Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince postponed for Deepavali release

We had earlier reported about Sivakarthikeyan teaming up with Telugu filmmaker Anudeep KV of ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ fame for a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The film titled ‘Prince’ was initially announced as an August 31 release. However, they have now postponed it for Deepavali. The exact date is yet to be confirmed.

‘Prince’ promises to be an out and out fun entertainer. Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka is the female lead. She has earlier acted in the Hindi web series ‘Special Ops 1.5’ and the Polish film ‘Eter’. Sathyaraj is also playing a prominent role in this upcoming film.

Director Anudeep KV’s ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ starring Naveen Polishetty was a huge hit at the box office. Naturally, expectations are high when he teams up with Sivakarthikeyan, who is on a high after the success of ‘Don’.

‘Prince’ is produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, Suresh Productions and Shanthi Talkies. The film has music by Thaman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.

Vijay’s Varisu confirmed for Pongal release

Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Varisu’ with director Vamshi Paidipally has been confirmed as a Pongal, 2023 release. The film will also be releasing in Telugu as ‘Vaarasudu’. Touted to be a family-based mass entertainer, the film has a huge star cast. Rashmika Mandanna is paired with Vijay in the film. Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Khusboo, Sangeetha, Shaam and Jayasudha will be seen in other prominent roles.

Director Vamshi has scripted the film along with Hari and Ahishor Solomon. Thaman has been signed as the music director, marking his first time collaboration with Vijay. Karthik Palani is the cinematographer and edits will be handled by Praveen KL. The film is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations.

The first schedule of ‘Varisu’ was recently completed in Hyderabad. The remaining portions are expected to be shot in quick time. After its completion, Vijay will be reuniting with his ‘Master’ director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is fresh from the massive success of ‘Vikram’.

Ajagajantharam selected for screening at Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival

The Antony Varghese starrer ‘Ajagajantharam’ has been selected for screening at this year’s Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. The 40th anniversary edition of the festival will be held from August 29 till September 10.

‘Ajagajantharam’ directed by Tinu Pappachan had a superhit theatrical run. Scripted by Vineeth Viswam and Kichu Tellus, it is an action-packed entertainer set in the backdrop of a temple festival. Antony Varghese plays the lead role of a mahout. Arjun Ashokan essays the prime antagonist’s role. The film is majorly centered around a clash between two groups — Antony Varghese’s and Arjun Ashokan’s. Lukman, Kichu Tellus, Sabumon, Jaffer Idukki, Rajesh Sharma, Tito Wilson, Vijilesh and Vineeth Viswam essay other important roles.

During its theatrical run, ‘Ajagajantharam’ found its acceptance among the youth audience who loved the film for its unabashed action, bloodshed and thrills. As per the makers, it grossed over Rs 25 crore from its theatrical run. Emmanuel Joseph and Ajith Thalapilly produced it under the banner of Silver Bay Studios.

Palvarna Kuthira: First lyric video from Kaduva out

Prithviraj starrer ‘Kaduva’ is set to hit screens on June 30. Meanwhile, the makers have shared a song lyric video from the film. Titled ‘Palvarna Kuthira’, the track is composed by Jakes Bejoy and lyrics is by Santhosh Varma. Jakes, Libin Scaria, Midhun Suresh, and Swetha Ashok have lent their vocals for this mass number.

‘Kaduva’ directed by Shaji Kailas promised to be a high voltage action-packed entertainer. Jinu V Abraham has scripted the film. He has earlier penned films like ‘Masters’ and ‘London Bridge’, besides directing ‘Adam Joan’.

‘Kaduva’, set in the 90s, has Prithviraj playing a character named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. Vivek Oberoi plays the antagonist’s role of an IPS officer. Samyuktha Menon, Baiju, Sai Kumar, Siddique, Arjun Ashokan, Alencier Ley, Janardhanan, Aju Varghese, Rahul Madhav, Vijayaraghavan, Seema, Kochu Preman and Priyanka are also part of the supporting cast.

‘Kaduva’ is produced by Prithviraj Productions along with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

Shane Nigam’s Ullasam to hit screens on July 1

The makers of Shane Nigam’s ‘Ullasam’ have announced that the film will be hitting screens on July 1. The film is directed by debutant Jeevan Jojo, who was a former associate of Ranjith Sankar, Deepu Karunakaran and Jeethu Joseph. Praveen Balakrishnan has scripted it.

From the 2-minute long trailer and other promos, the film looks like a a romantic entertainer. It gives glimpses of colourful songs, fun moments, action and romance. Pavithra Lekshmi, a newcomer, is paired with Shane Nigam in the film. The supporting cast includes Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Basil Joseph, Hareesh Peradi, Ambika, Appukutty, Indrans, Nayana and Parvathy among others.

On the technical side, Swaroop Philip has wielded the camera and songs are composed by Shaan Rahman. While Gopi Sundar takes care of the background score, Johnkutty handles the edits. Jo Kaithamattam and Christy Kaithamattam are jointly producing the film under the banner of Kaithamattam Brothers.

As reported earlier, Dhanush and Anirudh Ravichander are reuniting after 7 years with ‘Thiruchitrambalam’. The makers have announced that the first single from the film will be out on June 24. The song titled ‘Thaai Kelavi’ already has high expectations among music lovers. Dhanush and Anirudh have teamed up for blockbuster albums like ‘3’, ‘VIP’, ‘Maari’ and ‘Thanga Magan’ before they parted ways.

‘Thiruchitrambalam’ is directed by Mithran Jawahar with whom Dhanush has worked before in ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, ‘Kutty’ and ‘Uthamaputhiran’. The film promises to a wholesome entertainer. While Dhanush plays the titular role, the film has Nithya Menen, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Raashi Khanna as the female leads. Nithya Menen essays a character named Shobana. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays a village belle named Ranjani and Raashi Khanna’s character is Anusha. Prakash Raj and Bharathiraja will also be seen in prominent roles in the film.

‘Thiruchitrambalam’ has Om Prakash as the cinematographer and Prasanna GK as the editor. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film will be hitting screens on August 18.

Khalid, who was active in the theatre circle as an actor, director and playwright, was popular for his role in Mazhavil Manorama’s satire show, ‘Marimayam’. Cinematographers Shyju Khalid (Joji, Kumbalangi Nights, Sudani From Nigeria, Maheshinte Prathikaram), Jimshi Khalid (Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, Allu Ramendran) and filmmaker Khalid Rahman (Unda, Love) are his sons.

It is already known that Akshay Kumar is starring in the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’. Suriya, who played the lead in the original, is making a cameo appearance in the remake version. The actor himself confirmed this by sharing a photo taken with Akshay Kumar from the sets. Along with that, he has written,

The Hindi remake, which is yet to be titled, is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original. The film is based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. It tells the story of a common man’s journey to launch an airlines service with the aim of serving the underprivileged. Reportedly, the Hindi version has been tweaked to suit the sensibilities of the North Indian audience.

Radhika Madan is playing the female lead’s role essayed by Aparna Balamurali in Tamil. Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Vikram Malhotra’s Abudantia Entertainment are jointly producing the remake.

Bhavana’s Malayalam comeback film Ntikkaakkoru Premandaarnn launched

After a gap of 5 long years, actor Bhavana is making comeback to Malayalam cinema with a new film titled ‘Ntikkaakkoru Premandaarnn’. Directed by debutant Adhil Maimoonath Ashraf, the film has Sharafudheen as the other main lead. The film went on floors last day with a customary switch on ceremony.

‘Ntikkaakkoru Premandaarnn’ promises to be a fun entertainer. The film’s first announcement was made by sharing a title poster, which indicates a sports drama. It has a new team behind the camera. Cinematography is by Arun Rushdie and music is handled by three composers — Paul Mathews, Nishant Ramteke and Joker Blues. Director Adhil himself is editing the film. It is produced by Renish Abdul Khader under the banner of Bonhomie Entertainments.

Bhavana’s last release in Malayalam was ‘Adam Joan’ in 2017. In between this gap, she worked in a few Kannada films including ’99’, the official remake of Tamil film ’96’, and the Shivarajkumar starrer ‘Bhajarangi 2’.
