Yesterday Kamal Haasan slammed the Tamil Nadu government for their failure to tackle such a situation and today as per reports he also gave rupees 5 crore to the relief fund. Urumeen Review

0

Urumeen, this Friday is graced with this Kollywood film starring Bobby Simha, Kalaiyarasan and Reshmi Menon. The film has been directed by a newcomer named Sakhtivel Perumalsamy and it was produced by G Dillibabu. In Kerala the film had a good release and here it was distributed by Sun Ads and Film Production Company by T Sundar Kumar. The film had raised good anticipation level through its star cast which has national award winning actor Bobby Simha and the trailer of the film which had got great reception. Another factor that attracted the audience is Bobby Simha’s mass hero role, which he is doing for the first time in his career.

The story of the film revolves around the revenge that is prevailing after centuries. It is told in narrating past and present incidents in which it shows how a revenge from the past life comes to the present day and how it is taken care of. We can’t delve much into the storyline because the film has the suspense element in it and also the storyline is not a fresh one. The basic plot of the film has been repeated in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages many times and telling the story here means spoiling the viewing experience of the film.

Bobby Simha done a mass hero character for the first time in his career and have to say that he did his best to make that character stand strong. Same is the case with Kalaiyarasan who had played the villain role. At Some parts we may get the feel that they may be not very comfortable with the heavy characters they have given to play. Reshmi Menon done a decent job as well as female lead but have to say honestly that there is not much her to deliver in the screenplay. Kaali Venkat and Appukutty done justice to their role as usual.

Ravindranath Guru’s DOP was the highlight of the film as he had provided an absolute visual treat through his lens. The film looks stylish and the frames were superb at most of the parts. Specially, in the second half it makes your eyes open all the time to capture each frame with its beauty. Achu’s BGM and tracks were very good as well and it gave the speed that the film needs. Sakthivel even though shown the inexperience of a debutant director, managed to hold together the narration very well even after writing a complex script with past and present incident intertwined. The editing could have been better in the stunt sequences and it could have created more impact.

On the whole Urumeen is a decent entertainer with all the elements for you get entertained. But the complexity in the script and a moderate pace in the second half may become a little disturbance for some. But still the film is a watchable revenge action thriller with technical excellence and good performance.

Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam Collection Report – 14 days

0

Jayasurya got another solo hit in his Kitty – Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam collected 5.5 cr from 14 days

Jayasurya is now going great guns as an actor and as a star. He had already got an image of the most talented actor in the younger generation of Mollywood with selection of good characters as well as wonderful portrayal of such roles on screen. But there was a complaint about him that even though he is selecting good characters to play and does it beautifully, he does not gives much importance to the commercial side of the film as many of his good films and performance went unnoticed in theaters.

But he comes back that string of failures strongly with two consecutive successes at box office and the second one Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam directed by Renjith Shankar gave him a solo hit as well. The film which had opened to great mouth publicity and critical appreciation had already collected rupees 5.5 crore from 14 days of its theatrical run here in Kerala.

The film is also financed by him and Renjith Shankar together after the success of their previous association named Punyalan Agarbathees. According to reports they are planning Punyalan Agarbathees 2 as well next year. Critics and viewers saying alike that Sudhi in Sudhi Vathmeekam was his career best performance as an actor and he might get State award for it next year. The portrayal of that character by him was such a pleasure to watch and have to admit that he made all of us stood wonderstruck with his natural as well as subtle performance of the character named Sudhi who had speech disability of stuttering.

The film which is made in a low budget already on its way earn profit from the theater run alone gave a Solo hit in this year as well. Nadirsha directorial Multi-starrer named Amar Akbar Anthony was his first hit in this year. In that film as well his performance got widely appreciated. The film had Prithvi Raj and Indrajith as well along with him. He had played some great characters named Alby in Kumbasaram and Reghuram in Lukka Chuppi this year even though the films were not commercial successes.

My God Malayalam Movie Review

0

My God, one of the Malayalam films that released today is a Suresh Gopi starrer film directed by M. Mohanan of Kadha Parayumbol and Manikkyakkallu fame. It is a Suresh Gopi starrer that comes after a fair gap in Mollywood but we can’t say it as a Suresh Gopi starrer usual entertainer. It is more of a film for children and parents which gives them an awareness about parenting as well as to respect the dreams of their children. It is also a film coming from M.Mohanan after a gap as well as his last film was Asif Ali- Anoop Menon starrer flick 916 which released few years back. There was not much anticipation for the film as well among the film lovers but created a curiosity only because it is a Suresh Gopi starrer.

The story of the film revolves around a boy named Sam Thottungal. The film begins with an incident in which Sam is arrested by the police for killing his own father. Later he was sent juvenile home and while he was there he shows signs of abnormal mental health. Then comes the character of Honey Rose, who plays the character named Dr. Arathy, who is all set to go to Newyork to join with her husband named Aadinarayana Bhattathirippadu who is one of the highest official of one of the Global IT Company. But she has to cancel the trip as she had to involve in the rehabilitation process of Sam. Later Aadhi, played by Suresh Gopi come there and he found Sam to be one of his chat friend in social media whom he loves like his own child and from then on both Arathy and Aadhi tries to bring back Sam to his normal self.

Master Adarsh plays the central character Sam and he played that introvert character of Sam with satisfaction. Both Suresh Gopi and Hone rose did good as well but have to say honestly that Suresh Gopi had nothing to do in it. It was a waste of talent as far as we are concerned. Joy Mathew as the arrogant father of Sam, Sreenivasan as a Priest Vadakkan played their part well as well.

The film discussed an age old theme of children gets ill- treated in family , their dreams given no respect and later they becomes introverts. Then comes someone to his life like God and changes all things to his favor and at last the child achieves something special to win the hearts of all. So there is nothing new in this film as well. The bad execution made it worse to say honestly. The dialogues are not at all realistic but at many places it was dramatic as well. The pace of the film was too slow and it tested the patience at many points. The music by Bijipal had failed miserably as well to evoke any emotion in the mind of the audience. Jithu Damodar’s DOP and Renjan Abraham’s editing was also raised only up to an average level as they had nothing in it to show their skills.

Geo Mathew’s screenplay was poor even though we can see an effort to tell something good and relevant in it. Mohanan as a director seems the shadow of himself and he had to realize his capability as a director as well. He can make a cinema which can enlighten the audience through entertainment if he wants that. But this time more than a cinema he just made an awareness campaign in screen for parents and it is more like a documentary than film at many parts.

As a whole My God is an attempt to make a Taare Zameen Par kind of film in Mollywood and have to say that it failed big time as we have seen many good films with the same before in many languages.

Kamal Haasan slams Tamil Nadu government for the failure to prevent the flood disaster in Chennai

0

The heavy rains are going on in Tamil Nadu and Chennai City had suffered one of the most disastrous situation it had ever witnessed in its history. Tamil Nadu’s coast area were almost become numb by the disaster as well. Super star Kamal Haasan had slammed the Tamil Nadu government for the failure to prevent such a situation and their incompetence to tackle the situation in the right manner. He asks that if this is the situation in one city named Chennai what would be the situation of the whole state of Tamil Nadu.

Kamal Haasan says that it affects poor and ordinary people the most and rich people can only feel guilt. But the government had to do the necessary as they stand for the poor and ordinary ones. Kamal Haasan says that he is not a money spinner but he felt sad as he watches the people suffering around him. Kamal says that all systems here had just failed. From communication to transportation had failed miserably. To come back to normal living condition, it will take months from here.

He asks how this happened and where all the money had gone which people gave to the government as Taxes. Kamala Hasan says that he did not have black money with him and he pays due taxes to the government as well. But what this government gives to people or what they are doing for the people who gave them this tax.

Kamal Haasan says that he is feeling sad and feeling the guilt as well as for having a house which is safe. You are sitting in your house safe while others around you going down is the hardest part of life says Kamal Haasan. He tells that rather than asking help from others Government should take the charge and help the people who are suffering. Contributions and support will come from kind people in its time. But Government now playing a hide and seek game and running away from their responsibility to serve and protect people. They should stop this and come forward.

Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal Review

0

Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal, the film directed by national award winner Dr. Biju had released today in Kerala. The film had Kunchacko Boban playing the lead role. The film had already become the talking point through the applause and recognitions it had got in different film festivals and also due to the theme it discusses. The central theme of the film is the highlight of this much talked about venture by the master director. The film revolves around the real life events that had happened in Kasargod district of Kerala with regard to the issue of Endosulphan related problems.

We can say that the film is probably the most disturbing movie you can see a viewer as it will make you cry out of emotional overflow. The central character of the film played Kunchacko Boban is a photographer who comes to a Village in Kasargod where people living like dead due to the disastrous effect of Endosulphan use there. The government cashew plantations in this area used Endosulphan as pesticide and that caused a terrible health and nature problem that had made a whole village or a whole area to suffer for ages due to the bad effect of that pesticide.

The film comes before us through the experience of a photographer played by Kunchacko Boban who visit that place and interacts with the people who is suffering after years of banning that pesticide. The after effects of Endosulphan usage is still there and the condition of people there shown through the film was just terrible and we will feel the tears flowing through our cheeks even without our knowledge. That is the emotional effect the visuals can make on us. The film’s narration follows past and present incidents and all comes to us through the eyes of the photographer. At first he visit there in 2001 and the photographs he took at that time lead the attention of the world to this. Later after the banning of the pesticide he visited the place in 2006 and he shocked to see that the people there still suffering with the after effects of that terrible use of pesticide once. In 2011, at Stockholm Summit of UN, when everybody wanted a global ban of EndoSulphan, India is the only country who supported its use.

The film shows us the efforts of rich people, the government bodies and people who can reap profit out of it to keep this poison here and it also thrown light to the condition of people there, ranging from children to old, who is suffering till death, without getting any aid and attention from the government who really caused this disaster.
The film had actors such as Kunchacko Boban, Prakash Bare, Nedumudi Venu, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Salim Kumar, James Bradford, Thampi Antony, Krishnan Balakrishnan, Sajeev Pillai, Krishnaprasad, Jayakrishnan, Dr.Muhammed Asheel, Anumol, Patricia Leduc, Pretti Johnson, Master Govardhan and lots of real life victims were filmed as well. No one had to act in this movie really because the real life condition was enough to make them feel the situation and plight of their fellow beings who suffering endlessly there.

MJ Radhakrishnan’s cinematography was realistic and Dr. Biju’s script was unbelievably close to the real life and we can’t distinguish between cinema and real life while watching this one. Santhosh Chandran’s music was also blended with the emotional depth of the film.

Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal is a must watch film before you die and it not for you alone. You are watching this for a cause as well. To support this will be one of the greatest thing you do in your life as the more support it gets will throw light to the plight of the victims there and the more light which gets to them will lead many to them with care and help.

Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly ruled the Mollywood business in 2015

0

For the last 30 years or so, Malayalam film industry was ruled by two acting legends in Indian Cinema. They are not just great actors but also the biggest stars we had ever witnesses in Mollywood as well. Yes, it is Mammootty and Mohanlal, the two undisputed kings in Malayalam fim industry. There are many came later and ruled a certain period here. But these two were still there with their mighty fan force and earth shattering box office power. There were Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Dileep etc came and made some impact but not overpowered these two icons.

Now in 2015 two youngsters had come surprisingly overpowered Mohanlal and Mammootty at least for this year. It is Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly who rules the business in Mollywood this year. We don’t know whether they can sustain it or not in the coming days. As we said above, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Dileep etc also had their years in Mollywood but they cannot be able to sustain it like Mohanlal and Mammootty.

Prithviraj had 6 releases this year and the overall business his films had done this year was above 100 crore rupees. Nivin Pauly also acted in 4 films this year and they also done a business above 90 crore rupees and in total both Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly had done a business around 200 crore in Mollywood box office this year. On the other hand Mammootty and Mohanlal had together done a business around 80 crores only through the 9 films released of theirs here.

There is an interesting fact is that both Prithviraj and Nivin Pauly had done this business from almost 4 films even though there is 9 films released which had either Prithviraj or Nivin Pauly. Prithviraj had done almost 80 crore business out his 100 crore total business through two films named Ennu Ninte Moideen and Multi-starrer Amar Akbar Anthony. Nivin Pauly had also done 80 crore of his total business around 90 crore from two films named Oru Vadakkan Selfie and Premam.

So they had disasters too along with Mohanlal and Mammootty. That is why we said that we don’t know exactly about whether this trend of youngsters will continue or not. Because Mohanlal and Mammootty needs only one great script to shatter all box office records as they still the best in acting as well as fan power in Kerala.
