Trailer of Keerthy Suresh- Tovino starrer Vaashi is promising

The trailer of Tovino Thomas-Keerthy Suresh starrer ‘Vaashi’ has been released. From the trailer, we gather that both the actors play lawyers in the film. Though friends initially, circumstances force them to go face-to-face in a legal battle. From the dialogues, it looks like the film deals with the topic of ‘consent’.

‘Vaashi’ is directed by newcomer Vishnu G Raghav. He has also penned the screenplay based on Janiz Chacko Simon’s story. The cast also includes Anu Mohan, Sreelakshmi, Divya George, ‘Thinakalazhcha Nishchayam’ fame Anagha, Nandu, Baiju Santhosh, Rony, Kottayam Ramesh, and Maya Viswanath.

‘Vaashi’ has Neil Dcunha as the cinematographer. Kailas Menon hae composed the songs and the duo of Neha Nair and Yakzan Gary Pereira handle the background score. Arjun Benn is editing the film. Filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan is serving as the creative supervisor.

Keerthy Suresh’s father Suresh Kumar is producing the film. Her mother Menaka Suresh and sister Revathy Suresh are the co-producers. Urvashi Theatres and Ramya Movies will be releasing the film this Friday (June 17).

Release date of Dhanush’s Thiruchitrambalam announced

It has been announced that Dhanush’s new film ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ will be hitting screens on August 18. The film is directed by Mithran Jawahar with whom Dhanush has worked before in ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, ‘Kutty’ and ‘Uthamaputhiran’.

‘Thiruchitrambalam’ promises to a wholesome entertainer. While Dhanush plays the titular role, the film has Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna as the female leads. Nithya Menen essays a character named Shobana. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays a village belle named Ranjani and Raashi Khanna’s character is Anusha. Prakash Raj and Bharathiraja will also be seen in prominent roles in the film.

‘Thiruchitrambalam’ marks the reunion of Dhanush and music director Anirudh Ravichander after a 6-year-long gap. Expectations are huge as the blockbuster combo gets back together. The film has Om Prakash as the cinematographer and Prasanna GK as the editor. It is produced by Sun Pictures.

777 Charlie Review: This dog film is an emotionally overwhelming experience

Human-dog bondings have always been a fond theme of filmmakers from across the world. However, Indian cinema has rarely seen a full-fledged dog film on the lines of ‘Hachiko’. ‘777 Charlie’ is the answer for that. Directed by debutant Kiranraj, the film is about how a dog enters the life of a loner and gives him a new perspective towards it.

Rakshit Shetty plays the protagonist Dharma, who is stuck in a rut with his negative and lonely lifestyle and spends each day in the comfort of his loneliness. He is traumatised by his past where his family members got killed in a road accident and decides to lead a secluded life. The initial half hour of the film is dedicated to establish Dharma and his characteristics.

A pup named Charlie finds its way to his life. It brings out the kinder side of his and breathes new life to Dharma, who has been stuck in a rut with spending each day in the comfort of his loneliness. Though initially reluctant, Dharma gradually grows closer to Charlie and they soon become inseparable. Charlie is soon diagonised with a fatal form of cancer, which shatters Dharma to pieces. Soon after, they set out on a journey to the Himalayas. The rest of the film covers their adventurous journey, the hardships and an overwhelming climax.

To have pulled off a film of this scale with a dog as one of the leads is quite an achievement. The dogs are so expressive that their antics can leave in you splits at one moment and then break your heart in the next. Rakshit Shetty also deserves all the praise in the world for his performance in the film. It is one thing to perform alongside actors. But with dogs, you never know how they would react and when they would give the right take. So Rakshit had to match it everytime and the actor is incredibly good in the film. Raj B Shetty, Bobby Simha and a young school-going girl are some of the other notable performers.

‘777 Charlie’ is also enriched by its music by Nobin Paul. His heartwarming score and songs elevate the film to a whole new level. To sum up, the film is a wonderful experience not just for pet lovers. If you’re not a dog person, the film can move you to tears and yearn for owning one.

Nivin Pauly-Asif Ali starrer Mahaveeryar to release on July 21

The makers of ‘Mahaveeryar’ have announced that the film will be hitting screens on July 21. The film directed by Abrid Shine has Nivin Pauly and Asif Ali as the leads. Earlier the makers had released a teaser from which the film looks like a fantasy entertainer.

‘Mahaveeryar’ has its story by Sahitya Akademi Award winner M Mukundan and adapted screenplay by Abrid Shine. Chandru Selvaraj has cranked the camera and music is composed by Ishan Chhabra.

The film stars Lal, Siddique, Shanvi Srivastava, Lalu Alex, Major Ravi, Sudheer Karamana, Mallika Sukumaran, Prajod Kalabhavan, Srikanth Murali, Padmaraj Ratheesh and many others in supporting roles. Nivin’s Pauly Jr Pictures is jointly producing the film along with Indian Movie Makers.

‘Mahaveeryar’ is Nivin Pauly’s third film with director Abrid Shine. The duo’s previous films, ‘1983’ and ‘Action Hero Biju’ were both commercially successful. They will be hoping to repeat the success once again. It is also Nivin’s third outing with Asif Ali after sharing screen in ‘Sevenes’ and briefly in ‘Traffic’.

Release date of Tovino’s Thallumaala announced

The makers of ‘Thallumaala’ have announced the film’s release date. Starring Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan as the lead, film will be hitting screens on August 12.

‘Thallumaala’ is directed by Khalid Rahman, who previously made ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’, ‘Unda’ and ‘Love’. It is scripted jointly by Muhsin Parari and ‘Thamaasha’ fame Ashraf Hamza, and produced by Ashiq Usman. According to the makers, it is an experimental film which they shot for 102 days.

Tovino has pinned high hopes on the film. Earlier, in a Facebook post, he wrote a note mentioning that he hasn’t done a project as kickass as ‘Thallumaala’. He also promised that the film will be a whistle worthy insane entertainer to be experienced by everyone on the big screens.

‘Thallumala’ has Jimshi Khalid as the cinematographer and Vishnu Vijay handling the music department. The film also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Lukman, Johny Antony and Gokulan.

Recently, there were reports about veteran director Priyadarshan teaming up with a bunch of youngsters for his next. Names like Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko and Arjun Ashokan were speculated to be part of the film. However, the latest we hear is that Shane Nigam and Shine Tom have been signed for the film. An official confirmation is still awaited.

Touted to be a thriller, this upcoming film is scripted by Priyadarshan himself. Siddique and Maniyanpilla Raju, two regulars in the director’s films, is said to be part of this one as well. Priyadarshan is also producing the film, which will is likely to go on floors in August. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Priyadarshan’s last release in Malayalam was the ambitious ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. Though the film got released amidst massive hype, it failed to live up to the expectations. It met with severe trolling and criticisms in social media.

Priyadarshan had planned a boxing-based film with Mohanlal as his next after ‘Marakkar’. But it seems like the director has put it on hold. He also has a Tamil film titled ‘Appatha’ coming up with Urvashi.

We had earlier reported that Prithviraj starrer ‘Kaduva’ will be hitting screens on June 30. With the release date closing in, the makers shared a new teaser last day. It is an action-packed teaser that introduces Prithviraj as Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. The film directed by Shaji Kailas promised to be a high voltage action entertainer. Jinu V Abraham has scripted the film. He has earlier penned films like ‘Masters’ and ‘London Bridge’, besides directing ‘Adam Joan’.

‘Kaduva’ has Vivek Oberoi in the antagonist’s role of an IPS officer. Samyuktha Menon, Baiju, Sai Kumar, Siddique, Arjun Ashokan, Alencier Ley, Janardhanan, Aju Varghese, Rahul Madhav, Vijayaraghavan, Seema, Kochu Preman and Priyanka are also part of the supporting cast.

‘Kaduva’ has music by Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam. The film is produced by Prithviraj Productions along with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

Kamal Haasan confirms next with Mahesh Narayanan; Shoot to begin in July

Even as his latest release ‘Vikram’ is doing stupendous response at the box office, talks about Kamal Hassan’s next have emerged. In a recent interview, the veteran confirmed that his next will be directed by Malayali filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan and that they are planning to go on floors by July end.

It is worth a mention that Mahesh and Kamal go a long way back. The former has worked as an editor in Kamal’s ‘Vishwaroopam’. Mahesh, who is known for his films like ‘Take Off’, ‘C U Soon’ and ‘Malik’, will be making his directorial debut in Tamil with the upcoming Kamal starrer. Kamal is also scripting the film. In an interview to Pinkvilla, Kamal is quoted saying, “I have a commitment with Mr. Mahesh Narayanan. He began his career with me as a cinematographer and editor. We seem to understand each other and I have completed a script for me. We are tweaking it a bit and plan to hit the floors by July end or early August.”

Jayasurya’s upcoming film ‘Eesho’ directed by Nadhirshah is getting ready for release. We learn that the film will have a director OTT release on Sony Liv. The makers are expected to announce the premiere date shortly.

‘Eesho’ touted to be a thriller has Namitha Pramod as the female lead. Salim Kumar will be also seen playing an important role. Suneesh Varanaad, who earlier penned the Manju Warrier-starrer ‘Mohanlal’, has scripted ‘Eesho’.

Nadhirshah, as a director, is well known for helming fun-filled entertainers. All his previous films, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan’, ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ and ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’, had humour as the main element. With ‘Eesho’ being a thriller, it will be interesting to see how Nadhirshah has handled it.

On the technical front, the film has Roby Varghese Raj as the cinematographer and Shameer Muhammed as the editor. Nadhirshah has composed the songs and background score is by Rahul Raj.

Arun Narayan is producing the film under his banner Arun Narayan Productions.
