Pakalum Paathiravum: Ajai Vasudev’s next starring Kunchacko Boban and Rajisha Vijayan wrapped up

Director Ajai Vasudev has successfully wrapped up the shoot of his new film ‘Pakalum Paathiravum’. Starring Kunchacko Boban and Rajisha Vijayan as the leads, the film was a quickie that was shot in very less time. Last day, the director took to his social media handle to pen a note of gratitude thanking all the cast and crew members for their efforts to wrap up shoot in such a short period.

Ajai Vasudev, who is known for making over-the-top mass entertainers like ‘Masterpiece’ and ‘Rajadhiraja’, seems to be attempting something new with ‘Pakalum Paathiravum’. Nishad Koya is scripting the film and it is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner Sree Gokulam Movies. VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan are the co-producers.

‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ fame Manoj KU, Seetha and ‘Jai Bhim’ Tamizh will be seen in prominent roles. Faiz Siddik, noted for his work in ‘Operation Java’, is the cinematographer and music department is handled by Stephen Devassy and Kedar (background score). Riyas K Badhar is the editor.

Meppadiyan trailer release date announced

It was recently announced that the Unni Mukundan starrer ‘Meppadiyan’ will be hitting screens on January 14, 2022. The makers have now informed that the film’s trailer will be out on December 23. It will also be screened in theatres.

‘Meppadiyan’ is directed by debutant Vishnu Mohan. The film promises to be a complete family entertainer. Unni Mukundan, who is also producing the film, has pinned high hopes on it. The actor plays a village-based youth named Jayakrishnan. It is a character very unlike the stylish, urban roles that he is known for.

Anju Kurian of ‘Jack and Daniel’ fame plays the female lead. ‘Meppadiyaan’ has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of actors like Saiju Kurup, Kottayam Ramesh, Major Ravi, Aju Varghese, Vijay Babu, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nisha Sarang, Indrans, Kundara Johny, Sreejith Ravi and Pauly Valsan.

AR Rahman to score music for Fahadh Faasil’s Malayankunju

Fahadh Faasil’s new film ‘Malayankunju’ is gearing up for release. The film is directed by debutant Sajimon, who has assisted many senior directors. Mahesh Narayanan, who had directed Fahadh in ‘Take Off’, ‘Malik’ and ‘CU Soon’, is scripting the film. He is also debuting as a cinematographer with this film.

Latest buzz is that maestro AR Rahman is scoring music for ‘Malayankunju’. If this is true, it will be AR Rahman’s third Malayalam after ‘Yodha’, and the yet-to-be-released ‘Aadujeevitham’.

Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai broke the news by tweeting,

‘Malayankunju’ is a survival thriller that is based on a natural calamity. Earlier this year in March, Fahadh got injured while shooting for the film. He broke his news when he fell down from the top of a building. The makers are yet to reveal any details about the film, which has raised the curiosity among the many. The much-awaited trailer is coming out on December 24, which is expected to give glimpses of what’s in store.

Ariyippu: Kunchacko Boban’s next with Mahesh Narayanan begins

We had earlier reported about Kunchacko Boban reuniting with ‘Take Off’ director Mahesh Narayanan for a new film titled ‘Ariyippu’. The film got launched last day with a customary pooja ceremony. Kunchacko Boban, Mahesh and Shebin Backer are jointly producing the film.

‘Ariyippu’ also has Mahesh Narayanan as the scenarist and editor. Sanu John Varghese, who shot Mahesh’s previous films ‘Take Off’ and ‘Malik’, has been retained as the DOP. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Kunchacko Boban, who was last seen in ‘Bheemante Vazhi’, has a long line up for promising projects including — the bilingual ‘Ottu’ with Arvind Swami, Aashiq Abu’s ‘Neelavelicham’, ‘Padmini’ with Senna Hegde, the ‘Anjaam Pathira’ sequel ‘Aaraam Pathira’, and Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval’s ‘Nna, Thaan Case Kodu’.

Mahesh Narayanan, meanwhile, is also teaming up with Fahadh Faasil for the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. The short segment will reportedly be shot in Canada. Mahesh also has his Hindi directorial debut ‘Phantom Hospital’ and a film with Kamal Hassan in the pipeline.

Here’s the Malayalam trailer of Shyam Singha Roy

Telugu star Nani’s new film ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is coming out in Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi as well. With the film set to hit screens on December 24, the makers have released the trailer and it looks highly promising.

‘Shyam Singha Roy directed by ‘Taxiwala’ fame Rahul Sankrityan is set in two different timelines. The film has Sai Pallavi, Krithi Shetty and Malayalam actress Madonna Sebastian as the female leads. It is worth a mention that Sai Pallavi and Nani have worked together previously in ‘Middle Class Abbayi’. Their on-screen chemistry in it was well appreciated.

‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is scripted by Shiva Nirvana and Venky Kudumula. ‘Mahanati’ fame Mickey J Meyer is composing the music and cinematography is by Sanu John Varughese. Notably, he was also the DOP of Nani’s hit sports-drama ‘Jersey’.

‘Shyam Singha Roy’ is being produced by Niharika Entertainment.

Release date of Tovino’s Naradhan out

Tovino Thomas has starrer ‘Naradhan’ has got its release date. The film will be hitting screens on January 27. Directed by Aashiq Abu and scripted by Unni R, the film is touted to be a journalism-based thriller. Anna Ben is the female lead and she reportedly plays the role of an advocate.

While it is a first for Anna Ben, Tovino has already worked with Aashiq Abu twice, in ‘Mayaanadhi’ and ‘Virus’. Though the makers have not divulged any details about the film, ‘Naradhan’ still promises to be an interesting project. Renji Panicker, Indrans, Jaffer Idukki, Navas Vallikunnu, Rajesh Madhavan, Sharafudheen, Lukman and many others are part of the cast.

‘Naradhan’ has cinematography by Jaffer Zadique. Saiju Sreedharan is the editor and music department is being handled by ‘Da Thadiya’ actor Sekhar Menon. It is produced jointly by Aashiq Abu, Rima Kallingal and Santhosh T Kuruvilla.

We had earlier reported about Dulquer Salmaan starring in the directorial debut of popular dance choreographer Brinda. The film’s first look is now out. It is a colourful and vibrant poster featuring a stylish-looking Dulquer in various shades. The actor plays a character named Yaazhan in the film.

‘Hey Sinamika’ is said to be a rom-com entertainer. Kajal Aggarwal and Aditi Rao Hydari will be seen as the female leads. It is the first time that the three lead actors – Dulquer, Kajal and Aditi – are sharing screen space, which heightens the expectations on the film.

‘Hey Sinamika’ is scripted by Karky. Govind Vasantha of ’96’ fame is in charge of the music department and cinematography is handled by Preetha Jayaraman. Jio Studios is producing the film, which is also their maiden production venture in Tamil.

Along with the first look, the makers have also announced that the film will be hitting screens on February 25, 2022.

As the makers of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ eye a grand theatrical release next year, they have started introducing the characters with special posters. After sharing posters featuring Soubin Shahir and Shine Tom Chacko, the makers have unveiled a new one featuring Sreenath Bhasi. His character in the film is named as Ami. Soubin plays a character named Ajas and Shine Tom’s is Peter.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ directed by Amal Neerad is a gangster drama set in the 80s. Mammootty plays a larger-than-life don-like role in the film. Newcomer Devadath Shaji has scripted it along with Amal Neerad. Anend C Chandran of ‘Premam’ fame is the cinematographer and Sushin Shyam handles the music department. Amal Neerad himself is producing the film.

The cast of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ also includes Farhaan Faasil, ‘Kettyolaan Ente Malakha’ fame Veena Nandakumar, Nadiya Moidu, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathi and Lena.

After a blockbuster run in theatres, Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kurup’ has dropped in on Netflix. After its OTT release, talks about the film have resumed. Director Ranjith Sankar, known for helming many hit films, has penned a brief note on his Facebook page showering praise on Dulquer Salmaan and whole ‘Kurup’ team.

According to the ‘Varsham’ director, ‘Kurup’ has the best production design he has seen in Malayalam Cinema so far. In his post, he mentioned the names of director Srinath Rajendran, actor Shine Tom Chacko, production designer Vinesh Banglan, cinematographer Nimish Ravi, editor Vivek Harshan and music director Sushin Shyam and praised them all for their impressive work.

Pratap Pothen heaps praise on Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham

‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ recently started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Besides the original Malayalam version, the film is also out in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages. Many who missed out watching the film in theatres are now catching it on OTTs and a wide range of opinions are flooding on social medias.

Though ‘Marakkar’ was released in theatres amidst tremendous hype, the film failed to live up to the expectations. It faced severe backlash in social medias, majorly criticising the lacklustre screenplay and lack of heroic moments. Veteran actor-filmmaker Pratap Pothen has now come out supporting the film. According to him, it’s director Priyadarshan’s best work and the film would entertainment if watched without any prejudice.

Pratap Pothen’s Facebook post reads,

I saw Marrikkar yesterday on Amazon Prime…I loved the movie, and shamelessly at that… it’s Priyan’s best work, according to me ….the last time I saw a Priyan movie that inhabited my soul was Thenmavin Kombathu…well..Marrikar is told on an epic scale that has never been seen in Malayalam cinema …in that way, it’s a first of its kind ..Priyan has told this tale with style and understanding of entertainment…I suffer from Attention deficiency…but once I started watching this 3-hour movie I was transported into the world of the Priyans creation everything about the film is first class …the photography …the outstanding production design…the music ….the sound …and to top it all the acting ….everyone was brilliant ….Mohanlal what else can u possibly say about an actor who is simply brilliant he will be the face of Kunjali in the decades to come all the other actors were just simply super stars supporting a
