Mangalyam Thanthunanena will be a fun family entertainer: Director Sou Sadhanandan

The shoot for Kunchacko Boban’s upcoming movie Mangalyam Thanthunanena has been completed. Anchor-turned-filmmaker Soumya Sadanandan is making her directorial debut with this movie. Nimisha Sajayan of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame is paired with Kunchacko Boban. The team shot for 37 days before wrapping up recently.

Soumya Sadanandan has promised that the movie will be a young fun family entertainer that will not disappoint the audience. Soumya has proved her mettle as a filmmaker with a couple of award winning documentaries and short films. Her documentary Chembai: My Discovery of a Legend, won National level recognition with a Special Mention for a Non-Feature Film in 2016.

Her debut movie Mangalya Thanthunanena has Kunchako Boban and Nimisha playing a newly married couple. Tony Madathil has scripted this movie. Salim Kumar, Alencier Ley Lopez, Vijayaraghavan, Shanthi Krishna, Hareesh Kanaran and Chembil Ashokan are also part of the cast.

Ace cinematographer Aravind Krishna has cranked the camera and songs are composed is by Sayanora Philip, Asim Roshan, S Sankars and Revaa. Bijibal is handling the background score. Dr Zachariah Thomas, Alwin Antony, Prince Paul and Angelena Mary Antony are jointly funding this movie under the banner of United Global Media Entertainment.

‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan as Mohanlal’s daughter in Lucifer?

Actor Prithviraj’s directorial debut Lucifer starring Mohanlal in the lead is all set to go on floors next month. Murali Gopy is scripting this movie and is funded by Antony under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers are currently busy with the pre-production works which includes casting and location scouting.

According to latest reports, Saniya Iyappan of ‘Queen’ fame has been roped in to play an important role in Lucifer. As per these reports, she will be playing the role of Mohanlal’s daughter in the movie. Manju Warrier and Tovino Thomas are also said to be part of the cast. However, the makers are yet to officially announce the movie’s cast.

Lucifer is a hugely anticipated movie, naturally because of the big names involved in it. The fact that two of Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars – Mohanlal and Prithviraj – are teaming up for the first time itself triggers massive expectations for Lucifer. Reportedly, the movie will be a complete mass masala entertainer aimed at the fans.

Prithviraj had earlier hinted that Lucifer, like all Murali Gopy scripts, will be an intense film that demands strong performances from the actors. In the technical crew, Sujith Vaassudev will be cranking the camera and Deepak Dev will be handling the music department.

Prithviraj is currently shooting for his sci-fi movie 9, which also marks his maiden production venture. Mohanlal meanwhile is busy with stage shows in Australia after which he will be wrapping up his remaining portions for Ranjith’s movie. Reportedly, Lucifer’s shoot will be commencing by the first week of July in Kochi. Trivandrum and Mumbai are said to be the other major locations.

Most actors these days venture into different avenues of film making once they establish themselves in the industry. While some are into film making, some try their hand in the business side by starting their own production company. Almost all the top actors and directors in Malayalam cinema own a banner. Actor Sunny Wayne is the latest to join the bandwagon. But what makes Sunny standout is that he has started a production company for funding stage plays.

The first screening of his maiden venture, ‘Moment Just Before Death’ was held on June 10 at Kochi. The who’s who of Malayalam film industry was present for the screening. Actors like Mammootty, Lal, KPAC Lalitha, Tovino Thomas, Siddique, Balu Varghese, Rima Kallingal, Neeraj Madhav, Leona Lishoy, Krishna Prabha, Sarayu, Ashokan, P Balachandran and many others were present. Filmmakers like Midhun Manuel Thomas, Aashiq Abu and Lal Jose also attended the screening.

Before the Death is directed by Liju Krishna. Bijibal is handling the music department. Sunny Wayne and his team is aiming to create a platform for artists and technicians to come closer and work together along with the audience.

As we had reported earlier, Soubin Shahir is playing the lead in ‘Guppy’ fame John Paul George’s next. The movie titled as ‘Ambili’ also stars Nazriya Nazim’s younger brother Naveen Nazim and newcomer Tanvi Ram in major roles. Shoot for the movie kick-started today with a customary switch on and pooja ceremony. Soubin, Tovino, Master Chethan and other crew members of the movie were present for the occasion.

As per reports, Ambili is a road drama that has Soubin playing the titular role. Tanvi is paired opposite him while Naveen plays a travel junkie. Soubin, who is fresh from the success of Sudani From Nigeria, has a challenging role to play in this movie.

Ambili has been planned to be shot in various states across the country. Saran Velayudhan, a noted cinematographer in the ad film industry, will be cranking the camera for this movie. Vishnu Vijay, who won the Kerala State award for background music for his work in Guppy, has been retained for Ambili. Kiran Das of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame will be handling the edits.

Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathy are jointly producing Ambili under the banner of E4 Entertainment. Interestingly, Guppy was also produced by the same banner. Ambili is expected to hit screens by the end of this year.

As informed earlier by the makers, the teaser of Mammootty’s upcoming movie Abrahaminte Santhathikal was released last day. Just like the earlier released trailer, this new teaser does not give anything about the movie’s plot, instead it invokes a lot of curiosity. Extremely stylish visuals accompanied by Gopi Sunder’s massy background score gives high expectations about the movie.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal directed by Shaji Padoor has Mammootty playing the role of police assistant superintendent Derick Abraham. The megastar’s stylish makeover for the movie has already excited the fans. Haneef Adeni, the director of ‘The Great Father’ has scripted this movie. From the promos, Abrahaminte Santhathikal also promises to be a stylish thriller on the lines of ‘The Great Father’.

Anson Paul, Kaniha, Siddique, Renji Panicker, Tarushi, Shyamaprasad, Maqbool Salman, Sohan Seenulal, Suresh Krishna, Kalabhavan Shajon and Yog Japee are part of the movie’s supporting cast. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Alby Antony, composer Gopi Sunder and editor Mahesh Narayanan, who turned a director last year with the widely acclaimed ‘Take Off’.

Joby George is producing the movie under the banner of Goodwill Entertainment. The movie has censored with a U/A certificate and is all storm screens from June 16.

Anjali Menon’s Koode is the remake of an acclaimed Marathi movie!

Anjali Menon is making a comeback after four years with ‘Koode’ starring Prithviraj, Nazriya and Parvthy in the lead roles. Title and first look poster of the movie was officially unveiled last day in social medias. M Renjith’s Rejaputhra Visual Media is producing this movie in association with Little Films India.

As per trustworthy reports, Koode is the official remake of acclaimed Marathi movie Happy Journey. Anjali Menon had bought the remake rights few years back and has reportedly reworked on the script to suit the sensibilities of the Malayali audience. According to her, Koode is a heartwarming tale of relationships.

Prithviraj and Nazriya play siblings in this movie, while Parvathy is paired with the former. This is their third outing together after Ennu Ninte Moideen and the yet-to-be released My Story. The movie also stars director Ranjith, Atul Kulkarni, Roshan Mathew, Sidharth Menon and Maala Parvathy in supporting roles. Koode has songs composed by M Jayachandran and Rahul Dixit. Littil Swayamp, noted for his splendid work in Parava, is the DOP and Praveen Prabhakar handles the edits.

Anjali Menon is a proven filmmaker and with such a great star cast, expectations are naturally high for Koode. Recently, the movie’s satellite rights was bagged for a whopping Rs 4.20 crores by Asianet. The makers have announced that the movie will be hitting screens on July 6.

Last day, the eagerly awaited trailer of Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 was released in social medias. While Aamir Khan released the Hindi version of the trailer, Jr NTR and Shruti Haasan released the Telugu and Tamil versions via their respective social media handles. The Vishwaroopam series, written and directed by Kamal Haasan features him in the lead role of a hotshot RAW agent.

From the trailer, Vishwaroopam 2 is looks like a prequel that unfolds the events that occurred during Wisam’s stint as a spy with the terrorists in Afghanistan. The trailer loaded with some high voltage action moments is getting great response in social medias. Though the VFX shots look tacky, reports suggest that the post-production works are still underway.

The first part, Vishwaroopam, released in 2014, was a huge success both critically and commercially. Though the film faced several hurdles prior to it’s release, it emerged as a big blockbuster doing a lifetime business of over 100 crores. The second part is also expected to repeat the same success. The movie was shelved for a long time before Kamal Haasan’s own production house Raajkamal Films International took over the project.

Vishwaroopam 2’s cast also includes Bollywood actor Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Waheeda Rahma and Shekhar Kapur. All of them will be reprising their roles from the first part. The technical team comprises of cinematographers Shamdat Sainudeen, Sanu Varghese and editor Mahesh Narayanan. Ghibran handles the music department.

The makers have officially announced that the movie will be releasing worldwide on August 10.

Joju George is an actor loved unanimously by the Malayali audience. Of late, Joju has been grabbing some solid roles like the chauvinistic Elvis in Ramante Edanthottam, the quirky school teacher in Udhaharanam Sujatha and the police officer in Kaly. He has now signed a new movie with director M Padmakumar. The movie titled as Joseph has Joju playing the lead role of retired police officer Joseph.

Shahi Kabir has scripted the movie, the title of which comes with the tagline ‘Man with the scar’. From the title, we presume that the movie deals with the dark chapters in a police officer’s life. The movie’s switch on and customary pooja ceremony will be held on June 11 at Thodupuzha.

Ever since he made an highly impressive debut last year with Angamaly Diaries, Sarath Kumar has been getting a lot of solid offers. Besides a handful of projects in Malayalam, he has also committed for a couple of Tamil movies which includes the legendary Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.

Appani Sarath is also playing the lead in a Tamil movie titled Nellu. Debutant Shibu Shekar is directing this movie. A few location stills of the movie was shared by Sarath in his official social media handle and the actor looks all rugged and rustic. His character looks instantly remind of Appani Ravi, the role he played in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Anagmaly Diaries.

According to Sarath, his role in Nellu is a challenging one that has a lot of scope for performance. The movie is produced by Seven Arts Mohan and Kanmani Raja is scripting this movie. Shoot for the movie is nearing completion and is expected to hit screens by the end of this year.

Sarath Kumar is also playing one of the villains in Vishal’s Sandakozhi 2. In Malayalam he has debutant Sudeep’s Contessa gearing up for release. He has also signed for ‘Kismath’ fame Shanavas K Bavakkutty’s next.
