Here’s the trailer of Dileep starrer Shubharathri

As informed earlier by the makers, the trailer of Dileep’s new film ‘Shubharathri’ has just been released online. The movie written and directed by Vyasan KP is said to be based on some real life incidents. Along with Dileep, Siddique plays the other lead in the movie.

‘Shubharathri’ has a very elaborate supporting cast. Anu Sithara is paired with Dileep in the movie. Asha Sarath, Shanthi Krishna, Sheelu Abraham, Nadirshah, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Nedumudi Venu, Sai Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Majeed, Shobha Mohan, Prashanth Alexander, Swasika, Jayan Cherthala, Ashokan, Hareesh Peradi, Manikandan, Saiju Kurup, Sudhi Koppa, Manikandan Achari, Vijay Babu, KPAC Lalitha and Thesni Khan are also part of the movie.

Along with the big cast, ‘Shubharathri’ also has a strong technical crew. Alby is the DOP and music department is handled by Bijibal. Hemand Harshan is the editor and sound design is by Renganaath Ravee. Abraham Mathew of Abaam Movies is producing the movie.

Govind Vasantha to compose for Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu

Recently, it was announced that Nivin Pauly would be starring in a movie titled ‘Padavettu’. Debutant Liju Krishna is directing the movie, which marks the maiden feature film production of actor Sunny Wayne. The makers have signed Govind Vasantha to compose music for the movie.

Govind is currently one of the most wanted music directors in the Tamil film industry. The sensational success of ’96’ has helped him bag back to back big projects in Tamil. It is after a long gap that Govind is scoring for a Malayalam movie. His last full length work in Malayalam was ‘Haram’, released four years back in 2015.

‘Padavettu’, according to the makers, is a rustic tale in which Nivin plays a naadan guy. Director Liju Krishna himself has scripted the movie. Earlier, he had directed a play titled ‘Moment Just Before Death’, which was also produced by
Sunny Wayne Productions.

Shoot for ‘Padavettu’ is expected to begin soon after Nivin wraps up ‘Thuramukham’.

Tovino Thomas’ new film ‘And The Oskar Goes To’ (ATOGT) was released last Friday (June 21) and has opened to good response from the audience. Critic reviews have all been largely positive with special mention for lead actor Tovino’s performance. The movie directed by award-winning filmmaker Salim Ahamed tells the story of a film taking its director to the Oscars.

‘ATOGT’ is instantly relatable to the all those who have a passion for cinema. It follows the life of an aspiring filmmaker and his struggle of to take his movie to the Academy Awards. Director Salim Ahamed scripted the movie partly based on his own experiences and some other real life filmmakers.

In a note written in his official social media handle, director Ranjith Sankar has mentioned that the movie reminded him of his own struggle before he made his directorial with ‘Passenger’ back in 2009. He has written,

The movie also has a good set of supporting actors like Siddique, Anu Sithara, Maala Parvathy, Lal, Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Zarina Wahab and Appani Sarath.

Rima Kallingal to produce Soubin Shahir’s next

Rima Kallingal, who recently turned a producer with the multi-starrer ‘Virus’, is all set to start her next venture. She will be producing her husband Aashiq Abu’s upcoming directorial starring Soubin Shahir in the lead. Unni R is scripting the movie, which according to latest reports deals with a fantasy subject. The makers have planned to start shooting from August.

Apparently, it is a fascinating story of a ‘gandharvan’ who lands in Earth. Soubin will be essaying the lead role of the gandharvan. For the uninformed, ‘Gandharva’ is a mythological creature in Hinduism and Buddhism. It is a name used for distinct heavenly beings.

Fantasy is a genre that has seldom been tried in Malayalam. It must be noted that legendary filmmaker Padmarajan had helmed a similar fantasy film titled ‘Njan Gandharvan’ back in 1991. The film, which was about a girl and her passion for a celestial lover, who is invisible to others, is considered as a cult classic by Malayalam movie lovers.

Despite that, when a team like Aashiq Abu, Rima Kallingal, Unni R and Soubin Shahir come together, expectations will naturally be quite high. It is said that this film will steer clear of the usual stereotypes associated with the gandharva concept and instead be a socially relevant one. Veyilmarangal wins Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award at Shanghai International Film Festival

Indrans’ new film ‘Veyilmarangal’ (Trees Under the Sun) directed by Dr Biju recently had its world premiere at the 22nd Shanghai International Film Festival. The movie was also selected for competing for the Golden Goblet Award for Best Feature Film along with 14 other films, shortlisted from 3964 submissions from 112 countries.

‘Veyilmarangal’ was the only Indian film in the main competition section. It is also the first Indian film in six years to compete in the Shanghai Film Festival. The movie has won the award for ‘Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award’. It is the first time an Indian film is winning an award at the Shanghai festival.

Director Biju took to his official social media handle to share the big news. He has written,

Trees under the sun (veyil marangal) won Best Artistic achievement award at 22nd Shanghai international film festival . This is the first time an indian film won an award at Shanghai..And I am.glad it came from a jury headed by Nurse Bilge ceylan…And this is the award for malayalam cinema after a long long time in a major international film festival by FIAPF..

In what is probably the first in Malayalam, a beautiful music video featuring the romance between two young women has been made. The song titled ‘Maayathe’ was released recently in YouTube.

The makers have beautifully explained the crux of the video by sharing a note which reads,

The poster features Jayaram along with lead actresses Sheelu Abraham and Miya George. The movie directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam looks like an out and out fun entertainer. Dinesh Pallath has scripted the movie and Abraham Mathew is producing it under the banner of Abaam Movies.

‘Pattabhiraman’ marks Jayaram’s fourth outing with Kannan Thamarakkulam. The duo has previously teamed up for ‘Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare’, ‘Aadupuliyattam’ and ‘Achayans’. The former two also were scripted by Dinesh Pallath. While ‘Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare’ was a failure, the other two films overcame heavy critical panning to have decent run at the box office.

Directed by Arun Kumar Aravind, the movie also stars Farhaan Faasil and Jean Paul Lal aka Lal Jr in major roles. All three lead actors feature in the first look poster. Samyuktha Menon of ‘Theevandi’ fame and Ketaki Narayan play the female leads. D14 Entertainments is producing the movie.

As per trustworthy reports, ‘Underworld’ is an action packed revenge thriller. The film is scripted by Shibin Francis, who had earlier penned films like ‘Comrade In America’ (CIA) and ‘Paavada’.In the movie’s technical crew, Alex J Pulickal has cranked the camera and music department is handled by the talented duo of Yakzan Gary Pereira and Neha Nair. Director Arun Kumar Aravind himself is handling the edits.
