Fahadh was the first choice for OK Kanmani
OK Kanmani is the latest film directed by the Master Director of Indian Cinema, none other than Mani Ratnam. The film is unique in a way that Mani Ratnam is doing an out and out romantic film after so many years. His last outing in this category was ‘Alaipaayuthe’ starring Madhavan and Shalini. The film also in the news for the re-union of Mani Ratnam and P C Sreeram and when music maestro AR Rahaman also joins the team, we can’t ask for anything better as a viewer.
The lead pair in the film is quite interesting as it is Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menon. Dulquer Salmaan, the son of Mega star Mammootty is a rising Young talent from Mollywood and Nithya Menon also is an actress who had made her mark through Mollywood films. It is a dream for every actor in Indian cinema to work in a Mani Ratnam film and Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menon had got that dream opportunity very early in their career. The trailer of the film which is released recently had already made waves in the social Medias and the hope on the film had raised to the next level with the success of that teaser.
But there are some interesting facts behind the casting of the male lead of the film. For Mani Ratnam, The first choice for the male lead of this film is none other than Fahadh Fazil, another young and upcoming actor and star from Mollywood. Fahadh fazil is well known in Mollywood for his easy acting and bold choice of films. He had already won the state award for best actor for his performance in the Shyama Prasad Directorial film named ‘Artist’.
Mani Ratnam had approached Fahadh fazil to do the lead role in OK Kanmani. But Fahad is very busy with the projects he had committed earlier and cannot be able to accept the dream opportunity to do a Mani Ratnam film. The second choice for the male lead was Telugu star Ram Charan Teja. But later Mani Ratnam realized that Ram Charan is not suitable for the character. Then he went to Dulquer Salmaan and the rest is History. The film is all set to release in the Coming Month and all are waiting to see the Mani Ratnam magic on Celluloid, this time along with Mollywood’s own Dulquer Salmaan.
Mammootty-Dulquer war in Box office coming soon
Mega star Mammootty is all set to have a box office war with his own son Dulquer Salmaan on this vishu season. The chances of a Mammootty- Dulquer box office war is very high as films of both father and son is getting ready to hit the screen on this season without much gap in the dates of release. The films that is going in the battle field is Mammootty’s ‘Bhaskar The rascal’ and Dulquer’s ‘Ok Kanmani’.
Mammootty’s vishu flick is directed by hit maker Siddique and Dulquer’s hope in this season is helmed by none other than Maniratnam, the maestro of Indian cinema. The shooting of Siddique- Mammootty team’s ‘Bhaskar the rascal’ is in its final stages and along with the shooting of the film its post-production works and dubbing also going on with the plan to release it in this vishu season itself. Even though it is not confirmed, the reports says that ‘Bhaskar the rascal’ will hit the screens all over on April 10th.
At same time Dulquer-Nithya Menon_Maniratnam team’s ‘OK kanmani’ is already finalized the date of its release as April 14th and the trailer of the film had already become viral in social Medias and Youtube. Nayanthara is playing the female lead opposite Mammootty in the Siddique film and Nithya menon is the female lead of Dulquer Salman in ‘OK Kanmani’.
Both films have generated great hype and hope among the film lovers and it will be highly interesting watch the outing of two master directors along with two actors who is father and son as well as representing two different eras in our Film Industry. Mammootty has acted in Maniratnam’s film many years back and it was ‘Thalapathy’ along with Rajinikanth.
That time it was a super hit film and people are eagerly waiting to if his son Dulquer can repeat the success which his father had gave through his only Maniratnam film. The stage is all set for the interesting battle of father and son at box office and let’s keep our fingers crossed for both of them as both are our own pride and we wishing success to both films.

Enakkul Oruvan Review
The remake of the Kannada movie Lucia, ‘Enakul Oruvan’ in Tamil hasn’t done much justice to the original. Yes, and when a retake of the movie is done the original take is always in the comparison. Starting with the characters- Siddharth plays the lead role. He plays the role of Vicky and Vignesh. The actor we saw in Kaaviya Thalaivan with a one word glamorous to describe is in a de-glam for the role Vicky. He is in a tanned makeup. Well for the audience sometimes it’s not the character played but the de-glam make up their stars put on, is where the attention goes. The female role is played by Deepa Samidhi as Divya. Deepa Samidhi is portrayed well and her acting skills tell it all.
Next coming to the story the characters Vicky and Vignesh are dichotomously played by Siddharth. While Vicky is portrayed as a loser, Vignesh is a superstar. The movie can be aptly called “a waking dream wish fulfillment”. Vicky suffers from sleeplessness in the start and so Vajravelu(John Vijay) a scientist offers him a pill Lucia.
Lucia helps Vicky sleep well and it makes him dream about the life he wants to live. He is taken into a life where he is Vignesh and is living a life of a superstar. While Vicky is shy to tell his love to Divya, his transition into Vignesh makes Divya his. The story unfolds and somewhere in between Vignesh happens to look at a mirror and see Vicky in it, and then he again slips back into reality.
Yes at the end, the audience stands up to say that this stuff happens only in the movies but the way the story is projected make the audience glued to it. The director of the movie has tried hard to stick close to the original but if you have watched Lucia you will find a number of potholes. Keeping the comparison apart, ‘Enukul Oruvan’ is a good attempt. For a genre of this kind, screenplay and photography has a lot to do with. Screenplay and photography has scored an average. The song Prabhalamagavey and other background music is done well and is a highlight. On a positive note, the movie by itself is a good attempt.

Malayalam cinema is witnessing the flow of young talents into various fields of film making including acting, direction, screen writing, music department and also many other technical departments. There is also some interesting change over happening in our industry like people who already showed their talents in one field and people who are already established in the industry as a specialist in one particular stream is trying their hands at the literary side of film making. Recently actor disco raveendran had wrote story for the Sathyan Anthikad- Mohanlal-Manju Warrier film named Ennum Eppozhum (which will release on March 27) scripted by Renjan Pramod.
This time it is the turn of young and growing music director Ratheesh Vega and as per reports he is all set to try his hand in screen writing for a film. According to the news reports coming in Ratheesh Vega has already completed his script which he has been writing for the past two years. Director Rajesh Nair will be directing this movie.
Report says that actor/producer Vijay Babu and young star Asif Ali will play the lead roles in the film. Ratheesh Vega’s debut film as a script writer will begin only after the completion of Rajesh Nair’s current project which he is been doing with none other than Biju Menon in the lead. Another interesting news heard associated with this film is that the festival of all festivals in Kerala, The Thrissur Pooram will be shot live for the film as it has an integral part to play in the film.
Ratheesh vega has established himself as one of the most talented young music director in Mollywood through films like Cocktail, Beautiful, Run Baby Run etc and he has given great hit songs like “Mazhaneer thullikal..” from beautiful, “Aattu Manal Paayayail..” from Run Baby Run and “Neeyam thanalinu thazhe” from Cocktail etc. Aatu Manal Paayayil was considered as one of the biggest hit ever in Mollywood music industry and the song was sung by none other than Mohanlal, The complete actor.

Arvind Swamy coming back to Mollywood
Aravind Swamy , one of the most talented actor in south Indian film industry after a long gap coming back to Malayalam film industry. It was 19 years back that he had acted in Malayalam film. It was in 1996 that his last Malayalam film got released which was Devaragam directed by the late Maestro Bharathan. In Devaragam, Aravind Swamy played the lead role along with the acting queen of Indian cinema Sreedevi. Before that film Aravind Swamy acted in another Malayalam film named ‘Anna’ directed by Joshiey in 1995 which unfortunately not got released. His first Mollywood film was ‘Daddy’ directed by Sangeeth Sivan which was released in the year 1992. And the film also had Suresh Gopi and Gauthami in key roles along with Aravind Swamy.
According to the latest report Aravind swamy all set to do the male laed in the upcoming mollywood film directed by hit maker Arun Kumar Aravind and scripted by none other than Sankar Rama Krishnan. The film will have Murali gopi as well. The female leads in the film will be done by Manju warrier, Urvashi and Revathy. Aravind Swamy will be paired opposite Manu Warrier in this film and it will great to see two higly talented artists coming together on silver screen for the very first time. The movie is untitled as of now and the title will be announced very soon.
After doing a cameo role in Mani Ratnam’s tamil film Alaipaayuthe starred Madhavan and shalini in the year 2000, he took a long break from the film industry and acting career to look after his business interests and he made a came back into film industry through Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Kadal which got released in 2013 and he played a very important role in that film. He is doing films more often now and currently he is busy in the sets of a Tamil film named ‘Thani Oruvan’ and along with him Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara playing the lead roles in that film.
Anyway it will be very interesting and happy for Mollywood film lovers to see Aravind swamy again on Malayalam who used to be a heartthrob in 90’s.

Roopeth Peethambaran who had won the critics appreciation with his first film Theevram starring Dulquar salman is all set this time to win the race of Box-office as well with his latest offer You Too Brutus starring Actor/writer/director Sreenivasan, Young star Asif Ali and upcoming young talent Tolvino Thomas, Honey Rose, Rachana Narayanankutty. As per the latest report the movie will hit the screens all over on March 20, 2015.
Roopesh’s first film Theevarm which got released few years back has got good opinion from critics but the film failed to ring the money bells and ended as a box office failure much to the dismay of the debutant director. So this time he is all prepared to make amends of what has happened with his first film and all set to deliver a commercial out and out entertainer which also has thrilling elements in it. His debut film Theevram was noted for the patter of its narration, its colur tone and other technical aspects which a kind of fresh in Mollywood at that time and the performance of Dulquer Salmaan was also looked very good and different from his cliché roles.
The first song of the film which had released few days back has already become a hit. Asif Ali’s character name in this film is Abhi and Sreenivasan plays the character of his elder brother named Hari. Both brothers are lived very peacefully together just before Abhi fell in love with a girl and that creates some problems between the brothers and eventually Abhi leaves the house where his brother leaves. Hari then accommodates 3 paying guests in his house and the three young men came there as paying guests plots a golden conspiracy against Hari and Hari is very well cheated by those youngsters. That forms the crux of the story and from there the drama kicks starts.
We have to wait till March 20 to see what happens in the life of Hari and how Abhi comes back to the life of his brother and also what is the real motive of those 3 youngsters. Director assured that this one will be very different from his first affair Theevram.
