Confirmed: Samvritha Sunil all set to make her comeback with Biju Menon’s next

Biju Menon is currently shooting for his new movie with director G Prajith of ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’. National award winner Sajeev Pazhoor, who penned the widely acclaimed ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ (TD), is scripting this movie. Rema Devi of Green TV Entertainers is producing it jointly with Sandip Senan and Aneesh M Thomas of Urvasi Pictures.

The makers have roped in Samvritha Sunil to play the female lead in the movie. Samvritha was one of the top heroines in Malayalam film industry before she got married in 2012. The actress, who has been away from films post her marriage, will be seen as Biju Menon’s wife in her comeback movie. According to her, it is a substantial role with good scope for performance and that inspired her to take up the movie. She will be shooting for around 15 days with the team.

Our sources within the industry inform that this yet-to-be titled film is a gripping family entertainer.
Biju Menon plays the role of a mason in the film. Just like Sajeev’s earlier film, ‘TD’, where real-life policemen played major roles, this upcoming movie will also have actual masons as part of its cast.

Post ‘Varathan’, Sharafudheen has become an exciting actor to watch out for. As reported by us earlier, the actor is teaming up with AK Sajan for a romantic flick. first look of Sharafudheen’s ‘Neeyum Njaanum’

‘Neeyum Njaanum’ marks Sharafudheen’s debut as a lead actor. The movie has him playing Yakub, an average Malayali youth, who falls in love with Anu Sithara’s character, Ashmi. The movie also has Siju Wilson, Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Aju Varghese in major roles. As per reports, the movie has a triangular love story at its core. Director AK Sajan is well known for helming crime thrillers; this is his first attempt in directing a light hearted entertainer.

‘Neeyum Njaanum’ has cinematography by Clinto Antony, music by Vinu Thomas and edits by AR Akhil. Siyad Koker’s Kokers Films is producing the movie in association with Lamp Movies. It is scheduled to hit screens in January, 2019.

2.0 nearing Rs 300 crore gross worldwide!

Superstar Rajinikanth-Akshay starrer 2.0 Continues to do massive business worldwide. The movie which got released in a record number of screens on November 29 has opened to phenomenal response, both in the Indian and overseas box office. Reports from trade experts suggest that the movie is nearing the magical Rs 300 crore mark. Along with the Tamil version, the Hindi version is doing extremely well in the North Indian states thanks to Akshay Kumar’s stardom.

Leading trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted,

Releasing on November 29, 2.0 had emerged as the highest opening day grosser in Indian cinema this year. The record has held by Aamir Khan’s ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ (ToH), which had a pan-India opening day earning of around Rs 52.25 crores.
2.0 is now only behind ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ in the list of highest opening day grosses of all-time. The Rajamouli directorial had earned a nett amount of Rs 121 crore on the first day.

Unlike how its usually for big star films, 2.0 was released mid-week on Thursday but it still has the advantage of an extended opening weekend. The movie is expected to shatter several other records in the coming days. Lyca Productions have invested Rs 600 crore on 2.0, which easily makes it the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema. With this phenomenal initial response, the movie is most certain to continue it’s blockbuster run in more number of screens.

The much talked about Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Indian 2’ is all set to go on floors this month. The movie directed by Shankar is the sequel to the 1996 classic hit ‘Indian’. Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement about the cast, there are several reports doing the rounds in social medias. Kajal Agarwal is said to have been signed as the female lead.

As per latest reports, the actress will soon be going abroad for a special makeup test. It is rumoured to be a very challenging role and the actress is excited to be part of such a big project. Recently, director Shankar had conducted a look test for Kamal Haasan. He was highly impressed by Kamal’s getup as the famous ‘Indian thatha’. ‘Indian 2’ will have Kamal Haasan reprising his role of Senapathi, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante.

Shankar is scripting the movie and dialogues are being penned by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairmuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Production designer Muthuraj and his team are currently busy with the set works. Ravi Varman has been signed as the cinematographer and Anirudh will be handling the music department.

Lyca Productions is funding the movie. An official announcement with details regarding the full cast and crew is expected to be made shortly.

‘Kili Poyi’, released in 2013, was the first stoner movie in Malayalam. Starring Asif Ali and Aju Varghese in the lead, the movie was directed by Vinay Govind. Though the response during its theatrical run was mixed, the movie attained wide popularity later. The makers are now planning a sequel to the movie, script works for which are currently progressing. Asif and Aju Varghese have been retained in the cast and they will be reprising their roles from the first part.

The sequel tentatively titled as ‘Veendum Kili Poyi’ will be appealing to the sensibilities of today’s audience. Director Vinay Govind is quoted saying to TOI that the socio-political scenario now is different from what it was in 2013, so they will be trying to incorporate those changes as well without diluting the concept of the original.Aby Thottapuram is producing the movie. He is also backing the upcoming Dileep starrer to be funded by G Prajith of ‘Oru Vadakkan Selfie’ fame.

Asif Ali meanwhile is busy shooting for ‘Kakshi Amminipilla’ directed by debutant Dinjith Ayyathan. He also has a handful of projects lined up in his kitty, namely – ‘Virus’, ‘Uyare’, ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ and ‘Underworld’. His next release will be Jis Joy’s ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’.

Tovino to reunite with his ‘Godha’ director Basil Joseph for a superhero flick!

Basil Joseph is one of the most promising among the young crop of Malayali filmmakers. Coming from the Vineeth Sreenivasan school, Basil delivered back to back hits in ‘Kunjiramayanam’ and ‘Godha’. Last year, he had announced a big budget film with Mammootty and Tovino in the leads, but the movie got temporarily shelved. Basil was then supposed to a film with Biju Menon, which has also been delayed.

The latest we hear is that the director is all set to team up with his ‘Godha’ star Tovino Thomas. Our sources within the industry inform that the duo is reuniting for a big budget superhero flick. Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters, well known for funding hit films like ‘Bangalore Days’, ‘Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol’ and ‘Padayottam’, is producing this movie. An official announcement will be made shortly.

Tovino already has multiple projects in his kitty. He recently finished shooting for Salim Ahamed’s ‘And The Oscar Goes To’. He is also awaiting the release of ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ and ‘Maari 2’ both scheduled to hit screens for Christmas. ‘Virus’ with Aashiq Abu, ‘Uyare’ with Manu Ashokan, ‘Luca’ with Arun Bose, ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ with Jeo Baby and ‘Kalki’ with Praveen Prabharam are his other upcoming films.

Recently, the first look of Sunny Wayne’s ‘Anugraheethan Antony’ was unveiled in social medias. The movie has a very young team behind it; most of the newcomers. Debutant Prince Joy is directing the movie and is written by Naveen T Manilal. Gouri G Kishan, who won hearts with her impressive performance in the sensational blockbuster ’96’, is making her Malayalam debut with this movie.

Gouri, a Vaikom native, who is pursuing her graduation in Christ college Bengaluru, is all excited about her debut Malayalam film. According to her, ‘Anugraheethan Antony’ is a film that has emotions, fantasy elements and much more. She will supposedly be playing Sunny Wayne’s romantic interest in the film. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Siddique are also part of the cast. Interestingly, a dog will also be playing a crucial part in the movie.

‘Anugraheethan Antony’ has its story penned by Jishnu R Nair and Aswin Prakash. In the technical front, Selvakumar is the DOP and Arjun Ben, the editor. Music department will be handled by Arun Muraleedharan. The movie will start rolling this month, and will be shot majorly at Thodupuzha and Perumbavoor.

AR Rahman has already composed two songs for Aadujeevitham!

As we already know, Prithviraj is teaming up with award winning filmmaker Blessy for ‘Aadujeevitham’. Amala Paul plays the female lead and Oscar winner AR Rahman is handling the music department. The movie went on floors in March this year. The team is currently on a break as the movie has been planned to be shot in multiple schedules in over two years.

In the meanwhile, AR Rahman has composed two songs for the movie. He himself revealed this in a recent interview. Popular playback singer Chinmayi has rendered the tracks. He will soon start working on the score for the film. Rahman, who is making his comeback to Malayalam after two decades, is quite excited about ‘Aadujeevitham’. According to him, the movie has a beautiful story with great scope for music.

‘Aadujeevitham’ is based on Benyamin’s award winning novel of the same name, which is about the life of an abused migrant worker in Saudi Arabia. The protagonist Najeeb Mohammed is stranded in the middle of deserts. The lone man undergoes different experiences from seclusion, emotional conflicts and survival struggles.

Director Blessy firmly believes that only AR Rahman can bring about the kind of music that can capture the different emotional and spiritual levels of an isolated man. According to him, music has a great role to play in the movie than the dialogues. He added that the movie will have an international score with a blend of different genres of music such as Arabic, western and Indian.

Prithviraj will be undergoing drastic physical changes for ‘Aadujeevitham’. The makers have planned to shoot the movie in various schedules through the time span of which the actor will be undergoing multiple physical transformations. The second leg of shoot is expected to commence early next year.

Director Sundar C is helming the Tamil remake of blockbuster Telugu film, ‘Attarintiki Daredi’. The movie titled as ‘Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven’ (VRV) has Simbu reprising the role played by Pawan Kalyan in the original. Official teaser of the movie was released today in social medias. From the teaser, we can make out that its a regular popcorn entertainer, the typical Sundar C style.

‘Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven’ has two female leads in Megha Akash and Catherine Teresa. Prabhu, Ramya Krishnan, Mahat Raghavendra, Nassar, Yogi Babu, Motta Rajendran and Robo Shankar are also part of the supporting cast.
The movie has music by Hiphop Tamizha and cinematography by Gopi Amarnath. Lyca Productions, one of the biggest banners in Kollywood, is funding this movie.

After a series of duds, Simbu made a strong back with Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer film, ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’. Besides, ‘VRV’, the actor also has ‘Maanadu’, a political film coming up with director Venkat Prabhu. He is also said to be a part of Shankar’s ‘Indian 2’, but an official word has not yet been made.

As we already know, Vijay’s next will be directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment. The makers have already started the pre-production works. Production designer T Muthuraj and his team have started the set works for the movie. Thalapathy 63 (working title) marks Vijay’s reunion with director Atlee after the blockbuster success of ‘Theri’ and ‘Mersal’. Unlike their earlier films, that were regular commercial potboilers, this upcoming film belongs to a genre that Vijay hasn’t attempted before.

Ever since its announcement, there were reports about the movie being a sports drama. In a recent interview with celebrity fitness trainer Kannan Narayanan, it has been confirmed that it is indeed a sports oriented flick. Vijay plays an athlete in the film. The actor will be developing his physique to achieve a sportsman’s look. Fans can expect to see Vijay in a never before seen getup in the film.

Thalapathy 63 has Nayanthara as the female lead. On the technical front, director Atlee has retained the core team from ‘Mersal’. Music department will be handled by maestro AR Rahman, his third successive film with Vijay after ‘Mersal’ and ‘Sarkar’. DOP GK Vishnu, editor Antony Ruben, lyricist Vivek and action choreographer Anal Arasu are on board.

The team is planning to have a look test before they go on floors next month.
