It’s a wrap for Jayaram-Meera Jasmine starrer Makal

Shoot for Sathyan Anthikad’s new film with Jayaram and Meera Jasmine has come to an end. The film titled ‘Makal’ has Jayaram and Meera Jasmine playing a married couple. Devi Sanjay of ‘Njan Prakashan’ fame will be seen as their daughter. Innocent, Siddique and Sreenivasan are essaying other supporting roles.

‘Makal’ promises to be a typical Sathyan Anthikad style family entertainer. The director is reuniting with Jayaram after 11 years. The duo has previously worked together in several memorable films in the 90s and 2000s. With Jayaram being on a lean patch for a long time, ‘Makal’ is expected to give him his much-needed comeback. Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram is scripting the film.

For ‘Makal’, Sathyan Anthikad has retained his frequent collaborator S Kumar as the cinematographer. Music department will be handled by ‘Ambili’ fame Vishnu Vijay. Art director Prashant Madhav, costume designer Sameera Saneesh and sound designer Anil Radhakrishnan are also part of the technical team.
The film is produced by Central Pictures.

Thuramukham release date announced with new teaser

After multiple delays in release, the makers of ‘Thuramukham’ have announced that the film will be hitting theatres on January 20, 2022. The release date was announced with a new teaser. The Rajeev Ravi directorial is a period film based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 1940s wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive work guarantee scheme. The new teaser has footage of the same.

Indrajith Sukumaran, Arjun Ashokan, Joju George, Nimisha Sajayan, Poornima Indrajith, Sudev Nair, Darshana Rajendran and Manikandan Achari essay other prominent roles in the film. Gopan Chidambaran has scripted the film based on his father KM Chidambaran’s play of the same name. Sukumar Thekkeppat of Mini Studio is producing the film.

‘Thuramukham’ was supposed to release much earlier but got delayed several times due to the pandemic. The makers had planned to release the film earlier this year in May during the Eid season. But it wasn’t possible because of the pandemic second wave.

Kaaval set to be out on Netflix; Release date announced

Suresh Gopi’s ‘Kaaval’ had hit screens on November 25. After a fair run in theatres, the film is now coming out on Netflix on December 27. Producer Joby George informed the same with a Facebook post, which is also a note of gratitude. It reads,

‘Kaaval’ is written and directed by Nithin Renji Panicker of ‘Kasaba’ fame. Suresh Gopi plays a character named Thamban in it. Renji Panicker, Zaya David, Alencier Ley Lopez, IM Vijayan, Sujith Shankar, Kichu Tellus, Binu Pappu, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Muthumani and Pathamaraj Ratheesh are also part of the cast.

Trailer of Sunny Wayne-starrer Appan is highly intriguing

We had earlier reported about Sunny Wayne reuniting with ‘French Viplavam’ director Maju KB for a new film titled ‘Appan’. Its trailer got released last day and it is intriguing to say the least. Alencier Ley plays the titular character — a bed-ridden aged man, whose death is eagerly awaited by the family. Sunny plays the role of his son and Pauly Valsan is seen as his wife. Ananya and Grace Antony also seem to be playing prominent roles in the film.

From the trailer, ‘Appan’ looks like a very promising film. It is anything unlike what Sunny Wayne has done before in his career. The actor himself is producing the film along with Josekutty Madathil and Ranjith Manambarakkat’s banner Tiny Hands Productions.

‘Appan’ has its story written by director Maju. He has penned the screenplay jointly with R Jayakumar. The film has Pappu cranking the camera and Dawn Vincent has scored the music. Kiran Das is handling the edits.

Director Vignesh Shivan’s new film ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ is in the final stages of production as the makers eye an early release next year. Starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and Samantha as the leads, it is a highly anticipated film by many.

Latest reports suggest that former Indian cricketer Sreesanth will be seen in an important role in the film. A photo of Vijay Sethupathi and Sreesanth together have triggered the speculations. If it is true, this will be Sreesanth’s debut outing in Tamil cinema. He has previously acted in a few Malayalam and Hindi films.

‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ touted to be a romantic entertainer with a triangular love story at its core. Vijay Sethupathi plays a character named Ranjankudi Anbarasu Murugesa Boopathy Ohoondhiran aka Rambo in it. The film has Samantha playing a role named Kathija and Nayanthara as Kanmani. All the three lead actors are expected to have equal importance in the film.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music and Vijay Karthik Kannan of ‘Aadai’ and ‘Doctor’ fame cranks the camera. The film is produced by 7 Screen Studios and Rowdy Pictures.

After the character poster featuring Soubin Shahir, the makers of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ have now released the second poster featuring Shine Tom Chacko. He plays a role named Peter and the poster has wearing stylish shades with a half burnt cigarette on his lips. Shine, who recently got widespread praise for his performance in ‘Kurup’, is expected to be seen in a solid role in ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ as well.

Directed by Amal Neerad, ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ has Mammootty playing the lead role. The film is touted to be a gangster drama set in the 80s. Newcomer Devadath Shaji has scripted it along with Amal Neerad.

Gaaname: Here’s a soulful melody from Madhuram

‘June’ director Ahammed Khabeer’s new film ‘Madhuram’ is coming out on Sony Liv on December 24. With the release date closing in, the makers have shared a new video song online. Titled ‘Gaaname’, it is a soulful melody sung by Sooraj Santhosh and Nithya Mammen. Hesham Abdul Wahab has composed the track, which has lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar. The song visuals feature two parallel tracks — one involving Joju George and Shruthi Ramachandran, and the other featuring Arjun Ashokan and Nikhila Vimal.

‘Madhuram’ promises to be a feel-good entertainer. The film tells the story of a few people who bond in a hospital. Director Ahammed has written the story while screenplay is penned jointly by Ashiq Aimar and Fahim Safar. Indrans, Jaffer Idukki, Fahim Safar, Malavika, Babu Jose and a few others will be seen in supporting roles.

The film has Jithin Stanislaus as the cinematographer and Mahesh Bhuvanend as the editor. Joju George is producing the film along with Sijo Vadakkan under the banner of Appu Pappu Pathu Production House.

‘Oruthee’ scripted by S Suresh Babu has Navya Nair playing the role of a boat conductor, who is also a mother of two. The actress, who has been away from movies post her marriage, is making her comeback to Malayalam cinema with this film. Her performance in ‘Oruthee’ has already bagged a few awards including the one for Best Actress at JC Daniel Foundation Film Awards.

The teaser of upcoming Tamil film ‘Alambana’ has been released. It is a fun, fantasy film in which Vaibhav and Malayalam actress Parvati play the leads. The latter is noted for her roles in Tamil films like ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ and ‘Uttama Villain’. She was last seen in a full-fledged role in Tamil in ‘Nimir’.

‘Alambana’ tells the story of royal family that lose all their fortune after the birth of the youngest heir. Vaibhav plays this role. Munishkanth is seen as a genie in the teaser. The elaborate cast also includes Yogi Babu, Anandraj, Robo Shankar, Dindigul Leoni, Pandiyaraj, Murali Sharma and Kabir Singh.

The film is directed by Pari K Vijay. Music director Hiphop Tamizha, DOP Vinoth Rathinasamy, editor San Lokesh, art director Gopi Anand and stunt choreographer Peter Hein are part of the technical crew. The film is Kotapadi J Rajesh of KJR Studios and Koustubh Entertaiment.
