Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur to be paired with Dulquer Salmaan
Last July, on Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday, it was announced that he would be teaming up with Telugu filmmaker Hanu Raghavapudi for a romantic period drama. As per latest reports, shoot for the film is set to begin in April. The makers have got Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur to play the female lead’s role. She is noted for her roles in films like ‘Super 30’, ‘Batla House’ and the Netflix anthology ‘Ghost Stories’.
Hanu Raghavapudi’s film will have Dulquer Salmaan playing the role of an army officer named Lieutenant Ram. It is said to be a love story set in the 1960s. The team will be shooting in Hyderabad, Kashmir and some other locations. Vishal Chandrashekhar has been signed as the music director.
Swapna Cinema, one of the producers of Dulquer’s maiden Telugu film ‘Mahanati’, is producing this one as well. Priyanka Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies will be presenting the film, which is yet to be titled.
After Drishyam 2, Murali Gopy back in another prominent role in One
The multi-talented Murali Gopy is celebrating his birthday today. Many from within the industry including Prithviraj, Shanker Ramakrishnan, Madhupal, Indrajith and many others have wished Murali through social medias. On this special occasion, the makers of the upcoming political drama ‘One’ have released his character poster. Mammootty shared the poster along with adding his birthday wishes.
‘One’ has Murali Gopy essaying a prominent character named Marampally Jayanandan. The actor had last displayed a fine performance in ‘Drishyam 2’. Likewise, he is expected to come up with another solid performance in ‘One’. Reportedly, he is playing the opposition leader’s role in the film.
‘One’ is scripted by Bobby-Sanjay and directed by Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame. Mammootty plays the role of Kerala Chief Minister in it. Nimisha Sajayan, Joju George, Ranjith, Mathew Thomas, Gayathri Arun, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mamukoya and P Balachandran are part of the cast.

As reported by us earlier, India’s ace shuttler Saina Nehwal is getting a biopic made in Bollywood. Titled ‘Saina’, the film has Parineeti Chopra in the lead role. The film’s teaser has just been released online. The teaser begins with a voiceover by Parineeti and quickly moves into glimpses of Saina’s inspiring journey to become the World’s No.1 badminton player.
‘Saina’ is written and directed by Amol Gupte. The film was originally planned with Shraddha Kapoor. But she later opted out due to her schedule clashes. Parineeti later replaced and worked rigorously to play the shuttler’s role. From the teaser, it is evident that the actress has put in a lot of efforts for the film.
Saina Nehwal is the only Indian female badminton player to be ranked as World No 1. She became the first Indian badminton player to an Olympic medal by clinching bronze in 2012. She also has two medals each at the World Championships and Asian Games and has won a total of 5 medals at the Commonwealth Games including 3 gold medals.
‘Saina’, the film is produced by T-Series Films. It is scheduled to hit screens on March 26, 2021.
KGF and Kaithi fame Anbariv to choreograph action sequences in Thalapathy 65
Vijay’s next film, tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 65’, is set to begin in April. Nelson Dilipkumar is directing the film and it is produced by Sun Pictures. Pre-production works are currently underway with the makers finalizing the cast and crew. Manoj Paramahamsa has been signed as the cinematographer and music department will be handled by Anirudh Ravichander.
The makers have got stunt choreographers AnbAriv also on board. The duo is known for choreographing brilliant action sequences in ‘K.G.F: Chapter 1’, ‘Thadam’, ‘Madras’ and ‘Kaithi’. They even won a National award for their work in ‘K.G.F: Chapter 1’. ‘Thalapathy 65’ is their first film with Vijay, who is usually great with stunts. So fans can expect an action-packed treat.
‘Thalapathy 65’ is being planned as a pan-Indian film. Shoot is most likely to begin with a foreign schedule in Europe. The makers are yet to finalize the female lead but names like Pooja Hegde and Rashmika Mandanna are doing the rounds in social medias.
Fahadh Faasil sustained minor injuries while shooting for his new film ‘Malayankunju’. The actor fell down from the roof of a building while shooting for a sequence in Pathalam Studio, Kochi. He was stand on the roof of a building, which was built for the film, when he lost balance and suffered a nasty fall. As per reports, Fahadh fractured his nose and was immediately rushed to a hospital nearby. He had to undergo a minor procedure at the hospital. He was later discharged and is advised rest at home.
‘Malayankunju’ is directed by debutant Sajimon, who has assisted many senior filmmakers. Mahesh Narayanan, who had directed Fahadh in ‘Take Off’, ‘Malik’ and ‘CU Soon’, is scripting the film. The film is a survival thriller that is based on a natural calamity. Besides scripting the film, Mahesh Narayanan is also cranking the camera. Fahadh’s father, veteran director Fazil is producing the film.
Ajith practices rife shooting; Thala’s new look grabs attention
Tamil superstar Ajith is known for multiple interests besides acting. He is often seen getting into adventure sports and activities like car racing, bike rides, cycling etc. Of late, he has also been into rifle shooting. He had even participated in the State and National Rifle shooting competitions. He represented the Chennai Rifle Club in the 10 metre air rifle and 50 metre free pistol category during the 45th Tamil Nadu State Shooting Championship in 2019.
Last day, Ajith was spotted practicing rifle shooting at the Chennai Rifle Club. As soon as news spread about Ajith’s presence at the club, fans thronged in large numbers at the venue to catch his glimpse. He also posed patiently for a few pictures with his fans. Meanwhile, fans are still eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Valimai’. The film directed by H Vinoth has been in the making for well over a year. The makers have still one more schedule, which has been planned in Europe. New updates regarding the film are expected to be out soon.
Director Jis Joy is currently on a winning streak with his last two films — ‘Sunday Holiday’ and ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ — emerging as boxoffice hits. His soon-to-be released film ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ starring Kunchacko Boban also has high expectations. The film’s release got delayed due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the director has hinted that his next film will be with Prithviraj Sukumaran. Sharing a a photo taken with Prithviraj and producer Arun Narayan in his social media handle, Jis Joy has captioned it as ‘The Future Works’.
Jis Joy’s films are known for their high does of feel-goodness, which has worked well with the masses. His films made in a proper entertainer format appeals to all sections of the audience which makes him a ‘minimum guarantee’ director. It remains to be seen if he decides to change track for his next film with Prithviraj.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj has around 10 projects lined up in various stages of production. He is currently shooting for ‘Bhramam’, the remake of superhit Hindi film, ‘Andhadhun’. He has already completed shooting for ‘Cold Case’ and ‘Kuruthi’. ‘Jana Gana Mana’, ‘Theerppu’, ‘Kaduva’, ‘Vilayath Buddha’, ‘Ayalvaashi’, ‘Karachi 81’, ‘Neelavelicham’ and ‘Vaariyamkunnan’ are some of his other announced projects.

Netflix India on Wednesday announced its 2021 slate of original films, series, documentaries and comedy specials. It is a highly promising lineup with several big names from Bollywood and the South.

Kunchacko Boban to team up with Andorid Kunjappan director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval
Kunchacko Boban has one of the most promising line up of projects among Malayalam lead actors today. He has now added one more to his kitty. Earlier in the day, the star took to his social media handle to announce that he would be teaming up with Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval of ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ fame for a new film. Santhosh T Kuruvilla is producing the film. More details are expected to be out in the coming days.

Ratheesh had recently finished the shoot of his second film ‘Kanakam Kamini Kalaham’ starring Nivin Pauly. According to the director, it is a family drama that also has dark humour and satirical elements in it. Like his debut film ‘Android Kunjappan’, this one also deals with ordinary people and their lives. Grace Antony, Vinay Forrt, Joy Mathew and ‘Vikruthi’ fame Vincy Aloshious are also part of the film.
Kunchacko Boban meanwhile has ‘Naayattu’, ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’, ‘Beemante Vazhi’ and ‘Nizhal’ gearing up for release. ‘Ottu’ with TP Fellini, ‘Grrr’ with ‘Ezra’ fame Jay K, ‘Aaram Pathiraa’ with Midhun Manuel Thomas, ‘Neelavelicham’ with Aashiq Abu and ‘Ariyppu’ with Mahesh Narayanan are his other upcoming projects.
The Tamil remake of ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ got launched today. Aishwarya Rajesh is playing the lead role in the film and it is directed by R Kannan. The film is produced by Kannan’s Masala Pix and MKRP Productions. More details regarding the support cast and technical crew are awaited.

The film directed by Jeo Baby found great appreciation for its strong commentary against patriarchal norms and oppression against women in the name of social conditioning. Releasing directly on streaming platform Neestream, the film grabbed the attention of non-Malayalis and it invited lengthy discussions on various relevant topics. The film had stellar performances from its two lead actors — Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
