Nizhal: Here’s a new poster featuring Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara

The makers of upcoming Malayalam film ‘Nizhal’ have released a new poster featuring the two lead actors — Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara. It is the first time that the two are acting together and that is one of the reasons to look forward to the film. The film has Kunchacko Boban playing the role of a first class judicial magistrate named John Baby. Details about Nayanthara’s character have not yet been revealed.

‘Nizhal’ marks the directorial debut of Appu N Bhattathiri, who is a State Award winning editor noted for his works in critically acclaimed films like ‘Oraalpokkam’, ‘Ozhivudivasathe Kali’, ‘Manhole’, ‘Ottamuri Velicham’ etc. The film scripted by newcomer S Sanjeev is said to be a mystery thriller.

On the technical front, director Appu N Bhattathiri is editing the film along with Arunlal SP. Sooraj S Kurup is handling the music department and cinematography is done by Deepak D Menon. The film is being jointly produced by Anto Joseph, Abhijith M Pillai, Badusha, Fellini TP and Ginesh Jose.

Mammootty’s eagerly awaited film ‘One’ is finally set for release. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens this Friday (March 26). ‘One’ is directed by Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay. It is a political film with a huge star cast. Mammootty plays the lead role of Kerala Chief Minister Kadakkal Chandran in it.

Along with Mammootty, the film has a large supporting cast. Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Murali Gopy, Ranjith, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mamukoya, P Balachandran, Mathew Thomas, Prem Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Ishaani Krishna and many others are part of the cast.

As ‘Ajagajantharam’ gears up to hit screens on May 28, the makers have released a new poster. Just like the previous poster, this one is also designed in the shape of an elephant. The film is set in the backdrop of a temple festival and the poster also gives an idea of what’s in store.

Directed by ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ fame Tinu Pappachan, ‘Ajagajantharam’ promises to be an action-packed entertainer. The film is scripted by ‘Angamaly Diaries’ (AD) actors Vineeth Viswam and Kichu Tellus. Antony reportedly plays the lead role of a mahout in the film.

Gokul Das is the art director and Renganaath Ravee handles the sound design.

Emmanuel Joseph and Ajith Thalapilly are jointly producing the film under the banner of Silver Bay Studios.

Dhanush starrer Karnan teaser to be released tomorrow

The makers of Dhanush’s upcoming film ‘Karnan’ have made the official announcement regarding the teaser release date. It will be out tomorrow (March 23) evening. Directed by Mari Selvaraj, the film has massive hype among Tamil cinema lovers. The makers have so far released 3 songs — ‘Kanda Vara Sollunga’, ‘Thattan Thattan’, ‘Pandarathi Puranam’ — and all of them have been well received. Santhosh Narayanan handles the music department.

‘Karnan’ is a rural-based film that is partly inspired from real life incidents. It promises to be an intense and hard-hitting film, just like the director’s ‘Pariyerum Perumal’. Expectations for this film are high among cinema lovers as well as industry insiders.

‘Karnan’ has Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan paired with Dhanush. The supporting cast includes Lal, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Azhagar Perumal, Natarajan Subramanian, ’96’ fame Gouri Kishan and Yogi Babu.

Kollywood’s veteran producer Kalipuli S Thanu is producing the film under the banner of V Creations. It is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on April 9.

For a while now, there have been speculations about music maestro AR Rahman being a part of Mohanlal’s upcoming film ‘Aarattu’. While Rahul Raj handles the music department in the film, it was said that Rahman would be making a special appearance as himself. As it turns out, those were not just mere speculations. Last day, Mohanlal and AR Rahman shot together for a song sequence in Chennai. It is said that the composer has recreated his famous ‘Mukkala Muqabla’ song for the film and he will also be making a guest appearance.

This cameo marks Rahman’s first collaboration with Mohanlal in a Malayalam film after 29 long years. He had earlier composed for the superstar’s 1992-hit film ‘Yodha’. Interestingly, it is also the only Malayalam film that Rahman has worked in so far.

‘Aarattu’ is directed by B Unnikrishnan and scripted by Udhayakrishna. The makers have promised that the film will be a full-on mass entertainer that would appeal to all sections of the audience. Popular South Indian actress Shraddha Srinath plays the female lead in the film. The elaborate supporting cast also includes Siddique, Sai Kumar, Nedumudi Venu, Indrans Vijayaraghavan, Swasika, Rachana Narayanankutty and Sheela.

Watch: Aanum Pennum trailer released

The trailer of upcoming film ‘Aanum Pennum’ has been released online. It is anthology of three films directed by Aashiq Abu, Venu and ‘Ezra’ fame Jay K. All the three films are based on man-woman relationships. The stories are set in three different eras with romance, lust and betrayal as the themes.

Aashiq Abu’s film stars Roshan Mathew, Darshana Rajendran, Nedumudi Venu and Kaviyoor Ponnamm. Unni R has scripted it. Shyju Khalid has cranked the camera and edits are handled by Saiju Surendran. Bijibal has composed the music for this segment.

Venu’s segment in the film is the adaptation of Sahitya Akademi Award winning writer Uroob’s popular short story ‘Rachiyamma’. Parvathy and Asif Ali play the lead roles in it. Venu has also penned the script and handled the camera. Editing is done by his wife Bina Paul.

Jay K’s film has Samyuktha Menon, Indrajith Sukumaran and Joju George as the leads. Scripted by Santhosh Echikkanam, the film is set in the 50s. This segment has cinematography by ‘Thottappan’ fame Suresh Rajan and editing by Bavan Sreekumar.

As announced by the makers, the film is scheduled to hit screens on March 26.

Dulquer Salmaan has announced that the teaser of his highly anticipated film ‘Kurup’ will be out on March 26. A new poster featuring the star in a stylish suited getup has also been shared. Touted to be the biggest film of his career, ‘Kurup’ has had massive hype right from the time of its announcement. Srinath Rajendran of ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’ fame is directing the film. It is based on India’s most wanted fugitive, Sukumara Kurup. Jithin K Jose has written the story and screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair.

While Dulquer plays Kurup’s role, Indrajith Sukumaran essays the part of the investigating police officer. Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko, Vijayaraghavan, Surabhi Lekshmi and many others are part of the star-studded cast. On the technical front, cinematographer Nimish Ravi, music director Sushin Shyam, production designer Vinesh Bangalan and editor Vivek Harshan form the core team.

Official: Fahadh Faasil plays the villain in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa

The makers of Allu Arjun’s upcoming film ‘Pushpa’ have just made a huge announcement. Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil has been roped in to play the antagonist’s role in the film. With Allu and Fahadh facing off for the first time ever, it is indeed one of the biggest casting coup in recent times.

Directed by Sukumar, ‘Pushpa’ is a mass-action entertainer planned as a pan-Indian release. The film grabbed attention right from the time of its announcement. Its first look poster had Allu Arjun undergoing a major makeover as he sported a rugged, local look.

The makers had initially signed Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi to play the villain’s role. However, due to the unexpected Covid-19 crisis and following date issues, he had to pull out of the project. He had personally met director and conveyed about his busy schedule that forced him to opt out. With Fahadh replacing him, the hype around the film has only scaled up.

It is said that the film revolves around the smuggling of red sanders in the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the film has Allu Arjun playing a lorry driver and Fahadh will be essaying the role of a forest officer.

‘Pushpa’ has Rashmika Mandanna as the heroine. Prakash Raj, Jagapati Babu, Harish Uthaman, Vennela Kishore, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Anish Kuruvilla and many others are part of the supporting cast. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music and Polish cameraman Miroslaw Kuba Brozek handles the camera.

As confirmed by the makers, the film will be releasing in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

‘Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir’ is directed by debutant Venkata Krishna Roghanth. Megha Akash of ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta’ plays the female lead. Kaniha, who is making her comeback to Kollywood after a very long gap, also essays an important role of a Sri Lankan Tamilian. Vivek, Mohan Raja, Riythvika, Chinni Jeyanth, Karu Pazhaniappan Magizh Thirumeni, Ragu Aditya and many others are part of the cast.

As per reports, ‘Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir’ is a musical thriller set in the backdrop of Christmas and New Year celebrations. It is learnt that the film focuses on an international issue. The film has camera cranked by Vetrivel Mahendran. Chandra Arts is producing the movie.

As informed earlier, the makers of Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Minnal Murali’ have released the motion poster online. Mohanlal shared it through his official Facebook page. The poster features Tovino in a superhero attire. It is the first time that the makers have unveiled his superhero look in the film.

‘Minnal Murali’ directed by Basil Joseph is a a local superhero film. It is planned as a pan-Indian film that will be released in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. In Telugu, the film has been titled as ‘Merupu Murali’. In Kannada, it’s ‘Minchu Murali’ and in Hindi, it’s ‘Mister Murali’. The original Malayalam title has been retained for the Tamil version as well.

‘Minnal Murali’ is scripted by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. Along with Tovino, Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram is also there in a major role.
