Vijay Babu responds to Girija theatre’s attempt to hold over Angamaly Diaries

We had earlier reported about Girija theatre in Thrissur trying to hold over Angamaly Diaries. They have closed the gates to the theatres during the show time leaving the audience stranded. Many who went to the watch the movie were left disappointed as the theatre authorities kept the gates closed.

The theatre owners are planning to hold over the movie for screening the Vishu releases. But in their defence, the theatre owners allege that the audience count is very minimal and the makers are distributing tickets to migrant labourers in an attempt to not ensure the movie doesn’t become a hold over. The theatre authorities informed that they closed the gates as these labourers dirt the the complex and they cannot allow it as families also visit the theatres.

Producer of Angamaly Diaries, Vijay Babu has now responded back to the theatre authorities allegations through a post in his official Facebook page. He has written that there is no need to pay money to labourers to watch a movie that has been running successfully. The theatre owners through their Facebook page has stated that they will not allow the movie to release in other theatre in Thrissur. Vijay Babu has asked them to respond back ethically and morally. Earlier, director of the movie Lijo Jose Pellissery and actor/filmmaker Roopesh Peethambaran also supported the cause and asked the theatre owners to refrain from doing such tactics.

Angamaly Diaries was released on March 3 to unanimous appreciation from the critics and audience alike. The movie marked the debut of actor Chemban Vinod Jose as a scenarist. Many celebrities including stalwarts like Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Anurag Kashyap, Karthik Subbaraj, Pa Ranjith etc rated the movie very highly.

An unique audio launch promo for Rakshadhikari Baiju Oppu

Biju Menon’s next with scenarist turned director Ranjan Pramod’s Rakshadhikari Baiju is gearing up for release. The movie is expected to hit screens next month. The team have now released an unique promo video for the audio launch of the movie.

A motion poster with a small portion of a beautiful song from the movie is used for the promo. It is an unique attempt that will probably set a new trend in Mollywood. The audio will be launched on April 1.

Director Ranjan Pramod in a chat session with us had informed that the movie will follow a different pattern from the usual style of Malayalam movies. It features more than 100 characters as part of the story with each tale connected to the protagonist Rakshadhikari Baiju.

Biju Menon is playing the title role of an irrigation department employee in the movie. He is an ordinary man, who spends his life travelling from his village to work in the city and back. It’s not a larger than life role, but one who shows his heroism in subtle ways. He doesn’t go out of his way to help people or be good, but somehow ends up doing a heroic deed. Darwinte Parinamam fame Hannah Reji Koshy will be seen as the female lead in the movie.

Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Hareesh Kanaran, Vijayaraghavan, Janardhanan, Indrans, Dileesh Pothen and Alencier Ley Lopez have played supporting characters.

Gabrielum Malakhamarum: Prithviraj and Manju Warrier to team up

Prithviraj and Manju Warrier are teaming up for the first time through director Venu’s upcoming movie titled as Gabrielum Malakhamarum. Though Manju Warrier has played a brief cameo in Prithviraj’s Paavada, this will be the first time they will be sharing screen space with each other. More details regarding Gabrielum Malakhamarum is not yet known.

Prithviraj, as always has been busy hopping from one set to another. He has completed the first schedules of Pradeep M Nair’s Vimaanam and Jinu Abraham’s Adam Joan. The actor is yet to start filming for the remaining portions of debutante Roshni Dinaker’s romantic movie My Story also starring Parvathy Menon. His upcoming Bollywood movie Naam Shabana, in which he is playing an antagonist, is all set to hit screens worldwide on March 31.

Manju Warrier is currently shooting for Aami, a biopic on writer Kamala Das’ life. She is playing the role of Kamala Das in this movie, directed by veteran filmmaker Kamal. Prithviraj is also said to be playing a brief cameo role in Aami. Manju is also simultaneously shooting for director B Unnikrishnan’s Villain, in which she will be seen as Mohanlal’s wife. Her latest release, C/O Saira Banu, also starring Amala Akkineni and Shane Nigam, is doing good business in the box office.

Director Venu, meanwhile will start shooting for another movie Carbon, starring Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas in the leads. The movie is reportedly a raw suspense thriller, set in the backdrop of forests. The technical department include some big names like KU Mohanan and Vishal Bharadwaj.

Megastar Mammootty’s highly anticipated movie, The Great Father is all set to hit screens on March 30, Friday. As we are just two days from release, the makers have released another teaser. It has the Big Daddy theme composed by Sushin Shyam.

The first teaser released by the team two months back was a sensational success. The 33 second teaser featured a stylish mass introduction scene of Mammootty. It is currently the most most watched teaser in Mollywood. The team had also released another teaser with prominence to Baby Anikha’s character.

The Great Father, written and directed by debutant Haneef Adeni, features Mammootty in the role of David Ninan. Sneha is playing his wife, Michelle David in the movie. Kollywood actor Arya will be seen in a pivotal character as Andrews Eapen. Shaam, Mia George, IM Vijayan and Kammatipadam fame Manikandan Achari are also part of the cast.

Gopi Sunder is the composer while Noufal Abdulla has handled the cuts. Roby Varghese Raj has wielded the camera for this movie. August Cinemas owned by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santhosh Sivan, Arya and Shaji Natesan have produced this movie.

We are living in a society where attacks against women and children have become a common sight. Such incidents are increasing in an alarming rate. Women are not safe while travelling alone, at work places and even when they are home. Children have been subjected to all kinds of abuse in school and at homes.

Each and every person in the society has a duty in their hands to ensure the safety of the fellow humans. Awareness about leading a compassionate and importance of gender equality equality should be initiated right from the grassroot levels.

While fans associations are mostly known to organize success meets and celebrate their matinee idol’s opening day shows, Vijay fans association in Kottarakkara have conducted a rally as a mark of showing their protest against the rising incidents of attacks against women and children. Kottarakkara municipal vice chairman A Shaju inaugurated the rally.

This is an appreciable effort taken by the youngsters to spend their resources in an useful way to spread awareness in the society. Let’s hope this inspires others also to address socially relevant issues.

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, The Great Father is set to hit screens all over Kerala on March 30. Shockingly, a video clip from the movie has been surfacing virally in all social media platforms.

The clip features an emotional scene with Mammootty and Sneha. Though it doesn’t reveal much about the storyline, it is really condemnable to leak scenes from an yet to be released movie.

Mammootty responded to the incident by saying that such harmful tendencies should not be allowed at any cost. With a tinge of humour he asked the media about which scene from the movie was leaked. Meanwhile, one of the producers of the movie Shaji Natesan has approached the cyber cell to track the source of release.

The Great Father, written and directed by debutant Haneef Adeni, features Mammootty in the role of David Ninan. The promos and teasers sky rocketed the expectations of the fans to a whole new level. Special shows for fans have been arranged all over Kerala on March 30.

While Angamaly Diaries is continuing it’s glorious run in all the release centres in Kerala, Girija theatre in Thrissur are trying to hold over the movie. They have closed the gates to the theatres during the show time leaving the audience disappointed.

It is conspicuous that the theatre owners are planning to hold over the movie for screening the Vishu releases. Actor/ filmmaker Roopesh Peethambaran has raised his voice against the theatre  by posting a photo of closed gates from the theatre premises, in his official Facebook account. Along with the photo he has also written,

“Girija theater, open the gates for Angamaly Diaries!! If you are planning for a forced hold over situation then ‘we’ the Malayalam film industry will react!!!!

Share this information to the maximum”

We had recently told you about Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan fame Vishnu Unnikrishnan suffering an accident, while shooting for Mammootty’s upcoming movie Streetlights. Vishnu was shooting in Mattancherry for a stunt sequence when he fell down and injured his right hand. X Ray reports revealed a fracture and the doctors have advised him to take complete rest for three months period.

Vishnu’s co-star from Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, Dharmajan Bolgatty has replaced him in Streetlights. The actor who started from humble background, was initially a stand up comedian in stage shows. He is now the go-to-choice for directors to play comic roles.

Dharmajan proved his skills as an actor with his praiseworthy performance as Dasappan in Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan.  Apart from the usual humour part, the character had more depth and he delivered a remarkable performance in the movie. He will be next seen in a prominent role in Happy Wedding fame Omar Lulu’s next titled as Chunkzz.

Streetlights marks the directorial debut of renowned cinematographer Shamdat noted for his works in movies like Ritu, Seniors and Oozham. He has also worked with Kamal Hassan in movies like Uttama Villain and the yet to be released Vishwaroopam 2.

Shamdat was also the DOP in Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. He apparently roped in Vishnu for Streetlights after being impressed with the youngster’s performance. However, the offer has now landed in Dharmajan’s hands. Another actor from the movie, Lijomol Jose is also part of the Mammootty starrer.

Mammootty is playing a police officer in Streetlights, which is touted to be a crime thriller. The movie doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters. Other supporting actors include Soubin Shahir, Joy Mathew, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa and Harish Kanaran. The movie is bank rolled by Mammootty’s Playhouse Pictures.

Twenty years after Iruvar; Mohanlal and Prakash Raj to team up for Odiyan

Mohanlal had recently announced his next movie Odiyan, which is touted to be the most expensive movie to be ever made in Malayalam cinema. It will be directed by popular ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon, who will also be directing the long awaited epic Randamoozham.

Odiyan, apart from Mohanlal will also feature Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj and a leading actor from Bollywood. Prakash Raj and Mohanlal will be sharing screen space in Odiyan, after a gap of twenty years.

The duo last worked together for legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Tamil political drama Iruvar. Prakash Raj won the National award for best supporting actor for his performance in Iruvar while Mohanlal missed a well deserved award by a whisker. According to the director, Prakash Raj is playing an antagonist in Odiyan. His role will be one of the most powerful villain characters that has taken shape so far in the industry.

Prakash Raj, meanwhile is making a comeback to Mollywood after a gap of seven years through Jayaram’s Achayans directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam. He was last seen in Mollywood in Prithviraj’s Anwar back in 2010.

Odiyan is written by national award winning scenarist Harikrishnan. Odiyan is named after a man who is mastered in odividya, a black magic trick to tackle the enemies. It will be a story of love, revenge and myth. Mohanlal’s home production house Aashirvad Cinemas will be funding this movie, which will start rolling on May 25.

Scriptwriter Hashir Mohammad who was arrested in 2014 for a rape attempt, has been punished for three years imprisonment by the Ernakulam additional sessions court. Along with the three years imprisonment, a fine of Rs 40,000 was imposed on Hashir.

Hashir started his career in movies by scripting Anwar Rasheed’s film, Aami, a segment in 5 Sundarikal, an anthology of five movies. He shot to fame by scripting Sameer Thahir’s Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayne in the lead roles. The movie, released in 2013 is considered to be the best road movie to have ever released in Malayalam cinema.

Hashir, in February 2014 was arrested for an attempted rape allegedly under the influence of drugs. He tried to assault a neighbouring woman in his flat in Kochi. Police investigation had confirmed that he was inebriated during the rape attempt.

During the interrogation, Hashir had said that he was only following Gods’ message to commit the seven deadly sins which also included rape.

After completing his engineering in 2006 from the College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET), Hashir worked with companies such as Accenture in Chennai, Nokia in Helsinki and Deutsche Bank in Singapore.
