Mammootty looks charismatic as ever in this new poster of One!

On New Year’s Day, the makers of Mammootty’s upcoming film ‘One’ had released a new poster. The star looks majestic and charismatic as ever in an all-white politician look. As reported earlier, he plays the role of a Chief Minister in the film. His character is named as Kadakkal Chandran.

‘One’ is a political drama scripted by Bobby-Sanjay. Santhosh Viswanath of ‘Chirakodinja Kinavukal’ fame is directing the film. Mammootty is acting in a political flick after a long gap in Malayalam and hence there’s a lot of expectations on the film. Writers Bobby-Sanjay have taken inspiration from some real life incidents to script this film. This is also the first time the duo is scripting a Mammootty starrer.

‘One’ has a bunch of talented supporting actors. Murali Gopy and Joju George will be seen in prominent roles as the opposition leader and party secretary, respectively. Nimisha Sajayan, Ranjith, Mathew Thomas, Gayathri Arun, Balachandra Menon, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Salim Kumar, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Mamukoya, Balaji Sharma and many others are part of the cast.

Vaidy Somasundaram is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Gopi Sunder. Sreelakshmi R is producing the film under the banner of Ichais Productions.

Release date of Soorarai Pottru teaser out

Last day, the second look poster of Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’ got released online. Along with that, it was also announced that the much awaited teaser will be out on January 7. The film is directed by ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame Sudha Kongara. She has also scripted the film along with Shalini Usha Nair.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ is an ambitious film that is awaited by man. It is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who is also a retired captain of the Indian army. Along with Suriya, the cast also includes Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu. Malayali actress Aparna Balamurali plays the female lead.

GV Prakash is composing the music and cinematography is done by Niketh Bommireddy. Academy Award winner Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment is producing ‘Soorari Pottru’ jointly with Suriya’s own production house, 2D Entertainment. The film also has a Telugu version which is titled as Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra. Though it’s confirmed to be a summer release, announcement regarding the exact release date has not yet been made.

The first look poster of Priyadarshan’s ambitious film ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ dropped in on New Year’s night exactly at the stroke of 12 AM. The poster featuring Mohanlal riding a horse became a big hit and went viral across various social media platforms. Along with the poster, there was a brief note written by Mohanlal which read,

The makers have also announced that the film will be releasing worldwide in a whopping 5000 theatres on March 26. Besides the original version, Malayalam, the film will also be releasing in 4 other languages. If the makers manage to pull it off, it will be the biggest ever release in Malayalam cinema history.

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is an epic period film based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Priyadarshan has penned the screenplay jointly with Ani IV Sasi. National award winning cinematographers Tirru and Sabu Cyril are part of the technical team.

The film’s cast includes actors from across the country like Suniel Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Keerthy Suresh, Manju Warrier, Ashok Selvan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Prabhu, Mukesh, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Fazil, Siddique, Baburaj, Nedumudi Venu, Hareesh Perady, Nandu, Innocent, Ganesh Kumar and Suresh Kumar.

Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing this mega budget film.

Asif Ali and Soubin Shahir team up for Thattum Vellattam

Asif Ali and Soubin Shahir are set to play the lead roles in Mridul Nair’s upcoming film ‘Thattum Vellattam’. Its official announcement was made last day by releasing the title poster. The film also stars Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Saiju Kurup and Jean Paul Lal. Safeer Ahmed, Rajeev Maroli, Masood TP and Sherin Vennamkattil are jointly producing the film under the banner of Mars Entertainment.

Mridul Nair is a former associate of VK Prakash. He made his debut in 2018 with the hit film, ‘B Tech’, that also had Asif Ali in the lead. The director’s new film looks, ‘Thattum Vellattum’ very promising with a good star cast. Moreover, the title is also a very intriguing one. ‘Vellattam’ is actually the first part of the Theyyam performance. It will be interesting to wait and see what kind of film Mrudul is planning to make.

Kando Kando: Mohanlal’s new romantic song grabs attention!

Mohanlal’s new film ‘Big Brother’ is set to hit screens month. Recently, on New Year’s Day, the makers had released the first video song online. The track titled ‘Kando Kando’ is composed by Deepak Dev. Bollywood’s top music director Amit Trivedi has made his Malayalam debut by rendering this track along with Gowri Lekshmi. Lyrics for this romantic track is written by Rafeeq Ahammed.

Mohanlal, Mirna Menon, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Irshad and Tini Tom feature in the song video. Mirnaa and Mohanlal look good together. It is after a long time that the superstar is featuring in such a romantic track. ‘Big Brother’ is written and directed by Siddique.

From the promos released so far, the film looks like an action-packed thriller with family emotions at the core. Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, Anoop Menon, ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid, Gadha, Honey Rose, Janardhanan, Satna Titus and Chemban Vinod Jose are part of the film’s cast.

‘Big Brother’ has cinematography done by Jithu Damodar and music department handled by Deepak Dev. Director Siddique, Jenso Jose, Philipose K Joseph, Manu Maliackal and Vaishak Rajan have jointly produced the film.

On the special occasion of New Year’s day, several new Malayalam films announced. One among them is ‘Operation Java’, which looks like a cop flick from the first look poster. It comes with the tagline, ‘Stories of Unsung Heroes’. Vinayakan, Balu Varghese, Irshad, Binu Pappu, Sudhi Koppa, Deepak Vijayan, Lukman, P Balachandran, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju and Prashanth Alexander play the major roles.

The film is written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy. On the technical front, the film will have cinematography by Faiz Siddik, who is also the DOP of the upcoming Antony Varghese starrer ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’. Nishadh Yusuf will be handling the edits. Jakes Bejoy has been trusted with the music department. Sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar (Sound Factory), costume designer Manjusha Radhakrishnan and art director Dhundhu Renjeev Radha are also part of the crew.

Dulquer himself is producing the film under his banner, Wayfarer Films. M Stars is also associated in the production. It is learnt that the film will be releasing worldwide on May 23 during the Eid season. An official confirmation is expected to be made after the completion of shoot.

Along with Dulquer, the cast of ‘Kurup’ also includes some other big names like Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sunny Wayne, Sobhita Dhulipala and Shine Tom Chacko. Jithin K Jose has written the story and screenplay is penned jointly by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair. On the technical front, Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ fame is wielding the camera and Sushin Shyam handles the music department.

Antony Varghese’s new film Meri Jaan announced

Today, on New Year’s day, a new film of Antony Varghese got announced. Titled as ‘Meri Jaan’, the film will be directed by debutant Abhishek KS. Anuraj OB is scripting the film which will be produced by Dr Paul Varghese under the banner of Paul’s Entertainment. Director Abhisek KS is a close friend friend of Antony, with whom he has worked since his short film days. More details regarding the film including the supporting cast, crew and when shoot begins are not yet known.

Antony currently has multiple projects in his pipeline. His next release will be ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’, a football based flick directed by debutant Nikhil Premraj. He is presently shooting for ‘Ajagajantharam’ directed by Tinu Pappachan of ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’.

Antony has a bunch of other projects lined up for this year. He has signed a film titled ‘Falimy’, which will be directed by Nithish Sahadev. Jude Anthany Joseph of ‘Om Shanthi Oshana’ fame, is producing the film. A campus based mass entertainer with debutant director Nahas Hidhayath and a fim with the makers of ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’, which will be directed by Vineeth Vasudevan, is also in the kitty.

The directorial debut of Sathyan Anthikad’s son Anoop Sathyan got wrapped up recently. The film has been titled as ‘Varane Avishyamundu’. Prithviraj shared the first look poster through his social media handle. The poster features Dulquer Salmaan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Suresh Gopi and Shobhana.

The film is currently under the post-production stage and if things turn out as per plans, it will hit screens in February. It is easily one of the most awaited Malayalam films scheduled for release next year. Anoop Sathyan himself has scripted the film, which is said to be a family entertainer. ‘Varane Avishyamundu’ is a special film for many reasons. Veterans Shobhana and Suresh Gopi are acting together after around 14 years. Independently also, the two have not been very active in the industry.
