Script by Siddique and direction by Lal, King Liar is coming

There has been a lots of news regarding the reunion of director Siddique and Lal for almost last two years. As directors Siddique-Lal Duo was the only director duo in Mollywood who have a 100% success rate. Siddique and Lal were jointly directed and scripted 6 films which include their debut film Ramji Rao Speaking, Godfather, Sequel of Ramji Rao Speaking named Mannar Mathayi Speaking (scripted only) by Mani C kappan, In Harihar Nagar, Vietnam Colony and Kabooli Walah and all were biggest hits of that time in Mollywood.

The flick Godfather starring Mukesh was one of the longest running movies in Kerala along with Chithram directed by Priyadarshan in the history of Mollywood. The duo broke up in 1993 and Siddique continued as a director and Lal turned to production and acting career in which both of them become highly successful. Siddique has directed two films named Friends and Hitler for Lal’s production house and both the films were super hits as their previous association as directors.

And Many years later Lal came back to direction with a sequel to their classic hit In Harihar Nagar ,which was titled as To Harihar Nagar which was successful. He also done its third part named In Ghost House Inn and a couple of other films such as Tournament and Cobra but except from In Ghost House Inn the other were box office failures. Siddique while done films like Chronic Bachelor with Mammootty, Body Guard with Dileep, Ladies And Gentleman with Mohanlal and the latest one is Bhaskar The Rascal with Mammootty again. Siddique also done many films in Tamil and also one in Hindi which was a record breaking hit in B-town.

Now the duo is coming together after a gap of 21 year with a new project titled King Liar in which popular actor Dileep will play the lead role. But this time there will be a difference and it is Siddique will write the script of this film and Lal will direct the film. They do not want to direct it together as it may result in a clash of their styles which they have developed independently. They do not want to resort to old methods as well. It will be the story of a master-liar whose character will be done by dileep and it will be Dileep’s first film with Lal as a director. Lal is directing and scripting a film for Mohanlal as well in the coming year.

Fans needs to be more sensible as burden of hopes can affect Loham

Yesterday Mollywood once again witnessed the impact of Mohanlal here in Kerala as the first look official poster of his upcoming film Loham directed by Ranjith has released. Just a first look poster of his film had washed away all those trends like Premam or Malar from the social media like Facebook and Whatsapp and the first look poster and the caption is going viral and trending everywhere. In Mollywood it is a well -known fact that there is no one even close to Mohanlal in creating impact on the audience here and the so called mass effect he creates here has only comparison and that is to Rajni kanth who creates this sort of frenzy in Kollywood.

But now-a-days this is affecting his films particularly and other films in general in a negative way. The fans of Mohanlal is so much crazy about him and they treats him like God or he had that demi-God status among film lovers in Kerala. They are giving unbelievable hype and out of the world online promotion to his every single film. Promotion is great for every films but sometimes the increasing rate of it can make the downfall of the film too. It has happened in the past as well as many much anticipated films failed to get going after the initial days of its release as the expectations about the flick goes sky high due to the frenzy and over-promotion by fans. Mohanlal films suffers the most in this case as he is the one who has more fans power than anyone in this industry both at the root levels from the society as well as in online and social media.

The hype affects every films and the recent example is the blockbuster hit Premam itself. The unwanted frenzy over the character Malar etc made it burdened with great expectation and from its 3rd or 4th week the reviews started to come in a negative way about the film. Fans are doing this out of their unconditional love for their hero. But sometimes it really affects their star as well. Ever kind of films needs a promotion strategy which that film needs.

Anything more and anything less will only help to create adverse effects than positive ones. Loham promotion is also starting to go high from now as the first look was went viral and this is the time fans have to check their emotions and keep their calm. Because its already great expectation about the film due to the team of Mohanlal and Raenjith which is a sure bet team at box office.

There is every chance of that expectation going beyond sky level if fans keep on promoting the film as they had done to earlier films. And for the good of Mohanlal and to the Mollywood we would really like to remind everyone about this situation and this is for the fans of every stars in our industry.

Last day Kerala saw some very dramatic incidents where Jagathy Sreekumar appeared in front of the public the first time ever after the accident almost paralyzed him. Jagathy had come with his family for a function arranged by P C George who happens to be the father of his son-in-law. It was a function to appreciate and give away awards to the children who scored high marks in the SSLC and higher secondary examinations this year. During the function Jagathy’s daughter in another woman rushed on to the stage unexpectedly and spend some time with her father which was a very emotional moment for both Jagathy sreekumar and her daughter Sreelakshmi Sreekumar who came on the stage. Jagathy seems to be very happy to see his daughter.

Sreelakshmi said that it was almost three years that she saw her father and whenever she went to see him at his house her elder sister and Jagathy’s first daughter Parvathy Shaun threatened her and not allowed her to see her father. Even after she went her with the court order to see jagathy the result was the same. That is why she rushed to see him when she came to know that her father is making a public appearance and she had the belief that no one will hurt her there in front of the public.

She said that even though P C George tried to pull her back from Jagathy, her father did not allowed it and Jagathy’s son-in-law Shaun George also allowed her to sit beside her father. When she got ready to leave the place Jagathy also gave her a kiss as an affectionate father and she told that her father was so happy to see her after these years.

Sreelakshmi said that there were threats for her before. But she did not mind them as Jagathy himself accepted her as his daughter and yesterday she came to know that there are many people out there who supports her and many people called her and lend their support to her in difficult times. Sreelakshmi is all set to be active in cinema as her next film Kranthi is all set to release.

6 months of the year 2015 is almost over and now its time to take look at the half year status of Mollywood box office which was going through a bad patch in the beginning of the year. Till now as much as 8 films made profit from theaters this year. Three of them were Blockbusters, Two hits and two average grossers as well. Now we can see which are those successful film that made Mollywood box office alive this year and helped it to wake up from its sleep which was the result of huge lose last year which is estimated to be around 300 crore rupees.

Premam (Blockbuster)

Premam helmed by Alphonse Puthren and starred by Nivin Pauly is the biggest blockbuster of this year which is still running with packed houses and collected above 35 crores till now. It had financed by Anwar Rasheed Entertainments.

Oru Vadakkan Selfie (Blockbuster)

Nivin Pauly is here in the list again with another blockbuster of the year named Oru Vadakkan Selfie which has been conceived by Prajith and written by Vineeth Sreenivasan. It was released in the summer season and was the first blockbuster of the year grossing around 20 crore rupees.

Mammootty at last got a genuine big success after waiting so long and 5 years to be precise. This flick directed by Siddique was hit the silver screens on the Vishu day and done very well at box office even after getting mixed reviews and grossed around 17 crores.

This was one of the summer release produced by Ashirvad films and directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. Sathyan Anthikkad kept up his sure bet status at box office with the super success of this Mohanlal starrer which had grossed around 11 crore rupees and family audience are the main reason behind its success even after getting not much good reviews from the younger generation.

Chandrettan Evidya (Hit)

Directed by Sidharth Bharathan and starred by dileep, this film has grossed around 8 crore rupees and with family support it had got a very good success when compared to the recent box office status of Dileep films.

Fireman (Average Grosser)

Fireman was produced by Milan Jaleel and starred by Mammootty is conceived by Deepu Karunakaran and it got a gross around 8 crores from box office and said to be a break even flick for the producer.

This film directed by Major Ravi starring Prithviraj got good word of mouth from audience and grossed around 5 crores and said to have made a little profit for the financer.

There is 67 movies released this year so far and among it the films that stated above and films like 100 Days Of Love, Ivan Maryada Raman, Neena, Nirnnayakam etc are the only ones which at least known to the audience. Even though some of them were not successes they are were known by the people due to it publicity and promotion strategy using online promotion and other useful methods. The majority of the other films were just came and went without people being aware of its release. The lack of promotion or proper publicity was the main culprit there.

Nikki Galrani wants to act with Mohanlal and Mammootty

Nikki Galrani is one of the very popular heroines from Mollywood who had made an impact here recently. It was in last year that she made her debut as the female lead opposite Nivin Pauly in debutant Abrid Shine directorial flick named 1983. Srinda was also a female lead in that flick along with Nikki Galrani. Nikki is the younger sister of Sanjana Galrani who is very popular in south India and specially in Kannada and Telugu industries with her glamour roles. Sanjana had acted in Mollywood as well and that too with Mohanlal in roshen Andrews directorial flick named Casanovva. She had acted along with Mammootty and Suresh Gopi as well in Shaji kailas directorial flick named The King and Commissioner.

Now her sister Nikki is a popular heroine in Mollywood and like her sister she too wants to act with the legends in Inidain cinema and the kings in mollywood Mr Mohanlal and Mr Mammootty. Nikki Galrani had already acted along with popular actor Dileep in the flick named Ivan Maryada Raman and with Suresh Gopi in a film named Rudra Sihasanam which is a ramzan release. Her film with Dileep Ivan Maryada Raman was a Vishu release this year as well. Nikki says that Mohanlal and Mammootty are legends in this field and who does not want to act with them. Like every others she too waiting for her chance to act along with these titans of Indian cinema.

After 1983 she had acted along with Nivin Pauly again in Om Shanti Oshana by Jude Antony. A big success was waiting her and it come to her later with Vellimoonga which had become one of the biggest grosser of last year with Biju Menon in the lead and it was conceived by Jibu Jacob who was also a debutant. With that success she got the title of lucky charm in Mollywood but that not last too long as her next films like Oru Second Class Yathra and Ivan Maryada Raman not done too well in Box office. For her performance in 1983 she got best female newcomer awards from many channels and from Film fare as well.

Kanthari is the recent release in Mollywood directed by Ajmal and starred by Shekhar Menon and Rachana Narayanankutty. This tells the story of Rani and Aamir played by Rachana Narayanankutty and Shekhar Menon. Rani or Kanthari is a bold girls from Kochi and the flick tells the story in the backdrop of kochi. The film shows us the incidents happens in the life of Kanathari aka Rani following all the elements from kochi like its slang, the habits of people there, their routine of life etc.

Rani grew up fighting with difficult situations in her and grown up as a bold girl as she had to suffer poverty and all kinds if dirty life situation a poor girl from the lower side of a city life can offer. She never bows down in front of any difficult situation that life presents in front of her and she had the guts to move on ignoring or overcoming every barrier.

Rani grew up as an adopted daughter of some prostitutes of the slums of Kochi and they tried to give her a decent living and educate her to save her herself from this life. But the situation wont allow them to fulfill their dream and every men who met her took their liberty to consider her as a dirty girl as they knew the background from which she is coming. AT last the fate makes her a chain-snatcher as she had to do it as her life made her to adopt that life.

Rachana Narayanankutty is good as Kanthari aka Rani as she gave a great portrayal of the character even though still needs improvement. But apart from her there is no one who can say that they had done justice to their roles. The technical sides like camera, music, editing and what not, everything was going down and down with each scene passes in the flick and altogether it went down as a huge disappointment or a disaster. It never keeps the audience engaging in it and at many times it felt that they had made this to test the patience of the spectators.

Kanthari, just avoid it and nothing more to say as nothing there is.

Thanks to other actors for not acting well says Mammootty

Mega star Mammootty had won yesterday the best actor Film fare award for the 11th time in his career and overtakes Mohanlal with whom he was tied on 10 awards for acting. Mammootty had won the award for his performance in the last year November release flick named Varsham helmed by Hit maker Renjith Shankar in which Mammootty had portrayed the character named Venu. He done wonderfully well as Venu by enacting the pain and suffering of a father who loses his son unexpectedly and at very younger as well.

It was considered as one of Mammootty’s best in last 5 years as well. And in fact films like Munnariyippu and Varsham gave him a relief from continuous failures as they had got good critical reception even though that too not done nothing much in the box office. But that really kept him in the race with some positive response about him from the audience and had won him some other awards as well in Kerala.

At the award function while receiving the award Mammootty made a funny comment also that for this award he really thankful to his fellow actors who are nominated as well as not nominated for not acting well because if they had done so well it might have been difficult for him to get this best actor award. So he thanked them all for not acting so great to win this award. He also thanked himself at the stage as he was the producer of the film Varsham as well. It is now a days a habit of the Mega star to make funny comments at the stage and sometime that goes wrong as well just like what happened on the stage of Asianet Television awards not so long ago. It had become a great controversy as well.

Apart from Mammootty his son Dulquer Salmaan also won the film fare award for the best newcomer from Kollywood for the performance in the film named Vayai Moodi Pesavum which was released in Kerala also as its Malayalam version. It was a rare moment in the history of Film fare award south that a father and son had won the awards in the same year.
