As the release date is closing in, the makers of Mammootty starrer Masterpiece are releasing the posters one by one and each one of them is heightening the expectations among the audience. Last day, a new poster featuring all major actors in the movie was unveiled. Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, Gokul Suresh, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Mukesh, Poonam Bajwa and Kailas feature in this poster.

Mammootty looks stylish as ever in this poster, which has gone viral in social medias. Masterpiece is a mass entertainer directed by Ajai Vasudev of Rajadhiraja fame. Udhayakrishna, who is fresh from the historic success of Pulimurugan, is scripting this campus thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of a college professor.

Mammootty fans are highly excited about the release of Masterpiece, as it promises to be a perfect paisa pasool entertainer. The movie’s much awaited teaser will be released on the 25th of this month. The posters indicate a full on mass flick and the teaser is also expected to be on similar lines.

A final patch up shoot is still remaining and will commence once Mammootty is free from his ongoing commitments. Reportedly, there are six power-packed action sequences in the movie. The team is putting in the best of their efforts to ensure that it turns out to be an absolute treat for the megastar’s fans.

Royal Cinemas, a new production company owned by CH Muhammed is producing this movie. The movie is slated for a grand Christmas release on December 21.

Dulquer Salmaan’s next Tamil movie titled as Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal

Malayalam cinema’s young star Dulquer Salmaan is slowly but steadily gaining a foothold in the Tamil film industry. He is all set to start shooting for his new Tamil movie with debutant fimmaker Desingh Periyasamy. The movie has been titled as ‘Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal’. It is a road adventure movie that will be shot in locations across the country.

Telugu actress Ritu Varma, well known for her impressive performance in last year’s superhit Pelli Choopulu, has been paired opposite Dulquer Salmaan. Shoot for this upcoming movie will kick-start tomorrow in the national capital, New Delhi.

Desingh Periyasamy, an erstwhile associate of Vijay Milton, has also scripted his debut directorial. According to him, the movie also has a few elements of a romantic thriller. Dulquer plays Sidharth aka Sid, a happy go lucky IT professional in the movie. The actor known for his penchant for trying different styles, will be sporting a new look for this movie.

This is Dulquer’s fourth Tamil movie after Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, OK Kanmani and Solo. Unlike his previous films, this upcoming one will have some stylish heroic elements. K M Bhaskar will be cranking the camera for this movie, which has been planned to be shot across Chennai, Goa and Delhi.

Megastar Mammootty’s The Great Father is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Releasing in March, the movie opened to sensational figures and soon emerged as Mammootty’s highest grossing film ever. This Haneef Adeni directorial was a raging success among the megastar fans who celebrated the movie like never before.

If reports are to be believed, Telugu superstar Venkatesh Daggubati has shown interest in remaking the movie in Telugu. Of late, the actor has been doing a lot of remakes. He remade Mohanlal’s 2013 blockbuster film Drishyam in Telugu as Drushyam. Earlier this year he also starred in Guru, the Telugu version of Madhavan’s superhit Tamil film Irudhi Suttru.

Reportedly, Venkatesh is mighty impressed with The Great Father and is in talks with a couple of directors for remaking the movie. It is a stylish revenge story with an endearing-father daughter relationship. Since the issue discussed is can be placed in any milieu, the movie will certainly to the Telugu audience.

The Great Father was a huge commercial success, so the makers of the Telugu version have a tough job ahead of them to repeat the success. Mammootty, Arya, Baby Anikha, Sneha and Malavika Mohanan played major roles in TGF.
The movie’s Telugu version is still in early stages, so more details are expected to be updated in the coming weeks.

Rana Daggubati is Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma in K Madhu’s mega budget movie!

For the last few weeks, Malayalam cinema audience have been hearing a lot about multi-crore projects. Ever since the historic success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise, several filmmakers across the country have shown interest in making films on a wider canvas. Pulimurugan’s 100 crore success has also inspired the Malayali filmmakers to invest in big budget movies.

Veteran director K Madhu recently announced that he will be making a two film project on the lives of Travancore’s legendary kings Marthanda Varma and Karthika Varma. Last day, Baahubali star Rana Daggubati took to his social media handle to officially inform that he will be playing Marthanda Varma in K Madhu’s film. The movie has been titled as Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma – The King of Travancore.

Both the movies are scripted by Robin Thirumala, who along with the director has been researching intensively for the last three years. The first part will trace the life of Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the only Indian king who trounced a foreign power in India when he won against the Dutch at the famous Battle of Colachel.

Apart from Rana, the movie will also star several prominent actors from Malayalam as well as other industries. It also includes some big names as part of the technical team. The country’s leading action choreographer, Peter Hein is on board for handling the stunts. R Madhi will be cranking the camera and MM Keeravani, best known for his work in Baahubali, will be the music director. Oscar winner Resul Pookutty is in charge of the sound design.

An international production house based in Italy will be collaborating with an Indian company for funding this project. Seven Arts Mohan is the line producer. The makers are planning the movie as a multilingual in five languages. They are planning to go on floors by August next year.

The second part of this ambitious project will be on the life of Karthika Thirunal Marthanda Varma, who went on to be known as the Dharmaraja. This part will be dealing with with Karthika Thirunal’s battle against Tipu Sultan. Cast and crew for this part has not yet been announced.

Nayanthara starrer Aramm is the latest talk of K-Town. Releasing last Friday (November 10), the movie opened to rave reviews both from the critics as well as the comers. Several print and online medias have given a rare five star rating for the movie. After a slow start in the box office, Aramm is rapidly picking up at the box office thanks to the overwhelming positive word of mouth and Nayanthara’s star power.

Directed by Gopi Nainar, Aramm discusses a very important social issue. The movie sends out strong criticisms against the system and politicians. The core plot is about a rescue operation headed by the district collector.

Celebrities from the Tamil industry like Sivakarthikeyan, director Vignesh Shivn, RJ Balaji and many others have heaped praise on Nayanthara and the Aramm team for delivering such a fantastic film.Recently, actress Amala Paul took to her social media space to appreciate Nayanthara and director Gopi Nainar for proving the significance of content driven films matter. Aramm is already rated by many as Tamil cinema’s best film this year. The movie will certainly be a milestone in Nayanthara’s career. With Aramm, she has once again stamped her authority as the lady superstar of the industry. The movie has an open ending and the producer Kottapadi J Ramesh has revealed that a sequel is definitely on the cards. Can’t wait!

Dileep resumes shooting for Kammara Sambhavam; Makers planning a summer release!

Ever since actor Dileep was released on conditional bail, talks have been doing the rounds about him resuming shoot for his shelved movies. After a month from his release, the actor has finally resumed shooting for his highly anticipated movie Kammara Sambhavam. The movie is directed by noted ad filmmaker Rathish Ambat and scripted by the multi-talented Murali Gopy.

The makers were in a spot of bother when Dileep was in the jail for nearly three months. During this time there were even rumors the actor quitting from the industry. Kammara Sambhavam is a big budget venture and shelving it would have caused huge losses for the producer. Fortunately, Dileep has joined the film and the team will be shooting continuously to release it at the earliest.

Shoot for Dileep’s portions in Kammara Sambhavam are currently progressing in Malayatoor. After this ongoing schedule, the team will be heading to Chennai, Theni and later to New Delhi. The movie also stars South Indian actor Siddharth in a prominent role.

Writer Murali Gopy, who is also playing a major role in the movie, recently shared a selfie from the location and informed that they are eyeing a summer release next year. He also added that the much awaited first look poster will be unveiled very soon.

Kammara Sambhavam is said to be an epic film. The movie happens in over three timelines and will feature both Dileep and Sidharth in multiple looks. Namitha Pramod is playing the female lead in the film. It has an ensemble supporting cast which includes National award winner Bobby Simha, Shwetha Menon, Vijayaraghavan, Indrans, Manikuttan, Siddique, Vinay Forrt, Sudheer Karamana and Santhosh Keezhattoor among others.

Gokulam Gopalan is funding this big budget movie under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies.

Mohanlal’s latest release is Villain, a crime thriller directed by B Unnikrishnan. The movie continues to do decent business inspite of all the mixed reviews. Releasing on October 27, the movie opened to largely mixed reviews from the critics and commoners. Fans and commoners who expected a mass action thriller were disappointed with Villain as the movie follows a very serious mood. Despite that the movie has managed to hold steady at the box office.

According to latest collection reports from our trade sources, Villain has grossed Rs 15.82 crores from its 17 days run in Kerala. This is a good figure considering all the initial backlash. The movie is expected to continue this decent run till the Christmas films storm screens.

Villain is a slow paced thriller which is high on emotions and maintains an intense mood throughout the narrative. After the initial mixed reviews, Villain found its right audience among the families, who seemed to have lapped up the emotional factor in the movie. Apart from Mohanlal, Villain had stellar supporting cast comprising of Manju Warrier, Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Srikanth and Raashi Khanna.

With no big films slated for release this month, Villain is expected to have a free run in the Kerala box office in the coming weeks. Rockline Venkatesh has funded the movie under his banner Rockline Films.

A lot of speculations are doing the rounds about superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0. The makers had announced the movie to be a Republic day weekend release in 2018 but it now seems like the dates will be pushed further. The movie requires extensive post-production works and a hurried work might reflect badly in the quality of the film. Though official announcement is yet to be made, it is almost certain that the release date will be postponed.

Reportedly, the pending VFX and animatronic works are currently being handled by various organisations from more than 10 countries. Legacy Effects, Tau Films, Quantum FX, Double Negative and national award-winning VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan are all involved in the post-production process.

If 2.0 is postponed, Akshay Kumar’s Hindi film Padman will release in that slot in January. He is waiting for a word from 2.0’s producers Lyca Productions to plan the release of Padman accordingly.
If 2 Point 0 is releasing on January 25, Padman will be pushed else it will release as per the schedule.

2.0 is unarguably the most anticipated Indian film of 2018. Akshay Kumar is making his South Indian debut by playing the antagonist’s role in the movie. Expectations are sky-high for this sci-fi extravaganza, which is the sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran.

Lyca Productions is investing a mammoth budget of Rs 450 crores, which is the highest for any Indian film currently under production. Following the grand audio launch in Dubai, the makers were planning to host a posh function in Hyderabad for the teaser release. Since the release date is being postponed, the teaser and trailer release will also be pushed.

Pratap Pothen opens up about his long pending project with Dulquer Salmaan

Actor/filmmaker Pratap Pothen has been on a break following health related issues. The veteran, who has won a National award for direction, was set to wear the director’s hat this year. He had announced a project with young star Dulquer Salmaan, which was to be scripted by Anjali Menon.

The movie was reportedly titled as Love in Anjengo and it was a love story set in the backdrop of a seashore. However, the project was shelved after Pratap Pothen’s fall out with his scribe Anjali Menon. Apparently, the director was not impressed by the screenplay which Anjali had penned for the movie.

In a recent interview to a popular Malayalam magazine, Pratap Pothen has confirmed that he has dropped the project completely. He cites unimpressive screenplay and outside interference as the reason for walking out of the project. He affirms that he does not wish to make a movie just for the sake of earning money.

When the project was initially announced, Global United Media was set to fund it but later Pratap Pothen himself took it up to produce it under the banner of Supriya Films. Kabali fame Sai Dhansika was said to be playing the female lead and Madhavan was also in talks for a significant role. The movie had a stellar technical team comprising of some big names. Maestro Ilayaraaja was approached for composing and ace cinematographer Rajiv Menon was roped in to crank the camera.

It is unfortunate that such a dream project had to be dropped halfway. Let’s hope they sort out the issues and come together to make this long awaited film a reality.
