Watch: Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi trailer gets the thriller mood right

The trailer of Vishnu Unnikrishnan-Saniya Iyappan starrer ‘Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi’ has been released online. As promised from the initial promos, including a highly impressive animation teaser, the film is a mystery thriller with a horror mood. Vishnu plays a home nurse’s character named Unni Kanna who goes for work at a mysterious house located within a dense forest. Saniya Iyappan essays one of the inmates there. From the trailer, we get to see glimpses of some mysterious incidents that occur at the home and how it becomes a trap.

‘Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi’ is directed by Sooraj Tom, who has previously helmed ‘Pa Va’ and ‘Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal’. Anand Madhusoodanan, the music director of ‘Pretham’ and ‘Njan Marykutty’, has scripted the film. Dharmajan Bolgatty, Vijilesh, Santhosh Damodar, Abhija Sivakala, Sherin and a few others are part of the supporting cast.

On the technical front, Jithu Damodar is the cinematographer and background score is handled by script writer Anand Madhusoodanan himself. Kiran Das is the editor. Noble Jose is producing this film under the banner of Peppercorn Studios.

Ambalamukkile Visheshangal: Gokul Suresh’s next announced

Gokul Suresh has signed a new film titled ‘Ambalamukkile Visheshangal’. Jayaram Kailas is directing the film and it scripted by Umesh Krishnan. Superstar Mohanlal announced the project officially by releasing the motion poster through his Facebook page.

From the title and motion poster, ‘Ambalamukkile Visheshangal’ looks like a rural based feel-good entertainer. Lal, Ganapathy, Shaheen Siddique, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Ishni, Mareena Michael, Biju Kuttan, Sudheer Karamana, Major Ravi, Harikrishnan, Murali Chand, Shaju Sreedhar, Noby, Ullas Panthalam, Aziz Vodafone, Sunil Sugatha, Aneesh G Menon, Sona Nair, Shreyani, Kootikkal Jayachandran and Vanitha Krishnachandran are part of the film’s elaborate supporting cast.

Sarathchandran Nair is producing the film under the banner of Chand Creations. Cinematography is by Abdul Rahim and Ranjan Abraham will be handling the edits. Arul Dev and Ranjin Raj are composing the songs while the latter alone holds the background score.

‘Minnal Murali’ shoot is nearing completion. Last day, the makers wrapped up the schedule in Hassan, Karnataka where huge sets erected. Only a few more portions remain to be shot, which is expected to be completed in quick time. Meanwhile, it has been announced that the film’s new poster will be out tomorrow. Superstar Mohanlal will be sharing it through his social media handle.

Minnal Murali’ is an ambitious superhero film directed by Basil Joseph. It film is scripted by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. Tovino Thomas plays the lead role of a local superhero in the film. Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram also plays an important role. Aju Varghese, Baiju Santhosh, Harisree Ashokan, Mammukoya, debutante Femina George and many others are part of the cast. Cinematographer Sameer Thahir, music director Shaan Rahman and Hollywood-based action choreographer Vlad Rimburg form the core technical team.

‘Minnal Murali’ is planned as a pan-Indian film that will be released in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing the film.

The Priest enters second successful week of theatrical run

Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’ has successfully entered its second week of theatrical run. After months of waiting and multiple postponing, the film finally got released on March 11 amidst huge hype. Fans lapped up the film and as expected, it took a big opening at the box office.

‘The Priest’ is the first major release in Malayalam after a year and theatre owners are extremely pleased with its performance. Its release has proved to be a major booster for theatres in Kerala. Representatives of the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) even visited Mammootty at his residence to thank him for helping in reviving the dwindling theatre business. Its success is a clear indication that the common audience, mainly comprising of families, are returning back to enjoy the big screen experience after a long gap caused due to the pandemic.

‘The Priest’ is a mystery thriller directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko. The film also has Manju Warrier, Nikhila Vimal, Saniya Iyappan and Baby Monica in prominent roles. It is jointly produced by Anto Joseph, B Unnikrishnan and VN Babu.

In the film, Abhishek’s character name has been changed to Hemant Shah. Kookie Gulati is directing the film that also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Nikita Dutta, Saurabh Shukla and Sohum Shah in important roles.

Last year, a web series titled ‘Scam 1992’ was released on Song Liv based on the same Harshad Mehta story. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the show was a huge success that went on to gain nationwide acclaim. Pratik Gandhi’s performance as Harshad Mehta was unanimously appreciated. Shreya Dhanwanthary essayed the role of Sucheta Dalal, the financial journalist who first broke news about the scam. In ‘Big Bull’, Ileana D’Cruz is playing this role. Since ‘Scam 1992’ was such a big success, comparisons will surely be made. Moreover, the trailer also has some glaring similarities.

The movie is all set to stream exclusively for the subscribers of Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Disney+ Hotstar Premium on April 8, 2021.

In the Tamil version, Simran plays Tabu’s role from the original. Priya Anand is the latest addition to the team. She essays the part done by Radhika Apte. The trailer of the upcoming Bollywood film ‘Chehre​​’ has been released online. It stars Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi as the leads. The film is directed by Rumy Jafry and produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures & Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited. From the trailer, the film looks like a thriller set in a huge mansion in a snowy hill region.

Ranjit Kapoor has scripted the film jointly with Rumy Jafry. The trailer shows Emraan Hashmi as an ad agency executive who takes shelter at Amitabh Bachchan’s home in the mountains amid a dangerous snow storm. Amitabh and a group of veterans hook Emraan up for a game of crime and punishment. While it is interesting and intriguing at first, Emraan soon finds himself trapped in their game.

‘Chehre’ also stars Annu Kapoor, Krystle D’Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Drithiman Chatterjee, Raghubir Yadav and Siddhanth Kapoor. Binod Pradhan is the cinematographer and sound design is handled by Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty. The film is set for a grand theatrical release on April 9, 2021.

Suriya 40: Suriya starts shooting for his next with Pandiraj

Suriya has finally joined the sets of his new film with director Pandiraj. Though the film was launched last month, Suriya could not join the sets as he was still recovering from Covid-19 infection. Just a while back, he took to his Twitter handle to share of a photo from the sets. In this silhouette pic, he is seen holding a gun. He also added that it feels good to be back on sets.

Tentatively titled as ‘Suriya 40’, the film is produced by Sun Pictures. Touted to be a mass entertainer, the film has an elaborate star cast. Priyanka Arul Mohan of ‘Gang Leader’ fame plays the female lead. The makers have signed Vinay of ‘Unnale Unnale’ fame as the antagonist. Raj Kiran, Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Jayaprakash, Ilavarasan, Devadarshini, Subbu Panchu Arunachalam and ‘Vada Chennai’ fame Saran will be seen in supporting roles.

On the technical front, the film has Rathnavelu as the cinematographer and D Imman as the composer. Ruben handles the edits and AnbAriv duo is choreographing the stunts.

Shankar to remake Anniyan in Bollywood with Ranveer Singh?

If reports are to be believed, Tamil filmmaker Shankar is planning to team up with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh. It is said that the director is set to remake his own blockbuster film ‘Anniyan’ in Hindi with Ranveer as the lead. It must be remembered that ‘Anniyan’ was dubbed and released in Hindi as ‘Aparichit’. It is a very popular film among the North Indian audience as it is one of the most telecast films in Hindi television channels. So the makers are not eyeing a scene-by-scene remake as such.

Since ‘Anniyan’ was released 16 yeaes back in 2005, Shankar is reportedly planning to adapt ‘Anniyan’ in such a way that the story is set in today’s timeline. With a big star like Ranveer Singh on board, the film is expected to be made on a much bigger scale than the original. A confirmation is still awaited.

Meanwhile, Shankar’s immediate next will be with Telugu star Ram Charan. Dil Raju and Shirish are producing the film under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Though the makers are yet to confirm, it is said that they planning a pan-Asian film. There were even reports about them approaching South Korean actor Bae Suzy to star opposite Ram Charan.
