We all know that The universal star and The Complete actor Mohanlal had made his debut in Mollywood as a villain in the film named Manjil Virinja Pookkal which is a classic now. The flick was conceived by debutant director Fazil and it was indeed a debut film of many people. Manjil Virinja Pookkal was the debut film of actor Shankar as well in Malayalam even though he had acted tamil films before. Actress Poornnima Jayaram’s debut in Malayalam was also happens to be in this classic film. Shankar was the hero of this film and Poornnima was the heroine. Our Mohanlal played the young villain in it. The film was a great success and a sort of trendsetter with this new star cast.

Actress Poornnima Jayaram (now Poornnima Bhagyaraj) now remembers about her memories about Mohanlal when she saw him first at the sets of Manjil Virinja Pookkal  in the beginning of the 1980’s. Recently In an interview with Nana magazine she told that when she came to Mollywood for acting in this movie she was very unfamiliar with people here. She said as she came from Bombay she had always seen handsome heroes and heroines all around. By that standard of beauty or glamour she cannot even able to accept Mohanlal as an actor or she can’t imagine like that at all at that time.

But Poornnima says that what caught her attention about him was his acting skills. Mohanlal is unbelievably natural in his acting that no one can even think for a second that he was acting in front of the camera. Poornnima said if she has to say anyone as natural as him in Indian cinema she will say there will be only Nasurudeen Shah who has great naturality in his acting.

Poornnima later married to Tamil director Bhagyaraj and went to Chennai. Shankar also acted in many films as hero and later faded away from Mollywood. But Mohanlal has become a hero from villain and later he is grown in such a rapid pace that within 5 years he become a super star and become the most valuable star in our industry. And the fact is that still he is continues to be the biggest star, biggest crowd puller and the best actor in our industry and may be the greatest and finest ever Indian cinema has ever seen on silver screen.

Nivin Pauly or Fahad Fazil in Gautham Menon’s Mollywood debut

According to the reports coming in, popular Kollywood director Gautham Vasudev Menon is all set to make his Mollywood debut very soon and the report says that he is looking for a perfect script to make a grand entry to Mollywood. Sources also suggested that he is looking to do a romantic film which is his trademark style and the male lead of his mollywood film will be either Fahad Fazil or Nivin Pauly. He still not got the perfect screenplay and is searching for actively. He is now working on a tamil film starring Chimbu and in this film malayali actress Manjima Mohan also doing a key role.

There are reports which says that Gautham Vasudev Menon is planning films for Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay and also for Chiyaan Vikram. Report said that the film with Chiyaan Vikram will be the one which he planned for Suriya years back and after the fall out with Suriya now he is planning it to make with Vikram and you may all know about its title as it was called Dhruva Nachitharam then. Gautham Menon’s last release in kollywood was Thala Ajith starrer flick Yennai Arinthal.

Gautham Menon had planned to make his Mollywood debut years before and he had planned to make his debut with Mohanlal in the lead as he is a great admirer of the actor like many film makers in India. There was talks going between them and may we get to see a Mohanlal- Gautham Menon film in the future. According to reports Gautham menon planned a Dileep movie as well in Mollywood which also not materialized after the initial discussion stages. The main reason is that is our Malayalam super stars are too busy with their films which they are already committed and they always gives preference to directors from our industry than one from outside.

Gautham Menon had Kerala connection as his parents are from Kerala. But he pursued his film career in Chennai as he had grown up there and now considered as one of the best film maker in Kollywood. His association with actor Suriya was very popular before the fall out.

KO 2 is in its way

In 2011 kollywood witnessed blockbuster named KO which was directed by master director and cinematographer KV Anand and starred by Jiva, Karthika Nair, Ajmal Ameer and Pia Bajpai. The film was a political thriller and got great critical as well as commercial success all over south India. In Kerala also the flick was much appreciated and it was the biggest hit of Jeeva till date as well.

K V Anand is famous among malayalees long before KO as he was the cinematographer of many classic and evergreen Malayalam films like Thenmavin Kombathu by Priyadarshan and starring Mohanlal, for which KV Anand won the national award for best cinematography as well. Before that he also worked Mohanlal-Priya darshan team’s Minnaram as well which was also a super success. And K V Anand reportedly has plans to do Malayalam film as well with Mohanlal in the lead as he is great admirer of the actor and he expressed his wish to do a film with him many times.

Now the second part of this flick is coming and we still don’t know if it is the sequel of Ko but it is titled as KO 2 which is in its final stage of filming and it is directing by Sharath Mandava. The artists in this film is Bobby Sinha who rose to fame all over south India through last year’s sensational hit named Jigarthanda in which he played the negative role opposite Sidharth.

Bobby Sinha is well known to keralites as well as he is the villain in the super hit Nivin Pauly starrer film Neram directed by Alphonse Puthren. He had later done a cameo in Nivin Pauly starrer and Prajith directorial film of this year named Oru Vadakkan Selfie as well which is also a super success. Apart from Bobby Sinha the female lead of KO 2 is Nikki Galrani who is also famous in mollywood with films like 1983, Maryada Raman, Vellimoonga, Om Shanti Oshana etc. The film will hit the screens all over in the coming November.

Prakashraj who is also working in this flick was a part of the first part as well. Director Sharath himself has written the screenplay of this upcoming film.

Mohanlal to play dual characters in Kamamohitham

Another epic film is on way to its realization in the near future in Mollywood and it will be Mohanlal, the wonder from Kerala is going to be the central pillar of that film. As per reports C V Balakrishnan’s famous novel Kamamohitham is going to me made a movie soon and that too in Malayalam as well as in Sanskrit. Years Back it was published in Malayala Manorama Weekly and at that time itself many legendary fil makers like late Bharathan and K G George wanted to make it as a movie.

The Complete actor Mohanlal is doing dual roles in this upcoming flick and he will play the characters of Jajali and Sagara Dathan. K G George was the first one who came to make it as a film years before and he almost completed the pre-production works as well collaborating with Music director Ilaya Raja, Art director Sabu Cyril and cinematographer Santhosh Sivan. They had chosen Andrapradhesh as main location for the film as well. In that time Mohanlal was chosen to play the role of Sagara dathan and Mammootty as Jajali. At that time it was a big news that Mohanlal and Mammootty together in a K G George film and it really made a buzz in the M-town. Mohanlal was the one who was more interested in the making of this film and he also got ready to produce it as well. But due to some technical reasons that got dropped.

Now it is going to be conceived by a debutant director named Harihar Das from Thrissur and he is finishing the script. It will be the first Sanskrit film from a group of malayalees as well. Even though it was dropped earlier Mohanlal keep it close to his heart and even collected the pictures that artist Namboothiri had drawn for this novel and kept it like a precious treasure at his home even now.

Later Bharathan also wanted to make it as a film with Mohanlal in the lead but fate did not allowed it as bharathan passed away. Many had come to C V Balakrishnan with the desire to make it a film but nothing materialize. But now after 22 years it is going to be materialize. Mohanlal will be the only actor who will a part of this film and all other characters will be played by artists from North India. This also will be a tribute to K G George from his disciple C V Balakrishnan. It will be shot in Malayalam and Sanskrit at the same time.

Ordinary was one of the major hits of the year it was released and it was 2012 to be precise. Directed by Sugeeth and scripted by Nishad K Koya and Manu Prasad the film also gave us a great success pair of Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon. From that film they were considered as the lucky pair of Mollywood and they had done many films together as well and film like Romans conceived by Boban Samuel was also a super success with the presence of this pair. But failures were bound to happen and they took a gap after one or two failures and now all set to comeback strongly with the film named Madhura Naranga which was conceived by Sugeeth and all set to hit the screens here on this Ramzan.

This flick has been produced by M K Nasar and Stanley C S under their banner of Goodline productions. The story of the flick has been set in Sri lanka and Dubai and it tells a love story. The protagonists Jeevan and salim are working as taxi drivers and they have dreams to fulfill in their life. So they lives accordingly and they shares apartment with Kumar who is working in a super market. But unexpectedly a Srilankan girl named Thamara comes to their life and they were forced to accommodate her as well in their apartment. A young girls in an apartment with three bachelors creates lots of problems and that is the crux of the story along with it explores the social life, legal problems and facilities, employment in gulf countries.

Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon, Neeraj Madhav and Parvathy Ratheesh respectively plays the roles of Jeevan, Salim, Kumar and Thamara. Apart from these artists, actors like Suraj Venjarammoodu, Saadique, Niyaz Becker also part of the romantic comedy film. Parvathy Ratheesh is the daughter of Late actor Ratheesh and this is her first film as well.

The screenplay of the film is written by Nishad Koya who is also the writer of Ordinary. The story is by salama kottakal in associatin with Nishad koya and the DOP is faisal ali. Sreejith Sachin is the one who composed music for this ramzan release.

Raghava Lawrence is quite popular in south India and his films were doing very good recently. His last outing Kanchana 3 was also a big success in South India and everybody was eagerly waiting for him to announce that. He said that his next will be a film in action thriller genre as well. But did not told about much of the other details about the film such as the title, the heroine etc. But a fake twitter profile was created by somebody in his name and giving out wrong informations about his upcoming projects.

There has been a lot of rumours spreading among his fans and film lovers as whom will play the female lead in Raghava Lawrence’s next. Speculations about his role in the film as well doing its round in the social media circles. The above mentioned fake twitter account is the reason for all that speculations and rumours as we said through that twitter account wrong information are coming about Raghava Lawrence and about his films.

The recent information has came through that account was that actress Nazriya Nazim will play the female lead in Raghava Lawrence’s next. Nazriya was away from her acting career after marriage with actor Fahad Fazil and there has been reports that she is eyeing a comeback to her acting career. Her husband Fahad Fazil himself confirmed the news that she will be back very soon and she will announce by herself about her comeback project.

But when this news breaks out everybody thought that this will be the film through which she eyes a comeback. But the manager of Raghava Lawrence calls this news a rubbish and he says that there is no such choice has been made Raghava Lawrence himself said that he did not have any Facebook or Twitter account and please don’t believe anything that comes out through this fake profile created in his name in twitter.

He said he will definitely take legal action against those who created the fake profile in his name as well. He said that Nazriya is acting in his film also come from this fake account and it is not at all the fact.

Premam still going strong even after the piracy issue

Premam is in the news for all the wrong reason for last few days and it was mainly due to the spreading of its pirated print among the people and shockingly it bears the water mark of a censor copy as well. The complaint has been registered in police and anti-piracy cell of Kerala but still there is no clue about who had uploaded the print online and who is behind the leak of the censor copy which is only available in the hands of Alphonse Puthren (Director and editor of the film), Anwar Rasheed (producer of the flick) and in the hands of censor board or board members. An arrest was made in Australia for downloading a pirated print and the arrested one is a Malayali as well from Kottayam. But still no information about the uploader of the print.

The print which is leaked is going viral among the youngsters and we can see regular Facbook statuses saying that they are watching Premam pirated print at home. The screenshots from pirated prints are spreading and also the clips from the film also spreading through Whatsapp as well which has been taken from the so called leaked out censor copy.

Even after all this the film is doing good business at the cinema halls with good collection each days. Even though the rain and Ramzan month had really made an impact on its collections, specially in the northern parts of Kerala, the film is still going strong everywhere. The piracy issue seems least affected the film’s successful run. The flick had already grossed above 30 crore from Kerala alone and outside Kerala too it is doing fairly good business.

There were reports that the leaking of the censor copy and the spreading of its pirated print has something to do with a film mafia which tries to pull down Nivin Pauly from his rising stardom. But as far as the collection of the film is concerned the calculation of that so called mafia is going wrong all the way as the film still getting good response at box office.

We really don’t know about the authenticity of the so called reports about mafia from Mollywood and it may be just a blank rumour as well.

Mammootty and Manju Warrier won 62nd Filmfare awards

62 filmfare awards for the south has been announced yesterday night at Chennai and from Malayalam mega star Mammootty and actress Manju Warrier won the best actor and best actress award award for their performance in Renjith Shankar directorial film Varsham and Roshen Andrews directorial film How Old Are You respectively. From Tamil, actor Dhanush has won the best actor award for the performance in the film Velayilla Pattadhaari and from Telugu popular actor Allu Arjun won the best actor award. Actor Nivin Pauly had won the best actor award of the critics for his performance in the Abrid Shine directorial flick 1983 as well. Malavika Nair won the best actress award for her performance in the film named Cuckoo from Tamil.

For directing Bangalore Days Anjali Menon won the best director award from Malayalam and from Tamil A R Murugados won the same for the film named Kaththi. From tamil the critic’s choice of best actor award goes to Karthi for his performance in the film named Madras. The best film award goes to Munnariyippu directed by Venu from Malayalam and Kaththi directed by A R Murugados from Tamil.

Best actor in a supporting role was awarded to Jayasurya for his performance in Apothecary directed by Madhav Ramadas from Malayalam and from Tamil the best actor in support role award goes to Bobby Simha for his performance in the film Jigarthanda. The best actress in supporting role award went to Pravathy for her performance in Bangalore Days. Hari Charan won the best male play back singer from Malayalam for the song “Ethu kari ravilum “ from banagalore days and Shreya Ghoshal won the best female playback singer from Malayalam for her song “Vijanathayil..” from the film How Old Are You”.

Gopi Sunder is the best music director from Mollywood for his composition in the film Bangalore Days and B K Hari Narayanan won the best lyricist award from Malayalam for his lyrics for “Olenjali kuruvi..” song from 1983. Dulquer Salmaan won the best debuting male award from Tamil for his performance in the film Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and Nikki gilrani is the best debuting female from malayalam for the film 1983.

Veteran director I V Sasi and Actress Radhika were presented with Life time achievement award at the function.

Nivin Pauly to star in Premam Tamil version as well..?

Now Premam is everywhere in Mollywood and it had become the talking point since this year May 29 , the day in which it had released here in Kerala. The film had got a success which was even unbelievable for the cast and crew itself and had taken the Mollywood box office by a storm with breaking collection records one after another easily. There are two records in front of Premam to break now and that is the collection records of Drishyam and Bangalore Days which is 75 and 48 crores respectively.

Premam had already crossed 30 crore mark and there is every chance that it will break Bangalore days collection record which is 48 crores total. Drishyam record of 75 crores total seems to be a very difficult status as the monsoon season and holy ramzan moth had really took a toll on the collection of Premam and by the end of the Holy Ramzan month there many big films coming which may wash away Premam from theaters. The pirated print of the film which spreading – over also is a big barrier before the flick.

Now the hot news coming in is that Nivin pauly has a Tamil film in his upcoming projects after Action Hero Biju which he has been doing now and the rumours already started to doing the rounds which says that he will be doing the Tamil remake of Premam as well. If it is true then it mau be a big break for him in tamil as well. Earlier reports came that Dhanush may reprise the role which Nivin Pauly had done in the Mollywood version.

Nivin had already acted in Tamil as his film Neram conceived by Alphonse Puthren had made in both Malayalam and Tamil as well and it had got moderate success there as well. His other blockbuster Oru Vadakkan Selfie also said to be remaking in Tamil and we don’t really know if he playing the lead in that film or not. But it is a confirmed news that Nivin is going to do a tamil film in the near future.
