EDM version of Porkanda Singam is all goosebumps!

With ‘Vikram’ ruling the box office successfully past the fourth week, the makers have been releasing short videos online. Latest to come out is the EDM version of ‘Porkanda Singam’. The song comes at one of the most thrilling part of the film with Kamal Haasan unleashing the beast in him. The song is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Ravi G. Lyrics is written by Vishnu Edavan.

‘Vikram’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj recently broke the five-year-old record set by ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ to become the biggest grossing film in Tamil Nadu. In Kerala also, it has emerged as the highest grossing non-Malayalam film. The action-packed entertainer has Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles. Suriya also makes guest appearance towards the end.

It has already been confirmed that ‘Vikram’ will get a second part. Director Lokesh is trying to expand the universe next with ‘Kaithi 2’ starring Karthi. Suriya’s character Rolex from ‘Vikram’ is also expected to be part of ‘Kaithi 2’.

Elaveezhapoonchira promises to be a gripping police procedural

Shahi Kabir, who scripted Joseph and Nayattu, is making his directorial debut with a new film titled ‘Elaveezhapoonchira’. It stars Soubin Shahir in the lead with Sudhy Kopa, Jude Antony Joseph, Vincent Vadakkan and Jithu Ashraf in supporting roles. The film’s trailer got released recently and it looks highly promising.

From the trailer, it looks like the story seems revolves around cops stationed at Elaveezhapoonchira, a remote hilly area in Kottayam. Soubin plays a cop in the film and it looks like a performance-oriented role. The trailer has glimpses of him going through a wide range of emotions.

‘Elaveezhapoonchira’ has its story penned by Nidhish G. He has also written the screenplay along with Shaji Maraad. Manesh Madhavan is the DOP and Kiran Das, the editor. Anil Johnson is composing the film’s music.

Vishnu Venu, who produced ‘Kappela’, is backing this film. The makers are expected to announce their release plans shortly.

Mohanlal’s Ram to be released in 2 parts?

Before the onset of the pandemic in 2020, Mohanlal was working with director Jeethu Joseph for an ambitious film titled ‘Ram’. Trisha was making her Malayalam debut with the film, which also starred Bollywood actor Adil Hussain, Indrajith Sukumaran, Leona Lishoy and Durga Krishna in major roles. Though shoot was progressing at a brisk pace, it all came to a sudden halt due to the pandemic. Since there were travel restrictions, the makers were forced to shelve the project. In the meanwhile, Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph worked on two other projects — ‘Drishyam 2′ and ’12th Man’.

After two years, the team is finally trying to get Ram back on track. Reportedly, the project has been scaled up and it will now be a two part franchise – Ram 1 and Ram 2. With the canvas widening, the makers are also trying to get a popular star from another language to be a part of the cast.

If all goes well, the film’s UK schedule will begin soon. Produced by Abhishek Films and Passion Studios, the film is being planned as a pan-Indian release.

Indian actors Suriya and Kajol have been invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The list of invitees from India this year also includes filmmakers Reema Kagti, Pan Nalin, Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas.

Every year, the Academy invites artists, technicians, and executives to join the organisation. The official statement reads that the membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity. Suriya is said to be the first South Indian actor to receive this honour.

It is worth a mention here that Suriya’s widely-acclaimed film ‘Jai Bhim’ was among the films competing to get it into the shortlist at the 94th Academy Awards. However, it failed to make the cut.

Over the years, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Vidya Balan and Aamir Khan have joined the Academy. AR Rahman, Ekta Kapoor, Guneet Monga and Aditya Chopra are some of the popular Indian celebs to become Academy members.

After shattering multiple records at the global box office, the Kamal Haasan-starrer is finally coming to OTTs. It has been announced that the film will start streaming on Disney + Hotstar on July 8. The announcement was made with an interesting video featuring Kamal Haasan.

Arjun Das stars in Angamaly Diaries Hindi remake; Shoot completed

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s acclaimed Malayalam film ‘Angamaly Diaries’ is getting remade in Hindi. Arjun Das, noted for his roles in ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Master’, is playing the lead role. Madumita, who has made films like ‘Vallamai Tharayo’, ‘Kola Kolaya Mundhirika’, ‘Moone Moonu Varthai’ and ‘KD’, is directing the film. She last helmet the segment ‘Mouname Paarvayaai’ starring Joju George and Nadiya Moidu in the Amazon Prime anthology ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadhaa’.

The ‘Angamaly Diaries’ Hindi remake is set in the rural side of Goa. The makers have already completed shoot and are currently working on the post-production. Abundantia Entertainment is producing the film. More details regarding the same are expected to be out soon.

‘Angamaly Diaries’ got released in 2017 to critical acclaim and emerged as a major commercial success. Two years later, the film was remade in Telugu as The film was remade in Telugu as Falaknuma Das with Vishwak Sen as the lead and the director.

Meena’s husband Vidyasagar passes away

Popular South Indian actress Meena’s husband Vidyasagar has passed away. As per reports, Vidyasagar suffered from a severe lung infection and had been under treatment for the past few months. Reportedly, he was suffering from an allergy contracted by inhaling air infected by pigeon droppings. The infection got more severe after the entire family tested positive for COVID 19 in January this year. Although they all recovered, it is said to have worsened Vidyasagar’s condition. He breathed his last in a private hospital in Chennai.

Meena got married to Vidyasagar, a Bengaluru based businessman in 2009. The couple has a daughter, Nainika, who made her acting debut with the Vijay starrer Theri. Many from the film industry have taken to social media to express their grief and condolences to Meena and her family.

Khushbu Sundar, a long time friend and contemporary of Meena, tweeted,

Waking up to a terrible news.Heartbroken to learn actor Meena’s husband, Sagar, is no more with us. He was battling lung ailment for long. Heart goes out to Meena n her young daughter. Life is cruel. At loss of words to express grief. Deepest condolences to the family. #RIP

I very humbly request the media to be little responsible. Meena’s husband had covid 3 months back. Covid worsened his lung condition. Pls do not send out a wrong message & create any kind of fear or cause flutter by saying we lost Sagar to covid. Yes we need to cautious, but pls.

As the Shane Nigam starrer ‘Ullasam’ gears up for release on July 1, the makers have shared colourful character posters of all major actors in the film. Pavithra, the female lead, plays a character named Kadayadi Baby. Nayana, noted for her roles in ‘June’ and ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’, plays Sona. The National award winning Tamil actor Appukutyy essays a character named Ranka. Veteran actress Ambika is Mary Kutty in the film. While Deepak Parambol plays Arun Mathew, Basil Joseph plays a part named Asi. Aju Varghese is also there in an important role as Sam

‘Ullasam’ is directed by debutant Jeevan Jojo, who was a former associate of Ranjith Sankar, Deepu Karunakaran and Jeethu Joseph. Praveen Balakrishnan has scripted it. From the promos, the film looks like a a romantic entertainer with colourful songs, fun moments, action and romance.

On the technical side, Swaroop Philip has handled the camera and songs are composed by Shaan Rahman. While Gopi Sundar takes care of the background score, Johnkutty takes care of the edits. Jo Kaithamattam and Christy Kaithamattam are jointly producing the film under the banner of Kaithamattam Brothers.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan first look continues to trend virally

Recently, on the occasion of Shah Rukh Khan turning 30 years in cinema, the makers of his upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ released the first look. Sporting long hair, Shah Rukh looked stylish as ever holding a gun. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, who has previously made action films like ‘War’ and ‘Bang Bang’.

‘Pathaan’ also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone as the leads. The big-scale actioner was shot in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Spain, and other foreign countries. Shah Rukh’s character in the film is said to be a spy. It is reported that the film will have cameos from Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan. It is part of expanding YRF’s spy universe. Salman Khan will be appearing as Tiger while Hrithik will be reprising his character Kabir from ‘War’.

The makers have already announced that ‘Pathaan’ will be hitting screens on January 25, 2023.

Rorschach final schedule set to begin in Dubai

Final schedule of Mammootty’s upcoming film ‘Rorschach’ is set to begin in Dubai. It is learnt that the team has completed almost 99% of the shoot and only a couple of days shoot still remain. Directed by ‘Kettyolaanu Ente Malaakha’ fame Nisam Basheer, the film is touted to be a thriller. It is scripted by Sameer Abdul, who has earlier penned the Asif Ali films, ‘Ibilis’ and ‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’.

‘Rorschach’ also stars Sharafudheen, Jagadheesh, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker, Sanju Sivaram, and Kottayam Nazeer.
Nimish Ravi of ‘Kurup’ fame is cranking the camera. Kiran Das of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame is the editor. Mithun Mukundan, the composer of the recently acclaimed Kannada film ‘Garuda Gamana Vrishaba Vahana’, is making his Malayalam debut with this film.

Mammootty’s own production house Mammootty Kampany is producing the film, which is targeting an Onam 2022 release.
