Rocketry is a must watch for youngsters: Rajinikanth

R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’ continues to get decent response. As a major booster for the makers, superstar Rajinikanth has come out praising the film. He has called it a ‘must watch’ film foe everyone, particularly the youngsters of the country. Rajini also praised Madhavan for proving excellent filmmaking skills in his first outing itself.

‘Rocketry’ is the biopic of famous scientist Nambi Narayanan. Madhavan has played his role and Simran essays his wife’s part. The film is about how Nambi Narayanan was accused in the ISRO espionage case and later exonerated. The story spans across his days as a graduate student at Princeton University, before exploring his work as a scientist and the false espionage charges placed upon him. It has been released in Tamil, Hindi and English languages.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya essay cameo roles in the Hindi and Tamil versions, respectively.

The first part of the Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ gears up for release on September 30, 2022. As announced by the makers themselves, they have started the promotions. In the first round, posters of all major characters in the film are planned to be revealed. A new poster introducing Vikram as Aditya Karikalan has just been released. Sporting long hair and beard, the actor looks royal riding a horse.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on the historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. It tells the story of early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola emperor, Raja Raja Chola I. Jayam Ravi plays the titular role. The cast also includes Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram Prabhu, Parthiban, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Kishore, Jayaram, Rahman, Lal and Ashwin Kakumanu.

Sarath Kumar to star in Madhav Ramadasan’s Tamil debut

Madhav Ramadasan, known for his films like Melvilasom and Apothecary, is all set to make his Tamil debut. Veteran actor Sarath Kumar will be playing the lead in this film, which is yet to be titled. The director made the announcement through his social media handle by sharing a photo taken with Sarath Kumar.

Madhav Ramadasan made his debut in 2011 with ‘Apothecary’ starring Suresh Gopi and Tamil actor R Parthiban. The film won widespread critical appreciation and was also selected for screening at the Busan International Film Festival.

The director followed it up with ‘Apothecary’ in 2014. The medical thriller starring Suresh Gopi, Jayasurya, Abhirami, Meera Nandan, Indrans, and Asif Ali received a Special Jury Mention at the Kerala State Awards. Actors Jayasurya and Indrans won awards at the National and State level, respectively, for their performance in the film.

Madhav Ramadasan’s last release was ‘Ilayaraja’ starring Guinness Pakru in the titular role.

As reported earlier, the Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ will be out in two-parts, with the first part releasing on September 30, 2022. Last day, they shared a poster announcing that the ‘Chozhas are coming’. With just over two months left for release, the team is set to begin their extensive promotions soon.

‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is an ambitious project that has some of India’s best technicians and stars in it. Based on the historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy, it tells the story of early days of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Chola emperor, Raja Raja Chola I. Jayam Ravi plays the titular role. As reported recently by us, the Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram is gearing up for OTT release. It has been confirmed to start streaming on Disney + Hotstar on July 8. Meanwhile, the makers are sharing songs and other glimpse videos from the film. Last day, they released the chartbuster ‘Pathala Pathala’ song online. The opening sung is sung and written by Kamal Haasan. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the track.

‘Vikram’, which got released on June 3, has been ruling the box office successfully for the past one month. The film has broken five-year-old record set by ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ to become the biggest grossing film in Tamil Nadu. In Kerala also, it has emerged as the highest grossing non-Malayalam film.

‘Vikram’ also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Suriya and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles. It has also been confirmed that ‘Vikram’ will be getting a second part. Director Lokesh is trying to expand the universe next with ‘Kaithi 2’ starring Karthi. Suriya’s character Rolex from ‘Vikram’ is also expected to be a part of ‘Kaithi 2’.

Release date of Simbu’s Pathu Thala announced

Recently, the makers of Simbu’s upcoming film ‘Pathu Thala’ announced that the film will be out on December 14, 2022. The film, which is the official remake of blockbuster Kannada film ‘Mufti’, also stars Gautham Karthik in the lead.

‘Mufti’ is a neo-noir action-thriller starring Shiva Rajkumar and Sriimurali as the leads. Narthan, the director of the orginal, was supposed to helm the Tamil version as well. However, it got shelved at the initial stages itself after a tussle between the director and the film’s producer KR Gnanavel Raja. Simbu was also irregular in attending shoots.

Later the project got revived with Obeli N Krishna of ‘Sillunu Oru Kaadhal’ and ‘Nedunchalai’ fame as the director. In the Tamil version, reprises Shivaraj Kumar’s role and Gautham Karthik plays the other lead. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Manushyaputhran, Kalaiyarasan and ‘Asuran’ fame Teejay are also part of the cast.

Dhanush teams up with Saani Kaayidham director Arun Matheswaran for Captain Miller

As reported earlier, Dhanush will next team up with Arun Matheswaran for ‘Saani Kaayidham’ and ‘Rocky’ fame. Sathya Jyothi Films is backing the project, which has been titled ‘Captain Miller’. The title announcement was made last day with a kickass motion poster.

‘Captain Miller’ is said to be a big scale period action film set in the 50s. GV Prakash will be composing music for the film with cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna. More details regarding the other cast members and when shoot begins are eagerly awaited.

Dhanush meanwhile has his Hollywood debut ‘The Gray Man’, co-starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, set to premiere on Netflix on July 15. The ‘Karnan’ actor also has ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ directed by Mithran Jawahar gearing up for release. The film, which also stars Raashi Khanna, Nithya Menen and Priya Bhavani Shankar, is slated to hit screens on August 18.

The makers of ‘Thallumaala’ have released a new single from the film. Titled ‘Ole Melody’, the song is rendered by Haricharan Seshadri, Benny Dayal, Salim Kumar and Vishnu Vijay. Muhsin Parari (Mu.Ri), one of the film’s scenarists, has penned the lyrics. Vishnu Vijay is the composer.

‘Thallumaala’ is directed by Khalid Rahman, who previously made ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’, ‘Unda’ and ‘Love’. It is scripted jointly by Muhsin and ‘Thamaasha’ fame Ashraf Hamza. Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan play the leads in the film, which is produced by Ashiq Usman.

According to the makers, ‘Thallumaala’ is an experimental film which they shot for 102 days. It has Jimshi Khalid as the cinematographer and Vishnu Vijay handling the music department. The film also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Lukman, Johny Antony and Gokulan.

‘Thallumala’ will be hitting screens on August 12.

Words of appreciation keep pouring for the Kamal Haasan-Lokesh Kanagaraj film ‘Vikram’ even a month after its release. Last day, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu took to his Twitter handle to tweet in praise of ‘Vikram’ and team. He called the film a new-age cult classic. He particularly praised the works of Kamal, Lokesh, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil and Anirudh Ravichander.

Lucifer remake: First look of Chiranjeevi’s Godfather to be out tomorrow

The first look of Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Godfather’ will be out on July 4, 05:45 PM. It is the Telugu remake of Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The Telugu remake is directed by Tamil filmmaker Mohan Raja, known for his films like ‘Thani Oruvan’ and ‘Velaikkaran’.

‘Lucifer’, released in 2019, was a political thriller, which turned out to be a record-breaking hit at the box office. Actor Prithviraj made his directorial debut with the film and it was scripted by Murali Gopy. The makers are currently working on the pre-production of its second part, ‘Empuraan’.

‘Godfather’ is expected to have some changes from the original. Nayanthara is essaying the role done by Manju Warrier and Satyadev is reprising Tovino’s role.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is playing the cameo role done by Prithviraj.

‘Godfather’ has music scored by Thaman and is bankrolled by NVR Cinema, Megaa Super Good Films and Konidela Productions.
