OTT release date Keerthy Suresh- Tovino starrer Vaashi is here

The Tovino Thomas-Keerthy Suresh starrer ‘Vaashi’ is all set for its OTT release. The film will start streaming on Netflix from July 17. The film will be available for streaming in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.

‘Vaashi’ is a legal drama in which both Tovino and Keerthy play lawyers. After getting married, circumstances force the couple to go face-to-face in a legal battle. The film deals with the topic of ‘consent’ with Keerthy’s character Madhavi appearing for the woman, and Tovino’s Ebin advocating for the man.

‘Vaashi’ is directed by newcomer Vishnu G Raghav. He has also penned the screenplay based on Janiz Chacko Simon’s story. The cast includes Anu Mohan, ‘Thinakalazhcha Nishchayam’ fame Anagha, Sreelakshmi, Divya George, Nandu, Baiju Santhosh, Rony, Kottayam Ramesh, and Maya Viswanath.

Keerthy Suresh’s father Suresh Kumar has produced the film with her mother Menaka Suresh and sister Revathy Suresh as co-producers. The film got released in theatres on June 17. Though critic reviews were largely positive, it had to settle with lukewarm response from the general audience.

Release date of Sai Pallavi’s Gargi announced

Sai Pallavi’s upcoming multilingual film ‘Gargi’ has been confirmed for July 15 release. Gautham Ramachandran, who made his debut with the Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Richie’, is directing the film. Made originally in Tamil, it is also set to be dubbed and released in Telugu and Kannada.

‘Gargi’, said to be a legal drama, has Sai Pallavi playing a middle class woman’s role, who fights against the system. The film also stars Kaali Venkat, Kalesh Ramanand in prominent roles. Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi is turning a producer with ‘Gargi’. She is backing it along with the film’s director Gautham, Ravichandran Ramachandran and Thomas George. Govind Vasantha is the film’s music director and cinematography is by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkattu. Edits are handled by Shafique Mohamed Ali.

2D Entertainment, headed by actors Suriya and Jyotika, will be presenting ‘Gargi’.

Vijay Deverakonda’s new Liger look goes viral

Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming pan-Indian film ‘Liger’ is getting ready to hit screens on August 25. Meanwhile, the actor shared a new still from the film in which he is seen semi-naked with a bunch of rose bouquets hiding his modesty. The actor sports a chiselled physique in the picture.

Directed by Puri Jagganadh, ‘Liger’ is an action-thriller in which Vijay Deverakonda plays a kick boxer’s role. As part of preparations for the film, the actor underwent a major physical transformation and martial arts training.

Bollywood actress Ananya Panday plays the female lead. American boxing legend Mike Tyson is playing a cameo role in the film. It also stars Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Makarand Deshpande and Vishu Reddy in important roles.

Karan Johar is presenting the Hindi version of ‘Liger’. Charmee Kaur, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta are also part of the production. The film has been planned to be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

First look of Pa Ranjith’s next with Kalidas to be out tomorrow

The first look poster of Pa Ranjith’s new film is set to be released tomorrow (July 6). Said to be titled ‘Natchathiram Nagarhirathu’, the film stars ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ fame Dushara, Kalaiyarasan and Kalidas Jayaram as the leads. Harikrishnan and ‘Dancing Rose’ Shabeer Kallarakkal will also be seen in prominent roles. As per trustworthy reports, the film set in the backdrop of Tamil theater scene explores multiple facets of love, including straight and LGBTQ romances.

‘Natchathiram Nagarhirathu’ has music scored by Tenma and cinematography by Kishor Kumar. The film is jointly bankrolled by Neelam Productions and Yaazhi Films. The film targets a July release.

Pa Ranjith meanwhile also is prepping up for his upcoming film with Vikram, which is set to begin this month. Set in the backdrop of Kolar Gold fields, Karnataka, the film revolves around miners who discover gold in the 19th century. Ranjith’s Neelam Productions and Studio Green are jointly backing the film. The director is also in talks with Kamal Haasan for a Madurai-based film.

Though the release of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaduva is still in doubts, the makers are going ahead with active promotions. A promo song ‘Pala Palli’ has just been released. Athul Narukara has sung the track which has lyrics by Santhosh Varma and Sreehari Tharayil.

‘Kaduva’ was originally supposed to hit screens on June 30 but had to be postponed at the last moment. Though the makers are eyeing for release on July 7, it has not yet been confirmed. Prithviraj is also producing the film along with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

Kaduva directed by Shaji Kailas is touted to be an action packed mass entertainer. Jinu V Abraham has scripted the film, which is set in the 90s. It has Prithviraj playing a character named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. Vivek Oberoi plays the antagonist’s role of an IPS officer. While Samyuktha Menon plays the role of Prithviraj’s wife, Priyanka Nair essays the part of Vivek Oberoi’s wife. Arjun Ashokan, Baiju and Alencier Ley Lopez are also part of the cast.

We had earlier reported about Kunchacko Boban teaming up with Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ fame for a new film titled ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’. Last day, the makers released its teaser online. It is one of the most promising teasers to have come out in recent times. The film, billed as a satirical courtroom drama, has Kunchacko Boban playing a thief named Kozhummal Rajeevan.

Sharing the teaser on his social media handles, the actor wrote,

It also has around 60 newcomers as part of the cast. Santhosh T Kuruvilla is producing the film with Kunchacko Boban, and Sherin Rachel Santhosh as the co-producers.

The makers have announced August 12 as the release date.

Fahadh Faasil’s new film ‘Malayankunju’ has been in the making for a while. The film is directed by debutant Sajimon, who has assisted many senior directors. Mahesh Narayanan, who had directed Fahadh in ‘Take Off’, ‘Malik’ and ‘CU Soon’, has scripted the film. He is also debuting as a cinematographer with this film.

If reports are to be believed, Malayankunju is gearing up for a direct release on Amazon Prime Video during this Onam season. Fahadh’s last few outings in Malayalam — ‘CU Soon’, ‘Joji’, ‘Malik’ and ‘Irul’ have all been OTT releases. His last Malayalam film to be released in theatres was ‘Trance’ in February 20, 2020.

‘Malayankunju’ is a landslide-based survival thriller landsidles. Maestro AR Rahman is scoring music for the film. It is his third Malayalam film after ‘Yodha’, and the yet-to-be-released ‘Aadujeevitham’.

The teaser of Alia Bhatt’s new film ‘Darlings’ has been released by Netflix. The film is set to have its premiere on the streaming platform on August 5. ‘Darlings’, a dark comedy, is set in a lower middle-class neighbourhood in Mumbai. It is a quirky mother-daughter story revolving around the two who discover love and courage in exceptional circumstances.

Debutant Jasmeet K Reen is directing the film. Alia Bhatt and Shefali play the lead roles. Vijay Varma is paired with Alia in the film. Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew, who made his Bollywood debut last this year with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Choked’, is essaying a prominent role.

As the first part of the Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ gears up for release on September 30, 2022, the makers have started the promotions. In the first round, posters of all major characters in the film are planned to be revealed. After Vikram as Aditya Karikalan, a new poster featuring Karthi has been released. He is playing the role of Vanthiyathevan in the film. Similar to Vikram, he is also sporting long hair and beard, while royally riding a horse.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on the historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. It tells the story of early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola emperor, Raja Raja Chola I. Jayam Ravi plays the titular role. The cast also includes Trisha, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram Prabhu, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Babu Antony, Riyaz Khan, Kishore, Jayaram, Rahman, Lal and Ashwin Kakumanu.

Lucifer remake: First look and glimpse of Chiranjeevi’s Godfather out

The first look and glimpse of Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Godfather’ has been released. The film directed by Mohan Raja is the Telugu remake of Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer. The original starring Mohanlal was directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The first look of ‘Godfather’ has Chiranjeevi sporting a salt and pepper look, probably for the first time in his career. He can be seen stylishly sitting in a chair with his black shades on as he also gives a stern gaze in his formal attire. In the glimpse video, he is seen arriving in an ambassador car in slow motion. Thaman’s catching background score is another highlight.

‘Lucifer’, released in 2019, was a political thriller, which turned out to be a huge success. Actor Prithviraj made his directorial debut with the film and it was scripted by Murali Gopy. The makers are currently working on the pre-production of its second part, ‘Empuraan’.

‘Godfather’ is expected to have some changes to make it appealing to the Telugu audience. Nayanthara is essaying the role done by Manju Warrier and Satyadev is reprising Tovino’s role from the original. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is playing the cameo role done by Prithviraj.

‘Godfather’ has music scored by Thaman and is bankrolled by NVR Cinema, Megaa Super Good Films and Konidela Productions. The film has been confirmed as a Dussehra release.
