Suresh Gopi’s Paappan gets its release date

Suresh Gopi’s upcoming film ‘Paappan’ is an eagerly awaited one. The film directed by Joshiy has a lot of expectations since two are teaming up after a long gap. In addition to that, the film also has a big cast featuring actors like Gokul Suresh, Kaniha, Sunny Wayne, Nyla Usha and Neeta Pillai.

Meanwhile, it is being reported that the film will hit screens on March 31. The makers are yet to announce the release date officially but reports suggest that it is a confirmed date.

‘Paappan’ has Suresh Gopi playing a cop named Abraham Mathew Mathan. He will be appearing in two different looks in the film, which includes a salt-and-pepper bearded getup. Scripted by RJ Shaan, ‘Paappan’ is a family-based mass entertainer with mystery and suspense elements in it.

The film is being produced by David Kachappilly Productions and Cubes International Group. It will be presented by Agosh Cinemas and Chand V Movies.

Jeethu Joseph’s Kooman with Asif Ali is a thriller penned by 12th Man scriptwriter

It was recently announced that Jeethu Joseph will be teaming up with Asif Ali for a film titled ‘Kooman’. It is scripted by KR Krishna Kumar, who is also penning Jeethu’s soon-to-be released ’12th Man’.

As confirmed by Jeethu, ‘Kooman’ is a thriller, which Krishna Kumar had pitched it to him even before ’12th Man’. Asif Ali was cast in the film as the director felt that the lead role in this film demanded an actor who is not weighed down by superstardom. Along with him, the cast also includes Renji Panicker, Jaffer Idukki, Baburaj and Meghanathan.

On the technical front, Jeethu has retained his frequent collaborator Satheesh Kurup as the cinematographer. Vishnu Shyam will be handling the music department and VS Vinayak is the editor. The director’s wife Linta Jeethu will be designing the costumes.

‘Kooman’ produced by Allwin Antony under the banner of Ananya Films will begin shoot on February 24.

Mohanlal announces Aaraattu release date

Mohanlal has announced that his new film ‘Aaraattu’ will hit screens worldwide on February 18, 2022. The makers had planned to release the film much earlier but got postponed multiple times due to the pandemic.

‘Aaraattu’ directed by B Unnikrishnan promises to be a high-voltage mass entertainer. Udhayakrishna has scripted the film with equal dose of action, comedy, songs and all other essential commercial ingredients.

The film’s recently-released trailer met with tremendous response from the fans in social media. From the trailer, it looks like the film will be an action-packed mass flick. Mohanlal plays a character named Neyyattinkara Gopan in it.

South Indian actress Shraddha Srinath is the female lead. The supporting cast includes actors like Siddique, Sai Kumar, Nedumudi Venu, Indrans, Lukman, ‘KGF’ fame Garuda Ram, Ashwin Kumar, Vijayaraghavan, Swasika, Rachana Narayanankutty and Sheela. Music maestro AR Rahman will be seen making a cameo appearance in a song sequence in the film.

Watch out for Beast update today evening!

Sun Pictures, the production house backing Vijay’s highly-anticipated film ‘Beast’, has announced that a new update will be out today evening at 6 PM. For the last few days, there have been talks about the film locking its release date as April 14, 2022. So the update is most likely to be the confirmation of the same.

Vijay has already completed shooting for his portions in ‘Beast’. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is touted to be a big-budget fun, action thriller. Pooja Hegde is paired with Vijay. Director Selvaraghavan plays the antagonist’s role. Malayalam actress Aparna Das, Shine Tom Chacko, Ankur Ajit Vikal, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Redi Kingsley and Liliput Faruqui will be seen in supporting roles.

‘Beast’ has Anirudh Ravichander as the music director and Manoj Paramahamsa as its DOP. The makers have so far been tight-lipped about the project. With the release date closing in, they are expected to reveal some exciting details, along with sharing new promos.

Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer out; Alia Bhatt looks majestic in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali film!

The trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has been released online. Alia Bhatt plays the titular role in the film and is also has a special appearance by Ajay Devgn. The film is scheduled to hit screens on February 25, 2022. Bhansali and Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios are jointly producing it.

The film is is loosely based on the true story of Gangubai Harjivandas, popularly known as Gangubai Kothewali, whose life was documented in the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S Hussain Zaidi. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashishtha have adapted it for the screen.

Gangubai was one of the most famous madams from brothels in Mumbai’s infamous red light area, Kamathipura. As per reports, she came to Mumbai from Gujarat with her partner, Ramnik Lal, who betrayed and sold her off. She was pushed into prostitution and went on to foster ties with many underworld dons and even got a hold over certain portions in Mumbai. She later became the madam of a brothel and is said to have championed the rights of sex workers. She worked for the upliftment of women and orphans in the area of Kamathipura.

While Alia plays Gangubai’s role, the film also has Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz and Seema Pahwa in prominent roles.

Vishnu Vishal’s FIR trailer grabs attention

Recently, the trailer of Vishnu Vishal’s new film ‘FIR’ got released online. It is a thriller directed by debutant Manu Anand and the trailer looked highly promising. Vishnu plays a character named Abu Backer Abdulla, a Muslim youth who is made a terror suspect by the authorities. Gautham Menon plays a high-profile cop who heads the investigation..

The trailer is smartly cut with a lot of action blocks and it gives the feel of a racy thriller. Prasanna GK has edited the film. It has music by Ashwath and cinematography by Arul Vincent. ‘FIR’ also stars Manjima Mohan, Reba Monica John, Maala Parvathy and Raiza Wilson in major roles.

Earlier there were also reports about the makers thinking of a direct OTT release due to the pandemic situation, but they have now opted for a theatrical release as originally planned. The film is all set to hit the screens on February 11.

Prithviraj’s second directorial ‘Bro Daddy’ is currently streaming on Disney + Hotstar. The film starring him alongside Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and a host of other actors is a fun-filled family entertainer. Interestingly, remake talks for the film has emerged from the Telugu industry.

Producer Suresh Babu is apparently negotiating for the remake rights. He is keen on casting his brother Venkatesh Daggubati and son Rana Daggubati as the leads. It is said that Suresh Babu has had a long time dream of making a film starring his brother and son. If the remake materializes, Venkatesh will be reprising Mohanlal’s role and Rana will be stepping in the shoes of Prithviraj’s character. Interestingly, Rana is reprising Prithviraj’s role in the Telugu remake of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ as well.

‘Bro Daddy’ scripted by debutants Sreejith N and Bibin Maliekal has Mohanlal playing the lead role of a rich businessman. Meena plays his wife’s role and Prithviraj essays the part of their son. Kalyani Priyadarshan is paired with Prithviraj. Though the film got released amidst high expectations, the general response has been mixed so far.

Shane Nigam’s Veyil postponed yet again; New release date out

Shane Nigam’s long delayed film ‘Veyil’ has seen yet another postponing in release. The film, which was planned for release on January 28, 2022 has now been pushed to February 25, 2022. The makers’ initial plan was to release the film on June 4, 2021. Debutant Sarath Menon is directing the film and Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing it.

Besides the delay in release, ‘Veyil’ saw a lot of controversial during its shoot itself. Lead actor Shane Nigam had made severe allegations against producer Joby George of giving him death threats. The producer in turn accused Shane of unprofessional behaviour, which eventually stalled the film’s shoot for a brief period. Works resumed after the intervention of various parties.

However, things worsened when Shane walked out of the location and shaved his hair as a mark of protest against the crew. This eventually lead to the young actor getting a temporary ban from Malayalam film industry. Eventually, all the issues got settled after multiple rounds of discussions with the parties involved. The makers will be hoping that all the struggle and efforts that went behind the making of ‘Veyil’ is worth it.

From the trailer, ‘Veyil’ looks like a coming-of-age story of a youngster named Siddharth. ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Merin Jose Pottackal, James Eliya, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreerekha Sudhi Koppa and many others are part of th cast. At the 51st Kerala State Awards, Sreerekha had won the award for Best Character Actor (Female) for her performance in the film. She plays the role of Shane’s mother in the film.

Recently, Prabhu Deva joined the sets as he is choreographing a dance number for the film. It is after a long gap that he is returning to Malayalam industry and news about him joining the team of ‘Ayisha’ has created quite a buzz.

Manju Warrier has shared a photo taken with him during the rehearsals and has captioned it as a ‘dream come true moment’. Known for her excellent dancing skills, it will be quite a sight to watch Manju grooving for Prabhu Deva’s choreography. M Jayachandran has composed the song.

Director Zakariya is producing the film, which has editing by Appu N Bhattathiri and cinematography by Vishnu Sharma. The film will be released in Malayalam, English, Arabic, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages.

Release of Dulquer Salmaan’s Hey Sinamika postponed

The makers of ‘Hey Sinamika’ have postponed the release from February 25 to March 3. The change in plans is due to the third wave of pandemic, during which release of many films had to be put on hold.

‘Hey Sinamika’ is the directorial debut of dance choreographer Brinda. The film promises to be a fun, rom-com entertainer. Lyricist Madhan Karky has scripted the film, which has Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari as the female leads.

Dulquer plays a character named Yaazhan. Kajal is Malarvizhi and Aditi’s role is named Mouna. Nakshathra Nagesh, Mirchi Vijay, Yogi Babu and many others are part of the film.

The makers have released a couple of songs from the film, both of which got great response. It has created a positive buzz for the film in social medias, particularly among the youth audience. Govind Vasantha is the film’s music director and cinematography is handled by Preetha Jayaraman.
