Varsham Preview

The much anticipated Mammootty Film ‘Varsham’ directed by Ranjith Shankar is all set for a big worldwide release on November 6.The film will hit the screens in India, UAE, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Japan and Singapore in 400+ theatres. The production and distribution side decided to release Varsham on November 6th on all parts of the world mainly because of the fans of Mammootty ,especially from Middle East requested him to reconsider the delayed release of his movies outside India. Mammootty himself came forward to fulfill their request as the movie is produced under the banner of Play House films which is owned by none other than the Megastar Mammootty himself.

Varsham film has a fantastic star cast with Mammootty and Drishyam fame Asha sarath in lead roles. The films tells about the life of the character Venu, played by Mammootty, who returns to Kerala after a fairly long period from Gulf Countries. Venu decides to start a finance company and the problems he faced after his attempt forms the central part of the story. Asha Sarath playing the character of Venu’s wife had also a very important role to play in the story. One of the main highlight of the film is Actor T G Ravi who is playing a very key role, that too a character of negative shade after a long time.

The movie had already got public attention with its unique promotional methods such as its live audio launch, Song release through social media sites such as Facebook and Whatsapp and most importantly the decision of Mammootty to promote the film without using Fluxes. The songs of the film had already attained Hit status and the promotional methods as well as the trailer had raised great amount of curiosity among the public. Director Ranjith Shankar who is Fresh from the success of ‘Punayalan Agarbathis’ , his last outing with Jayasurya all set to reap Gold in Box office once again, this time with the Megastar of Mollywood who is on the way of a comeback after a not so good last few years.

The film produced by Megastar Mammootty under the banner of Play House. The cinematography of the film was done by Manoj Pillai, with the editing done by Sagar Das. The music of the film was composed by Bijibal. The film is scheduled to release on 6th November 2014.

Ennu Ninte Moideen is a forthcoming movie of Prithviraj which is directed by V.S. Vimal.  Parvathy Menon will play the female central character in the movie. The story takes place in 1960’s with Calicut as the framework and illustrates the beautiful love story of Moideen which is played by Prithviraj and Kanchanamala which is played by Parvathy.

The film gives a vivid description as to how the fact that they belong to different religions stands as the biggest impediment to their marriage. Prithviraj was a part of another period movie which was titled Celluloid in which he depicted the life of the father of the Malayalam Cinema, J.C. Daniel. He was praised for presenting the character with the utmost conviction. R.S. Vimal put in writing the script for the movie.  The other casts include Lal, Sreejith Ravi, Bala, Lena, Tovino Thomas, Thalaivasal Vijay and a few others. One of the in demand music director M. Jayachandran and Ramesh Narayan team up to compile the music of the movie. Jomon.T. John will handle the cinematography work of the movie. The film will go through the editing at the hands of Mahesh Narayanan.

Prithviraj had two releases in recently namely, Sapthamashree Thaskaraha and Tamma Padaar. While Sapthamashree Thaskaraha did good business at box office Tamaar Padaar disappointed with poor performance at the box office. Therefore, Prithviraj will have to make up for Tammar Padaar through this movie. Parvathy Menon first appeared in the movie ‘Out of Syllabus’ where she portrayed one of the main characters. She also was important factor of the trendsetting movie Bangalore Days. The movie has reputedly drawn its inspiration from the actual love story.

The movie makers also revealed that Kanchanamala is still among the living. The plot of the movie is set on the narration of Kanchanamala. However, the movie is not free from controversies much like any other movies that have its basis on real life incidents.   Kanchanamala has accused the movie of misrepresenting some facts.  She claims that this may result in the wrong assumptions by the audience about their relationship. However, the filmmakers are now focusing on the production works of the movie.  The movie will be financed by  Binoy Shankarath and Suresh Raj.The movie is set to release in September 2015.

Mollywood has begun the game of Crores

At last Malayalam film industry going to put its foot on the big money league with some big budget films all set to go on floors and some other films already on its way to the screens. When the big Bollywood and Kollywood films gets astonishing number of theaters in Kerala, the low budget Malayalam films gets ignored or they may not get many theaters to screen. So our superstars had decided to make big films to try their luck in the big league with some exciting projects. Earlier a Malayalam film was completed around  one or two crore rupees. But now a days that amount is used just to make the set of a film.

Debutant Suresh Divakar’s film ‘Ivan Maryada Raman’ starring Dileep in the lead is shooting at palani and the film crew has made a set of a house worth around 1.25 crore and also they managed a train for rent for 10 days. The movies is produced under the banner of Aan Mega Media by Anto Joseph.

Deepu karunakaran’s new film ‘Fireman’ starring Mammootty also had a set worth of 1 crore and it is produced by Milan Jaleel under the banner of galaxy films. Kunchacko boban, Indrajith starrer ‘Cousins’ directed by Vysakh and produced by Vysakh rajan had used 50 lakhs just to shoot  a song. Film’s total budget is above 10 crores. After the grand success of ‘Run Baby Run’, Joshiey-Mohanlal-Amala paul team joins once again for ‘Laila o Laila’. It is also a big budget film with rich elements. The film is scripted by Bollywood fame Suresh Nair and produced by Fine cut entertainment in crowd funding format.

Prithviraj, Indrajith, Asif ali, Sunny wayne, and Arya teaming together for Lijo jose pellyssery’s new film ‘Double barrel’ and the film is said to be one of the most expensive films in Mollywood history.  Shyamprasad roped in Prithviraj, Bhavana and Nivin Pauly for his new film ‘Ivide’ which is going to shoot in America is also a big money film.

It would be an understatement if you say that youngsters are addicted to social media such as Facebook, whatsapp etc. It has become an inevitable part of their lives just like food and water. But, a good portion of the youngsters are ignorant of the big threats that are concealed in these social networking sites. Youngsters make friends with the strangers on Facebook and they even go to the extent of revealing their secrets to them. But they are unaware of the fact that the person whom they consider their friend might be their biggest enemy. There are certain groups of perverts who are in constant search for such teenagers so as to make them their victims. They make use of innocent girls and women for their devilish motives and woman and girls find themselves trapped from where there is no escape.

Bodhini is organized by Cochin Metropolis Rotary club which aims at creating general awareness among young girls so that they can be alerted about the dangers that are awaiting them on social Medias. They have recently produced a short film under the direction of Shyama Prasad which deals with this issue. The short film has its base on the character of Shikha who is a school girl. She feels neglected by her parents who are too busy to spend some time with her. Therefore she finds solace in mobile chatting and Facebook. She befriends someone on Facebook and soon becomes close to him. But this friendship later turns out to be a nightmare for Shikha and she faces severe consequences for building up a close relationship with the stranger.

The film was uploaded on YouTube on October 18 which went viral on social medias.The video was watched by near two  lakh people which is an obvious sign of its popularity .It has become a subject for discussion among the youngsters as well as the parents. It sends a message to youngsters to stay away from strangers.  It also reminds the parents about the relevance of spending quality time with your children and to treat them like your friends so that they will feel comfortable enough to share everything with you.

Bodhini has also released a helpline number 8891-32-0005 which can be used by anyone who has fallen prey to this social hazard.

Mohanlal‘s Kannada movie Mythri will release on November 26

Kannada movie Mythri with Mohanlal and Puneeth Rajkumar in the key role is all set to hit the theaters on 26th of November. Mohanlal will represent a scientist by the name Mahadev Godke in the movie. The movie is directed by Giriraj who amazed everyone with his movie Jatta.

Mythri deals with the contemporary social problems related to children and many other issues which are spreading like a cancer in our society. Mohanlal has rendered his voice to the character though he faced several difficulties since he was dealing with a foreign language. Giriraj discussed about the efforts the actor had put in to learn the Kannada language. The director revealed that Mohanlal spent hours in fixing the dialogues in his mind and it was his decision to dub for his character.

Mohanlal shares the spotlight with Puneeth Rajkumar who is the son of the superstar Raj Kumar. He has produced impressive number of hits in his acting career and the success of his Power Star holds the proof to substantiate this claim. Archana plays the leading female character in the movie. Ravi Kale and Atul Kulkarni portray the other crucial roles in the movie. The director Giriraj has put the script in black and white for the movie. Ilayaraja harmonized the music whereas Krishnakumar dictated the cinematography department. N.S. Rajkumar is involved in the movie as the financier.

Mohanlal is not new to Kannada audience. He has already worked in a Kannada movie Love under the direction of S.V.Rajendra Singh Babu. He received heartening responses from the Kannada audience for the performance in the movie. It was later dubbed to Malayalam which was renamed as Hey Taxi.

The rumors have it that Radhika Apte was initially approached to play the female lead but she had date issues and at the end, Archana was finalized for the role.  Bhavana has done a cameo in the movie.  With the release fast approaching crew of the movie are in the final works of the movie. Mohanlal is also busy with his Sathyan Anthikkad movie alongside Manju Warrier and Joshy’s Lailaa O Lailaa with Amala Paul.
