Shah Rukh Khan’s next with Atlee titled Jawan

It is already known that Shah Rukh Khan is teaming up with Tamil filmmaker Atlee. Shoot for the film kick-started last year and works are underway. Latest news is that the film has been titled Jawan. Speculations began after a supposed censor certificate of the film’s teaser went viral online.

Atlee is planning to make a big-scale mass entertainer. Reportedly, the film also stars Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Priya Mani, Yogi Babu and Sunil Grover. Atlee’s regular collaborator GK Vishnu is cranking the camera for this film as well. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is backing the project.

Shah Rukh meanwhile has two other projects lined up. He is teaming up with ‘War’ fame Siddharth Anand for a spy-thriller titled ‘Pathaan’. The film scheduled to hit screens on January 25, 2023, also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone.

Shah Rukh is also joining hands with Rajkumar Hirani for a film titled ‘Dunki’. Vicky Kaushal is also said to be a part of the film.

We had earlier reported about Omar Lulu teaming up with Babu Antony for a film titled ‘Powerstar’. The film marks the veteran actor’s comeback to a full-fledged action role. Last day, the first look poster featuring him in long haired look got are released. Abu Salim and Niyaz are also seen in the poster.

‘Power Star’ is scripted by the late Dennis Joseph. It is planned as a complete action-packed entertainer with the story centred around drug deals. Riyaz Khan, Baburaj and many others are part of the cast. Earlier, director Omar had announced that Hollywood actor Louis Mandylor, retired American kickboxer Robert Parham and Kannada star Shreyas Manju will also be starring in the film.

‘Powerstar’ has Sinu Sidharath as the cinematographer. The film marks Omar Lulu’s debut as a music director. He is composing the songs and background score for the film. It is produced by Royal Cinemad in association with Joy Mukherji Productions.

Karan Johar to launch Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan with Hridayam remake?

We had earlier reported about Bollywood filmmaker-producer Karan Johar bagging the remake rights of the blockbuster Malayalam film, ‘Hridayam’. Karan’s Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios together had acquired the rights for Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages.

Latest reports suggest that Karan Johar is planning to launch Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan with the remake of ‘Hridayam’. Ibrahim’s sister Sara is a popular actor now. She was also supposed to be launched by Karan but it got delayed. She eventually made her debut with ‘Kedarnath’. Their mother Amrita Singh is also an actor.

‘Hridayam’ directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan is a coming-of-age story that had Pranav Mohanlal as the protagonist. Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran played the female leads in the film that turned out to be a big hit at the box office. It recently won the Kerala State Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value.

It will be interesting to see how the film gets remade in Hindi. An official update is awaited.

Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko and Arjun Ashokan to star in Priyadarshan’s next

Veteran director Priyadarshan is set to team up with youngsters for his next. As per reports, his upcoming film will have Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko and Arjun Ashokan as the leads. Priyadarshan is also producing the film, which will go on floors in August.

Touted to be a thriller, this upcoming film is scripted by Priyadarshan himself. Siddique and Maniyanpilla Raju, two regulars in the director’s films, is part of this one as well. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Priyadarshan’s last release in Malayalam was ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. The film, which got released amidst tremendous hype, failed to live up to the expectations. The Mohanlal starrer was subjected to severe trolling and criticisms in social media.

Priyadarshan had planned a boxing-based film with Mohanlal after ‘Marakkar’. But it seems like the director has put it on hold. He also has a Tamil film titker ‘Appatha’ coming up. Urvashi is playing the lead in it.

Release date of Sivakarthikeyan’s next out

We had earlier reported about Sivakarthikeyan teaming up with Telugu filmmaker Anudeep KV of ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ fame for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens on August 31.

Tentatively titled ‘SK 20’, film is jointly produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, Suresh Productions and Shanthi Talkies. The film has music by Thaman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.

‘SK 20’, which promises to be an out and out fun entertainer, has Sathyaraj in a prominent role. Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka is the female lead. She has earlier acted in the Hindi web series ‘Special Ops 1.5’ and the Polish film ‘Eter’.

Director Anudeep KV’s ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ starring Naveen Polishetty was a huge hit at the box office. Naturally, expectations are high when he teams up with Sivakarthikeyan, who is on a high after the smashing success of ‘Don’.

Sivakarthikeyan also has and the sci-fi film ‘Ayalaan’ and an untitled film with Rajkumar Periyasamy coming up. Kamal Haasan is producing the latter.

Brahmastra teaser promises a visual spectacle

The fantasy adventure film, ‘Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva’ is gearing up for release on September 9. The makers kick-started the promotions with a grand teaser launch. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt play the lead roles in the film, which is directed by Ayan Mukerji. Besides the two leads, the VFX-heavy teaser introduces the characters of Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy.

‘Brahmastra’ is a mythology-based fantasy trilogy with Ranbir and Alia playing the central characters named Shiva and Isha. Amitabh Bachchan essays a role named Professor Arvind Chaturvedi. While Nagarjuna will be seen as archaeologist named Ajay Vashisht, Mouni Roy’s character is named Damayanti. The makers are yet to reveal any details about any of these characters. A fair idea of the film is expected to be out once the trailer is released on June 15.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is backing this ambitious project, which will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.

Nivin Pauly’s Thuramukham postponed yet again

Much to the disappointment of fans, the release of Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Thuramukham’ got postponed yet again. The film was supposed to hit screens on June 3 but has been pushed to June 10 due to the some legal issues. The film directed by Rajeev Ravi has been in the making for nearly three years now. It has seen several delays due to the pandemic and production issues.

‘Thuramukham’ is a period film made on a big canvas. Scripted by Gopan Chidambaran based on his father KM Chidambaran’s play of the same name, the film is based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive work guarantee scheme.

‘Thuramukham’ has a big star cast comprising of actors like Indrajith Sukumaran, Arjun Ashokan, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Poornima Indrajith, Sudev Nair, Darshana Rajendran and Manikandan Achari in prominent roles.

Meanwhile, Rajeev Ravi’s latest release ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ is performing poorly at the box office despite positive reviews from the critics.

The much-awaited Kamal Haasan-starrer ‘Vikram’ is set to hit screens on June 3. Ahead of the release, the makers have been sharing character posters of the lead actors. Fahadh Faasil’s character in the film is named Amar and Vijay Sethupathi is Sandhanam. Today, the makers shared a glimpse of Suriya’s look from the film.
However, they didn’t reveal the character’s name, to further fuel the speculations. There are multiple theories in social media about Suriya’s character in the film. Director Lokesh and Kamal have hinted several times that the story of Vikram will continue and Suriya will be a part of it.

‘Vikram’, which will release simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, has a runtime of 173 minutes. The film has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, music by Anirudh, edits by Philomin Raj and stunts handled by AnbAriv duo.

Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing it.

Popular playback singer KK passes away

Playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away last night in Kolkata. The 53-year-old fell ill while performing a performing at Nazrul Mancha for Gurudas College’s fest when he fell ill. Though he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, he was declared brought dead.

Born to Malayali parents CS Menon and Kunnath Kanakavalli, KK was brought up in New Delhi. He began his career by singing for advertisement jingles before AR Rahman launched him in films with ‘Kadhal Desam’ (1996). In a career spanning over 25 years, KK went on to record songs in several languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati.

In South, KK delivered most of his hits in Tamil. He frequently collaborated with composers like AR Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, Vidyasagar and Yuvan Shankar Raja. More recently, Harris had recorded a song with him for the upcoming film, ‘Legend’.

People from all walks of the society, including film industry celebrities and politicians, are paying their condolences for KK through social media.
