onetime watchable flick which will not let you down, if you go without much expectation.

Manamantha / Vismayam Review

Vismayam is the latest release here in Mollywood which is the Malayalam version of a Telugu film named Manamantha starring Mollywood Super Star Mohanlal and Gauthami. National award winning director named Chandra Sekhar Yeleti had scripted and directed this movie which has a Tamil version as well named Namdhu. This flick has been produced by Sai Korapatti under the popular banner in Tollywood named Varaahi Chalana Chithra. Vismayam had become one of the eagerly awaited movie here, as it is after 9 months that a Mohanlal movie is releasing here. The trailer, teaser and songs of the movie also got great response from the viewers and that also made people to wait for this movie.

The plot of this movie revolves around 4 characters played by Mohanlal, Gauthami, Raina Rao and Viswant. Mohanlal plays an assistant manager in a super market and his character name is Sairam. Gauthami plays a house wife named Gayathri, Raina Rao plays a school girl named Mahita and Viswant plays a college student named Abhiram. The plot moves through the lives of these four characters. Sairam wants to be the manager of the super market in which he is working as he is going through financial problems. Gayatri wants a stable and respectful life. Mahita is a school girl who always wants to help others and she helps a boy from the streets to be enrolled in school. Abhiram is a college student who has certain goals in life, but he falls in love with a girl which changes his life.

Chandra Sekhar Yeleti is always known for his quality films and the different striking themes he presents through his movies. Once again he becomes successful in giving us a movie that has great quality in its content and at the same time entertains us as well. The screenplay by him was fresh and fabulous and the way he narrated the plot telling 4 different stories that represents different stages of life was just superb. They way conceived the emotional scenes and used the artists was also fantastic and he really become successful in touching the heart of the audience with the dialogues. The manner in which he connected the four different stories at the end was quite masterful. The scripting of this movie was just terrific to say the least. The climax portion was fantabulous and how he he narrated the story to reach the unexpected climax was really awesome.

The performance from each and every artists made this movie to go to another level in its quality. Mohanlal as Sairam was just stunning. This character is one of the best from him in the recent years and the way he presented this character was just fantabulous. The subtle way in which he presented the joy, anxieties, vulnerabilities, apprehensions etc of Sairam was just wonderful and this character may help him to get some big recognitions in his career.

Gauthami as Gayathri also given a really matured and controlled performance and she was perfectly fit into the character of the housewife. Viswant and Raina Rao also did a very good job in the movie and along with them, artists like Urvashi, P Balachandran, Joy Mathew, Anisha Ambrose, Nassar etc also done a great job in the movie.
Rahul Srivastav had set some realistic and pleasant frames for the movie and Mahesh Shankar’s music contributed really well to take the plot forward in smooth pace. G V Chandra Shekhar had provided neat and smooth cuts for the film.

Vismayam is a quality entertainer which has life in it. You all can identify the characters and connect with them as well. Only a few films can make you feel what is happening in it in your heart and Vismayam is such a film. It will be a rollercoaster ride of emotions which tells our own story and without any doubt, we can say that Vismayam is one of the best movies released here in this year. Don’t Miss it, it’s just mesmerizing.

Years back, his movie Kalapani directed by Priyadarshan had achieved that feat. No other stars from Kerala had got more than 2 language release of their movies on a single day till now. Mohanlal movie Vismayam is releasing in 3 languages on the same day.

It will release in Telugu as Manamantha and in Tamil as Namadhu along with the Malayalam version named Vismayam. Not only in India, but also in overseas market, all 3 versions of the movie will be released. But, people are waiting to see another history repeating again with this movie. Gauthami is playing the female lead in Vismayam and it is her 3rd film with Mohanlal in her entire career.
