Malayalam filmmaker Sachidhanandhan aka Sachy passed away last night at a private hospital in Thrissur. He was on ventilator support before breathing his last at around 9.30 PM on Thursday. The final rites will be performed today at Ravipuram Crematorium in Kochi.

Sachy’s demise has come at a time when he was at the peak of his career. The back-to-back blockbuster success of ‘Driving License’ and ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ had taken Sachy to the elite league of writer-directors in Malayalam. Fittingly, his last released film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ was his best work till date.

The film was a huge success and is set to be remade with top stars in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Bollywood superstar John Abraham had acquired the film’s Hindi remake rights. Upon hearing the passing away of Sachy, John took to his social media handle to tweet,

Shattered to lose such a talent. Rest in peace my friend. #RIP #Sachy

Earlier, after bagging the remake rights of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, John had written,

Ayyappanum Koshiyum, a film that strikes a perfect balance between action, thrill and a good story. At JA Entertainment we are keen to bring such appealing stories to our audience..we hope to make a truly engaging film with this remake in Hindi. Really Excited !!!

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ had Prithviraj and Biju Menon in the lead roles. It is a dual hero film that revolves around the conflict between a soon-to-retire policeman and a retired havildar. It is an intricately woven tale of revenge with several relevant socio-political issues addressed. Sachy was widely appreciated for dishing out a mass entertainer that doesn’t question the sensibilities of the audience. It remains to be see how the remake versions turn out.
