Official: Salman Khan to play the lead in Race 3!

Race is a one of the most popular franchises in Bollywood. The series started in 2008 with Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy in major roles. The second installment was released in 2013 with only Anil Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan being retained.

Race 2 also featured John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Ameesha Patel and Aditya Pancholi. Both the movies were hugely successful and is one of the highest grossing film series in India.

For the last few months there have been several speculations about the lead actors in the franchise’s third segment. According to latest trustworthy reports, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been signed to play the lead role in Race 3. Jacqueline Fernandez has been roped in to be pair opposite Salman in the movie. The duo have previously acted together in the 2014 superhit movie Kick.

While the first two movies were directed by Abbas-Mustan, the upcoming movie will be directed by choreographer-turned-filmmaker Remo D’Souza. Producer of Ramesh Taurani of Tips Music Films has confirmed that Salman and Jacqueline will be a part of the first schedule and they are yet to cast other actors in the movie.

The makers are planning to begin shooting for the movie from October this year, and the preparations for the sets are already underway in Mumbai. After that there will be a long international schedule as the story is set abroad. Reports suggest that the third segement will be completely different instead of taking off from the previous two films.

Magic portions in Vijay’s Mersal will be astonishing, says a renowned magician

Thalapathy Vijay’s Mersal is gearing up to hit screens this coming Diwali season in October. This Atlee directorial is one of the most anticipated films of this season as the actor-director duo are teaming up after the blockbuster movie Theri. Vijay is reportedly playing a triple role in Mersal, which is a first in his two decade long career.

The actor will be seen in three different roles – one as a villager in the 80s and the other two as a magician and a doctor. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menon play the three female leads in the movie.

For his role of a magician, Vijay was trained by three renowned experts including Gogo Requeim, a popular
Macedonian magician.

“Joseph Vijay. One of the most popular actors from India/Tamil. I had a huge honour to work with him in May 2017 on his new upcoming movie,” Gogo tweeted on Tuesday.

In a recent Twitter interaction with fans, Gogo said,

“We made pure art and people in India and all around the world will enjoy it.”

When quizzed by a fan on how the magic portion has come out in the film, he said,

“Can’t tell too much. Believe me, the magic portion will astonish you.”

When asked about his experience working with Vijay, Gogo said,

“Incredible person, he performed everything so fast so I couldn’t believe that he does not have experience in the art of magic.”

Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan have helmed Mersal’s screenwriting. Oscar award winner AR Rahman is composing the music for this movie. This big budget movie is funded by Sri Thenandal Films.

Ajith’s Vivegam continues to do tremendous business even amidst all the mixed reviews. The movie, directed by Siva was released in around 3000 screens worldwide on August 24. Vivegam opened to mixed reviews from the critics but all that has not had any impact on the movie’s box office collections.

According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the film has grossed Rs 69 crore in India and Rs 36.50 crore worldwide, thus joining the elite 100 crore club. The film has earned a whooping Rs 48.50 crore in Tamil Nadu box office from its first four days of theatrical run. Earlier, on the opening day, the movie had grossed Rs 33.08 crore and Rs 20 crore on the second day.

Vijay-Atlee team’s much awaited Mersal is in the final stages of post production and is getting ready for a grand Diwali release this October. AR Rahman has composed the movie’s songs and all four of them have been received well by the listeners.

The lyric video of the songs ‘Neethane’ and ‘Mersal Arasn’ has been released now by the makers. Both the songs are in contrasting style as one is a soulful romantic track and the other is a local dance number.

‘Neethane’ is sung soulfully by AR Rahman and Shreya Ghoshal while ‘Mersal Arasn’ is rendered by Deepak, G V Prakash Kumar, Naresh Iyer and Sharanya Srinivas. Noted lyricist Vivek has penned all the songs in Mersal.

This Vijay starrer is one of the most awaited Tamil movies of the year. Expectations are sky high as Vijay is teaming up with director Atlee once again after the blockbuster success of Theri. The movie has a stellar star cast that includes three female leads in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menen.

Mersal is the 100th film to be funded under the prestigious banner of Sri Thenandal Films.

Mohanlal’s Velipadinte Pusthakam, directed by Lal Jose is all set to hit screens this Friday as a grand Onam release. The makers have released the movie’s official teaser today evening. The teaser shows glimpses the college portions in which Mohanlal portrays the role of vice principal Michael Idicula.

Velipadinte Pusthakam is written by Benny P Nayarambalam. Mohanlal appears in two different looks in the film- one as a college professor and the other as a local goon hailing from a coastal area. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is playing the female lead.

Fahadh Faasil and Jayam Ravi to release teaser of Tovino’s upcoming bilingual

Promising young actor Tovino Thomas’ bilingual movie Abi and Anu is gearing up to hit screens this September. The Tamil version has been titled as Abhiyum Anuvum and Malayalam as Abhiyude Kadha Anuvinteyum. Noted woman cinematographer BR Vijayalakshmi is directing this movie.

Vikram Mehra and BR Vijayalakshmi are jointly funding this movie under the banner of Yoodlee Films. Ace cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan is serving as an executive producer. The makers are promoting the movie extensively through some renowned celebrities.

The movie’s official teaser will be released tomorrow afternoon by popular actors Fahadh Faasil and Jayam Ravi. Earlier, the movie’s title and first look posters were unveiled by ace filmmakers AR Murugadoss and Gautham Vasudev Menon respectively.

Fahadh Faasil will be releasing the Malayalam teaser while Jayam Ravi will unveil the Tamil version’s teaser. This upcoming movie is a romantic film based on a real life incident that occured in Latin America. Udayabanu Maheshwaran has penned the story and screenplay for this movie. Tovino Thomas and Pia Bajpai are playing the lead roles in this romantic entertainer.

Shoot for the movie has already been completed and it was shot extensively in various parts of Kerala and Chennai. Veteran actors Prabhu, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Rohini will be seen in prominent roles. Dharan has handled the music department and Agilan has cranked the camera. The movie is slated to hit screens on September 22.

Earlier in an interview, actress Trisha had said that 96 will be a beautiful romantic film like Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya. The movie is being shot in picturesque locations in Spiti Valley, Rajasthan, and Kolkata. Veteran actor Janakaraj, Vinothini and Kaali Venkat are also playing prominent roles in the movie.

Kamuki’s director is noted for his debut movie Ithihasa. The movie which belongs to a fantasy- fun entertainer category had Shine Tom Chacko, Balu Varghese and Anusree in the lead roles. Upon release, the movie garnered positive reviews and emerged as a sleeper hit. His second film Style starring Unni Mukundan and Tovino Thomas in the lead failed to click in the box office.

The director will be hoping to get back to winning ways with Kamuki. He is also jointly producing this movie with Unmesh Unnikrishnan under the banner of Ithihasa Movies. Shoot for Kamuki commenced last day in Aluva and is expected to be wrapped up in a single schedule.

Good news for all Sethurama Iyer fans!

CBI series is a one of the very few famous franchises in Mollywood. Megastar Mammootty plays the role of CBI officer Sethurama Iyer who solves all his cases using the brain over brawn method. Four installments of the series have already released and reports about a fifth part has been doing the rounds for nearly three years now.

However, the latest we hear is that the much awaited fifth segment in the CBI franchise will go on floors next year. Director K Madhu had earlier confirmed that scripting is progressing and that the project is definitely on.

All four movies in the series- Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Jagratha, Sethurama Iyer CBI and Nerariyan CBI were scripted by noted scenarist SN Swamy and directed by K Madhu. The series started off in 1988 with the blockbuster movie Oru CBI Diary Kurippu. Next year, the second part Jagratha was released, which failed to click in the box office.

Exactly 15 years later in 2004, the trio of Mammootty-SN Swami-K Madhu teamed up for the third installment, Sethurama Iyer CBI. The movie emerged as one of the biggest hits of that year. An year later, they joined hands once again for the fourth part Nerariyan CBI.

Certain unconfirmed reports suggest that unlike the earlier films, the fifth part will be set outside Kerala in Delhi and Hyderabad. If these reports are to be believed, this is the first time the CBI team is moving out of the State for an investigation. When the CBI team reunites, Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar will not be a part of it.

Scriptwriter turned actor Renji Panicker, who has now become an indispensable part of Malayalam movies these days, is said to be playing a prominent role in this movie. Just like the other four parts, there will be no heroine or romantic track in this upcoming movie also. There is no scope for romance, songs or a parallel humour track in the CBI series. These are some of the major reasons why the franchise enjoys such a cult following.

This is indeed a great news for both the CBI series as well as Mammootty fans. Malayali audience are already excited to watch Sethurama Iyer back on big screen once again with that iconic background score.
