Aishwarya Lekshmi turns producer with Sai Pallavi’s next, Gargi

It is Sai Pallavi’s birthday today and on this occasion, a new film of hers has been announced. Titled ‘Gargi’, it seems to be a female-oriented with Sai Pallavi playing a middle class woman’s role, who fights against the system.

Gautham Ramachandran, who made his debut with the Nivin Pauly-starrer ‘Richie’, is directing the film. Made in Tamil, ‘Gargi’ will also be dubbed and released in Telugu and Kannada. Sai Pallavi has shared a making video of the film, which includes footages of her dubbing in different languages.

Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi is turning a producer with this film. She is backing it along with director Gautham, Ravichandran Ramachandran and Thomas George.

Govind Vasantha is the film’ music director and cinematography is by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkattu. Edits are handled by Shafique Mohamed Ali.

Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swami star in a silent film titled Gandhi Talks

Last year on Vijay Sethupathi’s birthday, it was announced that he will be starring in a silent film titled ‘Gandhi Talks’. Kishor Pandurang Belekar is directing the film, which also stars Arvind Swami and Aditi Rao Hydari. The film produced by Zee Studios went on floors on Thursday.

‘Gandhi Talks’ will have music scored by maestro AR Rahman. The film which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Marathi. The film brings together Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Rao Hydari and Arvind Swami after sharing screen in ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’. Interestingly, AR Rahman had scored music for that film as well.

More details regarding the project, including its plotline and characters are expected to be out soon.

Ayushmann Khuranna’s Anek trailer is gripping

The trailer of Ayushmann Khuranna’s latest film ‘Anek’ dropped in last day and it has been getting tremendous response from all corners. Set in North East India, the film follows the journey of an undercover cop on a mission to find peace. Anubhav Sinha, who has directed films like ‘Mulk’ and ‘Thappad’, is helming this film. It is the director’s second outing with Ayushmann after the widely acclaimed ‘Article 15’.

‘Anek’ has its screenplay written by Anubhav Sinha, Sima Agarwal and Yash Keswani. The film is centered around the violence and the injustice that the people of North East India suffer.

Elaborating on the same, Ayushmann said in a statement, “The film is based in the North East. It’s about unifying the North East with the mainland and not too many films have been made on the region which will talk about this. This includes actors from the northeast or their representation. We have literally ignored the North East of our country and the kind of racism they face in the mainland, I think it’s very disheartening.”

The film’s cast also includes JD Chakravarthy, Andrea Kevichüsa, Deeplina Deka, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Loitongbam Dorendra.

‘Anek’ was originally scheduled for theatrical release on 17 September 2021, but was postponed owing to COVID-19 pandemic. It is slated to hit screens on 27 May 2022.

Jack N’ Jill trailer grabs attention

Santhosh Sivan directorial ‘Jack N’ Jill’ has been in the making for nearly three years now. The film is finally getting ready to hit screens on May 20. Recently, the makers shared its trailer online. The 1.43-minute long trailer promises a fun and fascinating sci-fi film.

‘Jack N’ Jill’ stars Manju Warrier, Kalidas Jayaram and Soubin Shahir as the leads. It is a quirky sci-fi film in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) forms an integral part. Manju Warrier plays the role of a woman who is being experimented upon. The cast also includes Nedumudi Venu, Ramesh Pisharody, Basil Joseph, Shailee Kishan and Indrans among others.

Jakes Bejoy, Ram Surendar and Gopi Sundar have composed the songs. Background score is done by Jakes Bejoy and edits are handled by Renjith Touchriver. The film is being produced by Gokulam Gopalan, Santosh Sivan and M Prashanth Das under the banners of Sree Gokulam Movies and Sewas Films.

Manju Warrier to play the female lead in Ajith’s next

We had earlier reported about Ajith teaming up with director H Vinoth for the third time after ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ and ‘Valimai’. The new film, tentatively titled, ‘AK 61’, is produced by Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP and Zee Studios. Shoot for the film is currently progressing in Hyderabad.

Latest reports suggest that the makers have roped in Malayalam actress Manju Warrier to play the female lead’s role. If reports are to be believed, the actress will be seen as Ajith’s pair in the film. This will be Manju’s second outing in Tamil after debuting with the blockbuster film, ‘Asuran’.

Touted to be a heist thriller, ‘AK 61’ has Nirav Shah as the cinematographer. The makers have erected where a massive set of a high-security bank in a locality resembling Chennai’s Mount Road. Ajith is sporting a stylish bearded look in the film.

The makers are planning to release the film for this year’s Deepavali in October.

The trailer of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s new film ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ has been released. The trailer has glimpses of action, romance and humour and it promised to be a complete commercial package. Keerthy Suresh is paired with Mahesh Babu in the film. It is directed by Parasuram of ‘Geetha Govindam’ fame.

‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ is Mahesh Babu’s first release after the pandemic. Fans are naturally highly excited about the film. From the trailer, it looks like the actor plays a playful character that is within his strengths. Samuthirakani plays the villain’s role. Others in the cast include Nadhiya Moidu, Vennela Kishore, Sowmya Menon, Subbaraju, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ajay, Ravi Prakash and Posani Krishna Murali among others.

Mythri Movie Makers, 14 Reels and G Mahesh Babu Entertainment Entertainment are jointly producing ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’. The film has has music scored by Thaman and cinematography by R Madhi. It is slated to hit screens on May 12, 2022.

Urvashi, Parvathy, Ramya Nambessan and others team up for a multi-starrer titled Her

Director Lijin Jose of ‘Friday’ fame has assembled a stellar star cast for his new film, ‘Her’. Urvashi, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ramya Nambessan, Lijomol Jose, Prathap Pothen, Guru Somasundaram and Rajesh Madhavan are part of the lead cast. Debutante Archana Vasudev is scripting the film, which is set to go on floors this month.

‘Her’, as the title suggests, is expected to be a female-oriented film that talks about the lives of multiple women. On the technical front, the makers have got Chandru Selvaraj as the cinematographer and Govind Vasantha as the music director. Kiran Das is the editor. The film is produced by Anish M Thomas under the banner of AT Studio.

Meanwhile, Lijin Jose has another film titled ‘Chera’ coming up. Roshan Mathew and Nimisha Sajayan. Scripted by Najeem Koya, the film also stars Guru Somasundaram, Shaji Chen, Jeo Baby, and Lena. It is produced by Arun M C under the banner of Line of Colors.

Back in 2019, it was announced that veteran director Bhadran would be teaming up with Joju George, Soubin Shahir and Rima Kallingal for a film titled ‘Joothan’. However, the project never took off due to unknown reasons. After three years, it seems like the director is planning to revive it. Shane Nigam is replacing Soubin Shahir in the film. Rima Kallingal’s role is likely to be done by Mamta Mohandas. Joju, Indrans, Joy Mathew and Sharafudheen are also expected to be part of the cast.

‘Joothan’ is scripted by S Suresh Babu, who has earlier written films like ‘Nadan’, ‘Shikkar’ and ‘Kanal’. It is said to be a psychological thriller with mystery elements in it. When the project was first announced, it was revealed that Soubin will be playing a Jewish character named Eo Eliyavu Kohan. It will be interesting to see how Shane plays this role.

Cinematographer Lokanadhan S, National award winning production designer Vinesh Banglan and music director Sushin Shyam were initially announced as part of the technical crew. It remains to be seen if the same team will be retained.

The makers are planning to start shoot in September, 2022.

Kamal Haasan’s Vikram set to have a grand trailer and audio launch

Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited film ‘Vikram’ is gearing up to hit screens on June 3. With the release date closing in, the makers are set to begin the promotion works in full swing. Last day, it was announced that the film’s trailer and audio will be launched on May 15. Anirudh is composing music for the film. With the promos released so far indicating a mass action entertainer, fans are eagerly waiting for the trailer.

Lokesh Kanagaraj is directing ‘Vikram’ that also stars Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Hareesh Peradi, Shivani Narayanan and many others will be seen in supporting roles. It has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, music by Anirudh Ravichander, edits by Philomin Raj and stunts handled by AnbAriv duo.

Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film. Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies will be distributing it in Tamil Nadu.

Kannil Pettole song from Thallumala is stylish and colourful

The makers of ‘Thallumaala’ have released the first video song online. Titled ‘Kannil Pettole’, it is a funky, rap song composed by Vishnu Vijay. He has also sung the track along with Irfana Hameed. The latter has written the rap lyrics. Mu.Ri (Muhsin Parari) has penned the Arabic and Malayalam lyrics.

The song video is anything like what we usually get to see in a Malayalam film. It is rich, colourful, vibrant and has the vibes of an international music video. While Kalyani Priyadarshan nails it with her swag, it is fun to see Tovino shaking his legs — which is probably the first in his career so far.

‘Thallumaala’ is directed by Khalid Rahman. It is scripted jointly by Muhsin Parari and ‘Thamaasha’ fame Ashraf Hamza, and produced by Ashiq Usman. According to the makers, it is an experimental film which they shot for 102 days.

‘Thallumala’ has Jimshi Khalid as the cinematographer and Vishnu Vijay handling the music department. The film also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Lukman, Johny Antony and Gokulan.
