Here’s the trailer of Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo

Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ directed by Trivikram Srinivas has been planned as a Sankranti release. The film is set to hit screens worldwide on January 12. Prior to that, the makers have released its trailer online. The film has a stellar star cast, which includes two female leads in Pooja Hegde and Nivetha Pethuraj. Samuthirakani, Tabu, Sushanth, Navdeep, Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji and Sunil play other major roles.

From the trailer, ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ looks like a romantic-family entertainer that focusses on three generations. Jayaram is said to be playing the role of Allu Arjun’s father and he is seen sporting an extremely stylish look in the film. Prior to the start of shoot, Jayaram had shed a few pounds to look fit and smart as the character demanded it. Veteran actress Tabu is paired with him.

‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ is jointly produced by S Radhakrishna and Allu Aravind under the banners of Geetha Arts and Haarika & Hassine Creations.

Prathi Poovankozhi enters third successful week of theatrical run!

Manju Warrier starrer ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ is continuing well at the box office. The film has successfully entered its third week of theatrical run. With strong support from the family audience, the film is still running in a good number of screens across Kerala.

Rosshan Andrrews has directed the film and is scripted by Unni R. It is centred around Madhuri, an ordinary woman working in a textile shop in Kottayam. She gets physically harassed in a bus while on her way to work. The incident has a deep impact in her and she decides to track down the molester and teach him a lesson. Director Rosshan Andrews himself has played the molester’s role.

Manju Warrier’s popularity among the family audience and the fact that the film deals with a relevant social issue has worked in its benefit. Rosshan Andrrrews, Anusree, Grace Antony and Saiju Kurup have also delivered notable performances. Despite facing stiff competition from a bunch of other films, ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’ has managed to emerge as the winner.

Pattas trailer: Dhanush does the double act once again!

Earlier in the day, the trailer of Dhanush’s new film ‘Pattas’ got released online. The star plays a dad-son dual role in the film. It looks like the father character is a traditional martial arts artist. Sneha plays his wife while Mehreen Pirzada is paired with the son character.

‘Pattasu’ is directed by RS Durai Senthil Kumar, with whom Dhanush has previously worked in ‘Kodi’. Interestingly, ‘Kodi’ was also a dual role film. Dhanush had also produced the director’s debut film ‘Ethir Neechal’, which had Sivakarthikeyan in the lead.

‘Pattas’ also stars Nasser, Sathish, Munishkanth, Naveen Chandra and many others. The film has music composed by the talented Vivek-Merwin duo and cinematography by Om Prakash. Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan are jointly producing the movie under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films.

‘Pattas’ is all set for a grand Pongal release.

Official: Dhanush-Rajisha Vijayan starrer titled Karnan!

‘Pariyerum Perumal’ director Mari Selvaraj’s new film with Dhanush has started rolling. As speculated earlier, the film has been titled as ‘Karnan’. The title was officially announced by producer Kalipuli S Thanu through their social media handle. Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan is making her Kollywood debut with this film. Veteran actor Lal, Yogi Babu, Azhagar Perumal and Natty aka Natarajan Subramanian are also part of the cast.

‘Karnan’ is said to be based on Manjolai Massacre or Thamirabani massacre of 23 July 1999. 17 labourers, including two women and a two-year-old child, died when they got into the river to escape police lathi charge. Mari Selvaraj, who has also penned the screenplay, is expected to deliver a powerful film, given the subject in hand is very solid.

The film has got a strong technical crew as well. Theni Eswar is handling the cinematography and Santhosh Narayanan will be composing the music.

Thalapathy 65: Vijay’s remuneration skyrockets to 100 crore!!

After delivering back to back massive blockbusters, Tamil actor Vijay has now become one of the most bankable superstars in Indian cinema. His last few films – ‘Mersal’, ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Bigil’ have all been hugely successful worldwide. Unlike other stars, Vijay’s films are doing tremendously well in both domestic and overseas centres. His new film, ‘Master’, which is still on the floors, has already done some huge pre-release business which includes the digital, streaming and theatrical rights in neighboring states.

Riding on the phenomenal success of his films, it is said that Vijay’s remuneration has skyrocketed to a whopping Rs 100 crore. Though an official announcement is yet to be made, Sun Pictures is reported to have offered this staggering amount for the star’s next film, tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 65’. It is learnt that the production house has already paid Rs 50 crore in advance to Vijay for their next project. Names of directors like Vetrimaaran, Shankar and AR Murugadoss are doing the rounds but the makers are yet to confirm on it.

If news about the new increased remuneration is true, Vijay is now the highest paid star in Tamil cinema beating Rajinikanth, who was paid Rs 90 for his upcoming release ‘Darbar’, which is also produced by Sun Pictures.

Parthiban to direct Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Otha Seruppu Hindi remake

Tamil actor-filmmaker Parthiban is known for his audacious experiments. His most recent film ‘Otha Seruppu Size 7’ was a thriller with single actor in it. He produced, wrote, directed played the lead in the film. It entered the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for having a single person writing, directing, solo acting and producing a film.

Parthiban is now set to remake the film in Hindi. The versatile Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be starring in it. Parthiban shared a photo of the two in his social media handle informing that initial set of discussions have begun.

‘Oththa Seruppu’ is centred around a murder accused who is being interrogated by the cops. The entire set of events happen within the interrogation room over a span of few hours. The film premiered at the Singapore South Asian Film Festival in August and released worldwide on 20 September 2019. Upon release, it received largely positive reviews from critics.

Parthiban’s performance and his craft in helming such an experimental film found appreciation. Nawazuddin seems to be an ideal choice for reprising the lead role in the remake version.

As informed earlier, the official teaser of Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’ will be out tomorrow (January 7). Fans as well as cinephiles are equally excited about the teaser release. The film is an ambitious one directed by ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame Sudha Kongara. She has also scripted the film along with Shalini Usha Nair.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan, who is also a retired captain of the Indian army. Along with Suriya, the cast also includes Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff and Mohan Babu. Malayali actress Aparna Balamurali plays the female lead.

GV Prakash is composing the music and cinematography is done by Niketh Bommireddy. Academy Award winner Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment is producing the film jointly with Suriya’s own production house, 2D Entertainment.

‘Soorari Pottru’ also has a Telugu version which is titled as ‘Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra’. Though it’s confirmed to be a summer 2020 release, announcement regarding the exact release date has not yet been made.

Mohanlal’s new film ‘Big Brother’ is all set to hit screens this month. The makers have released the lyric video of a new song online. The track titled ‘Oru Dinam’ is composed by Deepak Dev. Anand Bhaskar has lent his voice and lyrics for this track is written by Rafeeq Ahammed. Interestingly, Mohanlal has done additional percussion’s for the song.

‘Big Brother’ written and directed by Siddique looks like a action-thriller with family emotions at the core. Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, Anoop Menon, ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid, Gadha, Honey Rose, Mirna Menon, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Irshad, John Vijay, Tini Tom, Janardhanan, Satna Titus and Chemban Vinod Jose are part of the film’s cast.

‘Big Brother’ has cinematography done by Jithu Damodar and music department handled by Deepak Dev. Director Siddique, Jenso Jose, Philipose K Joseph, Manu Maliackal and Vaishak Rajan are producing the film.

‘Thuramukham’ an ambitious film directed by Rajeev Ravi. Shoot for the film has been progressing for over a year now. Its first look poster got released online just a while back. The film has a stellar star cast comprising of Nivin Pauly, Biju Menon, Indrajith Sukumaran, Nimisha Sajayan, Arjun Ashokan, Poornima Indrajith and Manikandan R Achari. This is the first time all these talented actors are coming together and from the look of things, this is a highly promising film.

‘Thuramukham’ is inspired from some true incidents. It revolves around a harbour and the lives of coastal people. The story is set in the Cochin harbour in the 1950s. It is based on the historic protests against the inhuman ‘chappa’ system, that existed during the 50s, wherein copper coins were thrown at waiting workers in a primitive ‘work guarantee’ scheme, which had resulted in police firing and martyrdom of three labourers in Mattancherry.

KM Chidambaran had earlier written a play named ‘Thuramukham’. Rajeev Ravi’s film is inspired from this play. The playwright’s son, Gopan Chidambaram, a scenarist, who has previously co-written ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’, is scripting this film.

As informed earlier, the first teaser of ‘Mariyam Vannu Vilakkoodhi’ has been released online. Aju Varghese shared the teaser through his official social media handle. The film written and directed by debutant Jenith Kachappilly stars Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar, Althaf Salim and Shabareesh Varma in the lead roles.

The teaser features Siju Wilson in an inebriated stage. An animated bird is seen emerging out of his ears, so it seems like the film has some fantasy elements as well. We hear that the film is a complete fun entertainer, the story of which happens over a single night.

‘Ithihasa’ fame Rajesh Augustine is producing the film in association with Captain Bipin Rajendran, Sunil Kumar Vakeel and Srijith Babu. Since the film marks the reunion of the ‘Premam’ gang of actors – Siju Wilson, Shabareesh Varma, Krishna Shankar and Althaf Salim, we can expect to see some quality humour. It will be interesting to see how their rapport works on screen this time.

Sethulakshmi, Basil Joseph, Sidhartha Siva, Shiyas, Baiju Santhosh and a foreign actress named Irene Mihalkovich are also part of the film’s cast. The technical crew of ‘Mariyam Vannu Vilakkoodhi’ comprises of cinematographer Shinoj P Ayyappan, editor Appu Bhattathiri and art director Manu Jagadh. Newcomers Wazim-Murali have composed the music with additional songs by Prashanth Pillai. The film is scheduled for release this month, exact date has not yet been announced.
