Action Jackson Review

0

How many of you remember the movie R Rajkumar. Well, sorry for the reminder but it is with reason. The 2013 movie starring Shahid Kapoor came out with high expectations. This highly anticipated action masala flick directed by the actor turned director Prabhu Deva turned out to be quitedisastrous but somehow making a safe exit at the box office but let’s keep all the history aside and get back to why we are actually here.

Action Jackson, yes the quite intentionally masala flick sounding title that has released recently, Prabhu Deva’s latest project and starring none other than Ajay Devgan and Sonakshi Sinha as his love interest. The trailer came out with a bang instantly creating a lot of buzz among the people, especially after Ajay Devgan’s Singham Returns. Another action masala which did pretty well both among the fans as well as the box office. So there was much hype about how this movie would turn out to be.

Mostly Ajay Devgan is not exactly as they portray in the trailer but I guess if that sort of thing ticks you its ok we aren’t revealing much about it. The story has a lot of things going on. For instance Sonakshi’s character is a very unlucky woman who by chance stumbles upon Ajay Devgan trying on an underwear in a changing room and unintentionally gets a haunting glimpse at the ahem ahem. But the fun starts from here when she realizes that getting a glimpse of his you know what actually changed her luck upside down. So all she has to do is get glimpses of it in intervals to maintain her good fortune. Nope, we aren’t making this up. Then there is this villain played by Anand Raj who is very much dominated by his sister played by Manasvi Mamgai who later becomes obsessed with Ajay Devgan. Well the story is how all this goes along and a little more which we will leave with you to experience.

In short the movie is quite silly with unimpressive performances and a lot of action movie cliches. Did we mention that Ajay Devgan’s dance ends up with horrible results? Well if not, that too. If you are in to pass time, then it might just work out for you. If not we suggest you run the other way.

SunnyWwayne made his debut into films through that movie along with Dulquer Salmaan. The film has got great attention as it was the debut film of Dulquer Salman, the son of Mega star Mammootty. It was a commercial success and Sunny Wayne’s character named ‘Kurudi’ had become very Popular. His one liners and mannerisms were become a huge hit among youngsters and there started the career of Sunny wayne. Later he acted in films like Thattathin Marayathu, Nee ko nja cha, Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal, Neelakasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Koothara etc. His character in Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal and the slang he used was very well appreciated and he also got appreciation for his role in Dulquer Salman starrer Neelakasham pacha kadal chuvanna Bhoomi.

He is now busy with ‘Double Barrel’ along with Prithviraj, Arya, Indrajith, Asif Ali etc which was a much awaited film from the date of its announcement. It is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery after his super successful ‘Amen’. Even though Sunny Wayne had high hopes on ‘Koothara’ which was the second film of Sreenath Rajendran in which he shared screen with Bharath, Tovino Thomas and none other than the Complete actor Mohanlal, who played a cameo in that film, the film has bombed at the box office. Sunny Wayne is always looking for fresh characters and he is very selective also.

Seconds Review

0

Aneesh Upasana’s  Seconds is a really disappointing experience which has nothing to offer to the audience.  It was Aneesh’s second film after his debut film ‘Matinee’ bombed at box office even though got good appreciation from some corners after the Dvd release of the film. Seconds has got an impressive star cast including Jayasurya, Vinay Fort, Aparna, Vinayakan etc. The film begins  with an accidental death  and  murders inside the lift of a building.

The central characters are Veeramani Swamy (played by Jayasurya),  who is an insurance  agent, Teena (Played by Aparna) a jewellery sales girl, Firoz (Played by Vinay Fort) who is a  camera man and Thampi (Played by Vinayakan) who is a cruel criminal and drug  addict. Though they don’t know each other ,destiny made them to meet each other in certain situations. Veeramani Swamy is leading a struggling life and he had to look after his family with his rather low income. Firoze is photographer who wishes to own a studio in his name .

Teena  is sales girl whose low income put her in rather difficult circumstances and she is struggling to pay the debts. She is looking for another job with a healthy income which can solve her problems. Thampi is a criminal who has two wives and he is always in a mood to make quarrels with anybody. The other character apart from these four is Sathyadevan (played by Shankar Ramakrishnan),a filmmaker who is on the way to start to a political career. A  particular day of Sathyadevan’s  life mixes up  with that of Firoze in which an incident that happens between them. That incident in fact turns out to be a life turning day for all of the characters.

Below average screen play is the film’s biggest curse as the suspense and the climax twist they intended was in fact become an absolute failure. Technical part  also did nothing special including the average standard of Gopi Sundar’s music. Performances of the lead actors does not have anything to boast of and we must say that Jayasuya is wasting his good time and talent on such craps.  Salim Kumar, and Anusree etc. are also a part of the cast. The film got some attention due to its pre- release issue and when it actually hit the screens it had become a big time disappointment for all.

But as an actress with great potential Kalpana got meaty roles only a few times in her career and nobody really remembers that she is a national award winner too. But the team behind Dolphins had a great role in store for Kalpana. She said that, Diphan, director of the film Dolphin called her and said that she have to do a role in his coming film named dolphin and he said to her that the script writer of the film Anoop Menon will call her and will tell her about the role.

Director Shibu Gangadharan had said in his social media page that the rumours that his upcoming film with Suresh Gopi, scripted by Sunil Parameshwaran, which was titled as ‘Rudra Simhaasanam’ was the sequel of ‘Ananthabhadram’ was completely false. Ananthabhadram was a 2005 film directed by Master cinematographer Santhosh Sivan and scripted by Sunil Parameshwaran. Prithviraj, Kavya Madhavan, Manoj K Jayan and Kalabhavan Mani played the lead characters in that movie.

When Sunil Parameshwaran and Shibu Gangadharan had announced the project Rudra Simhasanam, online medias spread the news that it is going to be the second part of Ananthabhadram as Sunil Parameshwaran is doing the script of the film. At the time of Ananthabhadram there was a buzz that there will be a sequel to that movie in the coming years. When this project had announced with Sunil Parameshwaran doing the script, a false impression had fell in the social medias and online medias that it will be the so talked about Sequel of Ananthabhadram. Any way the director himself had come out and cleared the air that Rudra Simhasanam had nothing to to do with Ananthabhadram and it will be a fresh film.

After 15 Years Narasimham Returns

0

After the huge critical and commercial success of Aaram Thamburan. A movie that brought in a new phase into the Malayalam action genre and introduced a character so epic that it created a cult status among its viewers. The trio that made it possible decided that one epic film wasn’t enough and that they had to once again join force to make another one. The trio mentioned before is none other than that of director Shaji Kailas, writer Ranjith and one of the greatest actors in Malayalam Cinema, Mohanlal himself. The movie, well you must have already guessed by now. Yes, exactly ‘Narasimham’

Narasimham released in the year 2000, produced by Antony Prumbavur under the banner of Ashirwad Cinemas, the movie had become an instant cult classic. Everything about that movie caught on so well that it went on to create box office history. Poovalli Induchoodan, the central character played by Mohanlal returns from prison after 6 long years after being wrongfully sentenced for the murder of his classmate. The movie follows the character into the chain of events that takes place thereafter.

The character Induchoodan influenced a new style into the audience, from the mundu worn by Lalettan to the catch phrase; you know exactly what I’m talking about here. Everything simply stuck with us and everytime the movie was shown on T.V. we would just wait for that electrifying entrance by Induchoodan and who could forget the special guest appearance by Mammootty as Adv. Nandagopal Marar. There were even rumors of a spin-off for Mammookka’s character. Fingers crossed for that.

Well after 15 years, after creating 22 crores at the box office from a 2 crore budget and after running successfully for 200 days, after creating such history, there is still great news for everyone including the people behind the movie. Ok, I think we have stalled enough. Let’s get into the juicy part of the details. Narasimham is all set to be re-released in respect to the 15 years that passes since its release. The programme is organized under the title ‘Narasimham returns’ and is to be screened in Gold Cinemas, Dubai on December 5th. The movie is said to be presented by the real cast. I mean how great is that?
