Kutti Story song from Master fetches over 1 crore views!

As expected the first single from Vijay’s ‘Master’ has turned out to be a sensational hit. The track ‘Kutti Story’ is sung by the star himself. It is a groovy track composed by Anirudh with quirky Tanglish lyrics by Arunraja Kamaraja, who has earlier penned chartbusters like ‘Neruppu Da’ and ‘Varlaam Varlaam Vaa Bairavaa’.

Through it has just been a day since the song’s release, the lyric video of ‘Kutti Story’ has fetched a whopping 1 crore views in YouTube. Apart from Vijay’s lovely rendition, it is the animated visuals in the lyric video that has become an instant hit. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s associate Logi and a Coimbatore based 3D visualisation and animation company Realworks Studios were the brains behind the lyric video.

Unlike the usual lyric videos, ‘Kutti Story’ stands out thanks to the impressive visualisation that has a 3D-modelled Vijay moving his body to the tune alongside his students. The usage of emojis in the video are certain to attract the kids. The lyric verses appear as text written on a blackboard using a piece of chalk, as photocopied documents, on a college letter head, and as announcements stuck on a notice board are all novel ideas that are in sync with the theme of the film.

Vijay is reportedly playing a college professor in ‘Master’. Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as the villain. Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu, Arjun Das, Gouri Kishan and many others are part of the cast. The film is scheduled for worldwide release in April.

Collection Report: Ayyappanum Koshiyum continues to excel at the box office

The Sachy directorial ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is enjoying a great run the box office. From its first 8 days of theatrical run, the film has raked in over Rs 12.40 crore. It is also doing extremely well on overseas centres. In major Rest of India (RoI) centres like China and Bangalore, the film got only released recently. Since the word of mouth is positive, it should have a good run there as well.

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is a well-made mass entertainer that doesn’t question the sensibilities of the audience. The film has managed to satisfy all sections of the audience. It is the story of the two titular characters – Ayyappan Nair, a soon-to-retire policeman and Koshy Kurian, a retired havildar. It primarily revolves around the conflict between them. Though the plot might sound very thin, it is an intricately woven tale of revenge with a lot of important socio-political issues addressed.

It is the brilliant performances of the two lead actors, Biju Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran, that has worked big time for the film. Also worth a mention is the commendable performances by actors like Kottayam Ramesh, Anil Nedumangad, Anu Mohan, Gowri Nandha and some newcomers.
