Sequel announced for Mukundan Unni Associates

As Vineeth Sreenivasan’s ‘Mukundan Unni Associates’ continues its good run at the box office, the makers have announced its sequel. Last day, a success meet for the film was held in Kochi. It was attended by Vineeth, the film’s director Abhinav Sunder Nayak and the female lead Aarsha Chandini Baiju. While interacting with the medias, Vineeth revealed that they are planning a second part which will begin in 2024.

‘Mukundan Unni Associates’ is a dark comedy co-written by director Abhinav and Vimal Gopalakrishnan. Dr Ajith Joy is producing the film. It also stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sudhi Koppa, Tanvi Ram, Manikandan Pattambi, Sudheesh, George Kora, Althaf Salim, Biju Sopanam, and Riya Saira among others.

The film has ‘Hridayam’ fame Viswajith Odukkathil as the cinematographer and music by Sibi Mathew Alex. Director Abhinav has handled the edits along with Nidhin Raj Arol.

As an actor, Vineeth Sreenivasan also has ‘Thankam’ coming up. Directed by Saheed Arafath of ‘Theeram’ fame, ‘Thankam’ also has Biju Menon and Dileesh Pothan as the leads. The film scripted by Syam Pushkaran is said to be a crime drama. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Vineeth is playing a thief’s role in the film.

Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince all set for OTT release

Sivakarthikeyan-starrer ‘Prince’ is all set for its OTT release. Disney + Hotstar has bagged the streaming rights and the film will premiere on November 25. ‘Prince’ had its theatrical release on October 21 as a grand Deepavali release where it competed with Karthi’s ‘Sardar’. Though released amidst high expectations, it tanked at the box office.

‘Prince’ is directed by Telugu filmmaker Anudeep KV of ‘Jathi Ratnalu’ fame. It tells the story of Sivakarthikeyan’s school teacher character falling in love with his colleague, a British woman. Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka is the paired with Sivakarthikeyan in the film. Sathyaraj and Premgi essay other prominent roles in it.

‘Prince’ is produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, Suresh Productions and Shanthi Talkies. The film has music by Thaman and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa.

Sivakarthikeyan is currently working on ‘Maaveeran’ with ‘Mandela’ fame Madonne Ashwin.

OTT release date announced for Aishwarya Lekshmi’s Kumari

After a decent theatrical run, Aishwarya Lekshmi’s ‘Kumari’ is set for release on Netflix on November 18. The film tells a fantasy horror tale based on Kerala’s folklore. Nirmal Sahadev of ‘Ranam’ fame has directed it. He has also scripted it along with Fazal Hameed. Upon its theatrical release, ‘Kumari’ got average response with many praising the film’s ambitiousness and its production quality.

The film’s cast includes Shine Tom Chacko, Spadikan George, Surabhi Lekshmi, Rahul Madhav, Giju John, Tanvi Ram, Swasika, Shruthi Menon, and ‘Kalki’ fame Shivajith Nambiar. Giju John, Nirmal Sahadev, Sreejith Sarang and Jakes Bejoy are jointly producing ‘Kumari’. Aishwarya Lekshmi is also one of its co-producers. Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames presented the film.

On the technical front, Nirmal has retained almost the same crew from ‘Ranam’. Jakes Bejoy is the music director and Sreejith Sarang, the editor.

1744 White Alto new trailer promises a lot of fun

‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’, director Senna Hegde’s next, ‘1744 White Alto’ is ready to hit screens this Friday (November 18). The makers have released a final trailer, which gives a fair idea about this unique crime comedy. The film stars Sharafudheen as the lead. Senna Hegde has penned its screenplay along with the film’s DOP Sreeraj Raveendran. Arjunan has written the additional screenplay.

The official plotline goes, “1744 White Alto is a comedy crime drama, set in an unspecified place in Northern Kerala. Vijayan, a lowlife, gets himself involved in a case of mistaken identity. His car gets swapped with that of two small-time crooks Ebi and Kannan. With the local police, Mahesh and his team hot on their tails, a fun-filled cat-and-mouse chase ensues. What happens next is a series of comedy of errors. The story is flush with humour, satire and suspense – leading to an unexpected climax.”

Vincy Aloyshious, Rajesh Madhavan, Navas Vallikkunnu, Arya Salim, Anand Manmadhan, Sajin Cherukayil, RJ Nilja and Renji Kankol are part of the cast of ‘1744 White Alto’. Mrinal Mukundan, Sreejith Nair and Vinod Divakar are jointly producing the film under the banner of Kabinii Films.

Prithviraj-Alphonse Puthren film Gold eyes December release

The highly anticipated Alphonse Puthren film ‘Gold’ is gearing up for December release. Though the film was slated to hit screens for Onam, it pulled out of the race as the team couldn’t wrap up the post-production works in time. It is now learnt that the makers are pushing for a December release.

‘Gold’ has high expectations as Alphonse is making a comeback seven years after the sensational success of ‘Premam’. The film also marks the first outing of Prithviraj and Nayanthar together.

‘Gold’ also has a huge supporting cast in it. Shammy Thilakan, Ajmal Ameer, Mallika Sukumaran, Jagadheesh, Sudheesh, Chemban Vinod Jose, Jaffer Idukki, Prem Kumar, Saiju Kurup, Krishna Shankar, Baburaj, Lalu Alex, Shanthi Krishna, Roshan Mathew, Vinay Forrt, Thesni Khan, Suresh Krishna, Deepti Sati, Althaf Salim, Shabareesh Varma, and Sabumon Abdusamad are some of them.

‘Gold’ is produced by Supriya Menon’s Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen of Magic Frames. Besides Malayalam, the film will be releasing in Tamil as well. Subbiah Shanmugham, who has distributed films like ‘Valimai’ and ‘Maanaadu’, is presenting the film in Tamil Nadu.

The teaser of Unni Mukundan’s upcoming release ‘Shefeekkinte Santhosham’ is out. From the teaser, it looks like a family drama set around a Muslim family. Unni plays the titular role of Shefeek. Divya Pillai, noted for her roles in Ayal Njanalla, Oozham, and Kala, is paired with him. Bala, Manoj K Jayan, ‘Joseph’ fame Athmiya Rajan, Rahul Madhav, Shaheen Siddique, Mithun Ramesh, Sminu Sijo, Krishna Prasad and Azees Nedumangad also star in the film.

‘Shefeekkinte Santhosham’ is written and directed by newcomer Anoop Pandalam. Eldho Issac is the film’s cinematographer and Noufal Abdullah, the editor. The film has songs by Shaan Rahman and background score by Ranjin Raj. Unni Mukundan is producing the film under his banner UMF. This is his second production after Meppadiyan.

The actor was last seen shooting for ‘Malikappuram’. He also has several other projects lined up. It includes Arun Bose’s ‘Mindiyum Paranjum’, the Vysakh directorial ‘Bruce Lee’, ‘Yamaha’ and ‘Gandharva Jr’.

We had earlier reported about Nivin Pauly teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Ram for a new Tamil film titled ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Mazhai’. The makers have unveiled Nivin’a character look in the film. His long-haired getup has grabbed the attention of many.

‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Mazhai promises to be an epic love story. Anjali and comedy actor Soori also essay major roles in the film. Their character posters also got shared recently. The makers are next expected to release the teaser.

Ram is one of the most revered filmmakers in Kollywood. He has made critically praised films like ‘Kattradhu Tamizh’, ‘Thanga Meengal’ and ‘Taramani’. His last film ‘Peranbu’ starring Mammootty was a widely acclaimed one that went on to be screened in several international film festivals. Expectations are naturally high for ‘Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Mazhai’ as well.

The film has Yuvan Shankar Raja, a regular collaborator with Ram, as the music director. Cinematography is by NK Ekhambram. Mathi VS is the editor. Suresh Kamatchi’s V House Productions is producing the film.

Recently, we had reported about Karthi teaming up with director Raju Murugan for a new film titled ‘Japan’. Its first look was released last day. The poster suggests that Karthi’s character in the film is a spoilt brat who has a fascination for luxury. Sharing the poster, the actor wrote,

Excited to start this journey of a quirky guy! #Japan – Made in India.

‘Japan’ stars Anu Emmanuel as the female lead. This is her first outing with Karthi. Director Vijay Milton and Telugu actor Sunil will also essaying prominent roles in the film. It has music scored by GV Prakash, cinematography by Ravi Varman, editing by Philomin Raj and action choreography by Anbariv. The project backed by Dream Warrior Pictures got launched only recently.

Karthi is currently basking in the back-to-back success of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and ‘Sardar’. He next has the sequels to both the films coming up. While shoot for ‘PS 2’ has already been wrapped up, it is not yet known when ‘Sardar 2’ will begin. The first part, directed by PS Mithran, had Karthi in a dual role as a spy father and a cop son. Despite facing off with Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Prince’ at the box office, ‘Sardar’ managed to successfully cross the Rs 100 crore mark.

Soubin Shahir replaces Prithviraj in Ayalvaashi

Back in 2019, we had reported about the Sukumaran brothers, Prithviraj and Indrajith starring in debutant Irshad Parari’s ‘Ayalvashi’. Prithviraj Productions was supposed to produce the project, but it didn’t see fruition due to some unknown reasons. The makers have now revived the same project with a different set of actors and technicians.

Soubin Shahir has been signed to play the lead role. Binu Pappu, Shine Tom Chacko, Nikhila Vimal and Lijomol will be seen in major roles. Irshad Parari’s brother Muhsin Parari, who co-wrote ‘Sudani From Nigeria’, ‘Virus’ and ‘Thallumaala’, will be jointly producing ‘Ayalvaashi’ with Ashiq Usman Productions.

‘Ayalvaashi’ has Sajith Purushan as the cinematographer and Jakes Bejoy as the music director. Siddique Hyder is the editor. The project got launched recently with a formal pooja function in Kochi.

Saudi Vellakka release date announced

After making an impressive debut with ‘Operation Java’, director Tharun Moorthy is back with his next, ‘Saudi Vellakka’. The film, which was supposed to hit screens earlier this year, has finally got a release date. The makers have announced it will be arriving on big screen on December 2.

‘Saudi Vellakka’ will be relesing amidst high expectations. The film first grabbed attention when it got picked for screening at the Indian Panorama of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), set to be held in Goa from November 20-28. The film is also an official selection at the 21st Dhaka International FIlm Festival, 2023.

‘Saudi Vellakka’ stars Lukman, Binu Pappu, Sudhi Koppa, Gokulan, Srindaa, Dhanya Ananyaa, and a host of newcomers. It is said to be legal drama based on a real-life based story. The film has camera camera cranked by Saran Velayudhan, edits handled by Nishad Yusuf and music composed by Paali Francis.

Sandip Senan’s Urvasi theatres banner is producing the film.
