Shoot for Mammootty-Amal Neerad film Bheeshma Parvam resumes

After a break caused by the lockdown and worsening pandemic situation, the makers of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ have resumed shoot in Ernakulam. Directed by Amal Neerad, the film has Mammootty playing the lead character. It is a hugely hyped film as the actor-director duo are teaming up after a 14-year-long gap. Their last film ‘Big B’ has a cult status among Malayalam movie lovers.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is said to be a gangster flick in which Mammootty plays a larger-than-life mass character. Newcomer Devadath Shaji has scripted the film along with Amal Neerad. The cast includes Soubin Shahir, Farhaan Faasil, ‘Kettyolaan Ente Malakha’ fame Veena Nandakumar, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, Nadiya Moidu, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathy and Lena.

Anend C Chandran of ‘Neram’ and ‘Premam’ fame is the cinematographer and music is by Sushin Shyam. Amal Neerad is producing the film under his banner, Amal Neerad Productions. The makers are expected to wrap up the remaining portions in quick time.

Recently, as Mammootty completed his 50th year in cinema, many of his fans and well-wishers congratulated him through social medias. His colleagues from the industry like Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Manju Warrier, Prithviraj, Sumalatha etc also showered their wishes.

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi took to his Twitter handle to share a lovely little note on Mammootty’s glorious journey so far and how delighted he was to be a part of it. The tweet reads,

Malayali filmmaker Sreejith Vijayan, who has directed films like ‘Kuttanadan Marpappa’ and ‘Margamkali’, is next helming a multilingual film starring Sunny Leone. Titled as ‘Shero’, it has Sunny in an action avatar. Its first look poster featuring the actress in a fierce look got released last day.

first look of Sunny Leone’s new film Shero

From the first look, it is learnt that ‘Shero’ will be different from Sunny Leone’s usual films, which are mostly within her comfort zone. She seems to have taken up a challenging role this time. It is basically a psychological thriller that follow the story of Sarah Mike, a US-born woman with roots in India, played by Sunny. Everything around her changes during a holiday taking her on a rollercoaster journey to quench her quest for truth.

‘Shero’ will be releasing in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film is being produced by Ikigai Motion Pictures.

‘Darlings’, a dark comedy, is set in a lower middle-class neighbourhood in Mumbai. It is a quirky mother-daughter story revolving around the two who discover love and courage in exceptional circumstances. Debutant Jasmeet K Reen is directing the film. Alia Bhatt and Shefali play the lead roles. Roshan, who made his Bollywood debut last this year with Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Choked’, is essaying a prominent role.

Red Chillies Entertainment headed by Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are presenting ‘Darlings’ in association with Alia Bhatt’s newly launched Eternal Sunshine Productions.

Virunnu: Arjun Sarja to play the lead in Kannan Thamarakkulam’s next

Veteran Tamil actor Arjun Sarja is playing the lead in a new Malayalam film titled ‘Virunnu’. It is directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam and scripted by Dinesh Pallath. Last day, the makers released the film’s title poster.

‘Virunnu’ marks the fifth outing of director Kannan Thamarakkulam and scriptwriter Dinesh Pallath together. The duo has previously teamed up for ‘Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare’, ‘Aadupuliyattam’, ‘Pattabhiraman’ and ‘Maradu 357’. Their new film ‘Virunnu’ is expected to be a thriller.

Along with the title poster, the makers have also announced the cast and crew. Mukesh, Nikki Galrani, Asha Sarath, Baiju Santhosh, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Hareesh Peradi, Dracula Sudheer and Gireesh Neyyar are part of the film. ‘Virunnu’ will have music by Ratheesh Vega and Sanadh George Grace. Cinematography is Ravichandran and VT Sreejith handles the edits.

Amidst the rising Covid cases in the State, the team has managed to successfully complete the first schedule, which lasted for 17 days.

Official: Malayali actors Shine Tom Chacko and Aparna Das join Beast team

Vijay’s ‘Beast’ is getting bigger by the day. Last day, the makers announced the names of new cast members. Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Ankur Ajit Vikal, VTV Ganesh, Liliput Faruqui and Malayali actors Shine Tom Chacko and Aparna Das have joined the team. The latter two are making their Tamil debut with this film.

Shine’s performances in ‘Ishq’, ‘Unda’ and ‘Love’ were widely praised and it has clearly helped him bagging a role in ‘Beast’. Likewise, Aparna is also noted for her roles in the Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Njan Prakashan’ and ‘Manoharam’. Both of them couldn’t have asked for a bigger launch in Tamil.

‘Beast’ is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of ‘Kolamavu Kokila’ fame. Pooja Hegde of ‘Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo’ fame is paired with Vijay. The makers have already shot quite a few portions featuring them including a song.

Produced by Sun Pictures, ‘Beast’ is planned as a pan-Indian project. It is touted to be a big-budget action thriller in which Vijay reportedly plays a con-agent. The film has Anirudh Ravichander as the music director and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.

‘Meppadiyan’ promises to be a complete family entertainer. Unni, who is normally associated with stylish urban roles, will be seen as an ordinary guy named Jayakrishnan in the film. Anju Kurian of ‘Jack and Daniel’ fame is paired with him. Earlier, the makers had released a song titled ‘Kannil Minnum’, which was sung Karthik and Nithya Mammen. With over 1.5 million views in YouTube, the song was a big hit.

‘Meppadiyaan’ has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of actors like Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nisha Sarang, Indrans, Kundara Johny, Sreejith Ravi and Pauly Valsan. Cinematography is by Neil D’Cunha and edits are handled by Shameer Muhammed.

‘Pada’Pada’ marks the debut of director Kamal KM in Malayalam. His maiden film ‘I.D’ in Hindi was a critically acclaimed work that went on to be screened at many international film festivals across the world. Kamal himself has scripted ‘Pada’ that is based on a real-life incident that occurred in Kerala during the 90s.

The film’s cast also includes actors like Prakash Raj, Kani Kusruti, Indrans, Salim Kumar, TG Ravi, Shine Tom Chacko, Shanker Ramakrishnan, Jagadheesh, Kottayam Ramesh and Santhosh Keezhattoor. Cinematographor Sameer Thahir, music director Vishnu Vijayan, editor Shaan Muhammed, art director Gokul Das and costume designer Stephy Xaviour are part of the technical team.

Simbu and Gautham Menon are teaming up for a new film titled as ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’. Its first look poster got released last day and Simbu looks almost unrecognizable in the lean makeover. It is learnt that the actor has shed close to 15 kgs for this role.

‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ promises to be a completely different film from Gautham Menon’s usual works. Reports suggest that it is a rural action-drama, a genre that the director has not attempted before. The film has its story written by Jeyamohan.

Shooting is set to begin in Tiruchendur, followed by locations in Mumbai and Chennai. AR Rahman will be composing the music. It is the third time collaboration of AR Rahman, Simbu and Gautham Menon after ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ and ‘Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada’.

Cinematography is by ‘Lucia’ fame Siddhartha Nuni. Art director Rajeevan, lyricist Thamarai, editor Anthony and costume designer Uthara Menon are also part of the team.
