Sivakarthikeyan meets Rajinikanth after Don success

As his latest release ‘Don’ continues to do excellent business at the box office, Sivakarthikeyan met Rajinikanth at his residence and sought his blessings. The actor took to his social media handle to share a photo taken with the superstar. He also wrote,

With the DON of Indian cinema. Met super star Rajinikanth sir and got his blessings.. That 60 minutes will be a lifetime memory..Thank you so much Thalaiva for your time and valuable appreciations for #DON

Similarly, the ‘Vikram’ duo of Kamal Haasan and Lokesh Kanagaraj also met Rajinikanth at his residence last day.

Meanwhile, ‘Don’ has successfully gone past the 100 crore mark. It is Sivakarthikeyan’s second successive film after ‘Doctor’ to enter the elite 100 crore club. ‘Don’ got released in theatres on May 13 and opened to excellent response, particularly among the youth audience. Directed by debutant Cibi Chakaravarthi, the film is a fun entertainer set in the backdrop of a campus.

Unni Mukundan and Jayraj reunite for Kadhikan

Unni Mukundan has started shooting for his new film with the multiple National award-winning director Jayaraj. The film titled ‘Kadhikan’ has Shaji Kumar as the cinematographer. Unni took to his social media handle to share his excitement in working with Jayaraj for the third time. He has written,

Started shooting for my third film with my fav Jayaraj ettan. And this time it’s Double the happiness to be shot by one of fav cameraman #Shajikumar ettan. #Kadhikan

Though Unni and Jayaraj have collaborated for two other films, details regarding these projects are not yet known. Unni, who was last seen in a lead role in ‘Meppadiyan’, has a couple of other projects lined up. He is playing a prominent role in the Samantha-starrer ‘Yasodha’, which is planned for a multilingual release. Unni has also completed the shoot of ‘Luca’ director Arun Bose’s second film and ‘Shefikkinte Santosham’, directed by Anup Pandalam. The actor is also reuniting with ‘Meppadiyan’ fame Vishnu Mohan for a political thriller titled ‘Pappa’.

As ‘Vikram’ gears up for release on June 3, Kamal Haasan along with director Lokesh Kanagaraj met superstar Rajinikanth at his residence. The young filmmaker shared photos taken during the meet and tweeted,

‘Vikram’ is set for release amidst massive hype. Along with Kamal, it has Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi in prominent roles. Suriya is also playing a cameo role. Said to be an action-packed entertainer, the film’s cast also includes Narain, Kalidas Jayaram, Chemban Vinod Jose, and Shivani Narayanan among others.

Kamal Haasan’s own production house Raaj Kamal Films International is backing Vikram, which is set to be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages.

Vineeth Sreenivasan-Biju Menon starrer Thankam begins

We had earlier reported about a project titled ‘Thankam’, to be directed by Saheed Arafath of ‘Theeram’ fame. The film was originally announced with Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Joju George as the lead cast. However, the delay caused due to the pandemic has resulted in a few changes in the cast. The lead roles will be played by Biju Menon and Vineeth Sreenivasan. The film scripted by Syam Pushkaran went on floors last day.

As confirmed by the makers, ‘Thankam’ is a crime drama. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Vineeth Sreenivasan is playing a thief’s role in the film. Syam Pushkaran, Dileesh Pothan and Fahadh Faasil are also involved in the production of ‘Thankam’. They are jointly producing it under their banners of Working Class Hero and Fahadh Faasil and Friends. The trio last produced the widely acclaimed ‘Kumbalangi Nights’.

‘Thankam’ haa Gautham Sankar as the cinematographer and Gokul Das as the art director. More details regarding the technical crew are awaited.

Keerthy Suresh and Tovino Thomas engage in a legal battle in Vaashi teaser

Last day, the teaser of Tovino Thomas-Keerthy Suresh starrer ‘Vaashi’ got released. From the teaser, we gather that both the actors play lawyers in the film. The two are seen locking horns in a legal battle in the teaser. It is said that the film deals with the topic of ‘consent’.

‘Vaashi’ is directed by debutant Vishnu G Raghav. He has also penned the screenplay based on Janiz Chacko Simon’s story. The film is touted to be a gripping legal/courtroom drama. The cast also includes Anu Mohan, Sreelakshmi, Divya George, ‘Thinakalazhcha Nishchayam’ fame Anagha, Nandu, Baiju Santhosh, Rony, Kottayam Ramesh, and Maya Viswanath.

‘Vaashi’ has Neil Dcunha as the DOP. Kailas Menon is composing the songs and the duo of Neha Nair and Yakzan Gary Pereira handle the background score. Arjun Benn is editing the film. Filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan is serving as the creative supervisor.

Keerthy Suresh’s father Suresh Kumar is producing the film. Her mother Menaka Suresh and sister Revathy Suresh are the co-producers. Urvashi Theatres and Ramya Movies will be releasing the film.

Arun Vijay and Vijay Antony lock horns in Agni Siragugal; Here’s the teaser

The teaser of Arun Vijay-Vijay Antony starrer ‘Agni Siragugal’ has been released. The film is directed by Naveen of ‘Moodar Koodam’ fame. The teaser looks highly promising with top quality visuals and gripping action sequences. The film also stars Akshara Haasan, RaimaSen, Prakash Raj, Nasser and Sendrayan.

‘Agni Siragugal’, touted to be an action-thriller, is produced by Amma creations T Siva. The film has KM Batcha as the cinematographer and Vetre Krishnan as the editor. Natarajan Sankaran is handling the music department. The high-octane stunts shown in the film are choreographed by Mahesh Mathew.

‘Agni Siragugal’, which got launched in 2018, was shot in several cities around the world. The film was supposed to release in 2021, but it got delayed due to some reasons. With the teaser being finally shared, the makers are expected to announce their release plans soon.

Actors Sreenath Bhasi and Arjun Ashokan are teaming up for a new film titled ‘Antappan Weds Ancy’. Megastar Mammootty announced the film through his social media handle. The film is directed by Sanoop Thykoodam and produced by Ajai Vasudev, G Marthandan and M Sreeraj AKD.

Sharing the title poster in his Facebook page, Mammootty wrote,

Unveiling the title poster of Antappan weds Ancy ! Best Wishes to Ajai Vasudev , G.Marthandan , Sanoop Thykoodam , Sreenath Bhasi , Arjun Ashokan & The Entire Team.

Director Sanoop Thykoodam made his debut with the fun entertainer ‘Sumesh & Ramesh’, which also had Sreenath Bhasi as one of the leads. Arjun Ashokan had essayed a cameo role in the film. Joseph Vijeesh, who co-wrote Sanoop’s directorial debut is part of this film as well. Similarly, the composer duo of Neha Nair and Yakzan Gary Pereira have also been retained for this film.

From the title, ‘Antappan Weds Ancy’ looks like a fun, youthful entertainer. It has been confirmed that the film set in Chellanam is based on true incidents. The makers are expected to reveal more details in the coming days.

The Legend trailer released; Trolls galore in social media

‘The Legend’ starring Legend Saravanan is gearing up for release. The film’s trailer was launched in a grand event in Chennai last day. The trailer introduces Saravanan as a scientist who is determined to do make the lives of his people better. He faces stiff opposition from many. The setting is similar to the Rajinikanth-Shankar film ‘Sivaji’. If the plot’s similarity is not enough, the makers of ‘Legend’ have roped in Suman as the villain and the late Vivek as the hero’s sidekick. Both the actors had played the same roles in ‘Sivaji’.

Directed by JD-Jerry, ‘Legend’ is aimed as a complete commercial mass entertainer. However, the trailer has received a lot of flak for the hero’s performance. Saravanan looks odd and out of the place in most scenes, though the trailer looks rich and pleasing. Besides playing the lead, he has also produced the film.

‘Legend’ has a big star cast and a strong technical team. Urvashi Rautela, Geethika, Nasser, Prabhu, Rahul Dev, Vamsi Krishna, Vijay Kumar, Yogi Babu and many others are part of the cast. Music is by Harris Jayaraj and Velraj has cranked the camera. While Ruben edits the film, Anl Arasu has choreographed the stunts.

It seems like after all the delays, Shane Nigam’s ‘Ullasam’ is gearing up for release. Last day, the makers shared its teaser online. It is fun, colourul and stays true to its title.

‘Ullasam’ is directed by debutant Jeevan Jojo, who was a former associate of Ranjith Sankar, Deepu Karunakaran and Jeethu Joseph. Praveen Balakrishnan has scripted the film. Pavithra Lekshmi, a newcomer, is paired with Shane Nigam. The supporting cast includes Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Basil Joseph, Ambika, Appukutty, Indrans, Nayana and Parvathy.

On the technical front, Swaroop Philip has cranked the camera and songs are composed by Shaan Rahman. While Gopi Sundar takes care of the background score, Johnkutty handles the edits. Jo Kaithamattam and Christy Kaithamattam are producing ‘Ullasam’ under the banner of Kaithamattam Brothers.

Couple of years back, Jude Anthany Joseph had announced a film titled ‘2430 ft’, based on the devastating Kerala floods of 2018. However, the project was shelved after the onset of pandemic. It is not yet sure if this is the same project that has now been revived.

An official announcement is awaited.
