Vishwaroopam 2 will be on par with Hollywood films: Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan is someone known for striving to be unique in all his films. Most of his works have been far ahead of its time, some for the themes and some for the high end technological aspects that he brings in. His 2013 spy-thriller Vishwaroopam was no different. The project conceived as a two-part installment has Haasan playing a RAW agent who works in disguise with the Afghan terrorists. While the first part was a huge success, the second part (more of a prequel), Vishwaroopam 2, is gearing up to hit screens.

Kamal Haasan sounded very confident about Vishwaroopam 2 in a recent interview. According to him, V2 is not only a sequel, but also an action packed prequel. He assured that the film will be on par with any Hollywood film. The movie’s recently released trailer met with great response from viewers in social medias. The trailer is loaded with some high voltage action moments. Though the VFX shots look tacky, reports suggest that the movie’s post-production works are still underway.

Though Vishwaroopam faced several hurdles prior to its release, it emerged as a big blockbuster doing a lifetime business of over 100 crores. The second part is also expected to repeat the same success. The movie was unfortunately shelved for a long time before Kamal Haasan’s own production house Raajkamal Films International took over the project.

Vishwaroopam 2’s cast also includes Bollywood actor Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Waheeda Rahma and Shekhar Kapur. The technical team comprises of cinematographers Shamdat Sainudeen, Sanu Varghese and editor Mahesh Narayanan. Ghibran handles the music department. The makers have officially announced that the movie will be releasing worldwide on August 10.

As we had reported earlier, Mohanlal has been shooting for his upcoming movie with Ranjith for the past one month. Most of the portions have already been shot in UK and is expected to hit screens this coming Onam. Mohanlal through his social media handle has informed that the movie’s title will be revealed tomorrow (June 15) at 10 AM.

This upcoming movie is hastily planned project. Ranjith’s initial plan was to direct a romantic flick titled Bilathikadha. Maniyanpilla Raju’s son Niranj and Anu Sithara were supposed to play lead roles in the movie with an extended cameo by Mohanlal. But due to some unknown reasons, the project got dropped and Ranjith worked on a new script with Mohanlal as the lead. The actor managed to squeeze in 30 days from his busy schedule for the movie.

Arundhathi Nag, Siddique, Subi Suresh, Shalin Zoya, Tini Tom, Baiju and Mythili are part of this upcoming movie’s supporting cast. Veteran Azhagappan is the cinematographer. Maha Subair is producing it under the banner of Varnachithra Good line productions.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest release Kaala continues to do good business at all the release centres. The movie directed by Pa Ranjith has Rajinikanth playing a messiah-like figure of the Tamil community living in Dharavi. While Kaala is going strong at the box office, the superstar is busy shooting for his upcoming movie with Karthik Subbaraj in Dehradun. The movie produced by Sun Pictures also stars Vijay Sethupathi in a major role.

Rajinikanth is known to be very choosy as he is used to sign a movie only every three years. But things have changed of late as the star has shown interest in doing more films now. Latest buzz is that he has committed for his next after the ongoing Karthik Subbaraj film. If reports are to be believed, ace filmmaker AR Murugadoss will be directing this movie.

Murugadoss, who is currently busy with the shoot of Thalapathy 62, had recently met Rajinikanth and locked a script that they discussed long time back. ARM is known for coming up with perfectly entertaining commercial flicks that appeals well to the common audience. He has often expressed his wish to work with the superstar and if things fall in place, we can expect an official announcement about a Murugadoss-Rajinikanth project very soon.

AR Murugadoss’ upcoming movie with Vijay is unarguably one of the most anticipated in Tamil cinema this year. This is the actor-director duo’s third outing together after the blockbuster successes of Thupakki and Kaththi. The movie, titled Thalapathy 62, has Keerthy Suresh playing the female lead. Sun Pictures is making their comeback to production by this project which is scheduled for a Diwali release. Murugadoss will reportedly start working for his film with Rajinikanth only after the release of Thalapathy 62.

As we had reported earlier, Ajith is busy shooting in Hyderabad for his upcoming movie, Viswasam. Siva is directing this movie which has Nayanthara as the female lead. Viswasam is touted to be a rural based mass entertainer. Latest buzz is that Ajith is playing a dual role as brothers in the movie. If these reports are to believed, this is the third time the actor is playing such a dual role after Vaali and Villain.

Recently, a popular Tamil magazine released a few stills of Ajith’s new look that he has been sporting for Viswasam. While most of his recent films had him sporting the same salt and pepper look, in Viswasam he looks dashingly young with a fit physique and closely trimmed stubble. Reportedly, actor will be appearing in two different shades of looks in the movie. Meanwhile his fans are eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of his new look.

Viswasam is Ajith’s fourth film with director Siva after working with him in Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. While the former two were regular mass entertainers, Vivegam was an ambitious attempt in making a spy-thriller. The movie was made on a lavish budget with a big star cast but failed to impress the critics. Ajith and Siva will be hoping to comeback to winning ways with Viswasam.

Viswasam also stars Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu, Thambi Ramiah and Bose Venkat as part of the supporting cast. The movie’s technical crew includes cinematographer Vetri, composer D Imman and editor Ruben. Sathya Jyothi Films, who funded Ajith-Siva duo’s last film Vivegam, is producing this upcoming venture as well.

Anjali Menon’s comeback movie Koode is eagerly awaited by the Malayali audience. The movie starring Prithviraj, Nazriya Nazim and Parvathy in the lead roles is gearing up for release. The makers have released the first song video from Koode in social medias. Nazriya alone features in this beautiful song rendered by Anne Amie Vazhappilly. Raghu Dixit has composed the song for which lyrics are penned by Rafeeq Ahammed.

Nazriya, like Anjali Menon, is also making a comeback after a four year long gap. She has been a break ever since she got married to her Bangalore Days co-star Fahadh Faasil. Nazriya’s comeback is one of the major attractions of Koode. She is playing the role of Prithviraj’s sister in the movie.

As per trustworthy reports, Koode is the official remake of acclaimed Marathi flick, Happy Journey. Anjali Menon had bought the remake rights few years back and has reportedly reworked on the script to suit the sensibilities of the Malayali audience. According to her, the movie is a heartwarming tale of relationships.

Koode also stars director Ranjith, Atul Kulkarni, Roshan Mathew, Sidharth Menon and Maala Parvathy in supporting roles. M Jayachandran and Rahul Dixit have composed the songs. Littil Swayamp, noted for his splendid work in Parava, is the DOP and Praveen Prabhakar handles the edits.

M Renjith’s Rejaputhra Visual Media is producing this movie in association with Little Films India. The makers have announced that the movie will be hitting screens on July 6.

Neeraj Madhav is one of the most promising among the younger generation of Malayali actors. After making his debut in 2013 as a side actor, Neeraj established himself with some impressive performances in movies like Apothecary, Homely Meals, Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, Oru Vadakkan Selfie etc. Besides his acting, Neeraj is also well known for his excellent dancing skills, something which makes him stand apart from his contemporaries.

Last year was an eventful one for Neeraj. His performance as the left-wing supporting college student in Oru Mexican Apratha earned him praise from the audience. He followed it up with Lava Kusha, which marked his debut as a scriptwriter. His matured performance as a lead actor in the movie Paipin Chuvattile Pranayam also won him appreciation. After making rapid strides in his home ground, Neeraj is now all set to debut in B-Town.

According to latest reports, Neeraj Madhav is making his debut in Bollywood with a web series titled The Family Man. This action-drama series by Amazon Prime Video will be helmed and produced by director duo Raj & DK. The series also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Priyamani and Kishore in major roles. It will be released next year in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Leading Bollywood actors like Madhavan, Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui have all been part of various web series. But Neeraj Madhav is probably the first Malayalam actor to be roped in for a web series, which is indeed a big feat for the youngster. In Malayalam, Neeraj is also playing a crucial role in Mammootty’s period flick Mamankam.

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to stun the Indian audience with his dwarf avatar in the upcoming movie Zero. A new teaser of the movie was released by the makers today. Salman Khan also features in this teaser which has been released as an Eid treat for fans of both the superstars. Anand L Rai is directing Zero, an ambitious project which has been in the making for over an year now.

Shah Rukh Khan has claimed that Zero will not just be the most technically advanced film in India but in the whole world. The promos so far have justified his statement. The movie involves a lot of VFX works and hence pre-production works were started way back in 2015. From the teaser itself, it is evident that the makers have put in their best of efforts to bring out something unseen in Indian cinema.

Zero stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma as the female leads. The latter is reportedly playing the role of a mentally challenged girl. This is SRK and Anushka’s fourth film together after sharing screen space in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Jab Harry Met Sejal. SRK, Anushka Sharma and Katrina have also acted together in Yash Chopra’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Just like Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo appearance in Salman Khan’s Tubelight last year, Salman is also doing a special cameo role in Zero.

Zero is said to be a fun filled entertainer with an emotional element as its core. Anand L Rai has previously directed widely acclaimed movies like Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu: Returns. Zero is being produced by SRK’s own banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The movie is slated to hit screens worldwide on December 21.

Mammootty’s period flick Mamankam is shaping up really well with some big names associated with it. The makers have been roping in some of the best available technicians. Latest to join the team is editor Sreekar Prasad. An eight-time National award winner, Sreekar Prasad has worked in several big projects in almost all major Indian languages. The veteran’s experience and finesse will certainly come in handy for Mamankam.

Sajeev Pillai, a former associate of Adoor Gopalakrishnan, is directing Mamankam. Its technical crew includes renowned cinematographer Ganesh Rajavelu a.k.a Jim Ganesh, action choreographer Kaecha Khamphakdee, music director M Jayachandran and VFX supervisor Kamala Kannan. Venu Kunnampilly of Kavya Films is producing this ambitious project.

Sajeev Pillai has scripted the movie after doing research works for nearly twelve years. The movie is based on the medieval fair, Mamankam, where brave warriors from across the country would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays a ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Two schedules of the movie have already been wrapped up and the team is currently on a break. As per reports, the third schedule will be commencing only by August after Mammootty is free from his other commitments. The movie has a huge star cast with several non-Malayali actors part of it. An official announcement of the star cast is yet to be made by the makers.

National award winning director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is making a comeback eight years after he made his debut with the cult-hit Aaranya Kaandam. His comeback movie titled as ‘Super Deluxe’ has Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Samantha, Mysskin and Ramya Krishnan playing the lead roles. Shoot for the movie was wrapped up last day.

Fahadh Faasil, Samantha, director Thiagarajan Kumararaja and other crew members celebrated the wrap up with a cake cutting. Super Deluxe is one of the most awaited Tamil movies of the year. It is reportedly an anthology of different short films. Vijay Sethupathi is playing the role of a transgender in one while another features actress Ramya Krishnan as the central character. Fahadh Faasil and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are playing the protagonists in another segment.

Super Deluxe has been in the making for over an year now. The makers have remained tight lipped about the project all this while. Fahadh is said to be playing an urban character and he has not undergone any major makeover for the film. The actor is also expected to dub for his portions in Tamil.

Expectations are huge for Super Deluxe since it has some of the finest talents of South Indian cinema working in it. Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s debut movie Aaranya Kaandam enjoys a cult status and is widely rated as one of Indian cinema’s finest movies in recent years.

Directors Mysskin and Nalan Kumarasamy are penning the dialogues in Super Deluxe. PS Vinod, noted for his work in several Bollywood movies, is the DOP and Yuvan Shankar Raja handles the music department. An official word regarding the release date is expected to be made very soon.
