It’s a wrap for Mammootty’s Rorschach

The makers of Mammootty starrer ‘Rorschach’ have successfully completed the shoot. The film was wrapped up with a brief final schedule in Dubai. Nisam Basheer of ‘Kettyolaanu Ente Malaakha’ fame is directing this film. It is scripted by Sameer Abdul, who has earlier penned the Asif Ali films, ‘Ibilis’ and ‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’.

Touted to be a thriller, ‘Rorschach’ also stars Sharafudheen, Jagadheesh, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker, Sanju Sivaram, and Kottayam Nazeer. Asif Ali is also said to be playing a short cameo in the film. Speculations were made after the actor was spotted in Dubai along with Mammootty and team.

Nimish Ravi of ‘Kurup’ fame is handling the camera for ‘Rorschach’. Kiran Das (Moothon, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum) is the editor. Mithun Mukundan, the composer of the recently acclaimed Kannada film ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishaba Vahana’, is making his Malayalam debut with this film.

Mammootty’s own production house Mammootty Kampany is producing ‘Rorschach’, which is eyeing an Onam 2022 release.

Ranjith Sankar’s next titled 4 Years

Ranjith Sankar has announced his new film titled ‘4 Years’. His banner Dreams N Beyond, which he owns along with actor Jayasurya, will be producing the film. According to the director, it will be a campus story that follows the life of Gayathri and Vishal. However, details regarding the lead actors or other cast members have not yet been revealed. Veteran cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan, with whom Ranjith Sankar has worked in ‘Ramante Edanthottam’ and ‘Sunny’, has been retained for this film as well.

Announcing the project with a title poster, Ranjith Sankar wrote,

4 years is about Gayathri and Vishal, their college sunrises, canteen sunsets and hostel midnights.

Ranjith Sankar’s last release was ‘Sunny’, an experiential single-actor film with Jayasurya as the lead. The latter won the best actor at the 20th Dhaka International Film festival for his performance in the film.

Extraordinary response for Shamshera trailer

Recently, the makers of Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Shamshera’ released the trailer online. It has got extraordinary reception from the viewers. Within four days of its release, the trailer has got 59 million views on YouTube. Bollywood’s leading production house, Yash Raj Films is backing the project, which is directed by Karan Malhotra of ‘Agneepath’ fame.

‘Shamshera’ is an action-adventure entertainer in which Ranbir plays the role of a dacoit. Sanjay Dutt is also there in a major role in the film. Vaani Kapoor is the female lead. The makers are releasing the film in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. It is scheduled to hit screens on July 22. Prior to that, the film’s trailer will be out on June 24.

Apart from ‘Shamshera’, Ranbir also has ‘Brahmastra’ gearing up to hit screens. Also a fantasy-adventure film, it has Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy in important roles. Ayan Mukherjee is helming the project, which is planned as a trilogy.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is backing ‘Brahmastra’, which is slated for theatrical release on September 9.

Indrajith Sukumaran and Nyla Usha star in Kunjammini’s Hospital

Indrajith Sukumaran and Nyla Usha will be seen playing the lead roles in ‘Kunjammini’s Hospital’, directed by debutant Sanal V Devan. The film is scripted by Abhayakumar and Anil Kurian, the duo that penned the recently-released ‘Priyan Ottathilaanu’. Santhosh Thrivikraman, who produced that film, is backing this upcoming project as well.

‘Kunjammini’s Hospital’ went on floors recently in Thrissur. The film also stars Baburaj, Sarayu Mohan, and Prakash Raj in prominent roles. As per the makers, it is an entertainer with a mix of fantasy and humour. Ajay David Kachappilly is the cinematographer and Mansoor Muthukutty will be handling the edits. ‘Joseph’ fame Ranjin Raj has been signed as the music director.

Indrajith, meanwhile, has Thuramukham gearing up for release. The film directed by Rajeev Ravi also stars Nivin Pauly, Joju George, Darshana Rajendran, Arjun Ashokan and many others. Indrajith also has 19(1)(a), Anuradha Crime No. 59, Theerppu, and Ram in various stages of production.

Nyla Usha, who was last seen in ‘Priyan Ottathilaanu’, has the Suresh Gopi-starrer ‘Paappan’, getting ready to hit screens.

Dhyan Sreenivasan to star in Jailer

Dhyan Sreenivasan, who has his kitty brimming with projects, has signed a new one. Titled ‘Jailer’, the film is a period thriller directed by Sakkir Madathil. NK Mohammed is producing the film under the banner of Golden Village. The title launch was held recently at the Come On Kerala event held in Sharjah.

According to the makers, the film has Dhyan playing the titular role of a jailer and the story is set during the 1956-57 timeline. It is centred on the jailer staying in a bungalow with five criminals and his attempts to try an experiment with them.

Suriya to present Sai Pallavi’s Gargi

Recently on Sai Pallavi’s birthday, it was announced that she would be headling a multilingual film titled ‘Gargi’. Gautham Ramachandran, who made his debut with the Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Richie’, is directing the film. Made originally in Tamil, it is also set to be dubbed and released in Telugu and Kannada.

It has been announced that 2D Entertainment, headed by actors Suriya and Jyotika, will be presenting ‘Gargi’. The official announcement was made recently by sharing photos of the main team members with Suriya and Jyotika.

‘Gargi’, said to be a legal drama, has Sai Pallavi playing a middle class woman’s role, who fights against the system. She had recently shared a making video of the film, which includes footages of her dubbing in different languages. It also stars Kaali Venkat, Kalesh Ramanand in prominent roles.

Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi is turning a producer with ‘Gargi’. She is backing it along with director Gautham, Ravichandran Ramachandran and Thomas George. Govind Vasantha is the film’s music director and cinematography is by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkattu. Edits are handled by Shafique Mohamed Ali.

Sunny Wayne-Shine Tom Chacko starrer Adithattu trailer is intriguing

We had earlier reported about Sunny Wayne and Shine Tom Chacko playing the lead roles in a new film titled ‘Adithattu’. Directed by Jijo Anthony, the film is gearing up for release. Last day, the makers shared its trailer, which looks highly promising. Shot mostly in the sea, the film has the leads as fishermen.

‘Adithattu’ is director Jijo Anthony’s second film with Sunny Wayne after ‘Pokkiri Simon’. He has also made two other films — ‘Konthayum Poonoolum’ and ‘Darvinte Parinamam’.

‘Adithattu’ is scripted by Khais Millen. Its core technical crew includes cinematographer Pappinu, music director Nezer Ahemed, editor Noufal Abdullah, makeup artist Renjith, costume designer Stephy Xavior and stunt choreographer Phoenix Prabhu. Tamil actor Jayapalan of ‘Aadukalam’ fame, Prashanth Alexander and Murugan Martin are also part of the cast.

It is produced by Mini March Studios in association with Kanayil Films.

We had earlier reported about Tamil actor Suriya being invited by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to join the organisation. Suriya is among the 239 invitees this year, which includes 71 Oscar nominees. The list of invitees from India this year also includes Kajol, filmmakers Reema Kagti, Pan Nalin, Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas.

Congratulating Suriya on receiving the honour, Kamal Haasan tweeted,

Glad my brother @Suriya_offl treads the ground of stars. In spite of gravity, which makes wings weak. We created angels and stars. Hence be proud brother to join the crowd of excellence.

Suriya thanked The Academy for considering him. He wrote,

Thank you @TheAcademy for the invitation, which I humbly accept. My heartfelt thanks to all those who wished me, will always strive to make you all proud!!

Every year, the Academy invites artists, technicians, and executives to join the organisation. The official statement reads that the membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity. Suriya is the first South Indian actor to receive this honour. Over the years, Indian celebs like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Vidya Balan, Aamir Khan, AR Rahman, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Aditya Chopra have joined the Academy.

The final schedule of shoot of Mammootty’s upcoming film ‘Rorschach’ is currently progressing in Dubai. Photos of Mammootty and Asif Ali together in Dubai have sparked speculations of latter playing a cameo role in the film. Release date of Gautham Menon-Simbu film Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu announced

It has been announced that the upcoming Simbu-Gautham Vasudev Menon film ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ (VTK) will hit screens on September 15. The release date was announced with a short video that had music by the film’s composer AR Rahman. ‘VTK’ marks the third time collaboration of AR Rahman, Simbu and Gautham Menon after ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ and ‘Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada’.

‘VTK’ promises to be a completely different film from Gautham Menon’s usual works. Its first look poster had Simbu in a stunning makeover as the actor shed close to 15 kgs for the role. Scripted by Jeyamohan, the film tells the lives of local goons in Mumbai. Kayadu Lohar is paired with Simbu in the film. Raadika Sarathkumar and Malayalam actors Siddique and Neeraj Madhav are also part of the cast.

The film has cinematography is by ‘Lucia’ fame Siddhartha Nuni. Art director Rajeevan, lyricist Thamarai, editor Anthony and costume designer Uthara Menon are also part of the technical team.
