Here’s the trailer of Rana Daggubati-Vishnu Vishal starrer Kaadan!

The trailer of director Prabhu Solomon’s ambitious film ‘Kaadan’ has been released online. The film is actually a multilingual that is simultaneously shot in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil with different cast across languages. ‘Baahubali’ star Rana Daggubati plays the lead role. Vishnu Vishal is part of the the Tamil and Telugu version. In the Hindi version, which is titled as ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, Pulkit Samrat essays the same role. The Telugu version is titled as ‘Aranya’. Shriya Pilgaonkar and Zoya Hussain are also part of the cast.

From the trailer, we can make out that it is a story about a corrupt government and corporates threatening to destroy the jungle and the eco-system of elephants. Rana plays the role of Bandev, a jungle man who lives with the elephants and leads the fight against the system.

The film will be hitting screens in all three languages simultaneously on April 2.

South Korean actor Bae Suzy to star opposite Ram Charan in Shankar’s pan-Asian film?

Recently, it was announced that director Shankar would be joining hands with Telugu star Ram Charan for a new film. Dil Raju and Shirish are producing the film under the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Though the makers are yet to confirm, it is said that they planning a pan-Asian film.

If reports are to believed, South Korean actor Bae Suzy has been approached to star opposite Ram Charan in this film. Bae Suzy is a popular South Korean actor and singer and actor. She made her acting debut with the television series ‘Dream High’. She later went on to appear in series such as ‘Gu Family Book’, ‘Uncontrollably Fond’, ‘While You Were Sleeping’, ‘Vagabond’ and ‘Start Up’. She made her feature film debut with ‘Architecture 101’. Since her successful film debut she has been hailed as “The Nation’s First Love” in her home country.

If reports about Bae Suzy starring in the upcoming Shankar-Ram Charan project turns out to be true, the film is certain to grab widespread attention.

‘Aanum Pennum’, an anthology of three films helmed by Aashiq Abu, Venu and Jay K, is gearing up to hit screens on March 26. The makers have released some new posters online. Venu’s segment in the film is the adaptation for Sahitya Akademi Award winning writer Uroob’s popular short story ‘Rachiyamma’. Parvathy and Asif Ali play the leads in it. Venu has penned the script and handled the camera. Editing is done by his wife Bina Paul.

Minnal Murali shoot resumes in Karnataka

After almost a 10-month long gap caused due to the pandemic, the makers of ‘Minnal Murali’ have resumed shoot. Huge sets have been erected in Karnataka where the team is currently filming some important portions. From the location stills, the sets look similar to the one that was erected in Kalady, which later got demolished by Hindu extremist groups.

Last year, in May, Bajrang Dal activists demolished the structure of a huge church erected for the film’s shoot. The film’s climax portions were supposed to be shot in this church. Unfortunately, the Kalady schedule could not begin in time due to the lockdown. The activists stormed the area and vandalised the set alleging that it stood on Hindu grounds. Later, many from the industry came out calling the incident and requested the government to take severe action against the perpetrators. The makers had to suffer a colossal loss due to the unfortunate incident.

‘Minnal Murali’ is an ambitious superhero film directed by Basil Joseph of ‘Kunjiramayanam’ and ‘Godha’ fame. Tovino Thomas plays the lead role of a local superhero in the film. Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram also plays an important role. The film is scripted by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew. It is planned as a pan-Indian film that will be released in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing the film.

No second shows in Kerala; The Priest release postponed yet again!

Much to the disappointment of fans, the makers of Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’ have postponed the film’s release. The film was scheduled to fit screens on March 4 but the plan has been dropped as the Kerala government has denied permissions for second shows in fear of the second wave of pandemic.

Though theatres in Kerala resumed functioning in January, box office collections have been very ordinary so far. The 50% audience cap and no second show means that footfalls have been very less in theatre across the state. Various talks were held between the government officials, producers association and exhibitors union. However, they couldn’t arrive on a common ground regarding the permission for second shows, which has forced the makers of ‘The Priest’ to pull out at the last moment.

Directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko, ‘The Priest’ promises to be a mystery thriller. The promos have been impressive and expectations were high among fans. The makers will be hoping that the situation gets better, so that the government grants permission for 4 shows at the earliest.

After the smashing success of the first single ‘Kandaa Vara Sollunga’, the makers of Dhanush’s ‘Karnan’ have released a new song online. Titled as ‘Pandarathi Puranam’, the song is rendered by veteran composer Deva and Reetha. Lyrics is penned Yugabharathi and the song is set to tunes by Santhosh Narayanan.

‘Karnan’ directed by Mari Selvraj is a rural-based film that is partly inspired from real life incidents. It promises to be an intense and hard-hitting film just like Mari Selvaraj’s directorial debut ‘Pariyerum Perumal’. Expectations are huge among fans as well as general cinema lovers.

The film has Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Lal, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Azhagar Perumal, Natty aka Natarajan Subramanian, ’96’ fame Gouri Kishan and Yogi Babu. The film is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on April 9. Kollywood’s veteran producer Kalipuli S Thanu is producing the film under the banner of V Creations.

Shoot for Mammootty-Amal Neerad film ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is currently progressing at a brisk pace. Since the director prefers to stay tight-lipped about his films during shoot, they have not shared any details, which includes the film’s genre. Despite that, some leaked location stills of Mammootty are doing the rounds in social medias. Major portions of the film will be shot in a swanky bungalow near Cherthala.

Veteran actress Nadiya Moidu has joined the cast of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’. She took to Instagram to share video of her flight arriving at Kochi and added that she was flying down for the shoot. Though details regarding her character are not yet known, it is expected to be a prominent one as she is very choosy about her projects. The cast also includes Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathy and Lena.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is scripted by newcomer Devadath Shaji along with Amal Neerad. Anend C Chandran of ‘Neram’ and ‘Premam’ fame is cranking the camera and music is by Sushin Shyam. Amal Neerad is producing the film under his banner, Amal Neerad Productions.

Suriya’s new film with director Pandiraj recently went on floors. Sun Pictures is producing the film, which has been tentatively titled as ‘Suriya 40’. The film has a big supporting cast comprising of several known actors. Priyanka Arul Mohan of ‘Gang Leader’ fame plays the female lead’s role. Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Jayaprakash, Ilavarasan, Devadarshini, Subbu Panchu Arunachalam and ‘Vada Chennai’ fame Saran will be seen in supporting roles.

Latest addition to the cast is Rajkiran. The veteran, who is very choosy with his films, said to be cast in a very important role. Interestingly, it is after 20 long years that Suriya and Rajkiran are sharing screen space. They last worked together in the Bala directorial ‘Nandha’, which was a big turning point in Suriya’s career. Both their performances in it were praiseworthy.

‘Suriya 40’ is expected to be a proper commercial entertainer that appeals to all sections of the audience. It is said to be planned on lines of director Pandiraj’s last two films — ‘Kadaikutty Singam’ and ‘Namma Veettu Pillai’, both of which found wide acceptance among the families.

‘Suriya 40’ has Rathnavelu as the cinematographer and D Imman as the composer. Ruben handles the edits.

Ace Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal took to her social media handle to share the first look poster of her biopic. Titled ‘Saina’, the film has Parineeti Chopra in the lead role, playing the character of the Olympic medalist. It has also been announced that the film will be hitting screens on March 26, 2021.

‘Saina’ is written and directed by Amol Gupte. The film was originally planned with Shraddha Kapoor. The makers had even shared a first look poster featuring her. She had been training hard in badminton under the guidance of Indian team coach Pullela Gopichand. But she had to opt out due to her schedule clashes. Parineeti later stepped in her shoes and worked rigorously to play the shuttler’s role.

Saina Nehwal is the only Indian female badminton player to be ranked as World No 1. Her 2012 Olympic bronze medal win remains a defining moment in Indian sporting history. She has two medals each at the World Championships and Asian Games and has won a total of 5 medals at the Commonwealth Games including 3 gold medals. In the 2018 CWG, she won two gold medals in women’s singles and mixed category. Her inspiring story definitely deserves to be told and the makers will be hoping to do full justice to her incredible achievements.

Paappan: Joshiy’s multistarrer film all set to go on floors

It was recently announced that veteran director Joshiy would be reuniting with Suresh Gopi for a new film titled ‘Paappan’. The film has a solid star cast comprising of Sunny Wayne, Nyla Usha, Neeta Pillai and Gokul Suresh Gopi. Shoot for the film is all set to kick-start this Friday (March 5) in Kanjirappally. Pala and Erattupetta are the other major locations.

‘Paappan’ is written by RJ Shaan, who had earlier co-scripted ‘C/O Saira Banu’. According to him, the film is a family-based film with mystery and suspense elements in it. It is said that Suresh Gopi and Neeta Pillai play a father-daughter duo in the film and they both will be seen as cops. Kaniha, Vijayaraghavan, Asha Sarath, Tini Tom, Shammy Thilakan and many others are part of the film.

Cinematographer Ajay David Kachappilly, music director Jakes Bejoy and editor Shyam Sasidharan, who were all part of Joshiy’s last ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’, have been retained for ‘Paappan’ as well.
The film is being produced by David Kachappilly productions.
