B Unnikrishnan’s reaction to Anwar Rasheed’s decision to resign

Today Mollywood was shaken a bit by the words of film maker and producer Anwar Rasheed who said to an interview to online page named South Live that he is going to quit from all Malayalam cinema associations in which he is part of. He is resigning from all associations because of their unsupportive attitude in the issue of Premam’s pirated print spreading. Anwar is a member of director’s association called FEFKA, producers association and also distributors association as well. Anwar Rasheed says when this issue rose up there no one from these organization came up for help and even the law enforcements of the state like police, Anti- piracy cell and also cyber cell were quite inactive in this case.

To this allegations from Anwar Rasheed B Unnikrishnan who is the general secretary of FEFKA association gave a sensible and relevant reply as well. B Unnikrishnan said that when the issue come up he had called Anwar Rasheed and enquired about the scenario. Later after Anwar Rasheed had given the complaint to the cyber crime division in Trivandrum B Unnikrishnan had called D G P Sen Kumar and made him understand the seriousness of the scenario.

As per the instruction of B Unnikrishnan Anwar Rasheed had gave complaint to the D G P as well. The next day B Unnikishnan went to the house of our honorable home minister Ramesh Chennithala and talked to him about this problem and home minister had ordered the cyber cell to make the investigation very tight in this case. Home Minister called Anwar Rasheed on the same day and give him the assurance that action will be taken against those who did this.

The next day the producers association members lead by Suresh Kumar went to see the cyber cell chief and explained to him about the seriousness of this issue as well. As per some links and face book profiles forwarded by Anwar B Unnikrishnan himself with help of police caught some students by hand while using the pirated print but later let them go as Anwar Rasheed and B Unnikrishnan himself feel that it was not right to send some students to prison. But to find out the source is not an easy task as cyber investigation will take a lot of time. Still many raids have been conducted at Malappuram district and many people are in custody as well.

B Unnikrishnan said that the allegation against cinema association like it did not helped Anwar Rasheed in this issue was a baseless one and even if Anwar resigns from the associations, all of them will be there for Anwar in this piracy case and they will take every action possible to kill piracy.

That lucky ones are Anupama Parameshwaran who played the character of Mary, Sai Pallavi who played the character of Malar and Madonna Sebastian who played the character of Celine and this three characters are the heroines of three love stories in the life of George Played by Nivin Pauly the Hero.

And among these three Heroines the most celebrated one is Sai Pallavi whose character Malar and the craze for that character played a very instrumental part in the success of this movie. And we can say that arguably it was her character that made this movie such a big success rather the star power or performances of even the hero of the film Nivin Pauly and other artists.

But apart from Sai Pallavi there is another one who silently conquered the hearts of Malayali youngsters and now she is been celebrated in the social media as well. That is Madonna Sebastian who played Celine with whom Nivin Pauly’s character George ties knot at the end of the movie. It was very interesting to see the pattern. Before release Anupama Parameshwaran was celebrated, after release Sai Pallavi was celebrated and now when the film has completed almost 5 week, Madonna Sebastian is getting all the attention.

Anyway Madonna has already crossed the border of Kerala and now she is the heroine of Vijay Sethupathy in his latest film directed by Nalan Kumara Swamy. The actor-director pair had already given a super success before named Soodhum Kavum and their latest association is said to be a remake of a Korean film. This one will be a romantic thriller and Madonna will be seen romancing Vijay Sethupathy in this flick. In Premam she had done the role of a very sophisticated girl and in this tamil film she is playing a girl who came from a village to town searching a job.

Dulquer replaces Mammootty in Mani Ratnam film..?

Some days back we reported that mega star Mammootty is all set to join hands with master director Mani Ratnam again after the success of Thalapathy in which they worked together for the first and last time. It got released in the year of 1991 and Kollywood super star Rajinikanth was the lead in that film with Mammootty also played an important role. The report that came to us said that Mani Ratnam now working on the screenplay of that film and Mammootty also agreed to do the film. As per reports the film said to be planned to start in next year july. A R Rahman and P C sreeram also reportedly roped in for the project as music director and cinematographer respectively. This was the same team behinf Mani ratnam’s previous film OK Kanmani as well which was a welcome success for the director after some debacle at box office.

But now an unconfirmed reports coming from kollywood is that Mani Ratnam had replaced Mammootty with his son Dulquer Salmaan to play the lead in that film. Report says that Mani Ratnam thinks that Dulquer Salmaan is more safer than Mammootty in Box office and he is more among youngsters than his father. The thing that made him to feel like this way was the success of OK Kanmani starring Dulquer which really went beyond the level they expected.

Mani Ratnam was so impressed with the performance and behaviour of Dulquer Salmaan and he had said that in public as well while addressing the media before the premiere of OK Kanmani Mani Ratnam had said in that press meet that Dulquer is brilliant and in many respects better than Mammootty as well. That may be the reason of the reported replacement of Mammootty with his son Dulquer Salmaan.

This is just a report from some sources from Kollywood and there was no official confirmation about any of this news till now. The Mani Ratnam- Mammootty film news also was not confirmed by anyone and also this replacement news was also unofficial. Mani Ratnam said to be approached Aishwarya Rai to play the female lead in the above mentioned flick as well.

Anwar Rasheed now become a prominent figure in Malayalam film industry and he had contributed to Mollywood as a director, producer and distributor. He has produced 2 films till now and both of them become the biggest hits of Mollywood just placed below Mohanlal starrer Jeethu Joseph film Drishyam financed by Antony Perumbavoor. The two films he produced was Anjali Menon directorial Multi-starrer film Bangalore Days and now Premam conceived by Alphonse Puthren. Bangalore Days was produced by Anwar Rasheed in association with Weekend Blockbusters and Premam was financed by him alone under his banner named Anwar Rasheed Entertainments.

But now in an Interview to popular online media named South Live Anwar Rasheed said that he is going to resign from all cinema association in which he is a part of in the light of recent issue regarding the piracy of his film Premam. Anwar Rasheed said in the interview that even after complaining to the law enforcement organization such as Anti-Piracy cell of Kerala Government and also to the various association in the cinema field there has been not action taken yet. He said that everyone keeping silence about the issue as if they do not want to catch the criminal.

Anwar Rasheed said that he himself contacted Anti- Piracy cell and gave them details about some shops which sells the pirated prints of the film and still they did not take any action against it. Anwar said that it is difficult to track down the ones who uploaded it and that can be understood. But it is not a difficult task to find out and take action against those who sells the pirated prints in public through shops and street marketing. Still there is no action being taken against all those criminals. He said that he gave them the details about two studios in Chennai and Trivandrum which has the censor copy of the film and still they did not used any of that information to track down the source from which it had come out.

Anwar says that these associations of cinema does nothing for the betterment of our Malayalam film industry and completely useless in all the sense. He is going to do films independently without the support of any of these associations in the future and he also warned that turning a blind eye towards the issue of piracy will kill Malayalam Cinema Industry oneday.

Nivin Pauly to play the lead in Malayalam and Tamil remake of Kannada flick

Young star Nivin Pauly is going great guns after the consistent success he is getting at the box office and the recent one Premam has become the biggest hit in Mollywood after Drishyam and Bangalore Days in Mollywood. Throughout this summer this young man was in the news most of the time and the popularity of this actor had increased considerably as well. He is also become the committee member of AMMA, the association of Malayalam movie artist and it made him a really prominent figure in our industry. Recently he had won the film fare award for the best actor (critics) for the performance of him in the last year Abrid Shine directorial super success named 1983.

Now his every move becomes a source of news for Mollywood film lovers and there is another one for them just came in. According to reports Nivin Pauly is going to play the lead role in the Malayalam and Tamil version of a Kannada film named Ulidavaru Kandante which had won three film fare awards as well. The Kannada film which got financial and critical appreciation was directed by Rakshit Shetty and he will be credited with the title of writer in its Malayalam and Tamil version as well.


The Malayalam and Tamil version will be directed by Gautham Ramachandran. The kannada director Rakshit Shetty had got the best director Film fare award for this film. Ulidavaru Kandante is about a murder and the story focuses upon 5 characters and their view point on this murder. So it will be like the mixture of five stories related to a single incident. The film had taken its inspiration from the Akira Kurosava classic Rashomon and it had also screened in Cannes Film Festival.

The Kannada version is set in the backdrop of Mangaluru and the Janmashtami festival there and the Malayalam and Tamil version will be set in the backdrop of Kerala and Tamilnadu boarder and Mother Mary’s birth anniversary mostly. The pre-production is going on strongly and other details will be published very soon regarding other artists and release date etc.

An exclusive news is coming from the sources in Kollywood that Kollywood star Thala Ajith Kumar is going to be a director soon and he will start his career as a director with a short film. The rumorus started to doing its round in social media as well in Tamil film industry as Thala Ajith had conducted a photoshoot with Actor Sivabalan or Appukutty and the pictures from that photoshoot had come out as well.

Reports said that Ajith will be looking to do a short film and it will have Siva Balan in lead role. But to this rumour sources close to Thala Ajith had responded in a negative way as they denied all these news which is spreading from mouth to mouth and they explained that Ajith had no intention to do a short film now and the photoshoot was not about any short film as it was just a photoshoot by Ajith. Photography is a passion for Ajith along with his well-known craze for formula one racing and all that.

Rasool Pookutty is a name very popular all over India and he is a pride of each and every Malayaleese. He is one among those few artist and technicians who had won the most prestigious award in world cinema which is Oscar award. Rasool Pookkutty had won this prestigious award for sound mixing for the film named Slumdog Millionaire some years back along with A R Rahman who won it for music direction, and original score. Lyricist Gulzar also won the Oscar award for his lyrics for the same film. And they become the artists and technicians who won an Oscar after Bhanu Athaiya from India who had won this award many years ago for costume designing for the film named Gandhi directed by Richard Attenborough.

After that Rasool pookkutty had worked in a Malayalam film named Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja conceived by Hari Haran and scripted by M T Vasudevan Nair. He had also done the sound mixing of Salim ahammad film named Kunjananthante Kada and he is also working in the upcoming Salim Ahammd film named Pathemari. After the Oscar winning film Slumdog millionaire he worked in big films like Endhiran, Kochadiyan, Highway etc in Kollywood as well as in Bollywood.

The latest news about him says that Rasool Pookkutty is all set become a director and it will be produced by his own production company as well. The first venture of his will be in Bollywood and it will start filming in the coming 3 months. But Rasool says that he is looking forward to do films in regional languages as well and in Malayalam he will do a film with Mega star Mammootty in the lead. The name of his production company is Le Penta Productions and Rasool will do the sound design of the films which he produces and directs as he is all set to do that triple role.

The Ex-chief of reliance entertainments named Mahesh Ramanadh, Kumar Bhaskar, Kuldeep Singh Rathod, Gireesh Raghavan etc are the partners of Rasool Pookkuuty in this Le Penta Productions. As a malayali everyone hoping that this will turn out to be a great venture for the master technician from Kerala.
