Kuttavum Shikshayum planning for a direct release in Netflix

It was earlier announced that ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ would be hitting screens on July 2. But as theatres remain shut due to the pandemic, the makers are opting for a direct OTT release. It is learnt that the film is most likely to premiere in Netflix. Trailer is expected to be out during the Onam season

‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ stars Asif Ali, Sunny Wayne, Sharafudheen, Alencier Ley Lopez and Senthil Krishna as the leads. Directed by Rajeev Ravi, it is an investigation thriller based on true incidents. Sibi Thomas, a policeman in real life, who had also acted in ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, has scripted ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ along with journalist Sreejith Divakaran.

Asif Ali essays the role of a Circle Inspector named Sajan Philip in the film. Sunny Wayne, Sharafudheen, Alencier Ley Lopez and Senthil Krishna also play cops in it. The film is based on a jewellery robbery that occured in Kasargod in 2015. The case took a 5-member team from the Kerala police force to a dreaded village in Uttar Pradesh where they risked their lives to arrest the culprits.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s new film ‘Vikram’ has a star-studded cast comprising of Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. Narain and Arjun Das are also part of the film. Kalidas Jayaram is the latest addition to the team. Lokesh has made the official announcement by sharing a photo of Kamal Haasan and Kalidas in his social media handle. Along with that, he has tweeted,

Of late, Kalidas has been very impressive in Tamil. His performances in the anthologies ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’ and ‘Paava Kadhaigal’ were unanimously praised. Bagging an opportunity in a bigge like ‘Vikram’ should be a huge booster for the youngster. It is worth a mention here that Kalidas Jayaram has previously acted with Kamal Haasan in ‘Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum’.

Meanwhile, ‘Vikram’ shoot is progressing with a limited crew following all the Covid protocols. Kamal Haasan’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film.

Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan shoot progressing in Pollachi

‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’ is scripted by National award winner Sajeev Pazhoor of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame. The film has Dileep playing a middle-aged person’s role while Urvashi essays the part of his wife. The two actors are playing a couple for the first time. ‘June’ fame Vaishnavi and ‘Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal’ fame Naslen will be seen as their kids in the film.

According to him, the film is made for the audience to watch and enjoy from the big screen. Nadhirshah believes that it is the most fun film that he has done in his career so far. He along with Dileep are determined on getting a theatrical release. He also added that even Urvashi has pinned huge expectations on the film.

‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nathan’ is produced by NAD Group headed by Dileep and Nadhrishah. The film was supposed to be released much earlier but got postponed due to the pandemic. However, the makers are still persistent to release the film only in theatres.

Shoot for director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s new film ‘Vikram’ is currently progressing. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi as the leads. Lokesh is planning to make the film as a treat for action lovers. It is learnt that around 70 days of shoot has been scheduled for filming fight scenes alone.

Since it has been a long while since Kamal Hassan has done a full-fledged mass entertainer, fans are eagerly waiting to see him back in action. National award winners AnbAriv masters are handling the stunt scenes in ‘Vikram’. They are known for choreographing brilliant action sequences in films like ‘K.G.F: Chapter 1’, ‘Thadam’ and ‘Madras’. They had previously worked with director Lokesh in ‘Kaithi’.

‘Vikram’ also stars Narain and Arjun Das. The technical front comprises of National award-winning cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Philomin Raj and music director Anirudh Ravichander. Kamal’s own banner Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing the film.

Vetrimaaran-Suriya film ‘Vaadivaasal’ is expected to begin this year. It is easily one of the most anticipated projects in Tamil cinema currently. Thanks to the massive hype, the film has bagged a whopping deal as Hindi dubbing rights. It is learnt that Goldmines Telefilms has acquired the rights for ₹ 25 crores. The fact that the deal was signed even before the commencement of shoot for first look launch says a lot about the expectations on the film.

Trade analyst Kaushik has tweeted,

The makers of Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Bell Bottom’ have announced that the film will be hitting screens worldwide on August 19. The announcement comes a big surprise at a time when the release of most films are being put on hold due to the pandemic. Some others are opting to premiere their films directly on OTT platforms. The release of ‘Bell Bottom’ is expected to be a booster for theatrical business, atleast in North India.

‘Bell Bottom’ is the official remake of the Kannada film of the same name. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, the film is an espionage thriller that in which Akshay Kumar plays a RAW agent, who is on trail of a mystery. The storyline is set in the 1980s and it has Huma Quereshi, Lara Dutta and Vaani Kapoor as the three female leads. the teaser online.

‘Bell Bottom’ has Rajeev Ravi as the cinematographer. The film is jointly produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that director Shankar is planning a big-scale action drama in which Ram Charan essays the role of a cop-turned-politician, who pursues to change the system. Joju, Narain, Kathir and Sharafudheen complete shoot for a bilingual thriller

We had earlier reported about debutant director Zac Harriss helming a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual film. Narain, cinematographer-turned-actor Natarajan Subramaniam aka Natty, Joju George, Sharafudheen, Kathir, Athmiya Rajan and ‘Kayal’ Anandhi are part of the project. It is learnt that Sharafudheen and Joju will be reprising the roles played by Kathir and Natty in Tamil. John Vijay, Prathap Pothen, Bindu Sajeev and many others are part of the cast.

This yet-to-be titled bilingual project is a thriller, which has its story set in Chennai for the Tamil version and Kochi for Malayalam. It is a fictionalized account of a few incidents that happen in our society. As assured by the makers, the film tries to convey a realistic message, which the audience will be able to relate easily.

The film is produced jointly by UAN Film House, Juvis Productions and AAAR Productions.

Natchathiram Nagargirathu: Kalidas Jayaram to star in Pa Ranjith’s next after Sarpatta Parambarai

Pa Ranjith must be basking in the glory of his latest release, ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’. The Arya-starrer which showcased the boxing culture in North Madras during the 70s and 80s has earned unanimous appreciation. Critics and commoners alike have heaped praise on the film, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the director is next planning to make a romantic film and it is rumoured to have been titled as ‘Natchathiram Nagargirathu’. Buzz is that Kalidas Jayaram and Ashok will be seen as the male leads in the film. Dushara, who made a memorable debut with ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’, is being considered as the female lead. Though Ranjith has already confirmed that his next is a love story, he is yet to reveal details regarding the cast and crew.

Both Ashok Selvan and Kalidas are talented young actors who have shown a lot of promise. Likewise, Ranjith has also glimpses of a fine maker when it comes to handling romantic scenes. So it will be interesting to see how this new combo works out.

Chiru 153: Lucifer Telugu remake titled Godfather?

Blockbuster Malayalam film ‘Lucifer’ is being remade in Telugu with megastar Chiranjeevi as the lead. Tamil filmmaker Mohan Raja of ‘Thani Oruvan’ fame is directing the film, which so far been called as ‘Chiru 153’. Latest buzz is that the makers are planning to title the film as ‘Godfather’. A formal announcement is expected to be made soon.

Though the makers had to planned to shoot much earlier, they had to change plans due to the pandemic situation. It is learnt that the film will be go on floors by August second week. Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan is producing the film.
Music department will be handled by S Thaman and he has already started composing for the film.

The Telugu version of ‘Lucifer’ is expected to have some changes from the original, which was the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj. Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier and Indrajith Sukumaran essayed prominent roles in the Malayalam version. Details regarding the cast and crew of Telugu remake is yet to be announced.
