‘Mumbai Saga’ is an upcoming Indian Hindi film directed by Sanjay Gupta. Starring John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi as the leads, the film promises to be an action-crime drama. The film’s trailer has been released online and it looks every bit like director Sanjay Gupta’s earlier films ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ and ‘Shootout at Wadala’.

‘Mumbai Saga’, set in 80s and 90s has Amartya Rao, an influential gangster and Emraan Hashmi as a daredevil police officer. The film also has an ensemble supporting cast comprising of Suniel Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte and Gulshan Grover.

‘Mumbai Saga’ shoot commenced in August 2019 and was halted midway in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. They later resumed in June 2020 and managed to wrap up shoot in October 2020. The film is now scheduled for a grand theatrical release on 19 March 2021. It is set to be Bollywood’s first big-scale mainstream release since the lockdown.

The makers of Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’ have released a new single online. Titled as ‘So Baby’, it is a western classical fusion song composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The composer has also lent his vocals along with Ananthakrrishnan. Lyrics is penned by Sivakarthikeyan. It is a beautiful song featuring the lead pair, Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Arul Mohan.

Doctor’ is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’ fame. The film was supposed to release last year but shoot got delayed due to the pandemic outbreak. The makers have finally announced that the film will be hitting screens on March 26.

‘Doctor’ promos have been highly impressive with Anirudh’s songs also becoming chartbusters. Vijay Karthik Kannan of ‘Aadai’ fame is the cinematographer and R Nirmal is the editor. The cast includes Vinay, Yogi Babu, Archana, Arun Alexandar, Deepa and Ilavarasu. Sivakarthikeyan is producing the film under his own banner SK Productions. KJR Studios will be presenting it.

Shoot for Mammootty-Amal Neerad film ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is currently progressing. Some leaked location stills of Mammootty and the vintage car he will be using in the film are doing the rounds in social medias. It is learnt that major portions of the film will be shot in a swanky bungalow near Cherthala.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is scripted by newcomer Devadath Shaji along with Amal Neerad. Ravishankar PT is credited with additional screenplay and RJ Murugan for additional dialogues. Though the makers are yet to confirm, it is said to be a gangster film.

Along with Mammootty, the cast comprises of actors like Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathy and Lena. Anend C Chandran of ‘Neram’ and ‘Premam’ fame is cranking the camera and music is by Sushin Shyam.

“Proud to be directed by a legend”, Pratap Pothen on being part of Mohanlal’s directorial debut Barroz

Mohanlal’s directorial debut ‘Barroz’ is all set to go on floors in March. The film’s pre-production including massive set works are progressing in Kochi. While Mohanlal himself plays the lead role in the film, the supporting cast mostly comprises of foreign actors from US, Spain, Portugal and Ghana. Veteran actor Pratap Pothen is the only one from Malayalam industry to join the team so far. He had earlier informed he plays the role of a voodoo doll in the film.

Last day, Pothen shared a photo taken with Mohanlal during one of their discussion sessions as part of ‘Barroz’. He has written that he feels proud to be directed by a legend like Mohanlal, who is a complete actor and a wonderful human being. Pothen’s post reads,

With the best .. I am proud to be directed by a legend Mohanlal he is a rare talent a complete actor and a wonderful human being thank you for having me be a part of your maiden effort as a director ..I am blessed.. Baroz (sic)

‘Barroz’ is an ambitious 3D-fantasy flick scripted by Jijo Punnoose, the visionary filmmaker who made India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’. Santosh Sivan is the cinematographer and production design is handled by Santhosh Raman. 13-year-old child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram is composing music for the film. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Recently, it was announced that Simbu and Gautham Menon would be teaming up for a new film. Last day, on the director’s birthday, the film’s title got revealed. Just like how it is usually for Gautham Menon’s films, this one has also got a beautiful Tamil title — Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan. A title poster has also been shared online.

AR Rahman will be composing music for the film and it will have lyrics by Thamarai. The trio of Simbu, Gautham Menon and AR Rahman have earlier worked together in ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ and ‘Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada’. ARR’s music in both the films were hugely successful and they will hoping to continue the magic again.

‘Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan’ is produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh of Vels International. Gautham Menon is currently working on ‘Joshua: Imai Pol Naan Kaakka’, which is also backed by the same banner. ‘Puppy’ fame Varun plays the lead role in the film, which promises to be an action film with a love story at the core.

Shoot for Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup wrapped up!

It has been four years since Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ got first announced and two years since it went on floors. After shooting in various locations in India and abroad, in over multiple schedules, the makers have finally managed to wrap up the film. The tail end portions where being shot for the last few days in Kochi. Dulquer took a break from the sets of Rosshan Andrrews’ film and joined ‘Kurup’ team to complete his portions.

Touted to be the biggest film in Dulquer’s career, ‘Kurup’ had massive hype right from the time of its announcement. Srinath Rajendran of ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’ fame is helming the film. It is based on India’s most wanted fugitive, Sukumara Kurup. Jithin K Jose has written the story and screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair.

While Dulquer plays Kurup’s role, Indrajith Sukumaran essays the part of the investigating police officer. Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko, Vijayaraghavan, Surabhi Lekshmi and many others are part of the supporting cast. On the technical front, cinematographer Nimish Ravi, music director Sushin Shyam, art director Vinesh Bangalan and editor Vivek Harshan form the core team.

Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films is producing the film along with M Star Entertainment. The makers have confirmed that the film will be releasing in multiple languages.

As informed earlier, the first single from ‘Member Rameshan 9aam Ward’ has been released online. Titled as ‘Alare Neeyennile’, the song is composed by Kalias Menon and sung by Ayraan and Nithya Mammen. Shabareesh Varma has penned the lyrics. It is a romantic song featuring the lead pair, Arjun Ashokan and Gayathri Ashok of Ladoo’ fame.

‘Member Rameshan 9th Ward’ is written and directed by debutants Anto Jose Pereira and Aby Treesa Paul. The film is said to be a full length political entertainer set in a rural backdrop. Arjun Ashokan plays the lead role of OM Rameshan. Johny Antony, Sabumon, Mamukkoya and Saju Kodiyan also play politicians in the film.

Chemban Vinod Jose, Shabareesh Varma, Indrans, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Mareena Michael and many others are part of the film’s supporting cast. Eldho Issac is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Kailas Menon. Deepu Joseph is the editor.

The film is produced by Boban-Moly duo under the banner of Boban and Moly Entertainment.

S Thaman begins composing for Kaduva

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much talked about film ‘Kaduva’ is expected to go on floors soon. Pre-production works are progressing in full swing. Music director S Thaman has already started composing works for the film. A photo taken with director Shaji Kailas during one of the recording sessions is doing the rounds in social medias.

Thaman is one of the most wanted music directors in Telugu film industry today. He is the first-choice for several big star films in Tollywood. ‘Kaduva’ marks his debut in Malayalam and his music is one of the biggest reasons to look forward to the film.

‘Kaduva’ was in the news after a legal battle ensued with the makers of Suresh Gopi’s 250th film. Jinu Abraham, the scenarist of ‘Kaduva’ had approached the court alleging that there were similarities between the two films. Both the films were based on the same character, Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan, which was inspired from the real-life story of Kurivanakunnel Kuruvachan, a planter-based in Pala. The Kerala high court then ordered a stay on the shoot and promotional activities of the Suresh Gopi starrer. It was later revamped with a new script and got titled as ‘Ottakomban’

‘Kaduva’ marks Shaji Kalias’ comeback to direction after a long gap. Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames are jointly producing it.

Thalapathy 65 to be a pan-Indian film

Vijay’s next film to be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar is most likely to begin in April. Sun Pictures is producing the film, which is tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 65’. Pre-production works are currently underway with the makers finalizing the cast and crew. During the film’s official announcement itself, it was confirmed that Anirudh will be composing the music. Latest to join the team is cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa. He is popular for his works in films like ‘Eeram’, ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’ and ‘Enai Noki Paayum Thotta’.

Manoj has previously worked with Vijay in ‘Nanban’, the Tamil remake of ‘3 Idiots’. Last day, he took to his Twitter handle to share his excitement in reuniting with Vijay. He also added that ‘Thalapathy 65’ will be a pan-Indian film. He has tweeted,

Director Nelson’s debut film ‘Kolamavku Kokila’ starring Nayanthara was a commercial success and his soon-to-be released film ‘Doctor’ with Sivakarthikeyan also has high expectations. It will be interesting to see how the young filmmaker has conceived ‘Thalapathy 65’ as a pan-Indian film. If done right, it will be a huge booster for Vijay’s growing popularity across the country.

We had recently reported about Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif coming together for Sriram Raghavan’s next film. The director, who is fresh from the massive success of ‘Andhadhun’, is planning make a fast-paced film with no interval. Buzz is that the film has been titled as ‘Merry Christmas’.

Bollywood-based medias are reporting that it will be an edge-of-the seat thriller. The film will have no room for an interval and will be a straight 90-minutes-long film. The makers are planning to start shoot in April and finish it with a 30 days long schedule. Ramesh Taurani is producing the film.

Vijay Sethupathi has multiple projects coming up in Tamil and is in talks for a couple in Telugu. He is making his Hindi debut with ‘Mumbaikar’, directed by Santosh Sivan. It is the official remake of hit Tamil film ‘Maanagaram’. The Hindi version also stars Vikrant Massey, Sanjay Mishra, Tanya Maniktala, Ranvir Shorey, Hridhu Haroon and Sachin Khedekar.
