Jiiva and Priyamani join the cast of Venkat Prabhu’s next with Naga Chaitanya

We had earlier reported about Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu teaming up with Telugu star Naga Chaitanya for his next. Krithi Shetty of ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is the female lead. The upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual is produced by Srinivasaa Silver Screen.

Latest update is that actors Jiiva and Priyamani have joined the cast of ‘NC 22’ (tentative title). The two are expected to play key roles in the film. Since the makers have not yet revealed details about its plot or even the genre, there’s a lot of expectations and curiosity around it. The film has music scored by the legendary Ilaiyaraaja and his son Yuvan Shankar Raja.

After the Naga Chaitanya project, Venkat Prabhu has plans to remake ‘Maanaadu’ as Telugu-Hindi bilingual. Interestingly, the films have different heroes for each language but the same villain. Details regarding the casting are not yet out.

After the National award winning success of ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’, director Senna Hegde is back with his next, ‘1744 White Alto’. Starring Sharafudheen in the lead role, the film promises a unique crime comedy. Last day, its teaser got released online. It has an unique visual grammar that reminds the aesthetics of western films. Senna has penned its screenplay along with the film’s DOP Sreeraj Raveendran. The two had also co-written ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’.

Vincy Aloyshious, Rajesh Madhavan, Navas Vallikkunnu, Arya Salim, Anand Manmadhan, Sajin Cherukayil, RJ Nilja and Renji Kankol are part of the cast of ‘1744 White Alto’. On the technical front, Senna has retained his same set of technicians from ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’. Music is by Mujeeb Majeed and edits are handled by Harilal K Rajeev.

Mrinal Mukundan, Sreejith Nair and Vinod Divakar are jointly producing the film under the banner of Kabinii Films.

We had earlier reported about Tovino Thomas and Soubin Shahir teaming up for Lal Jr aka Jean Paul Lal’s next directorial ‘Nadikar Thilakam’. Last day, on the occasion of Soubin’s birthday, the makers shared a new poster featuring him. Along with that, they also informed that production will begin in February, 2023. Tovino wished Soubin by sharing the poster. He also wrote,

And he is like a diamond, precious and rare and his light shines from within. Team #NadikarThilakam wishes dear Soubin Shahir, a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY and the best of it all. Shine on you crazy diamond, because real is rare!

Suvin S Somsekharan, who has earlier penned the screenplay for Joju George’s ‘Star’, is scripting ‘Nadikar Thilakam’. Earlier in an interview, he had said that ‘Nadikar Thilakam’ will be a realistic fun entertainer.

Mythri Movie Makers’ Y Naveen and Y Ravi Shankar are jointly producing the film with Allan Antony and Anoop Venugopal. Alby is the cinematographer, while Ratheesh Raj handles the edits. Yakzan Gary Pereira and Neha S Nair have been signed as the composers.

Teaser of Suraj Venjaramood-Ann Augustine starrer Auto Rickshawkarante Bharya out

We had earlier reported about M Mukundan’s short story ‘Auto Rickshawkarante Bharya’ being made as a film with the same title. It is helmed by veteran director Harikumar with Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ann Augustine as the leads. Last day, the makers released its teaser.

The film is adapted for the screen M Mukundan himself. The trailer gives a glimpse into the story, which revolves around a lazy auto-rickshaw driver named Sajeevan (Suraj), hailing from Meethalappura in Mahe. He is married to Radhika (Ann), a bold and mature woman, who is forced by circumstances to take up the auto-rickshaw for their living.

The project was originally planned with Parvathy and Biju Menon as the leads but it could not materialize due to various reasons. Later, there were reports shout Manju Warrier doing the female lead’s part. Eventually, the makers got Ann Augustine on board. The State award winning actress is making her comeback after a brief gap with this film. She was last seen in a full-fledged role in Lal Jose’s ‘Nee-Na’, released in 2015.

Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Double XL’. Its trailer got released recently. The film tells the story of two plus sized women and their struggles to fit into the beauty standards that exist. While Huma Qureshi plays a sports presenter in the film, Sonakshi Sinha essays the part of of an emerging stylist.

The trailer showcases the discrimination the two women face for their physique and how they overcome it. The film also stars Zaheer Iqbal and Tamil actor Mahat Raghavendra in key roles. Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan also makes a cameo appearance.

Directed by Satramm Ramani, ‘Double XL’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl and Ashwin Varde, Saqib Saleem, Huma Qureshi and Mudassar Aziz. The film, which promises a tale of friendship and dreams filled with fun, is coming to cinemas on 4th Nov 2022.

The makers of ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ makers have released the video of the much-anticipated ‘Chola Chola’ song. Composed by AR Rahman, the song has vocals by Sathya Prakash, VM Mahalingam and Nakul Abhyankar. Ilango Krishnan has penned the lyrics.

Meanwhile, ‘Ponniyin Selvan-1’ has past the Rs 400 crore mark from its worldwide collections. It still continues to hols strong at the Tamil Nadu box office. Based on Kalki’s novel of the same name, this period epic tells the story of early days of Arulmozhi Varman, who later became the Chola emperor, Raja Raja Chola I. Jayam Ravi plays the titular role. Others in the lead cast include Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. Criticis and commoners alike have taken a liking to the film, which has reflected on the huge box office numbers.

‘PS-1’ has been released in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. It is produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. The makers are planning to release the second part by mid 2023.

We had earlier reported about Antony Varghese starring in a new film titled ‘Oh Meri Laila’. Its teaser got released recently. Antony, who has mostly been doing action-oriented intense films like ‘Angamaly Diaries’, ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathiryil’ and ‘Jallikattu’, is attempting something different with this film. He is playing a college student named Lailsuran in this romantic entertainer. The film, set in the backdrop of a campus, has debutante Nandhana Rajan and ‘Veyil’ fame Sona Olickal as the female leads.

‘Oh Meri Laila’ is directed by Abhishek KS and scripted by debutant Anuraj OB. Dr Paul Varghese is backing the film under the banner of Dr Paul’s Entertainment. Senthil Krishna, Balachandran Chullikadu, Nandu, Britto Davis, Nandana Rajan, Shivagami, Sreeja Nair and many others are part of the cast. It has Bablu Aju as the cinematographer and songs composed by Ankit Menon. Gopi Sunder handles the background score.

The makers are expected to announce the release date soon.

Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince censored; All set for Deepavali release

Sivakarthikeyan-starrer ‘Prince’ got censored with a U certificate last day. The makers shared the update along with revealing the runtime — 2.23 hours. With the censoring done, the film is now all set for a grand Deepavali release on October 21. It will be competing with Karthi’s ‘Sardar’ at the Tamil Nadu box office.

‘Prince’ is directed by Telugu filmmaker Anudeep KV of ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ fame. The film, which has been planned as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, promises to be an out and out fun entertainer. The recently released trailer promises a lot of humour. Its story is about about Sivakarthikeyan’s school teacher character falling in love with his colleague, a British woman. Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka is the paired with Sivakarthikeyan in the film. Sathyaraj and Premgi are essaying other prominent roles.

‘Prince’ is produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, Suresh Productions and Shanthi Talkies. The film has music by Thaman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.

Manju Warrier’s upcoming Indo-Arab film ‘Ayisha’ is getting ready for release. Last day, the makers shared the first song video from it. Titled ‘Kannilu Kannilu’, it is a funky dance number composed by M Jayachandran. Prabhu Deva has choreographed the dance moves in the song. It is after a long gap that he is returning to Malayalam industry. Earlier during the shoot, Manju Warrier has shared a photo taken with Prabhu Deva during the rehearsals and captioned it as a ‘dream come true moment’

‘Ayisha’, directed by debutant Aamir Pallikkal, is set entirely in the Gulf. It will be showcasing a mix of Indo-Arabic cultures and will be released in Malayalam, English, Arabic, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages.

‘Ayisha’ has its story written by Ashif Kakkodi, who had earlier scripted ‘Halal Love Story’. It has editing by Appu N Bhattathiri and cinematography by Vishnu Sharma.

Manju Warrier meanwhile was recently in Bangkok for the shooting of her upcoming Tamil film with Ajith. Titled ‘Thunivu’, the film directed by H Vinoth is touted to be a heist thriller. In Malayalam, the actress has ‘Vellarikka Pattanam’ coming up next.

‘Adi’ is directed by Prasobh Vijayan, who had earlier helmed ‘Lilli’ and the Jayasurya starrer ‘Anveshanam’. It is scripted by Ratheesh Ravi of ‘Ishq’ fame. Unlike Prasobh’s previous two films, which were thrillers, ‘Adi’ is said to be an entertainer with comedy and fun elements. It is planned as a Sathyan Anthikad-like film that appeals to all sections of the audience, including families. Ahaana and Shine Tom Chacko will be seen as newlyweds in the film. The story is centered around the incidents that happen in their lives.

‘Adi’ has Govind Vasantha as the music director and Faiz Siddik as the cinematographer. Naufal Abdullah is the editor.
