Mohan Kumar Fans release date announced

The makers of Kunchacko Boban’s new film ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ have announced that the film will be hitting screens on March 19. The film is directed by Jis Joy, who is has delivered back to back hits with ‘Sunday Holiday’ and ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’. Just like his earlier films, ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ is also expected to satisfy to all sections of the audience.

‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ has its story penned by the National award winners Bobby-Sanjay. Director Jis Joy has written the screenplay, dialogues and song lyrics. It is said to be meta-movie set in the world of cinema. According to Jis Joy, ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ will be on similar lines to ‘Udhayananu Tharam’.

Debutante Anarkali plays the female lead. The cast also includes Siddique, Vinay Forrt, Krishna Sankar, Sreenivasan, Mukesh, TG Ravi, Ramesh Pisharody, Srikanth Murali, Sethulekshmi and many others. Listin Stephen is producing the film under the banner of Magic Frames.

Watch: Pragathi band comes up with a reprise version of Kaadirangi song from CID Moosa

Pragathi, a music band headed by playback singer KS Harisankar has come up with the reprise version of the popular song ‘Kaadirangi’ from ‘CID Moosa’. Harisankar has sung the cover version with keys by Precious Peter. Abin Sagar handles the guitars with bass by Abhijith Sudhi and drums by Abishek Amanath.

CID Moosa is one of the most iconic characters in Malayalam cinema with a huge fan based among kids and youngsters. There has long been rumours about the film getting a sequel but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Interestingly, Dileep makes a special appearance as CID Moosa in this music video. He also tries to bring back Moosa’s funny accent and body language. The original song is composed by Vidyasagar and has lyrics penned by late Gireesh Puthancheri. It was sung by V Devanand, Prathap, Timmi and Tippu.

Pragathi’s reprise version is shot by Naveen Chempodi. KS Harisankar has panned the screenplay and it is edited by Renjit Varma.

Andhadhun Tamil remake titled Andhagan; Shoot begins today!

The Tamil remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Andhadhun’ has been titled as ‘Andhagan’ and it has gone on floors today. Prashanth is playing the lead role and his father Thiagarajan is directing the film. Gautham Menon was the original choice to direct the film but he later got replaced by Mohan Raja. After some creative differences, he also opted out of the project. The makers then signed JJ Fredrick of ‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ fame to helm the film. But it finally seems like Thiagarajan himself has decided to take over the responsibility.

‘Andhadhun’ directed by Sriram Raghavan is one of the most acclaimed films in recent years in Indian cinema. Apart from becoming a huge commercial success, the film also won several awards which includes three at the National level. Ayushmann, Radhika Apte and Tabu essayed the lead roles in it.

In the Tamil version, Simran has been confirmed to reprise the role played by Tabu in the original. The cast also includes Karthik, KS Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, Urvashi, Manobala, Vanitha Vijayakumar, Leela.Samson, Semmalar and Poovaiyaar.

Meanwhile, ‘Andhadhun’ is also getting remade in Telugu and Malayalam. The Telugu version is being directed by Merlapaka Gandhi. Nithiin, Nabha Natesh and Tamannaah Bhatia play the lead roles. In Malayalam, ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran is directing the film, which has been titled as ‘Bhramam’. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Raashi Khanna, Unni Mukundan and Mamta Mohandas star in it.

Martin Prakkat’s new film ‘Nayattu’ is gearing up to hit screens. The makers have announced that the film will be releasing on April 8. A release announcement poster featuring the lead actors — Joju George, Kunchako Boban and Nimisha Sajayan has also been shared online. All the three actors are seen wearing khakis in the poster.

‘Nayattu scripted by ‘Joseph’ fame Shahi Kabir is said to be a thriller. The film marks Martin Prakkat’s comeback to direction after a gap of six years. He last made the highly successful Dulquer Salmaan starrer ‘Charlie’. Naturally, expectations are high on his new film.

‘Nayattu’ has some big names in the technical side. Shyju Khalid is handling the cinematography and Mahesh Narayanan is editing the film. Vishnu Vijay of ‘Guppy’ and ‘Ambili’ fame is composing the music. Martin Prakkat is jointly producing the film in association with veteran director Ranjith and PM Sasidharan’s banner Gold Coin Motion Pictures.

Simran and Vani Bhojan to play the female leads in Chiyaan 60

Director Karthik Subbaraj’s new film with Vikram and his son Dhruv as the leads has started rolling today. Tentatively titled as ‘Chiyaan 60’, the film is produced by Lalit Kumar of 7 Screen Studio. The makers have got Simran and Vani Bhojan as the two female leads.

Simran had worked with Vikram in ‘Dhurva Natchathiram’ but the film is yet to hit screens. She had also done a special appearance in his 2003-film ‘Pithamagan’. Vani Bhojan, noted for her performance in ‘Oh My Kadavule’, will be seen essaying a major role in ‘Chiyaan 60’.

The makers had initially signed Anirudh Ravichander as the music director but he has now been replaced by Karthik Subbaraj’s frequent collaborator, Santhosh Narayanan. Informing the same, Karthik Subbaraj has tweeted,

The Priest all set to hit screens tomorrow; Watch new teaser here!

The Kerala government has granted permission to host second shows and with that, the release of Mammootty’s much-anticipated film ‘The Priest’ also got confirmed. The film is hitting screens tomorrow (March 11) and bookings have already opened. Meanwhile, the makers have shared a new teaser online. Just like the other promos, hardly anything is revealed about the plot.

Directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko, ‘The Priest’ promises to be a mystery thriller. Jofin has written the film’s story and screenplay is penned by ‘Kunjiramayanam’ fame Deepu Pradeep and Shyam Menon. It has a big star cast comprising of several known actors. Manju Warrier, Nikhila Vimal and ‘Kaithi’ fame Baby Monica are essaying prominent roles. Jagadheesh, Saniya Iyappan, Ramesh Pisharody, Ameya Mathew, ‘Nayika Nayakan’ fame Venkitesh and Tony Luke will be seen in supporting roles.

The film has cinematography by Akhil George and Shameer Muhammed as the editor. Rahul Raj is in charge of the music department. The film is being jointly produced by Anto Joseph, B Unnikrishnan and VN Babu.

Trailer of Mammootty’s One to be out tomorrow

Mammootty is set to have two back to back releases. While the mystery-thriller ‘The Priest’ is all set to hit screens this Thursday (March 11), his much-anticipated political film ‘One’ is also gearing up for release. The makers have informed that the film’s trailer will be out tomorrow at 6 PM.

‘One’ is scripted by Bobby-Sanjay and directed by Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame. Mammootty plays the lead role of Kerala Chief Minister Kadakkal Chandran in it. As confirmed by the makers, the film is not based on any real life person but about how an ideal Chief Minister of a State should function.

Along with Mammootty, the film has a large supporting cast. Nimisha Sajayan, Murali Gopy, Joju George, Ranjith, Mathew Thomas, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mamukoya, P Balachandran, Krishna Kumar and many others are part of the film. Vaidy Somasundaram is the
cinematographer and music department is handled by Gopi Sunder.

“All is well”, updates Nazriya on Fahadh Faasil’s injury!

Last week, Fahadh Faasil had sustained minor injuries while shooting for his new film ‘Malayankunju’. The actor fell down from a building while shooting for a sequence in Kochi. He was standing on the roof of a building, which was built for the film, when he lost balance and suffered a nasty fall. Fahadh fractured his nose and was immediately rushed to a hospital nearby where he underwent a minor procedure. He was later discharged and advised rest at home.

Fahadh’s better half Nazriya has now shared a photo in her Instagram handle updating that he is doing well. In one of the photos, the tape around Fahadh’s nose can be seen. The other photo has the couple hoding hands. Nazriya has captioned the photo as, “All is Well”.

Fahadh is expected to resume shooting for ‘Malayankunju’ as soon as he recovers from the injury. The film is directed by debutant Sajimon. Mahesh Narayanan, who had directed Fahadh in ‘Take Off’, ‘Malik’ and ‘CU Soon’, is scripting the film. Fahadh’s father, veteran director Fazil is producing the film.

Sufiyum Sujathayum fame Dev Mohan to star alongside Samantha in Shakuntalam

Model-turned-actor Dev Mohan, who grabbed eyeballs in ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’, has bagged a biggie next. He has been signed to play the male lead in the upcoming multilingual film, ‘Shakuntalam’. One of South Indian cinema’s most popular heroines, Samantha Akkineni plays the titular role in the film.

‘Shakuntalam’ is directed by Gunasekhar, who has made popular Telugu films like ‘Okkadu’ and ‘Rudhramadevi’. The film is based on Kalidasa’s epic Sanskrit play, Abhijnana Shakuntalam. It explores the love story of King Dushyantha and Shakuntala, the daughter of sage Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka. It is about their love affair, secret marriage, separation and reunion of the immortal love of the couple.

Dev Mohan will be seen playing the role of Dushyantha. The actor has been prepping up for the film for the last few months. He has undergone training in horse riding, sword fighting etc. Apart from that, he is also taking classes in Telugu. In Malayalam, Dev has committed for a film titled ‘Pulli’. Jiju Asokan of ‘Urumbukal Urangarilla’ fame is directing the film.

Aarkkariyam censored with U certificate; New release date announced

‘Aarkkariyam’ starring Parvathy, Biju Menon and Sharafudheen as the leads has been censored with a clean U certificate. The film which was originally scheduled for release on March 12 has now been pushed to April 3. It is a good move considering that they could avert a clash with Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’, which is releasing on March 11.

‘Aarkkariyam’ is the directorial debut of popular cinematographer Sanu John Varughese. It is scripted jointly by Sanu, Rajesh Ravi and Arun Janardhanan. The story is set during the initial days of pandemic. It is about a couple who travel from Mumbai to Kerala just before the nationwide lockdown is announced.

Parvathy and Sharafudheen will be seen as the married couple. Biju Menon essays the part of Parvathy’s father in the film. Saiju Kurup and Arya Salim are essaying other crucial roles in the film. The technical department includes G Sreenivas Reddy as the cinematographer and Mahesh Narayanan as the editor. Neha Nair- Yakzan Gary Pereira duo is composing the songs and background score is handled by Sanjay Divecha.

‘Aarkkariyam’ is produced jointly by filmmaker Aashiq Abu’s OPM Dream Mill and Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment.
