Blockbuster combo of Asif Ali and Jis Joy reunite for Vijay Superum Pournamiyum; First look out!

As we had reported earlier, Asif Ali and director Jis Joy are coming together once again after the superhit success of ‘Sunday Holiday’. Their upcoming movie is titled as ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum. Shoot for the movie was wrapped up recently and the first look poster has been released today in social medias.

Vijay Superum Pournamiyum is Asif Ali’s third film with Jis Joy after Bicycles Thieves and Sunday Holiday. This upcoming movie is touted to be a feel-good romantic flick. Aishwarya Lekshmi, who won hearts with her performance in Mayaanadhi, is paired with Asif in this movie. According to the director, Vijay Superum Pournmaiyum, unlike his earlier films, will be a socially reverent one with a strong message in it. The director himself has scripted the movie with prominence to humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments.

The movie has Asif playing an engineering graduate while Aishwarya plays his friend, Pournami, a MBA student. Asif and Aishwarya are teaming up for the first time, so their on-screen chemistry will definitely be a refreshing one. Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna and KPAC Lalitha, Balu Varghese, Arjun Ashokan and Aju Varghese are also there in supporting roles.

The technical crew includes cinematographer Ranadive of ‘CIA’ fame, editor Ratheesh and music director Prince. AK Sunil is producing the movie under the banner of New Surya Films.

As informed by us earlier in the day, Odiyan is gearing up to hit screens in December. The movie is currently in the post-production phase with CG and VFX works progressing in Mumbai. The makers have released a new poster today in social medias. Mohanlal, in his young get up, is seen running along with a herd of spotted deers. Earlier, the the team released a similar poster that had a fierce looking Mohanlal running with bullocks.

Odiyan scripted by Harikrishnan is based on the lives of odiyans, whose stories are popular in Kerala’s folklore. Odiyans are people who practice odividya, which is a kind of black magic. The connection between animals and odiyans are very popular in folklore. According to director VA Shrikumar Menon, the movie will be a mass entertainer with elements of fantasy and magical realism.

The movie has Mohanlal as Manikyan, who is an expert in odividya. The narrative follows his life from his childhood to his 60s. Since the narrative is set in different timelines, the actor will be seen in multiple looks in the movie, which includes a clean shaven avatar. For playing the younger part, the actor had put in a lot of physical efforts and reduced around 18 kilos of body weight.

Odiyan also stars Prakash Raj, Manju Warrier, Manoj Joshi, Naren and Sana Althaf in prominent roles.
Its technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score).

Earlier, the makers had announced October 11 as the release date, but it has now been rescheduled to December 14 due to the floods.

National award winning filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe is a highly anticipated movie. Tamil cinema are eagerly waiting for the movie as the director’s debut film, Aaranya Kaandam was a cult hit. Super Deluxe is an anthology film with an ensemble star cast. The movie has Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, Mysskin and Ramya Krishnan in major roles.

Vijay Sethupathi is playing the role of a transgender in one of the segments in the movie. One of his photos from the movie’s sets was shared by the director in his social media handle. Nothing much is known about Super Deluxe as the makers have maintained utmost secrecy throughout the production time.

Super Deluxe has some of the finest talents of South Indian cinema working in it. Directors Mysskin and Nalan Kumarasamy are penning the movie’s dialogues. PS Vinod, noted for his work in several Bollywood movies, is the cinematographer and Yuvan Shankar Raja handles the music department. The movie is expected to hit screens sometime by the end of this year itself.

On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, Hrithik Roshan took to social media to unveil the first look poster of his new movie, Super 30. The movie is based on the real life of a Patna-based mathematician, Anand Kumar and his educational program Super 30. The title alludes to the 30 underprivileged students who were trained by him to crack the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) entrance test.

Vikhal Bhal, who has made acclaimed films like Chillar Party and Queen, is directing Super 30. Roshan sports a nearly unrecognizable look with rough hair and unkempt thick beard. The actor well known for his dedication has visibly put in a lot of efforts to get his looks right. is convincing

Super 30 also stars debutant Mrunal Thakur, Virendra Saxena and Pankaj Tripathi in major roles. Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena, (Phantom Films), Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment are jointly producing the movie. Super 30 is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on January 25, 2019.

Dulquer Salmaan currently has two Tamil movies in his kitty – Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal (KKKA) and Vaan. While Vaan is yet to go on floors, KKKA is in its final stages of production. The movie directed by debutant Desingh Periyasamy has Telugu actress Ritu Varma of ‘Pelli Choopulu’ playing the female lead. A new photo of Dulquer and Ritu from the movie’s seats are currently doing the rounds in social medias.

KKKA is touted to be a fun filled romantic entertainer. Unlike the films that Dulquer has been doing of late, KKKA will be a colourful and loud film that screams entertainment. Dulquer plays the role of Sidharth aka Sid, a happy-go-lucky IT professional in the movie. His character is a larger than life one with some stylish heroic elements. The actor known for his penchant for trying different styles, will be seen sporting multiple looks in this movie.

As per latest reports, Dulquer is also lending his voice for a fun track in the movie. If it turns out to be true, it will be his playback singing debut in Tami. Popular music band Masala Cafe have been signed to compose for the movie.
Malayali producer Anto Joseph is producing KKKA under the banner of Anto Joseph Film Company. The movie is most likely to hit screens this year itself, but an official confirmation is still awaited.

Lilli Malayalam movie gearing up for release; Trailer on September 10

Debutant Prasobh Vijayan’s Lilli is an interesting film that is eagerly awaited by the Malayali cinephiles. Despite having no big star presence, the movie has managed to catch attention thanks to the intriguing posters and the highly impressive teaser. As the movie gears up to hit screens, the makers have planned to release the official trailer on September 10.

Prasobh Vijayan has scripted Lilli as a survival thriller revolving around a pregnant woman and her kidnappers. The movie was censored with an A certificate as it is loaded with some extremely raw and violent moments, a kind which is not generally seen in Malayalam cinema. From the teaser itself it is evident that Lilli will be a hard hitting thriller.

Lilli is the maiden venture of E4 Experiments. It is a new banner launched by E4 Entertainments with the objective of promoting young talents and doing low-budget films. Lilli has a bunch of newcomers in the cast. Samyukhtha Menon, Dhanesh Anand, Kannan Nayar, Sajin Cherukayil and Kevin Jose are playing major roles in the movie.

Its technical crew comprises of debutant cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran, composer Sushin Shyam and last year’s State award winning editor Appu Bhattathiri.

The makers have announced September 28 as the release date.

Drama will be on the lines of Pranchiyettan and The Saint: Ranjith

One of Mollywood’s all-time favorite actor-director combos, Mohanlal and Ranjith are coming together after a three-year-long gap. Their upcoming movie Drama is anything unlike their previous films. Drama is a fun entertainer without any superstar elements. After a long gap, Mohanlal is playing a fun role and so expectations are naturally on the higher side.

Ranjith believes that Drama is on the lines of his own film, Pranchiyettan And The Saint. Pranchi.. is widely rated as one of his finest works, for its subject and how cleverly humour was used in the movie. Similarly, Ranjith has scripted Drama as a feel-good movie with good dose of humour, sentiments and family drama. The movie’s teaser gives hints of a full-on fun entertainer.

Set entirely in the UK, the movie revolves around a middle-aged couple. Mohanlal plays the role of Rajasekharan aka Raju while Asha Sarath will be seen as his wife Rekha. The cast also has Arundhathi Nag, Niranj Maniyan Pilla Raju, Siddique, Dileesh Pothan, Shyamaprasad, Kaniha, Subi Suresh, Johny Antony, Renji Panicker, Shalin Zoya, Tini Tom and Baiju in supporting roles.

MK Nassar and Maha Subair are jointly producing Drama under the banners of Lilypad Motion Pictures and Varnachithra Good Line Productions. Release date has not yet been announced.

As we had earlier reported, director Aashiq Abu’s next will be based on the deadly Nipah outbreak in Kerala. Muhsin Parari, Suhas and Sharfu have jointly scripted the movie based on some real-life incidents that happened during the virus outbreak. The movie has an ensemble cast comprising of Revathy, Tovino Thomas, Parvathy, Asif Ali, Rima Kallingal, Kalidas Jayaram, Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Chemban Vinod Jose and Remya Nambeeshan.

Nipah virus killed 18 people in the state in May this year. Among those who most lives was a 28-year-old nurse, Lini Puthussery, who contracted Nipah and died while treating the affected in a government hospital in Kozhikode. Lini was taking care of Mohammad Sadik, one of the first victims of the virus. She developed a fever just days after Sadik passed away. After the virus was diagnosed, Lini was kept in the isolation ward and buried soon after her death. Her family was not allowed to cremate her body as health officials feared spread of the virus.

Lini sacrificed her life while doing her duty. Before passing away, she had written a brief letter to her husband asking him to take care of their kids. Her story was heartbreaking and soon caught international attention. Along with the state government, the World Health Organisation (WHO) also paid tributes to Lini for her service to the health sector.

In Aashiq Abu’s film Virus, Rima Kallingal will be essaying Lini’s role. The director confirmed this in a recent interview. Revathy has been cast in the role of State health minister. Details about other characters are not yet known. Just like the ensemble cast, the movie also has a solid technical crew comprising of cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, composer Sushin Shyam and editor Saiju Sreedharan. The makers are planning to start shooting by December and release it for next Vishu in April.

As we all know, Tamil actors enjoy great popularity in Kerala. From the likes of Rajinikanth to Vijay to Sivakarthikeyan, most of them enjoy a considerable fan base in the state. Vijay Sethupathi is one such actor who is loved unanimously by the movie going audience here. The actor also has a Kerala connect as his wife is a Malayali.

In a recent interview to a Malayalam channel, Vijay Sethupathi was all praise for Malayalam cinema and the quality of films that are being made here. In the interview, he mentioned that ‘The Great Father’ was the last Malayalam film that he got to watch. Apparently, he watched it with his wife and they both liked the movie.

The Great Father directed by Haneef Adeni had megastar Mammootty in the lead. The movie is a stylish revenge thriller, also featuring Arya, Sneha and Malavika Mohanan in major roles. In the interview Vijay Sethupathi said that the movie was a thrilling experience and added that he was particularly impressed by how the message was conveyed. He didn’t want to talk about Mammootty’s performance as he felt he was nobody to rate the acting of such a legendary star.

On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi has multiple films gearing up for release, namely Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Super Deluxe, 96, Seethakaathi and the Telugu film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.

We had earlier reported about director Ranjith Sankar and Jayasurya reuniting for a sequel to their hit horror film, Pretham. The sequel will once again have Jayasurya in the role of mentalist John Don Bosco. However, the plot will not be a continuation and will be dealing with another episode in the mentalist’s life.

Saniya Iyappan and Durga Krishna will be seen as the female leads in the movie. While Saniya made her debut with the hit film, Queen, Durga started off her career by playing Prithviraj’s pair in Vimaanam. Interestingly, both Saniya and Durga have signed for a big project each, besides Pretham 2. While Saniya is a part of Lucifer, Durga is on board for the epic-period film Marakkar : Arabikadalinte Simham, both starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead.

More details about their roles in Pretham 2 have not yet been revealed. Dain Davis, noted for his performance in comedy reality shows, has also been roped in for the movie. Pretham 2 is Jayasurya’s fifth film with director Ranjith Sankar. All their previous outings – Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam, Njan Marykutty, Pretham and the Punyalan franchise – were hits, so they will be putting in their best of efforts to continue the successful run.

Shoot for the movie is expected to commence shortly and they are planning it as a Christmas release in December.
