Sarkar: Vijay’s introduction song to be shot in Las Vegas!

Vijay-Murugadoss team’s upcoming movie Sarkar continues to be in the limelight. The stellar response to the title and first look posters shows the kind of expectations the movie has among the Tamil cinema audience. Sarkar, as the title suggests, is shaping up as a political thriller. The team has completed almost 80% of shoot and is working hard towards a grand Diwali release.

As per latest reports, Vijay along with team Sarkar will be heading to Las Vegas for shooting his introduction song. Vijay is playing the role of a rich businessman in the movie. Unlike his usual dance-heavy intro songs, the one is Sarkar has been planned as a montage sequence that will capture the glitzy and glamorous life in Vegas. The movie’s posters also suggest a similar milieu with an ultra-stylish Vijay and skyscrapers in the background.

Sarkar has Keerthy Suresh playing the female lead. Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar, Pala Karuppaiah, Radha Ravi, Livingston, Yogi Babu, Prem and many others are part of the movie’s supporting cast. In the technical side, Malayali cinematographer Girish Gangadharan cranks the camera and multiple National award Sreekar Prasad handles. The movie has its music by maestro AR Rahman. Sun Pictures is making their comeback to production by funding this big ticket film.

Minnaminni: Here’s a new song from Anjali Menon’s Koode!

As the much awaited Anjali Menon directorial Koode is getting ready to hit screens, the makers have released a new song from the movie. Titled as Minnaminni, this track follows a lovely bond between a teenage boy and his sister. Presumably, they are the younger parts of the roles played by Prithviraj and Nazriya Nazim. M Jayachandran has composed the track lyrics for which is penned by Rafeeq Ahammed. Abhay Jodhpurkar has lent his voice for this soulful song.

Koode is an eagerly awaited movie as it marks the comeback of both Anjali Menon and Nazriya Nazim. Prithviraj, Parvathy and Nazriya form a dream lead cast. According to Anjali, Koode, like all her films, is a heartwarming tale of relationships. The movie is primarily centred around Joshua, his sister Jenny and his romantic interest Sophie.

Koode also stars ace filmmaker Ranjith, Atul Kulkarni, Roshan Mathew, Sidharth Menon and Maala Parvathy in supporting roles. M Jayachandran and Rahul Dixit have composed the songs. Littil Swayamp, who made a spendid debut with Parava, is the DOP and Praveen Prabhakar handles the edits. M Renjith’s Rejaputhra Visual Media is producing Koode in association with Little Films India. The movie is all set to hit screens on July 6.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan-Bibin George duo’s next with Dulquer Salmaan all set to go on floors!

Dulquer Salmaan has lately been busy with his commitments in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu industries. The actor is now eyeing to make a strong comeback to Malayalam cinema. If reports are to be believed, his upcoming movie with debutant director BC Noufal will start rolling from the first week of July.

This yet-to-be titled movie is scripted by the superhit writer duo of Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George. Just like their previous films, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan, the duo have come up with a mass comedy entertainer for Dulquer as well. The audience can expect to see an unseen fun side of Dulquer Salmaan in this movie.

BC Noufal is a noted TV show director who has helmed popular shows like Deal or No Deal. He is making his feature film debut with this movie. Award winning filmmaker Salim Ahmed and Bibin George were former assistants of Noufal. The makers had initially planned to start shooting in February but it got postponed due to Dulquer’s packed schedule.

An official announcement with the title and other details regarding the cast and crew members is expected to be made very soon. Meanwhile, Dulquer is busy with the final leg of shoot of his upcoming Tamil movie Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal. His debut Hindi film Karwaan is also gearing up to hit screens on August 3.

We’re planning to start shooting for Randamoozham from next year: Mohanlal

As we all know, Malayalam cinema is coming up with a string of ambitious period flicks and the biggest among them all is Randamoozham aka The Mahabharatha. ‘Odiyan’ director VA Shrikumar Menon is set to direct this movie based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s award winning novel Randamoozham. UAE based businessman Dr BR Shetty is investing a whopping Rs 1000 crores for this project.

Randamoozham, the novel is actually based on the Indian epic Mahabharatha, told from the perspective of Bheemasenan. Mohanlal is playing the central character of Bheeman in the movie. The project was officially announced in April last year. Though the initial plan was to start shooting from this September, it had to be pushed due to various reasons.

Mohanlal in a recent interview has revealed that they are planning to go on floors from next year. The actor himself has a busy year ahead with three films coming up – Lucifer, his Tamil film with Surya and KV Anand and Marakkar – Arabikadalinte Simham. Randamoozham will go on floors only after Mohanlal is free from all his other commitments. Pre-production works for this epic film are still underway. The makers have hired a foreign casting agency to find suitable actors for the host of characters in Mahabharatha.

According to the makers, leading actors from Indian cinema and Hollywood will be part of the movie. It is being planned as a multilingual in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages. The movie will also have dubbed versions in all major Indian and foreign languages. This epic film will be made in two parts with the second installment hitting screens within three months time from the first part’s release. The makers are eyeing to release the first part by 2020.

I’m hoping to make Lucifer as a film which is worthy of Mohanlal as an actor and a star: Prithviraj

As we already know, actor Prithviraj is turning a filmmaker with ‘Lucifer’ in which superstar Mohanlal will be playing the lead. Murali Gopy has scripted this movie which is all set to on floors from July 18. The makers have kept utmost secrecy about the movie, with its even genre not yet known. This secrecy itself has raised a lot of curiosity.

Since this is the first time Prithviraj and Mohanlal are coming together, expectations are huge for Lucifer among the Malayali audience. The former has a huge responsibility on his shoulders and he is well aware of it. In a recent interview, when asked about what he feels about directing an actor like Mohanlal, he is quoted saying,

“Mohanlal is one of the best in the world and I will be able to tell a story through a lead character played by him. The responsibility is mine. I’m hoping that I make a film which is worthy of him as an actor and star.”

Earlier, Prithviraj had also hinted that Lucifer, like all Murali Gopy scripts, will be an intense film that demands strong performances from the actors. Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Murali Gopy, Manju Warrier and ‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan are rumored to be part of Lucifer’s cast but the makers are yet to give an official word.

Pre-production works are currently In the technical crew, Sujith Vaassudev will be cranking the camera and Deepak Dev has been signed as the music director. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Dulquer Salmaan to play a college professor in an upcoming Malayalam movie!

It has been long since Dulquer has had a Malayalam release. Lately, the actor has been busy with a slew of projects in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. If reports are to be believed, Dulquer is planning to make a strong comeback to his home turf, Malayalam cinema. Reportedly, Dulquer currently has three Malayalam movies in his kitty and all of them belong to different genres.

Salam Bukhari, a former associate of Anwar Rasheed, has roped in Dulquer for his directorial debut. Midhun Manuel Thomas, the director of the popular Aadu franchise, is scripting this movie. Talks within the industry suggest that the movie has Dulquer in a college professor’s role. If it is indeed true, this is his first attempt in playing such a role and it will be interesting to see how he pulls it off.

Of late, Dulquer has been doing a lot of different characters with aplomb and his college professor 3 act is something exciting to look forward to. More details regarding the movie is not yet known but we hear that it will go on floors most probably by the end of this year. Besides this, Dulquer has committed for two other movies in Malayalam – a comedy entertainer with the superhit writer duo of Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan, and ‘Sukumura Kurup’ with Srinath Rajendran.

Dulquer is currently busy with the final leg of shoot of his upcoming Tamil movie – ‘Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithaal’. He also has a romantic travelogue ‘Vaan’ with debutant Ra Karthik coming up in Tamil. His maiden Hindi film, ‘Karwaan’ is gearing up for release by the first week of August. The actor has also been signed to play the lead along with Sonam Kapoor in the big screen adaptation of best selling novel, ‘The Zoya Factor’.

Mammootty and Suhasini to come together once again!!

Mammootty and Suhasini were one of the most favourite pairs of Mollywood during the late 80s and 90s. They have acted together in a number of films like Koodevide, Katha Ithuvere, Ente Upasana, Rakkuyilin Ragasadassil, Pranam etc. After a long gap, they both are coming together once again in the YSR biopic, Yatra. While Mammootty plays the late CM’s role, Suhasini has been cast in a very crucial role. However, they both are not playing a pair in the movie.

Mahi Raghav, who has made movies like ‘Paathshala’ and ‘Anando Brahma’, is directing Yatra. Shoot for the movie commenced earlier this week in Hyderabad. They have planned to shoot the movie in multiple schedules and wrap it up by September. The movie is slated for a Sankaranti release, next January.

Yatra has been planned as one of the biggest movies in Telugu cinema in recent years. YS Rajashekhara Reddy, popularly called as YSR, is one of the most popular and revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. Upon hearing his unfortunate death in a helicopter crash, hundreds of his followers are said to have committed suicide.

According to director Mahi Raghav, Yatra is an event based film which primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003. The 1500 kilometer long padayatra was a defining moment in his career which transformed him into a people’s leader.

Yatra’s technical crew includes cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan of ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ fame and composer K. The movie is being produced jointly by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi under the banner of 70MM Entertainments.

As informed by us last day, the official trailer of Tovino Thomas starrer Theevandi has been released through Mammootty’s social media handle. The movie marks the directorial debut of Fellini TP. Vini Viswa Lal has scripted this movie as a political satire. August Cinema, one of the leading banners in Malayalam film industry, is bankrolling Theevandi.

From the trailer, we get to know that Tovino plays Bineesh Damodaran, who is a chain smoker. Samyukhtha Menon, who essays the role of Devi, a government employee, is paired with him. Earlier, a romantic song, ‘Jeevamshamayi’, featuring the lead pair was released by the makers and it went on to become a sensational hit. The song video recently clocked a staggering one crore views in YouTube. The track becoming such a big hit has helped in publicizing the movie among the general audience.

Official trailer of the movie will be released tomorrow (June 23) morning at 10 AM by megastar Mammootty through his official social media handle. The movie marks the directorial debut of TP Fellini. August Cinema, one of the leading banners in Malayalam film industry, is funding this movie.

Vini Viswa Lal has scripted Theevandi as a political satire. Tovino plays the role of a lazy unemployed youngster named Bineesh Damodaran. From the title and promos, we can make out that Bineesh is a chain smoker. Samyukhtha Menon, who essays the role of Devi, a government employee, is paired with Tovino.

Joju George is one of the most talented supporting actors we have in Malayalam cinema today. Of late, the actor has been doing many performance-oriented roles like the chauvinistic Elvis in Ramante Edanthottam, the quirky school teacher in Udhaharanam Sujatha and the grey-shaded SI Kunjipalu in Njan Marykutty. Joju is now playing the lead in director M Padmakumar’s upcoming movie titled as Joseph. The movie’s first look poster was released by Mammootty through his social media handle.

Shahi Kabir is scripting this movie which has Joju playing the titular role of a retired police officer. The movie comes with an intriguing tagline – ‘Man with the scar’. From the tagline, we presume that the movie deals with some dark chapters in a police man’s life. Shoot for the movie recently commenced in Thodupuzha.

Soubin Shahir, Dileesh Pothan, Irshad, Anil Murali, Sadiq, Zinil Zainudeen, Malavika Menon, Manu Raj and Athmiya are part of the movie’s supporting cast. Manesh Madhavan, who won the Kerala State award last year for his work in Aeden, is cranking the camera while Kiran Das of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame handes the edits.
