Dhanush sings for Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai

We had earlier reported about Soori and Vijay Sethupathi playing the leads in Vetrimaaran’s next titled ‘Viduthalai’. The film’s shoot is currently in the final stages. Maestro Ilaiyaraja is composing the music. In a recent interview, Vetrimaaran revealed that the film has a total of 3 songs, one of which is rendered by Dhanush.

Though the actor has sung for composers like Anirudh, GV Prakash and Yuvan Shankar Raja, this is the first time he is lending his voice for a song composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Apparently, the veteran composer trained Dhanush from 11 AM to 3 PM before recording the song.

‘Viduthalai’ is based on the short story ‘Thunaivan’ written by Jeyamohan. Soori plays a police constable in the film while Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as an accused. Prakash Raj and Gautham Menon essay other prominent roles. Bhavani Sre, who made an impressive debut with ‘Thangam’ in the Netflix anthology ‘Paava Kadhaigal’, is also part of the cast.

Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment is producing the film.

Aishwarya Lekshmi to be paired with Arya in her next Tamil film

Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi has signed a Tamil film. She will be seen as the female lead in director Shakti Soundar Rajan’s new film. Arya will be playing the lead role in it. This is the actor-director duo’s second film together after ‘Teddy’.

Touted to be an action packed sci-fi film, the film went on floors only recently. Veteran actress Simran will be seen in a major role. Others in the cast include Harish Uthaman, Kavya Shetty and Gokul Anand. D Imman scores music for this movie, which will have cinematography by Yuva.

Aishwarya Lekshmi, who made her Tamil debut with the Vishal starrer ‘Action’, is also part of the upcoming Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. The ‘Mayaanadhi’ actress is also making her Telugu debut with ‘Godse’, co-starring Sathyadev. Besides that, she also has ‘Archana 31 Not Out’, ‘Kumari’ and ‘Bismi Special’ coming up in Malayalam.

First look of Amala Paul’s Cadaver out!

Amala Paul has launched her own production house, Amala Paul Productions. The first look and motion poster of her banner’s maiden Tamil film ‘Cadaver’ has been released. Bollywood star Akshay Kumar released the motion poster through his social media handle.

‘Cadaver’ has Amala Paul playing the lead role of a police surgeon. Anoop Panicker is directing the film and it is scripted by Abhilash Pillai. Aravind Sinngh is cinematographer and edits are handled by San Lokesh. Ranjin Raj is the music director.

Sharing the excitement of turning a producer, Amala Paul wrote in her Instagram handle,

I’ve been in the industry as an actress for 12 years,144 months, and 4380 days.

It’s been such an enriching and rewarding twelve years, my heart is full of gratitude for everyone who’s made Amala Paul – Amala Paul.

I’ve now grown wings, and I’m now venturing into a new line of work. I’ve turned producer with my very own production house @amalapaulproductions
It goes without saying, I can bank on each and everyone one of you to support me with this venture.

Taking baby steps into this new vertical with Cadaver; A forensic thriller with a police surgeon as the investigating officer.

Chemban Vinod joins the cast of Kamal Haasan-Lokesh film Vikram

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming film ‘Vikram’ already has a huge star cast. Kamal Haasan headlines the project with Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles. Latest to join the cast is Malayalam actor Chemban Vinod Jose. It is learnt that the ‘Ee Maa Yau’ actor will be seen playing a key role in the film. This will be his second outing after the antagonist role in ‘Goli Soda 2’.

‘Vikram’ also stars Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, Megha Akash and Shivani Narayanan. The film will reportedly feature Swathishta Krishnan as Kalidas Jayaram’s pair. Touted to be an action packed entertainer, ‘Vikram’ has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, music by Anirudh Ravichander, edits by Philomin Raj and stunts handled by AnbAriv duo.

Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film. Though ‘Vikram’ was rumoured to be a spin-off of Kamal’s 1986 film of the same name, the makers are yet to confirm it.

Suriya announces his next with Bala

Actor Suriya has announced his new film with National-award winning filmmaker Bala. It is their third film together after ‘Nandha’ and ‘Pithamagan’. Suriya had also made a cameo appearance in the director’s 2011 film ‘Avan Ivan’.

Suriya considers Bala as his true mentor. It is his role in ‘Nandha’ that established him as a serious performer. Announcing their new project through his Twitter handle, Suriya wrote that it was Bala’s faith in him that gave him a new identity and introduced him to a new world. The actor sounded excited about their reunion as he shared a photo taken with his father Sivakumar and Bala. More details regarding the project are awaited.

The ‘Soorarai Pottru’ actor is currently waiting for the release of ‘Jai Bhim’. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film has Suriya playing an advocate’s role for the first time in his career. It is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 2.

Suriya has also completed the shoot of ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ directed by Pandiraj. He also has ‘Vaadivaasal’ with Vetrimaaran coming up.

‘Viduthalai’ is said to be based on the short story ‘Thunaivan’ written by Jeyamohan. Ilaiyaraja is composing music for the film and cinematography is by R Velraj. The meastro has already started composing and actor Dhanush has sung a track in the film.

Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment is producing the film, shoot for which is nearing completion. Vetrimaaran still needs another 20 days from Vijay Sethupathi to complete the shoot.

Minnal Murali trailer: Tovino shines as the desi superhero!

The trailer of ‘Minnal Murali’ has been released by Netflix. It is quite a detailed one from which we learn that Tovino’s character gets superhero powers after being struck by a powerful lightning. He enjoys his super powers and experiments with it, which makes way for many fun moments. However, the trailer doesn’t reveal anything about the conflict part. Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram plays the villain role in the film. Expect for some slight glimpses, nothing much about his character is shown, which makes it intriguing.

Directed by Basil Joseph, ‘Minnal Murali’ is planned as a pan-Indian film that will be released in 5 languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. It is scripted by Arun Anirudhan and Justin Mathew.

Sophia Paul of Weekend Blockbusters is producing ‘Minnal Murali’. Though the makers were keen on a theatrical release, the long delay due to the pandemic forced them to opt for a direct OTT release. Netflix acquired the rights for a huge price. The film will be out on their platform on December 24 as a Christmas special.

Annaatthe trailer: Rajinikanth’s new film promises to be a proper festive entertainer

The trailer of Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ has been released. The 2.41-minute long trailer gives an overall idea about what to expect from the film. Rajinikanth plays a character named Kalaiyyan, who is the president of the neighbouring villages. He heads a large joint family that includes the likes of Khsubhu, Meena, Pandiarajan, Livingston, Sathish, Soori, Kulapulli Leela and many others.

Keerthy Suresh plays Rajinikanth’s sister in the film and Nayanthara is paired opposite him. It is the heartwarming brother-sister bonding between Rajinikanth and Keerthy that forms the film’s crux. Things take a turn after she gets married. Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu and Abhimanyu Singh play the baddies. While the first half of the film seems to be placed in a rural setting, the action shifts to Kolkata in the second half.

From the trailer, it is clear that ‘Annaatthe’ is very much on the lines of director Siva’s last film ‘Viswasam’. With such a huge star cast and all the commercial elements, ‘Annaatthe’ is most likely to emerge as a big success during this festive period. The film is scheduled to have a grand Deepavali release on November 4, 2021.

Tovino pins high hopes on Thallumala; Here’s the first poster!

Tovino Thomas is currently working on a new film titled ‘Thallumala’. Directed by Khalid Rahman, the film has Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead. Earlier in the day, the makers released a colourful and eye-catching poster from the film. Tovino has shared it in his social media handles. He seems to have pinned high hopes on the film as he wrote that he hasn’t done a project as kickass as this.

Tovino’s post reads,

Thallumala is as vibrant and dinchak as this first look poster. As much as I would have wanted to say more about the movie, want this whistle worthy insane entertainer to be experienced by all of you on the big screens ! But this is the very first time , I’m doing a project as kickass as this.

‘Thallumala’ is scripted by Muhsin Parari and Ashraf Hamza, the director of ‘Thamaasha’ .Jimshi Khalid is the cinematographer and Vishnu Vijay handles the music department. Ashiq Usman is producing the film.

The makers have already confirmed that they are planning to release the film for Eid 2022.

Vineeth Sreenivasan had earlier announced that the first video song from his upcoming directorial ‘Hridayam’ will be out on October 25, the day when theatres will be reopening in Kerala. Prior to that, the makers have released the song teaser online. Titled ‘The Darshana Song’, it seems to be a fun track centered around Darshana Rajendran’s character. Interestingly, the actress has also sung the track along with composer Hesham Abdul Wahab. The teaser visuals has the cast and crew talking about the fun they had during the making this catchy song.

‘Hridayam’ stars Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Darshana Rajendran as the leads. Scripted by Vineeth himself, the film promises to be a youthful entertainer. Vineeth has taken real-life inspirations to script this film, which tracks the life journey of a few individuals from their college days. Major portions of the film have been shot in the same engineering college in which Vineeth and his wife Divya studied.

Aju Varghese, Vijayaraghavan, Arun Kurian and several newcomers are also part of the cast. Viswajith Odukkathil is the DOP and edits handled by veteran Ranjan Abraham.

The film is jointly produced jointly by Merryland Productions and Big Bang Entertainments.
