Mammootty starrer Pullikkaran Staraa is gearing up to hit screens during the Onam season. The second song video from this movie has been released. It is a fun song featuring Mammootty, Asha Sarath and group of kids on a leisure trip. M Jayachandran has composed this song rendered by Vijay Yesudas BK Harinarayanan has penned this fun track.

Pullikkaran Staraa, directed by 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar looks like a fun filled entertainer. Mammootty is playing the role of an instructor in a teacher training institute in the film. His character Rajakumaran is an Idukki native who comes to Kochi after he lands a job in a government institute. Asha Sharath and Nee-na fame Deepti Sati play the female leads.

Debutant Ratheesh Ravi has scripted this movie. The movie’s story is centred around the events occurring after Rajakumaran’s arrival in Kochi. Asha Sharath is also playing the role of a teacher in this movie. Innocent, Sohan Seenulal, Dileesh Pothan and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Vinod Ilampally has cranked the camera. M Jayachandran is composing the songs and Gopi Sunder is handling the background score. B Rakesh is producing this movie under the banner of Universal Cinemas.

Neeraj Madhav to replace Sunny Wayne in Rosapoo

Rosapoo is an upcoming movie which marks the directorial debut of Vinu Joseph, a former associate of Rajeev Ravi. It is a realistic black comedy starring Biju Menon in the lead role. South Indian actress Anjali has been roped in to play the female lead.

Neeraj Madhav is the latest addition to the team and he will be seen playing a prominent role. He will be replacing Sunny Wayne, who had to opt out due to other commitments.

The talented youngster will be seen in an equally important role as Biju Menon. Rosapoo is Neeraj’s third film with Biju Menon after sharing screen space with him in Madhuranaranga and the upcoming Luva Kusha.

Anjali is making a comeback to Mollywood after a gap of six long years with Rosapoo. Her character in the movie will be a performance oriented one. She was chosen to play the role as the makers wanted someone who would look the part as well as perform well. Her character in the movie is half Tamilian and half Kannadiga.

Rosapoo is jointly written by Vinu Joseph and Santhosh Echikkanam. Interestingly, the movie will have 143 characters with prominence to each one of them. Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothan are also part of the cast. The movie is all set to go on floors this week in Kochi.

Shibu Thameens, who has produced big budget films like Vijay’s Puli and Vikram’s Irumugan is funding this movie. This is his second production venture in Malayalam after Dulquer Salmaan’s superhit movie ABCD.

The Telugu dubbed version of Kali has been titled as Hey Pillagada. Kali, directed by Sameer Thahir had Dulquer Salmaan and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. It is learnt that the success of Sai Pallavi’s debut Telugu film Fidaa has inspired for a dubbed version for Kali. Kali will be Dulquer’s second Telugu remake after the romantic entertainer 100 Days Of Love.

Kali, released in 2016 was a commercial success. The movie is a road thriller that has its core plot taking off with the events that occur during the lead couple’s journey through a remote area. It is more of a character study about the protagonist’s quick tempered nature which lands the couple in trouble. Since the story can be set in any milieu, the movie is also getting remade in Kannada.

The Kannada version titled as Kidi is gearing up to hit screens this month. The movie marks the directorial debut of S Raghu, a renowned choreographer. Bhuvan and debutant Pallavi are playing the lead roles in the movie.

After Vimaanam, Prithviraj to start shooting for Detroit Crossing aka Ranam

Prithviraj, as always is a busy man with multiple projects in his kitty. The actor recently finished shooting his portions for debutant Pradeep M Nair’s Vimaanam. He will next start working on Detroit Crossing aka Ranam, directed by another newcomer Nirmal Sahadev.

It is being planned as an ambitious English-Malayalam crossover project. The Malayalam version has been titled as Ranam. Mamta Mohandas plays the female lead in this movie touted to be dark neo-noir thriller. The movie is entirely set in Detroit, Michigan and will showcase the lives of the immigrant community.

It will be a neo-noir kind of movie with the city having a lot of importance in the plot. Since the movie is based on Tamil street gangs, it will feature noted actors like Ashwin Kumar and Sampath Raj in pivotal roles.

Prithviraj will be seen as a Tamil street gang member in the movie, which is inspired by real-life incidents. He will be portraying a grey shaded role and Mamta will be seen in an equally important role, a strong and mature character that has several shades and layers.

Detroit Crossing will have most of its crew from the US. Cinematography will be handled by Lukasz Pruchnik who previously worked in Fahadh Faasil’s Monsoon Mangoes. D16 fame Jakes Bejoy has been roped in to handle the music department. The movie is being produced by Anand Kumar Payyanur under the banner of Yes Cinema Company.

As we all know, Fahadh Faasil is making his entry to Kollywood this year by playing a prominent role in director Mohan Raja’s upcmoing movie titled as Velaikkaran. Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara play the lead roles in the movie.

Fahadh is playing a full length character in the film. His character named as Aadhi will have several shades. There are different layers to the relationship between the lead characters played by Fahahdh and Sivakarthikeyan. It begins as a friendship; there is also a guru-sishya element and it also has a clash of personalities.

Fahadh recently started dubbing for his portions in Kochi. During the initial stages of shoot, there were doubts regarding Fahadh’s fluency in Tamil but he got it right once the movie went on floors. Director Mohan Raja said that on several occassions he used to give the dialogues to Fahadh just before the shoot started. But he soon picked the language and aced it through.

Velikaaran is a commercial entertainer which will be dealing with a very relevant social issue. While the director’s last release Thani Oruvan was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran will be about food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system.

The movie also stars Sneha, Prakash Raj, RJ Balaji, Rohini and Sathish in supporting roles. Music department is handled by young sensation Anirudh Ravichander. RD Raja’s 24AM Studios has funded this movie, slated to hit screens worldwide by the end of September.

Chiranjeevi, unargubaly one of South India’s one of the biggest superstars, recently started works for his next movie. The movie titled as Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy is a multi-lingual historic drama based on the life of a popular freedom fighter. This is a big budget movie tipped to be made on whopping Rs 150 crores in Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages.

A massive news about this movie is that Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be sharing screen space with Chiranjeevi. The 75 year old superstar is reportedly playing a very prominent role in the movie.

“Amitji is officially on board. He plays a pivotal role but nothing more can be said about his character at this moment,” a source from the film’s unit told IANS.

Lady superstar Nayanthara has been roped in to play the female lead in this movie. Names like Vijay Sethupathy, Kiccha Sudeep and Madhavan are also doing the rounds about being a part of this ambitious project. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm about their casting.

Director Sunder Reddy, popular for his blockbuster films like Kick, Race Gurram, Dhruva etc is directing this movie. Chiranjeevi’s son and actor Ram Charan is bankrolling this movie.

Music maestro AR Rahman has been approached to compose for this movie. The title logo and motion poster of the film are expected to be released on August 22 on the occasion of Chiranjeevi’s birthday.

Megastar Mammootty has a long list of projects waiting in the pipeline. He is currently busy with the final leg of shoot of Ajai Vasudev’s Masterpiece. Pullikkaran Staraa, Parole, Streetlights and Peranbu are some of the other films in his kitty.

Reports are doing the rounds about Mammootty teaming up with August Cinemas once again after the blockbuster success of The Great Father. Earlier during a chat with Onlookers Media, Shaji Natesan, one of the owners of August Cinemas, had confirmed that they will be producing another film with Mammootty, this time a big budget venture.

Talks are rife that the upcoming movie will be based on the life of the historical figure Kunjali Marakkar. Noted writer/actor Shankar Ramakrishnan is scripting this period film.

He has earlier penned films liks Urumi and Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla. He has also directed a light and sound show based on Kunjali Marakkar, for the department of Kerala tourism development and archeological survey of India. Interestingly, Mammootty had lent his voice for Kunjali Marakkar in the show.

If reports are to be believed, Amal Neerad will be directing this upcoming movie based on Kunjali Marakkar’s life. The director had expressed his desire to helm this movie in the past itslef. During that time, the makers could not take it forward due to budge constraints.

Reportedly, ace cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, who is also one of the founders of August Cinemas, will be wielding the camera. Besides Mammootty, several leading stars from other industries will also be part of the cast. An official announcement of the project is expected to be made during the success celebration of The Great Father.

Few months back, we had reported about the teaming up of Mollywood’s young stars Fahadh Faasil and Sunny Wayne for a debutant’s movie. The movie titled as Aanengilum Allengilum will be directed by newcomer Vivek.

Aanengilum Allengilum will be an out and out fun entertainer revolving around the two central characters, played by Fahadh and Sunny Wayne. The actors will be seen as two close friends based in Bangalore. Both of them, like other youngsters of this generation, are caught up in their own world. At a particular moment they importance and value of family relationships dawn upon them.

Screenplay for this upcoming movie is jointly written by three newbies Vivek, Arun AR and Ajai Rahul. Both Sunny Wayne and Fahadh Faasil will have equal prominence in this movie. The technical team comprises mostly of youngsters. Anu Moothedath will be cranking the camera and PS Jayhari is handling the music department. Noufal Abdullah of The Great Father fame is in charge of the edits.

Aanengilum Allengilum is being produced by Raju Malliath under the banner of Ragam Movies. Kottayam and Bangalore have been finalized as the major locations. More details about the female leads and other cast members are not yet known.

Fahadh Faasil and Sunny Wayne have previously acted together in Rajeev Ravi’s Annayum Rasoolum. Realistic performances of both the actors garnered widespread critical appreciation. Fahadh recently wrapped up the first schedule of Anwar Rasheed’s Trance in Kanyakumari. His next Carbon, with cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Venu will go on floors this coming Monday (August 21). His debut Tamil film Velaikaaran, also starring Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara is gearing up for release this September.

Sunny Wayne’s next release will be Pokkiri Simon: Oru Kaduththa Aaraadhakan. The actor will be seen as a die-hard Vijay fan in this movie directed by Jijo Antony.

Literally, raw talents are gracing the silver screen every Friday. Currently we are witnessing the arrival of yet another bunch of youngsters coming together to make what is their dream project. Debutant Prasobh Vijayan and his young team of actors and technicians are fulfilling their long cherished dream with the backing of E4 Entertainment, a leading production house in Mollywood.

The banner’s all new initiative E4 Experiment’s aim is to promote young talents and introduce them to the world of movies. The first venture to come out under the banner is Prasobh Vijayan’s Lilli, a movie comprising mostly newcomers, both in cast as well as the technical department.

Lilli, also scripted by the director, stars Aaryan Krishna Menon, Samyukhtha Menon, Dhanesh Anand, Kannan Nayar, Sajin Cherukayil and Kevin Jose in major roles. Debutant Sreeraj Raveendran is wielding the camera. Sushin Shyam, noted for his stellar works in Ezra and The Great Father, is handling the music department. Appu Bhattathiri is in charge of the edits.

The first look poster and more details regarding the movie is expected to be announced officially in the coming days.

After Ranjhanaa & Shamitabh, Dhanush commits another Hindi film

Dhanush is perhaps the busiest actor in Kollywood currently. The multi-talented actor has multiple projects in his kitty. His latest release VIP2 is getting good response from the audience, eventhough the critic reviews have mostly been mixed. In a recent interview, Dhanush opened up about his future projects.

Apparently, Dhanush has committed for another Hindi film for next year. He is teaming up with Anand L Rai, who introduced him in Bollywood with Raanjhanaa. Dhanush’s performance as the small town lover-boy in Raanjhanaa had won him a lot of appreciation. The movie emerged as a big success entering the 100 crore club.

Details about their upcoming movie are yet to be revealed though the project has officially been confirmed. This will be Dhanush’s third film in Hindi. His second outing Shamitabh, had him sharing screen space with Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The Balki directorial was also a successful film.

In Tamil, Dhanush has Gautham Menon’s Enai Noki Paayum Thotta, Vetrimaran’s magnum opus Vada Chennai and an untitled film with Karthik Subbaraj waiting in the pipeline. He is also in talks with his brother Selvaraghavan, an official announcement regarding which will be made only next year.
