Unni Mukundan and Aparna Balamurali team up for a love story

Unni Mukundan and Aparna Balamurali are acting together for the first time for an upcoming film directed by Arun Bose of ‘Luca’ fame. It is produced by National-award winning filmmaker Salim Ahamed.

Director Arun Bose is scripting the film along with Mridual George, with whom he had previously collaborated in ‘Luca’. According to the makers, it is a love story. Veteran Madhu Ambat is handling the cinematography, while Kiran Das edits the film. ‘Luca’ composr Sooraj S Kurup and art director Anees Nadodi have been retained for this film as well.

Unni Mukundan meanwhile has ‘Meppadiyan’ gearing up for release. The film is scheduled to hit screens on January 14, 2022. The actor is also part of ‘Bro Daddy’, ’12th Man’ and the upcoming Ravi Teja starrer ‘Khiladi’.

Aparna Balamurali will be next seen in debutant Charlie Davis’ ‘Sundari Gardens’, co-starring Neeraj Madhav. It is also produced by Salim Ahamed’s banner.

Aparna has also signed for ‘Kalki’ director Praveen Prabharam’s second film, ‘Ula’.

For a while now, there have been speculations about Vikram joining hands with director Pa Ranjith. The project has now been officially announced. Tentatively titled ‘Chiyaan 61’, the film will be produced by KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green.

Sharing the announcement, the production banner also tweeted that the rest of the cast and crew will be out soon.

Vikram and Pa Ranjith are teaming up for the first time and naturally, expectations will be high, not just among the fans but by general film-lovers as well. Vikram hasn’t been in the best of form of late, so Pa Ranjith is expected to give him that much needed big hit. Interestingly, the director is also backing Vikram’s son Dhruv’s upcoming film with Mari Selvaraj. Its shoot is likely to begin after Mari wraps up his next with Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Vikram meanwhile has Ajay Gnanamuthu’s ‘Cobra’ and Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Mahaan’ lined up.

The Venkat Prabhu directorial ‘Maanaadu’ continues to get appreciation from all corners. Ace filmmaker Shankar is the latest to come out heaping praise on the team. The ‘Enthiran’ director has tweeted that ‘Maanaadu’ is brilliantly written and directed. According to him, it is a new experience for Tamil cinema.

Shankar’s tweet reads,

‘Maanaadu’ starring Simbu and SJ Suryah as the leads is a political thriller with a fascinating time loop concept. It is a first such attempt in Tamil cinema and the film has been getting overwhelming response from both critics and the common audience.

Last day, the crew members flew to Mumbai for the film’s special screening arranged for Bollywood producers and celebs. It is learnt that remake talks have already been initiated.

Mother Song: Second single from Valimai out

The makers of ‘Valimai’ have released the second single online. Composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, it is a pleasant song celebrating motherhood. Sid Sriram has lent his vocals and lyrics is written by filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. Earlier, the same composer-lyricist combo had delivered the first single, ‘Naanga Vera Maari’, which is a high-octane song that has already become a hit.

‘Valimai’, written and directed by H Vinoth, promises be a mass-action flick. Ajith reportedly plays a cop’s role in it. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi is the female lead. Telugu actor Karthikeya Gummakonda ‘RX 100’ fame is the antagonist. Bani, Sumithra, Achyunth Kumar, Yogi Babu, Raj Ayyappa, Pugazh, Druvan and many others are part of the cast.

Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP and Zee Studios are jointly producing the film. It is almost confirmed that the film will be hitting screens for Pongal next year. The makers are expected to announce the release date officially.

It’s a wrap for Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam

Shoot for the upcoming Mammootty-Lijo Jose Pellissery film ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ has come to an end. The team successfully wrapped up the entire shoot in less than a month. Pazhani was the main location.

‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’ has its story written by Lijo Jose Pellissery and screenplay by ‘Jallikattu’ fame S Hareesh. Though the makers are yet to reveal any details regarding the film’s plot or genre, it is said to be a hybrid attempt with dialogues in Malayalam as well as Tamil. Mammootty is said to be playing a challenging role in the film.

The cast also includes veteran Ashokan, Tamil actor Ramya Pandian, ‘Homely Meals’ fame Vipin Atley, Rajesh Sharma and Ramachandran Durairaj. ‘Peranbu’ DOP Theni Easwar is cranking the camera. The film is produced by the Mammootty’s newly launched production house Mammootty Company.

The megastar will be next joining the sets of ‘CBI 5’. The film, which has him reprising the iconic role of Sethurama Iyer, marks his reunion with director K Madhu and scenarist SN Swamy. Mukesh, Anoop Menon, Soubin, Dileesh Pothan, Asha Sarath and many others star in it.

RRR makers announce new trailer release date

RRR makers announce new trailer release date

The makers of ‘RRR’ have announced that the film’s trailer will be out on December 9. It was supposed to be released last Friday (December 3) but got postponed due to some unknown reasons. It is said that the makers decided to push it as a mark of respect for legendary Telugu lyricist Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry and National-award winning dance choreographer Sivasankar master, both of whom passed away in the same week.

‘RRR’ stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the leads. The mega-budget action epic also has Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt playing crucial roles. The film tells the story of two freedom fighters, Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. Ram Charan plays the role of Alluri Sita Ramaraju, while Jr NTR essays the part of Komaram Bheem.

‘RRR’ produced by DVV Entertainment is slated to have a grand worldwide release on January 7, 2022.

New release date of Shane Nigam’s Veyil announced

Shane Nigam’s long delayed film ‘Veyil’ is finally set for release. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting theatres on January 28, 2022. Debutant Sarath Menon is directing the film and Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing it.

During its production, ‘Veyil’ was in the news for all the wrong reasons. Shane Nigam had then made severe allegations against producer Joby George of giving him death threats. The producer in turn accused Shane of unprofessional behaviour, which eventually stalled shoot. Works resumed after the intervention of various parties. However, things worsened when Shane walked out of the location and shaved his hair as a mark of protest against the crew. This eventually lead to the youngster getting a temporary ban from Malayalam film industry. All the issues were settled after multiple rounds of discussions. The makers will be hoping that all the struggle and efforts that went behind the making of ‘Veyil’ is worth it.

From the trailer, the film looks like a coming-of-age story of a youngster named Siddharth. ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Merin Jose Pottackal, James Eliya, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreerekha Sudhi Koppa and many others are part of the supporting cast. At the 51st Kerala State Awards, Sreerekha had won the award for Best Character Actor (Female).

Ajai Vasudev’s next titled Pakalum Paathiravum

Director Ajai Vasudev has announced his next. Titled ‘Pakalum Paathiravum’, the film stars Kunchacko Boban and Rajisha Vijayan as the leads. ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ fame Manoj KU, Seetha and Tamizh will be seen in prominent roles.

Ajai Vasudev is known for his recurring collaborations with Mammootty. All his previous films were over-the-top mass entertainers but the director seems to be attempting something new with ‘Pakalum Paathiravum’. Nishad Koya is scripting the film and it is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner Sree Gokulam Movies. VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan are the co-producers.

Faiz Siddik, noted for his work in ‘Operation Java’, is the cinematographer and music department will be handled by Stephen Devassy and Kedar (background score). Riyas K Badhar is the editor.

Director Ajai Vasudev had earlier announced another film titled ‘Nalaam Thoonu’ with Sree Gokulam Movies. Touted to be a political thriller, it was announced with Asif Ali, Neeta Pillai, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Arjun Ashokan in main roles. The current status of that project is not known.

It has been announced that the Unni Mukundan starrer ‘Meppadiyan’ will be hitting screens on January 14, 2022. Superstar Mohanlal announced the release date by sharing a new song from the film. Interestingly, Unni himself has sung the track. The actor, who is also producing ‘Meppadiyan’, has pinned high hopes on the film. Sharing his excitement, he wrote in his Facebook page,

Jan 14th, almost a decade back I had given my first shot as an actor and I can’t be any happier to let you all know that this Jan14th, I happily bring to you Meppadiyan, produced Under my banner, UnniMukundanFilms! See you at the theatres!

‘Meppadiyan’ is directed by debutant Vishnu Mohan. The film promises to be a complete family entertainer. Anju Kurian of ‘Jack and Daniel’ fame plays the female lead. ‘Meppadiyaan’ has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of actors like Saiju Kurup, Kottayam Ramesh, Major Ravi, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nisha Sarang, Indrans, Kundara Johny, Sreejith Ravi and Pauly Valsan.

We had earlier reported about Sunny Wayne reuniting with ‘French Viplavam’ director Maju KB for a film titled ‘Appan’. The actor himself is producing the film along with Josekutty Madathil and Ranjith Manambarakkat’s banner Tiny Hands Productions.

Last day, Sunny Wayne’s close friend Dulquer Salmaan released the first look poster through his social media handle. The poster has Sunny in a new getup as a rubber plantation worker. Sharing it, Dulquer wrote,

‘Appan’ has its story by Maju and he has penned the screenplay along with R Jayakumar. It also stars Alencier Ley Lopez, Ananya, Grace Antony, and Pauly Valsan in major roles. The film has Pappu cranking the camera and Dawn Vincent has scored the music. Kiran Das will be handling the edits.

Sunny Wayne, who was last seen in ‘Kurup’, has ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ lined up for release. The film directed by Rajeev Ravi is also a cop investigative-thriller that also stars Asif Ali, Sharafudheen, Senthil Krishna and Alencier.
