After Suriya, Rakshit Shetty picks up Sai Pallavi’s Gargi

It seems like Sai Pallavi’s upcoming multilingual film ‘Gargi’ is much in demand. After Suriya’s 2D Entertainment picked up the Tamil distribution rights, Rakshit Shetty has bagged the rights for the Kannada version. It is worth a mention that ‘Gargi’ director Gautham Ramachandran’s directorial debut ‘Richie’ was the remake of Rakshit’s ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’.

‘Gargi’, said to be a legal drama, has Sai Pallavi playing a middle class woman’s role, who fights against the system. The film also stars Kaali Venkat, Saravanan and Kalesh Ramanand in prominent roles. Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi is turning a producer with ‘Gargi’. She is backing it along with the film’s director Gautham, Ravichandran Ramachandran and Thomas George.

Govind Vasantha is the film’s music director and cinematography is by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkattu. Edits are handled by Shafique Mohamed Ali. The film has been confirmed for July 15 release in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

Ajay Devgn takes over as the director of his Kaithi remake, Bholaa

It is already known that Ajay Devgn is starring in the Hindi remake of superhit Tamil film ‘Kaithi’. The film titled ‘Bholaa’ initially went on floors with Dharmendra Sharma as the director. It has now been learnt that Ajay Devgn has taken over as the director. The actor has previously directed films like ‘U Me Aur Hum’, ‘Shivaay’ and the more recent ‘Runway 34’.

‘Kaithi’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj had Karthi as the lead. The film was a big success among both the critics and the common audience. It was praised by many for being a pure action film sans any unnecessary hindrances like songs, romance or a seperate comedy track. The makers have already announced that its sequel.

It is the learnt that the remake version, ‘Bholaa’, has been tweaked to make it appealing to the Hindi audience. Tabu will be playing the cop’s role essayed by Narain in the original. Dream Warrior Pictures, the original producers, are teaming up with Reliance Entertainment and Ajay Devgn’s banner to produce ‘Bholaa’.

Kunchacko Boban’s next, ‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ with Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ will hit screens on August 12. The makers announced the release date along with sharing the teaser. It is one of the most promising teasers to have come out in recent times. The film, billed as a satirical courtroom drama, has Kunchacko Boban playing a thief named Kozhummal Rajeevan.

‘Nna Thaan Case Kodu’ also stars Vinay Forrt, Tamil actress Gayathrie Shankar of ‘Super Deluxe’ fame, Saiju Kurup, Rajesh Madhavan, and Jaffer Idukki will also be seen in major roles. Around 60 newcomers are also part of the cast. Santhosh T Kuruvilla is producing the film with Kunchacko Boban, and Sherin Rachel Santhosh as the co-producers.

Kunchacko Boban also has Mahesh Narayanan’s ‘Ariyippu’, ‘Rendagam’/’Ottu’, ‘Enthada Saji’ and ‘Pakalum Paathiravum’ lined up for release.

We had earlier reported about Soubin Shahir playing the lead in ‘Elaveezhapoonchira’, a cop thriller. Shahi Kabir, who scripted Joseph and Nayattu, is making his directorial debut with this film. The makers have announced its release date. Producer Vishnu Venu, who also backed ‘Kappela’, took to his social media handle to announce the release plans. He has written,

It is with immense joy that I announce the release date of Elaveezhapoonchira as July 15, 2022.

The trailer of ‘Elaveezhapoonchira’ was released recently and it looked highly promising. From the trailer, it looks like the story revolves around cops stationed at Elaveezhapoonchira, a remote hilly area in Kottayam. Soubin plays a cop in the film and the trailer has glimpses of him going through a wide range of emotions. It also stars Sudhy Kopa, Jude Antony Joseph, Vincent Vadakkan and Jithu Ashraf in supporting roles.

‘Elaveezhapoonchira’ has its story penned by Nidhish G. He has also written the screenplay along with Shaji Maraad. Manesh Madhavan is the cinematography and Kiran Das is the editor. Anil Johnson is composing the film’s music.

It has been announced that Tovino’s ‘Dear Friend’ will have its digital premiere on Netflix on July 10. Exactly a week later, on July 17, the actor’s ‘Vaashi’ will also be released on the same platform.

‘Dear Friend’ directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Vineeth Kumar is a psychological drama revolving around a bunch of friends in Bangalore. The film is scripted by ‘Thanmathra’ fame Arjun Lal, Suhas and Sharfu. Tovino, Basil Joseph, Darshana Rajendran, ‘Pada’ fame Arjun Radhakrishnan, Arjun Lal and Tamil actress Sanchana Natarajan play the major roles.

‘Dear Friend’ has a strong technical team lead by DOP Shyju Khalid, music composer Justin Varghese and editor Deepu Joseph. Shyju Khalid has produced the film along with Sameer Thahir and Ashiq Usman.

Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ is among the most awaited films in recent times. The massive success of the first part has heightened the expectations to a whole new level. Latest buzz is that Vijay Sethupathi is in talks to play the antagonist in the sequel. Though Fahadh Faasil is already part of the film as the evil cop Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, the makers are trying to make it bigger by bringing in Vijay Sethupathi as another antagonist. The actor is currently trying to accommodate his dates.

It is worth a mention that it was Vijay Sethupathi who was originally supported to play Shekhawat’s role in ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. However, the actor couldn’t find dates then and he had to opt out of the project. He later went on to play the antagonist in Sukumar’s production venture Uppena.

The second single from Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming trilingual film ‘Sita Ramam’ has been released. The song composed by Vishal Chandrashekhar is out in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. In Telugu, the track titled ‘Inthandham’ is sung by SPB Charan and written by Krishnakanth. The Tamil version ‘Kurumugil’ is penned by Madhan Karky and sung by Sai Vignesh. In Malayalam, the song is written by Vinayak Sasikumar and sung by Sooraj Santhosh.

Directed by Telugu filmmaker Hanu Raghavapudi of ‘Padi Padi Leche Manasu’ fame, ‘Sita Ramam’ is touted to be a period love story. It has Dulquer playing an army officer named Lieutenant Ram. While Mrunal Thakur is paired with Dulquer in the film, Rashmika Mandanna essays another important role named Afreen. Director Gautham Vasudev Menon is also part of the cast.

Swapna Cinema is producing ‘Sita Ramam’ and Priyanka Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies will be presenting it. The film is slated to hit screens on August 5.

After a lot of confusions, it has been confirmed that the release of Prithviraj’s ‘Kaduva’ is on track. The film will be hitting screens on July 7, as per plans. Last day, Prithviraj took to his social media handle to announce that the film’s censoring has been cleared with a U/A certificate. Bookings have also been opened across all centres.

‘Kaduva’ is gearing up for release amidst major hype. The film originally supposed to hit screens on June 30 but had to be postponed at the last moment due to a legal issue. The film directed by Shaji Kailas is said to be loosely based on a real-life person. Scripted by Jinu V Abraham, the film is touted to be an action packed mass entertainer.

It has Prithviraj playing a character named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. Vivek Oberoi plays the antagonist’s role of an IPS officer. While Samyuktha Menon plays the role of Prithviraj’s wife, Priyanka Nair essays the part of Vivek Oberoi’s wife. Arjun Ashokan, Baiju and Alencier Ley Lopez are also part of the cast.

Prithviraj is producing the film along with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

The makers of Vikram’s ‘Cobra’ have released a new song ‘Uyir Urugudhey’. AR Rahman has song and composed the track, which is a soulful melody. Thamarai has penned the lyrics. Earlier, two other songs — ‘Thumbi Penne’ and ‘Adheera’ were released and got good response.

Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu of ‘Imaikka Nodigal’ fame, ‘Cobra’ is a big budget mass entertainer shot in various countries. The film will have Vikram appearing in multiple looks. It also has a huge star cast comprising of actors from various languages. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is making his acting debut with this film. He essays the role of French Interpol officer Aslan Yilmaz.

‘KGF’ fame Srinidhi Shetty is the female lead. KS Ravikumar, Roshan Mathew, Miya George, Mammukoya, Sarjano Khalid, Manikandan Achari, Mirnalini Ravi and many others are part of the cast. AR Rahman has composed music for the film, which is produced by Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studios. The makers have already announced August 11 as the release date.
